i grabbed a firmware from SamMobile:
Model: SM-N910V
Model name:
Country: USA (Verizon)
Version: Android 4.4.4
Changelist: 3239494
Build date: Tue, 11 Nov 2014 17:13:41 +0000
Product Code: VZW

and put the phone (Note 4 Developer Edition) in download mode, then used Odin to flash the above file to my phone (i put it in the "PDA" slot, with only "Auto Reboot" and "F. Reset Time" checked. Did this lock my bootloader? When i was doing it i somehow had the idea that it would only replace the kernel and not touch the bootloader... but now trying to use Odin to flash CF-Auto-Root or TWRP fails. I can still flash back and forth between ANI1 and ANJ5 though.

Sad to say yes you did. Unless you made a backup of your aboot partition you are locked like the retail now. There is a small chance Samsung will unlock it but I wouldn't hold my breath.

No, all that would do is replace or overwrite the kernel. You flashed a factory retail version of the firmware. There is no factory firmware for the Developer Edition. When you flashed the retail version you locked your bootloader. Like Misterxc stated, unless you backed up your aboot file there is no way to recover and I doubt seriously if Samsung is going to help you out. They haven't helped with this issue in the past.

I misunderstood what you were asking. If you can't ODIN TWRP without it failing then you've locked the bootloader.

The closest file I see is the partial firmware file but it has the aboot.mbn and the stock recovery that need to be removed and repackaged. I would probably remove the pit file as well. Removing those three files would make it dev edition safe but in your case it's too late.

Did you save your aboot partition per instructions and save it in a safe place. If yes, your probably good, hopefully. If no, then...........

why 'partial firmware' and not 'stock restore' which is "a tar of all stock images except bootloaders"?

I didn't notice that one but that will work for the dev edition.

*MEXICAN USERS, PLEASE SKIP TO PART 4*
The following is for Canadian Note 3 users - model number N900W8. Please do not attempt the following on ANY other device (including the N900T). I am not responsible for your phone or any damages, so perform at your own risk.
[PART ONE - UPGRADE FROM 4.3 TO 4.4.2 STOCK]
1. Download the following Stock TelCel (Mexican) 4.4.2 files.
http://pc.cd/7kH (AP - System)
http://pc.cd/gXH (BL - Bootloader)
http://pc.cd/K7H (PIT - Repartition)
2. Download the following Canadian modem and CSC.
http://fs1.androidfilesharing.com/d0ed8bf1a29d2c01 (CP - Modem)
http://fs1.androidfilesharing.com/6cb078fbe8a64316 (CSC - Carrier Specific Code)
3. Download Odin 3.09.
http://fs1.androidfilesharing.com/7625af2fbef08abc
4. Backup important files to your computer and boot into download mode (hold HOME+VOLUME DOWN during boot).
5. Plug the phone into your computer, preferably with the cable that came with the phone.
6. Open Odin 3.09 and load the 5 files you just downloaded into their corresponding spots.
7. UNCHECK Re-Partition. Make sure Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time are CHECKED.
http://i.imgur.com/f5vVc5h.jpg
8. Click start and wait for it to finish.
*Notes*
-This will factory reset your device.
-There has been some controversy over whether to leave Re-Partition checked or unchecked. Try unchecked first, then checked if it doesn't boot up.
-If you are having problems, try booting into recovery (hold HOME+VOLUME UP during boot) and factory resetting your device and restarting.
-If you boot and find bloatware from a different carrier or something isn't working, open the dialer and type *#272*YOURIMEI# and change your CSC to the appropriate carrier. This will factory reset your phone.
-We have the ability to revert back to 4.3 (flashing stock 4.3 rom in Odin), but the method isn't concrete. You should be ready to stay on 4.4.2 if you are going to flash it.
-If you are having issues writing to the SD Card, take a look at this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2617921
__________________________________________________
[PART TWO - ROOT AND CUSTOM RECOVERY]
1. Download Chainfire's CF-Auto-Root file.
http://download.chainfire.eu/352/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-hlte-hltexx-smn9005.zip
2. Load into Odin 3.09's AP section and flash in download mode.
3. Download BigBiff's N900W8 TWRP recovery OR Chenglu's CWM recovery.
TWRP - http://techerrata.com/bigbiff/hltecan-recovery.img.tarCWM - http://d-h.st/users/xiaolu/?fld_id=31963
4. Load into Odin 3.09's AP section and flash in download mode.
*Notes*
-Assume this will trip Knox warranty to 0x1. Some users have reported otherwise, but just be ready for it.
__________________________________________________
[PART THREE - CUSTOM 4.4.2 ROM AND KERNEL + WIFI/NFC FIX]
1. Download your favourite custom 4.4.2 rom from the N9005 forums.
2. Download custom (N900T) 4.4.2 kernel.
Custom (CivZ) - http://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=12054Custom (Wootever) - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2581888
3. Download the WIFI/NFC fix (NB7 Source)
fs1.androidfilesharing.com/2a941b72c218c505
4. Place files on SD card. Some roms are known to wipe your internal storage.
5. Boot into TWRP Recovery and wipe system, data, cache, and dalvik cache.
6. Install custom rom, kernel, and WIFI/NFC fix, then reboot.
*Notes*
-A custom rom alone will break WIFI and NFC, follow these instructions to install a custom rom and fix connectivity.
-The stock kernel caused connectivity issues on custom roms, use CivZ's custom kernel
__________________________________________________
[PART FOUR - MEXICAN USERS]
1. Complete PART ONE using these files instead of the ones above.
http://pc.cd/7kH (AP - System)
http://pc.cd/gXH (BL - Bootloader)
http://pc.cd/dXH (CP - Modem)
http://pc.cd/K7H (PIT - Repartition)
http://pc.cd/97H (CSC - Carrier Specific Code)
2. Complete PART TWO of this post. (Root and install TWRP)
3. Make a full nandroid backup via TWRP
4. Complete PART THREE of this post (custom rom, kernel, and fix).
5. To fix connectivity, boot into recovery and restore ONLY the EFS files and the modem from the nandroid you made and reboot.

Yeah I saw this as well. I had it not work with re-partition checked, and it's worked every time since then with re-partition unchecked. Not sure what the implication of this is yet.

If you are using Odin v3.09, load the file in the AP box. For other versions, use the PDA box. Do not check or uncheck any boxes other than the defaults. Yes, flashing the file will restore your phone to near factory settings and flash all partitions including bootloader, system, modem and recovery. This means you will have stock, rather than custom, recovery at the end. You can, however, always reflash custom recovery if that's your preference.

Hello,
Here is an UPDATE this is a FULL S6e+ Canadian Variant Rom
First of All at this point you know that your phone should be rooted + you need a moded kernel or you will be stuck in a boot-loop ( you will find it in S6e+ international Thread )and this means BYE-BYE WARRANTY
Second do not forget to Backup in TWRP / CWM
The most important is: I'M not responsible if your phone went crazy
Now that you agreed for the 3 Warnings:
Download the ROM in your SD
Reboot in your TWRP / CWM recovery
Flash it
Wipe Cache, Wipe Dalvik/ART Cache
Reboot wait and wait maybe one more time wait (android will finish doing his Job) et Voilà.
What is in this ROM
A FULL ROM WITH ALL THE CSC CANADIAN
Volume is boosted
Native Call Recorder is Enabled
2nd Keyboard Symbol Enabled ( for eng_US and fr_CA )
Rooted
Xposed
Deodexed
As from my Side everything is working well . BUT STILL SO IMPORTANT DO A BACKUP AS WE DON'T HAVE YET A STOCK FIRMWARE.
When you Flash it you will have Rogers CSC . if you want another Canadian Carrier CSC,
once you phone is booted go to the dialer and type *#272*IMEI# its gonna prompt the Canadian CSC select the needed one click on install, the Phone will reboot Reset and install the selected CSC.

Do you know where we can download the Canadian version of stock firmware? My phone has turned out to be a brick because of the FRP lock (so stupid that forgot OEM unlock before factory reset the device), seems like I will have to use the stock firmware to make it work again... Or do you have any other suggestions? Only few information about 928W8, so hard to find one on the same boat...

Thanks for the reply. I am in the situation exactly like here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-galaxy-s6/help/custom-binary-blocked-frp-lock-t3152054
Tried to flash TWRP using ODIN, but got the same error "custom binary blocked by FRP lock". Only download mode is available, in other words, only ODIN can help now.
Lots of discussions in the above link, but seems that the only working solution is to flash the stock firmware, which doesn't exist for 928W8 in Canada....

Yes, it is rooted. But the FRP lock stops me odin flashing the tmobile stock firmware, which I guess is still different from 928w8's stock firmware.... Odin always shows failed.....

You should be able to ODIN flash TWRP then you will need to flash a custom kernel to get root, and flash Superuser.
I have not tried it yet though, so I have not verified if it works or not.
I tried flash clean rom via odin, fully bootup, reboot to download, installed TWRP recovery, then flashed superuser.zip. Bootloop.
There was this other article on the net about the 910C saying they got 5.1.1 but you have to flash back your booloader to 5.0.1.
Odin new firmware, Odin twrp, in twrp flash freeza's beastmode 1.1 for n910T/3, flash supersu. report.

Dunno. Left laptop at work but should since it's not enforcing. I'll know in a few hours.

Alternatively AEL or other non enforcing 5.1.1 compatible kernel are needed for Samsung lollipop 5.1 or greater with root.

Ripped the BL/CP parts straight from the firmware.
Since I assume none of you want to exactly download a 1.84GB file for just a bootloader and modem upgrade (why would you go back to stock), here are the BL/CP parts!

[Update: 13-1-16: PIT file now available to recover from a bad brick]
[DO NOT USE UNLESS YOU NEED TO REPARTITION YOUR PARTITION TABLE, OR YOU'RE IN A BAD BRICK.]
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24369303960684492
INSTALLING THESE FILES
1. Load phone in download mode. (Vol down+Home+Power)
2. Open ODIN3 on your computer. (Make sure the Samsung drivers are installed.)
3. Load the booloader file in BL.
3a. Load the modem file in CP.
4. Hit the start button, and let the files flash.
5. If there are no error messages in the log portion of ODIN3, then you have successfully flashed and upgraded to the 5.1.1 bootloader.
NOTE: At this time, you CANNOT downgrade from the 5.1.1 bootloader, so take caution.

T3 isn't interchangeable with T firmware.
I'm gonna go on the limb here, I'm 50% certain you can't go back to COG2... Be very cautious... When I Odin'ed DOK2 the process seemed odd not sure why lol
Will say modem on DOK2 seems way more stable, I don't seem to have as many data drops, and me personally I could give two s**ts if I can go back to cog2..doesnt matter as you can still flash those roms, I'm on a DOK2 Bootloader and modem with a cog2 rom right now...by the way thanks for the bootloader and modem files man..lol..really didnt wanna go back to stock

Yeah, pretty much agree here. This new modem has given me a lot less data drops. I had really spotty HSPA, with it dropping so constantly. Tested it out during school today and it hasn't dropped.

N910T3 BL+CP parts ripped! I also managed to acquire a PIT file for the T3...DO NOT LOAD THE PIT FILE INTO ODIN3! I HAVE IT IN CASE SOMEONE WHO HAS A SEVERE BRICK CAN USE IT!
Same instructions as before for flashing the BL+CP parts. Reference a few posts up.
