Is it possible for someone to make lolipop for this device? It would be awesome.
It seems likely. Dastin1015, the guy that got CM11 officially supported, is working on it. Last I heard, he got it to compile and is now working on getting it to boot. After that, it will probably be a while before it's ready to be a daily driver.

Is anyone attempting to do this now we have the Kernel Source?
Even a proper port of CM 5.06 or 5.07 would be uber cool))
JD
I'm also interested to a full working CM
The major work is port the desire 2.6.29 kernel stuff to cm-kernel 2.6.33.4
Some fix is also needed to the userspace tool, but this is not an hard work
but why the thread title is not "CyanogenMod ROM port to Desire"?

Any will do
+1 waiting for a CM port...
i think later this week we will have something to play with
If that happens I will actually stop thinking as much of trying to get a hold of a Nexus One as I am now.
I really want the Desire to be as open as the HTC Hero and Nexus one for different ROMS and Mods.
+1

Bit ot: did u find a way to get bt running on your cm rom?
Hi everyone,
I just bought an i927, and I'm really looking forward to installing some custom ROMs. Above all, I'd love to see a MIUI rom for this device. MIUI is hands down my favorite Android flavor. What do you think about these instructions for creating a "MIUI PatchROM"?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1483332It looks to me like it should be possible to MIUI-ify an existing stable ROM for the i927 with this method. What do you think?
Thanks, cheers.
interesting if you will to do this I would recommend you use the "[07.06.12]Osimood v2.06.07" ROM as that one is based off of 2.35 and has all bloat removed. Will make for a good starting point for you. you can find it at this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1462298 good luck and I hope you get it working MIUI is a nice looking ROM

That would be interesting, but it's dated february and based on GB.
I think we should consider basing it on ICS: CM9 is coming, it should be easier (assuming CM9 works well).
Hmm, I was also wondering if those instructions would work for ICS too. I know that MIUI is currently running with the ICS base on other devices.
As for me, I doubt I have the skills to pull this off.
Is this still stands? It would be really cool to have MIUI v4 on the glide!
Someone recently mentioned wanting to give it a try in the CM10 topic, so it seems it's on!

Unfortunately I think I'm too dumb to follow those sketchy instructions that I linked to, which assume a huge amount of knowledge of the Android base system and its frameworks. But, for those who have already created ROMs for the i927 or even other devices, I suspect it would be relatively easy.
I though I'd look into trying this! I'll need some help from some willing dev' s and Linux gurus!
So far I have followed the instructions from get hub, synced the patchrom. Following the command to adb pull "stockrom.zip" from my glide is getting errors and won't make the zip.
I'm currently running the new UCLJ3 ics update that is rooted, deodexed, and zipaligned, with litekernel v1.1. I'll have to redo the adb pull to get the error, can't remember what it was. It was at the end when it was about to make the zip.
If anyone is willing to help, I'll post the exact error later tonight after work!

I own this phone and a Note 3 but I use my epic just to flash just because. My question to the community is do you think that there will be a 4.4 Rom for this ancient phone since KitKat runs better on Low end devices also?
We need devoted devs, time and (possibly) a 3.4 kernel.

If you check the development section, you will find that BBelos has got an unofficial CM 11 (Andriod 4.4 kitkat) ROM out. I've loaded it on my Epic & so far it is working good. Check it out,

I'm having a couple problems with cm 11.0 the sign in screen is partially blacked out, also save to sd card is broken. The apps disappear after a reboot.
Yep, it's still alittle buggy, that's why its an unofficial. It's not really ready as a daily driver, but for a bleeding edge 1st shot, it's a really good job. Kudos to BBelos for getting it out so quick. Most old phones are still hoping for KitKat.
cyanogen 11 good enough
Found out that if things don't work on first try reflash again without wipe then everything is good
Does anyone know what the Experimental kernel does? There are no informations about it in the OP of the Rom...I downloaded it but it appears to be for the Nexus 5...What is the difference between this kernel and the rom-kernel???

Who made the kernel?
After updating to the latest Mahdi rom and backing up what I had, I flashed the experimental kernel and wiped cache/dalvik.
It wouldn't boot, so I had to restore what I had.
No idea what it was supposed to do.

Yeah, if it said it was for the nexus, it wasn't going to work. Kernels should be device specific, and I am very skeptical of those that have been supposedly ported over, rather than compiled from the device's kernel source and then updated with new options.
Experimental in regards to kernel devevelopment means there are probably issues beyond the norm.

The filename is Mahdi-Hammerhead-exp-4.4.2-v1.7-23-03-2014.zip, but I thought that just meant it was somehow derived from the Nexus 5. Don't know why it would be posted in the Mahdi rom OP if it didn't have a chance of working.
To make myself clear.I said that nexus 5 thing, because the file of the kernel says hammerhead..But everything is fine..I use the rom as it is....I want to thank the dev for this amazing rom..A big thank you to all the devs..All of them have put a lot of work to their projects..I just made a question about this kernel.nothing else..Thanks for the reply..

Mahdi has a good reputation for being dependable. Glad you found something you like!
I never make requests normally, but desperate times.. Is it anyhow possible to port ubuntu for d855/any device version?
I have heard its only cm10.1 based! Just saying?!
Thanks.
It would be awesome to see Ubuntu on g3.
I wish it will ported.
Hello there,
i am currently working on this, just right now i compile cm10.1, as it is needed as base of u-touch, i dont know if it would also work with actual nightlys from cm too.
and i could not say if i am able to port ubuntu touch successfully to the g3... But i am trying and i wont give up so fast, because everything is possible

Will continue when my new Display arrives
