I just bought a Mi Max this month. Even though the price is close between them and it's a year old, I choose the original Mi Max due to a stable Lineage OS. I am super happy with my Mi Max running Lineage.
Definitely get the Mi Max as we have lots of development on it and it's actually better than the Mi Max 2. I just ordered a new back cover, fingerprint scanner and volume buttons for the Mi Max a friend gave me (he dropped it and bent the back cover and messed up the volume buttons) and I'll be selling it as soon as I install them.

i tried my friend mi max 2 and i have a mi max and i found that the max 2 speed is a bit slower and camera isnt as impressive either btw using custom rom on my mi max

AliExpress sells them. You can buy almost every part from there. I ordered three spare volume/power button flex cables, a fingerprint scanner, a sim tray and a back cover all from the site. (wanted to replace the gold with Silver) The total cost was around $29 USD.

I have been looking for a few weeks while limping along on my Nexus 6p. I love the stock android feel and my main asks are for a good camera, screen and battery.
Hence here i am looking at a 3 XL.
Amazon have New units at e395 for a 64gb. 2 year warranty
Ali express have refurbs at e250 for a 64gb or e290 for a 128gb. 90 day returns.
I am leaning to Amazon personally due to the warranty cover but i would appreciate any input from people who have gone down the refurb route.
bought a 128gb 3xl last month on ebay for 130 euro delivered from uk phone cost before customs was a100 euros ost of about 5.5-6 hrs and battery life just about get the 12hrs on the stock 4 year old battery got a battery to go into it shortly and running andriod 13 via pixl dust rom
