I rarely ask for help, 'cause I can normally figure this stuff out.
I'm trying to help a friend root his EVO 4G, long distance. I don't have physical access to the device.
Followed the directions for root using revolutionary with hboot 2.16.
Revolutionary worked and flashed CWM recovery. He now shows Revolutionary with S-OFF. He booted into recovery, flashed the superuser apk then rebooted. The phone came up just fine, and the superuser app is installed, but NO ROOT.
Even when he tries to update the superuser app (in app) it says "Gaining root access........Fail".
Other apps report no root access.
Thoughts?
May have something to do with not having enough system space?
I could be completely off.
download this file and flash it in recovery and you will have root http://downloads.androidsu.com/superuser/su-bin-3.0.3.2-efghi-signed.zip
no its not superuser its the binaries needed to have root for superuser

Brilliant! That did it.
Thanks
I can't seem to root my M8. I had done it before but had to do a factory reset. Since then, I try and flash the root file and root checker still says there is no root. I then tried downloading SuperSU from the play store. I have the SuperSU app on the phone, but I still don't have root access. I'm stumped.

I had this problem on arhd.Try to flash supersu.zip from chainfire's site then flash a custom kernel which disables read/write protection like elementalx.
Download rooting tools from here http://android-revolution-hd.blogspot.com/p/android-revolution-hd-mirror-site-var.html
Extract and flash the boot.img file using fastboot flash boot boot.img
Then flash the zip Root and Busybox zip file using a custom recovery.

Somehow I have lost root on my phone???
I was messing with upgrading the firmware and radio.
The phone is working but I can't access any app which required root and SU.
Using Root Checker I got this message: Sorry! This device does not have proper root access.
How do I fix this???
Thx...
Download latest superuser binary and flash in recovery
Yeah, download newest supersu libraries and flash it or try wiping data of supersu app, this was also sometimes the problem.
Sent from Xperia Z1, or maybe not anymore
i recetly did twrp update to MM , i want to root i downloaded latest apk from kingroot web , installed run , after several tries system says its root , ok when i restart and again check check from root checker there is no root access ?
Kingroot only give temp root for now with marshmallow. I followed this guide and now have permanent root with supersu.

Hello!
I have a problem, with root my phone, and I have a question about that.
Why when I'm starting to root my phone, with KINGO ROOT, gives me back ROOT FAIL on 73 percent ?
How to root my phone in other way ?
You need patch boot.img.
Using kinggo root is your problem, flash magisk via twrp and you have rooted, that all it take (Besure that you have unlocked bootloader)
