[Q] usb debugging mode - Sony Xperia ZL

Hi to all,
I am confused about this usb debugging mode.
My problem is that I have an 6503 what it goes bricked after I made update via OTA at 4.4. The update was successful but after restart the phone was dead. No Sony logo, just vibrate once and I think it goes in a boot loop because is get hot (like processor is working). If I push the reset button it restart again (can feel the small vibration from begin) but same boot loop.
I tried to reflash the firmware, with sony update tool and with flashtool but no result.
Both made the job without error but after restart nothing is happening.
Why I am confused about this debugging mode, all the tutorials say to check this debug mode before make a reflash or update, so how can I activate this mode if I can't start the phone?
Another question, why the official update tool from sony don't need this mode to be activated.
Why I ask about this is because after many tries with Flashtool I observed something, you know that when do a reflash with flashtool in the begin of job say a report about the existing version on the phone. Every time when I want to do an reflash say I have the version A on the phone, even if last time I tried to put version B or C of firmware (A, B, C are just examples). Each time at the final of reflash say the job is done without errors. I was thinking that maybe is because the usb debugging mode is not checked in the software.
The phone is going in fastboot mode and flash mode correctly.
Is there a more powerful tool for reflash or change the boot.img file?

I think the most powerful tool before JTAG tools is s1tool. It can recover most hardbrick if you remove battery and short the test point on the board then flash via usb in emergency mode.
Here is thread with details: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2646405
That thread is for Z Ultra and Z1 but the instructions are similar. Here are the two points on Xperia ZL you need to short together with some wire or paperclip etc:

[Q] Rom install failed now can't boot

Hi guys, so my problem is I was installing a new rom on my rooted D855. everything was going along fine but then the process stalled. I left it running for 15 - 20 minutes but it was still on 33%. I tried holding the power button in desperation which shut the thing down. Now when I try to factory reset it goes to the prompt screen, I answer yes, then it asks me to confirm. from there however it goes to LG splash screen and eventually a black screen with Fastboot mode started. -reset- portcharge -reset- portcharge fastboot: processing commands in the top left corner. That's it.. If I try download mode it goes to the download screen and then to the black screen as described above.
Sounds pretty ordinary but if there is an answer out there I am sure one of you guys will know it.
TIA
i had some similar other issue and the only way i got out of it, is by using the lg flashtool 2014 and the KDZ file appropriate to your version
there is a thread with a step by step instructions.
you launch the flashtool, then insert the kdz file (original stock rom) then you put your phone into download mode (making sure in windows/controlpanel/devicemanager/ports - comp port 41 for the device driver)
you press volume up and plug it into the pc, the pc sees the phone and it starts reflashing the custom rom to your cell.
i presume that as soon as your download mode is working by flashing whatever command is corrupt and makes your phone black should be bypassed by then
i hope it helps - look for the thread how to flash the lg
Thanks I'll give it a shot. Not sure device manager is seeing it properly. I'll have a play and see. Thanks again for the reply
O.K here's the thing, my phone is seen in device manager as a Samsung Android Phone. Under the details tab it shows it connected via USB Modem Phone ADB Port. There is no option to change the port to 41. Anybody who can help I would be very grateful......

brick after format data

Hello,
I think I bricked my phone
I wanted to upgrade from 4.4.2 to Lollipop http://forum.xda-developers.com/sony-xperia-z1-compact/general/stock-14-6-1-236-customized-lollipop-5-t3264557
And before that I did a factory reset and format data (I got some issues on my phone and wanted to get rid of them).
Now I can not enter TWRP, I can not enter any thing. At the time beeing, after many restarts my red button is broken, I switch it off by "Power/Vol+". When I connect USB or push Power it starts and showing "SONY"-Logo, and that's it.
I can not enter flash-mode by swith off, hold Vol- and connect USB :crying:
What can I do to revive my Z1c?
Thanks for advices

Yes, I have, but can not enter my phone/don't know how to enter.
I tried switch off (by Power and Vol+), holding Vol- (the same with Vol+) and plug in USB - it starts by showing red light for 2 sec than "SONY", and than stps - no vibration, no light, only steady "SONY"
cmd shows: D:\Programme\Android-Tools\ADB>adb reboot recovery
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
error: device not found
D:\Programme\Android-Tools\ADB>adb reboot recovery
error: device not found
D:\Programme\Android-Tools\ADB>adb reboot bootloader
error: device not found
Phhu, hopefully I do something wrong?!
Install these:

and try again

Power off by holding power and volume up, just wait until it turns off. When it's totally shut off, just hold volume up while plugging in cable and don't let go of volume until you see blue led. Then you're in fastboot mode. If you have drivers installed, it's very easy to get into recovery from there. Report back.
If everything fails...
Install Flashtool on your PC, install the necessary drivers (flashtool helps you with that), download the current firmware in .ftf format and apply it with Flashtool to your phone.
No worries, we all were at your point sometime but you can always recover
Thanks for your hints, folks!
I'll try them tomorrow and give feedback than.
Happened to me once.. Accidentally wiped my data..
Only thing I managed to do is reinstall kk via flashtool
Xperia Z1 Compact .386 rooted
...nothing works.
I have almost everything installed: adb.exe (800kb from 25.07.2013), fastboot.exe (157kb from 25.07.2013), Flashtool (Version 0.9.14.0 built on 12-02-2014 22:45:00), Xperia Companion (Vers. 1.1.24.0), Z1 Compact drivers (device manager says: Sony sa0109 ADB Interface Driver Vers. 2.0.10.30018 from 13.05.2013).
Nothing can connect my Win10-PC via USB3.0 to my phone, it always starts (when I connect it to USB by holding wether Vol+ or Vol-) with red (...pink?) light for about 4sec, followed by showing "SONY" - end of anything.
I'm desperate :crying:
Do you get the green led light when connected in flash mode (vol down when connecting)?
Xperia Z1 Compact LP .386 rooted
No, only red light, than "SONY" without any vibration...
May it be, that usb-debugging was off, whenn I did format data?

I don't think it's related..
Maybe you don't have the right drivers on pc?

The fastboot or flashmode mode should always work - regardless of what you did regarding ROMs or setting or wipe etc.
It is there to save your phone if you messed up.
It is strange that you cant enter these modes. Normally its really a driver issue and you PC does not recognize your phone.
But it seems that you have tried installing them already.
Just to make sure... Your phone charges normally when you plug it in right? So it cant be a broken cable or broken micro-USB connection on your phone?
Also make sure your phone is really shut down - try resetting it with the red button next to your SIM-card slot.
Your volume buttons were fine before right?

BINGO!!! ...the usb-cable, it's a pretty new one, but I know, the Z1c doesn't like every cable
Now I can enter Flashtools flash and fastboot mode.
I think I lost almost everything on my Z1c, even my TWRP, don't I?
What is now for noobs like me the best way to install this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/sony-xperia-z1-compact/general/stock-14-6-1-236-customized-lollipop-5-t3264557

Thank you all for your input!
It was the usb-cable which did load my Z1c and in this case (no other data on the phone) light the purple LED and display the "SONY"-logo - but nothing else!
All the future problems are more on the software-side (my head) than on the hardware (the cable)...
Haha glad you sorted it out. I don't know why but I also have USB cables in my collection that just won't work with my Z1C... But now you know
If you need further help in restoring with flashtool you can also look up this thread for some helpful links : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2631291
Try to get your hands on a .108 firmware (I always keep one on my PC in case I f*** up ). They are easy to root with EasyRoot and from there you can flash dualrecovery. With TWRP you are good to access your backups or flash anything you want again.

Solution for Hard Bricked LG G4 (9008)

Hi guys,
Some people including me faced Hard brick issue with LG G4, which has now two solutions. the first is temporary, i discovered it and it involves using an SD card flashed with Original EMMC dump ( i tested it with H815 ands H811) , the second needs advanced hardware, equipment and soldering skills ( JTAG) .
The solution that i want to explore is trying to revive the phone with the SD card.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/development/unbrick-lg-g4-h811-9008-qualcomm-t3456417
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/development/unbrick-lg-g4-h815-9008-qualcomm-t3452853
The H811 dump that i made has TWRP recovery and unlocked bootlloader, so if someone know how to help that would be awesome.
How ???, its very simple. I dont have very good UNIX architecture skills , but if the SoC successfully booted from the SD card. We could see if it detects the EMMC memory ( with parted or with LS command). I personally Tried to brow /dev/block directory from TWRP i hoped to find MMCBLK1 or something but that was unsuccessful , im pretty sure the TWRP or the Soc Does not mount it automatically .
I really dont know How , but i'm very Sure that there is a Solution headed that way , So if some one is Good with Unix architecture and can find a way to soft Flash the EMMC from TWRP ( installed in the SD card ) it would be very Nice
hi,i tried the sd card method...it boots but immediately gives me secure boot error (1006).
i have an h815 bl locked
Hello
I have LG H815 and have bricked. I have installed wrong firmware so it is brick now.
I try new tot file with QPST . but it says fail what s wrong with me?
My computer is win 10 64 bit
You can fix fastboot mode with this way.
1. First you need to download stock rom that your phone supported. extract laf.img file from rom and copy it into fastboot directory
2. download LG Flash Tool and make it ready
3. open flash tool and load firmware and dll that support your model.
open command prompt and make sure you in fastboot directory where the fastboot and related files are stored.
Run following commands.
fastboot erase recovery
fastboot erase laf
fastboot flash laf laf.img
fastboot reboot

Hurry up, now you need to start flash with lg flash tool, if device does not start into download mode. remove battery and insert again, press and hold Vol Up btn and plug USB cable it will boot into download mode. and your device com port should be 41, if not change it in device manager. and start LG Flash tool to load stock rom. once it finish loading rom your device will start and will show you factory test 1, 2, or 3. if it stuck there more than 3-5 minutes. reboot your phone. now you will have welcome screen.
I hope this will work with supported models.

lol, when you see a screen with 0% and a usb connected image, that mean your battery dead
why not just try to charge your phone? or replace a battery?

Hello, well after what happened I thought the same and went to buy another battery and when they tried it did not work, I repeat, not fastboot, no logo, no recovery, only a small vibration without screen, it is not detected by the PC in any of its modes as dead, the detail is that this happened after restarting when I had flashed bootloader N, rom V30, magiistic, I gave it restart and it did not turn on again, so I discard that it is hardware .
I think the problem was that I flashed the bootloader with full aboot, that gave me hardbrick I was told in a forum in Spanish I leave the link I hope you help me thanks

Hey MichaelCV
I have exactly the same problem with my LG G4 H815p. I was running [ROM][H815] H-ROM G4 NOUGAT [v29a] _ LG G4. The phone was up and running and last night I flashed the "LG-H815_29a_Modem_and_Bootloader.zip" to try resolve an issue I was having with the mobile data indicator not showing. I flashed the zip in TWRP, rebooted the phone and now it is bricked. I have exactly the same symptoms as you. Windows and FWUL does not see the phone, no matter what combination of keypressed etc that I try.
Lets hope we find a solution here for it.

LG G3 D855 Kernel Crash

Hello people,
First of all, I'm new here with english as my secondary language, so be easy with me, please.
So, I have my unrooted LG G3 D855 with locked bootloader and when I'm trying to boot it up 'Kernel Crash' appears with options to 'reboot' (which makes it back to crash again) and Dload Mode (it doesn't do anything). I saw posts with it but I didn't find fix for myself. I tried to install custom recovery and get custom ROM but my 'USB debugging' is not enabled. I tried finding threads with enabling USB debugging via PC but I dind't find proper answer. I also tried to enter in mode where you can make a factory reset, tried it and Kernel Crash appeared again. And sometimes crash doesn't appear but then I'm stuck with boot loop.
Did I do something wrong ? Is it even possible to do anything to make it work ? I don't need data or media, just need to make my phone work.
I hope it's a good thread and someone can actually help me. Thank you.
I had "Demigod kernel crash" and solved by reflashing phone with a professional box using 910k USB cable, since LG software upgrade didn't recognize the phone
I wasn't able to save internal memory data because TWRP crashed at startup and was formatted in F2FS
Since you have locked BL you just have to reflash stock ROM, just hope that phone will be recognized from PC

Is your device goes to DOWNLOAD mode? (You can do this by powering off device completely then hold volume up key and insert usb cable).
If you have DOWNLOAD mode, then flash stock firmware. (Remember, if you flash using LG Flash Tool, then you have two options of flashing (Normal Flash & CSE Flash. In normal flash, your internal memory will not formatted. In CSE flash, internal memory will be formatted. This is what i learnt from my experiments.). I'll hope this helps.

here i have solution for Hard brick, 900e error in qpst, get warranty back after unlo

In case anyone is wondering how to get locked bootloader back.
I just found the solution and it is not just reverting qpst rom via qfil or mi flash. there is more to it as i tried various method regain my warranty. so here is the solution
you have to go into bootloop or worse have to a brick out of your device. in case you wondering why? reason is when you can change your bootloader by flashing custom rom and lock your device than your device basically becomes a brick and when flash qpst rom than qfil or mi flash re write bootloader code and make it locked again.
trick here is to change the bootloader and lock the bootloader again or just restore a full backup of your custom rom (i my case it was jaguar rom). you will go into go into bootloop and not even be able to go into recovery again. Now after this process you will face a trouble of getting into edl (9008 mode).
So to go back into edl you need a simple type c cable(or micro usb +type c adapter). i used micro usb as i had one from previous phone. just peel off the outer layer and join or touch black and green wire in it. turn on your phone by holding power button. you will straightly go into edl mode as soon as you will separate these two wires, if you want a stable connection than you can pull off the cable while keeping black green in touch and connect a new (better one, in my case it was oneplus 3 wire) wire. you will go into edl mode and from here you can flash with the help of mi flash. qfil might not work.
In case of not receiving hello packet. just repeat the process of dIY wire. I hope you got it.
p.s. If you want to save update such 2.0.133st and 2.5.104st, go into file explorer and unhide folders. you updates will directly go into folder named .zuiota
If updates is not working from marshmallow to naugat than just go to settings and turn off battery optimisation for google play services ( if don't want risk than turn off all battery optimisations, you can turn them on when update is finished).
You must reboot your phone once after update is finished.
