Upgraded version of the Note 4 already?? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 4

Ok maybe I misunderstood this, but a RL friend who's brother works for AT&T was telling him that a Exynos chipset version of the Note 4 is coming to AT&T??? Uhm what?? Has anyone heard this or did I miss something? I am set to get one as soon. Like as soon as I can find the time to get to the AT&T store lol. Is he pulling my chain?? I did some googling and all I see is an international version with a Exynos chipset. Is this is Bulls&^$% or not?

Don't think that chip handles US LTE.

That's what I thought I had read a while back when the upgrade bug started biting me. (December) But I figured if anyplace could set me straight this would be the place. Now to find that illusive case I want if this really is BS!

That new version of the Note 4 is going to Korea only. Don't worry about it, just get a Note 4 and enjoy.

Can I purchase a version now that is compatible with US Verizon LTE?

Anyone know which version that I could purchase would be compatible with Verizon LTE and 3G bands here in the US?
With it looking like the note 2 will be released here in the states on the 24th I'd just wait
This space for rent!

Damn, I was hoping one of ones being sold on the US Ebay would already be compatible. I'd like to purchase it and sell my Galaxy Nexus before news of the new Nexus completely devalues it..
Additionally, the Verizon version is supposed to have a locked bootloader (isn't it?), so I'd like to get a different version so I can put custom roms on it. I may be completely wrong though, and if so, I hope someone corrects me.

ATT version vs internaltional version?

Guys,
Im planning to buy galaxy note 2 no commitment handset but im confused which one to go for. They are same priced. Since i came to US in fall 2011 i have never used a US locked phone. Im currently using htc hd2 (the legend).
My question is if i buy att phone and then unlock it will flashing new roms etc still be a problem compared to international version. Do they provide only a code to unlock the phone or a complete new rom to flash which removes att bootloader and drivers and makes it like an international version. The only difference i guess is about warranty and lte radio between the two variants. I do not care about lte radio since im mostly connected to wifi but i care a little aboutthe warranty.
Some questions might be stupid since im new to this us version phones so im sorry about it.
Thanx in advance for replying

No,you can't install an AT&T Rom on an Int model & vica versa. So, If you have an AT&T model, you can only install AT&T Note 2 ROM's. If you have the Int model, then you can only install the Int Note 2 ROM's. The difference between models is that AT&T LTE band isn't supported on the Int model. So if you want LTE on AT&T then you'll have to get the AT&T model.
Okay thank you guys for your replies.. It indeed cleared my mind. Im gonna pre order no commitment galaxy note 2 from at&t right away so that i get warranty on phone as well..:good::laugh:

can i use it on the AT&T network by popping my current GS3 simcard in there without issue?
See we didn't get screwed this time with the crappy processor. If we did, then I'd be all over the international version. But we get the exact same specs as the International version plus LTE. The only advantage the international version has is that it will get updates faster, but I don't care about that, as I plan to root anyway.

Yes, if you get an Int GN2, you can pop in your current GS3 simcard without any issues but you won't get LTE speed.

I would of gotten the Int GN2 if it supported AT&T LTE but it didn't so I'm going to get the AT&T one.
Looking at the advantages of att GN2 such as warranty and lte radio i preordered one for myself on no commitment basis..gonna get it by nov 9th for which i just cant wait.. I dont care about updates either since im gonna root it too.

Not true. As long as the partitions are the same on both devices, and considering the hardware between both are mostly the same, it should work fine, as long as the proper modem.bin and kernel is running.

im planning to get the at&t version, but im waiting for reviews to come up. that LTE seems like its gonna go through the 3100mah quickly. i got the original at&t note and i hate having to recharge every 11-12hrs. its crazy how late at&t is on the galaxy note 2. tmobile even beat them to it.

AT&T Galaxy Note 8

I already have the GN8 wifi and want to get the AT&T LTE verison. I can live without root if I can install 4.2.2. Is 4.2.2 available for AT&T GN8? I only see the GT-N5120 and the device number is different for the AT&T model.

If it's available, I haven't seen it yet. We're at the mercy of AT&T pushing it sadly. Has Samsung officially released it?

I love this Note 8, I also have a Galaxy Note 2 and probably getting a Note 3 when it drops... a la the 0 ZERO DOWN AT&T deal. I use this Note 8 for work, home and everywhere in between. I cant put it down... I just hope there will be either an 4.2 or dare I say... 4.3 update!!! And if not I know we have some kick ass developers on this site!!! So maybe we can get what we need and when we want it soon

Like me. I'm using the international NON LTE version. The N5100 on straight talk a AT&T MVNO. Everything works and get between 300kb/s-800kb/s.
Best Phone I have ever bought. I love the big screen.

I got too tired of waiting for perm root/bootloader unlock soooo.....

I got a nexus 6. Traded it for my Note 4, plus the guy gave me 50 bucks. So that sweetened the deal for me. Overall I'm very happy with the trade, especially because I have an unlocked bootloader and can put any rom I want on it. So happy beyond belief. I'm sorry to anyone still stuck on their ATT note 4. It was pure boredom for me. Wish everyone on this forum luck, and it was fun while it lasted with you guys!

I feel l ya.
Personally, I won't own a Nexus. I need a top notch camera, and it just falls short.
But between the Note 5 lacking expandable memory, I have chosen to go with the LV V10 (when released) as my next phone, even though I love the Note line. And, of course, AT&T will not ever be in my carrier line again.
This video had some pretty nifty tips to address the battery and expandable memory issues in the note 5 - https://youtu.be/lFyZ5YyAsk4..
Everyone carries a battery pack anyway and I've personally not replaced the battery on note 4 since I bought it last year..

I'm happy for you. Personally I will never buy another Samsung phone again from AT&T. If they want government contracts that much then go right ahead. I'm going to definitely get new LG V10 when it comes out but hoping that the bootloader isn't locked and that I can at least put in a 128gb micr sd memory card. With Samsung doing what they did to make the S6 more like the Note series it's safe to say that the Galaxy Note series is officially dead. It's crazy how Samsung sacrificed their best selling line of phones for another line of phones that fail every year in sales and customer satisfaction. You would have thought that the Galaxy Note series would've became Samsung's new flagship phone. Wish I still had my Note 3 cause it was rooted but I'm stuck now with the Note 4. LG V10 or an iPhone cause those are my only options.

Couple things.
First, placing your pictures in Google, according to their policy you agree to when you use it, allows them to use any of those pictures for advertisement of their products or services. And they can do so without your permission, since you agree to it by using them to store your pics. Frankly, I'm not too keen on that one.
Also, since I listen to a lot of music, but get songs from different sources, Google Music is not an option since you can't listen to songs through them that was not purchased through them.
Music & pictures/camera are my primary concerns when buying a new phone, and I use a lot of space for them. On my Note 4, I've got a 128gb card with a 32gb phone, and I'm down to 12 gigs on the card and 6 on the phone. But personally, I love having everything I want at my fingertips without using external storage or needing to be around a signal.

Looking at the specs for both, it looks like they're MOSTLY identical...except that AT&T and T-Mo have most, but not all, of the same frequencies for UMTS and LTE bands. Everything seems the same, except:
AT&T
UMTS 900 (Band 8)LTE 2600 (Band 7)T-Mobile
UMTS 1700/2100 (Band 4)LTE 900 (Band 8)LTE 1800 (Band 3)
Are the frequencies that AT&T and T-Mo share, those frequencies that they both use most commonly, and the above frequencies are mostly just for increasing available bandwidth for their respective networks? Or is it possible that either of them might use only the above bands, in some areas?
I have no idea about frequency stuff. All I know is that I've read on here about people getting the t-mobile version specifically because the AT&T version is not rootable.
Frequencies Matter

Yes, the frequencies between AT&T and T-Mobile are different and do matter when it comes to data. You will not be able to get access to all towers LTE tech unless the phone has the proper hardware in it. It will limit your 4G usage but you could at least have a rooted phone. You kind of have to pick your poison in that regards.

Actually, from what I could tell, if pdadb.net and wikipedia have their respective info correct (and current), the only frequencies the T-Mobile version doesn't have, that the AT&T version has, are frequencies that aren't even used by any U.S. carriers. According to pdadb.net, the frequencies the AT&T version can use, that aren't available on the T-Mobile Note 4 are UMTS 900 (Band 8), and LTE 2600 (Band 7). According to this Wikipedia article, the LTE2600 band isn't in use anywhere in the US. It's used in Canada, but I don't anticipate visiting there, or anywhere else outside of the US, any time soon. (There's another article that shows similar info about the UMTS900 band, but that's even less relevant.)
So, it looks like I'm looking for a T-Mobile Note 4, if I can find one for cheap, that's not too scratched up, or anything.
I just gave up on my att note 4. Switched to the T-mobile version.

Note 10+ Exynos (international) on Sprint

Hey guys,
I just purchased the 4G Note 10+ from Samsung in the US (I'm on Sprint and they only offered the 5G for Verizon customers). I currently have a Note 5 (about time for an upgrade). My concern is that after a bunch of research, I won't be able to do the things I've enjoyed doing on my Note 5. So, I am considering returning the one I ordered from Samsung in the US and ordering the Note 10+ Exynos version from a website like Clove so that I can still root it. I don't care about Samsung Pay or WiFi calling, so I'm fine losing those.
From my understanding, CDMA doesn't work well with Sprint on Exynos. I even heard some talk about it being throttled. Should I be concerned?
Will the 5G work with Sprint now or in the future, even though they have an exclusive deal with Verizon right now and are there any gotchas?
Can I just request a SIM card from Sprint or I do I need to do something funky with an international SIM first?
Is there anything else to look out for or that I'm not considering?

Thank you. I believe you are absolutely right. You just saved me a lot of hassle.
I'm going to return the phone I ordered and wait for the (hopefully) OnePlus 7 Pro 5G Sprint variant to come out.
Honestly, I was tired of having to choose between being able to backup my phone (basically all I want root for) or being able to encrypt my phone (which is lost when you root it). With the OnePlus 7 Pro I could do all that, not have a hole in my screen, it's cheaper, and would be 5G too. So whatever. I'll miss the SDCard and wireless charging, but that's about it. Too bad neither have a headphone jack, that might have kept me on it too. Okay, done ranting. Thanks again!
