Firmware updates

Using an unbranded 32gb d855 in the UK. Got no ota update from eur 10a so flashed v10f. Now on v10f global.
Questions...
Modem appears to be the same, so don't kdl files include modem/radio's?
What is the best firmware to be on, EUR or global? Does it even matter?
How do I know if firmware is for web d855?
Man, do I need custom recovery, screwed the phone and had to start all over sigh!

I'm not sure that everybody agrees with me but I think your original carrier stuff is in data/.OP which is not touched by a kdz flash and I believe that they are all the same.

you download the 10c update for you device (see kdz tread in general) and flash it with THIS
just a suggestion don'tt flash 10c but go with 10E if available for your device(same model number)

Im interested in answers to the same questions, except i need one with gsm/WCDMA/Lte in the settings that would work with Tmobile in the US... So i can root this thing already.

I am completely newbe here, could you please also give me the link to find a D855 10E file ?
My model suffix is A6FR (france?) does that mean there is no 10E ?
or should find another country 10E? I am ok taking anything that will work
and after 1.5 hours of digging helplessly would appreciate if you can help me finding the proper 10E (if there is one).

If it says 20a, that's a no go mate! You'll need to downgrade to KitKat first, then root, than you can have whatever you want.

If your model says D855, then the any EU firmwares should be OK, the Generic maybe? You won't find your 3 branded there.

Regardless which V20 - version you have now, just follow the guide and flash one with V10 (KitKat). If you don't see the 3 (three) version listed, go for the generic one (16GB or 32GB - whichever you have).
Once you have flashed V10, you can root it and go on...
However, if you feel uncomfortable with the process, or have never did it, or don't know exactly what you're doing, I'd suggest to get help from someone locally, who has experience mate!

There is difference as one is release 10A an d the other is release 10L, but for your purposes, it is irrelevant.

i have an LG g3 D855 i bought it form an o2 shop unlocked to any network in the UK about a year ago.
just wondered what is the latest firmware it should be running please?

do you have a link as to where i can download it form as OTA doesnt find it and connecting it to my computer and using the LG suite doesnt find it must be as my phone is using a totally different ROM to what it should be

Need more information. Are you for example still running the stock rom that came with your phone(plus OTA updates).... Or have you rooted and installed TWRP and a custom ROM etc?

This is the wrong section, but you need to do *#06# to get your IMEI, and enter that number to the end of this link: http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/auth_model_check2.jsp?esn=
It'll tell you which is the latest firmware for your phone.

Hi one of the admins moved my question here sorry, but i went on that link with my IMEI number and it comes up with this D85520n_00.kdz - which i believe is lollipop is that correct?
does anybody know when my phone should be getting marshmallow?

Hi, i did root my phone and install TWRP at one stage but iv just unrooted my phone and uninstalled titanium backup etc, it was the stock rom im running i think, i dont think iv ever installed a custom rom

Yes that is lollipop. It depends on what carrier you're on, which appears to be O2, and it doesn't look like it's getting it yet.

ok im with o2 uk but when i got the phone they said it was open to any network

oi m8! thanks for the help but unfourtunatly i cant unlock the bootloader when i select the device (h815) i get an error saying the device(h815L possibly) isn't supported and does not send me the email and i get 10 times for trying till my account gets blocked... after investegating it was said in the website that h815 thats only EU version... any soulution for that?

Yep, the bootloader unlock from LG is not available for every version of H815... Search the forum about root and bootloader unlock, probably someone with a non-EU version can help you.

You don't have any solution with MM firmware. But if you downgrade to LP, you can get root with the inject method.
You can downgrade with the app LGUP for MS Windows (search more information in this SubForum).
And you can get root with:

Hello, I want to downgrade my LG G4 (Software Version: H81220U) from Marshmallow to Lollipop so that I can root my phone. Could anybody guide me to achieve a downgrade AND a root? My carrier is Telus/Koodo in case it's relevant information.

first you need to nkow if tou can as in some models antirollback changes and makes it imposible to downgrade. so first make sure that antirollback versions they are if the same then you may if different then youll hard brick phone.

Once you've done that, you can install a pre-rooted image (easier) or root your own extracted KDZ. Note: You will not be able to obtain root through any of the Root-Apps - check out the link in the next paragraph for the general how-to for the H812, if you have not already done so.

Once done, because you still will have a locked bootloader, you will not be able to install a regular version of a custom recovery or flash a custom rom (that may come eventually when efidroid is managed to be ported to the locked LG4's). See if you can ... find KDZ's that that are particular to your region in the event there may be differences in bandwidths that are operational, etc.

Yeah could not find specific to koodo Canada. Need to see if its safe to go with something similar to it.
Also I see my current software version is H81220Z. It got updated overnight even though I un-checked to install updates automatically.
Will the LGUP process still work to downgrade?

Koodo is on the ... Telus network. You can use Telus KDZ's (doesn't specifically have to be H81210Z and they seem to be available (check the Canadian Guide) - others have indicated you can use other Canadian providers (read the Canadian guide). I can't confirm this personally.
Use LGUP-NEW for sure as you are less likely to brick from what I understand if an anti-rollback provision has been put in on the latest firmware upgrade.
