[Q] Can you change the touch sound without root? - Verizon Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I know how the touch sound can be changed if the device has root access since the files are located in the system directory. However, is there any way to do it for non-root users?

[Q] A2SD+ Forcing to system memory

hi im using LeeDrOiD_V2.1a_A2SD , is there any way to force apps to be run from the system memory instead of the sdcard, as far as i can tell it automatically goes to the sdcard?
would prefer to use the system memory for security software such as wavesecure?
thanks
John
Yes to run it from the system partition so it can not be removed the regular way, you just have to move the apk file from /sd-ext/app/ to /system/app/
This can be done using adb commands when in recovery or by applying the s-off hack and use an app like root explorer.
thanks
the apk file was in the folder /system/sd/app
and root explorer let me enable r/w access in it, without enabling s-off
i'm hoping i did it right
:-0
thanks again
John
Well you might be able to do it this way without s-off but it is not actually on the system partition. It depends on what Rom you are using.
But are you able to uninstall it using the settings menu?
it still gives me the option to uninstall yes, but at this point i just wanted to get it running off the phones memory, rather than off the sd card
thanks
John
ok it turns out root explorer didn't copy them over, so i copied them over with adb commands , and wavesecure doesn't show up as uninstallable

Click to collapse
yeah, most of the programs out there (like root explorer) won't throw out an error if they can'y mount it as R/W... because HTC was clever enough to hide that it can't be mounted RW without S-off

[Q] Restore Evo startup screen

Is there a way to restore the original Sprint startup screen?
I don't have (nor did I want) the sound that went with it, but here's the original bootanimation zip. Just place it in appropriate path (/system/customize/resource/bootanimation.zip) and check the permissions. (I can't remember what they're supposed to be but 777 should work.)
A lot of people suggest using adb push commands to change boot animations but root explorer with /system mounted r/w works just as well, just don't forget the permissions!
I sorry, but beiong new to this I do not know how to put the file there or set permissions. Thanks in advance!
Do you have Root explorer?
No I do not. I have never heard of it.
you can download it from the market

[Q] app to add/save custom system sounds?

is there one? would be nice to be able to save my default system sounds (clicks/lockscreen etc) then add new ones without the need for a file explorer.

Does anyone know where the System Update apk is located?

I really want to stop the annoying system update notification on my Note 4. I think I could do it if I could find where it keep the actual .apk file. I can change the /system files through adb in recovery. Due to some of the apps I have to use I can't root my phone (titanium backup freeze is out) so I am looking for a way to do it manually.
Thanks!

Is it possible to install an apk directly into the file system without using ADB?

I have here a conference system that is based on Android. Since its functionality is very limited I want to try to modify the system. AFAIK there is no way to access the system configuration nor the file system through the UI of the conference system itself. And I haven't found a way to access the system using ADB yet, neither through USB nor Ethernet.
But: The whole file system is on an SD-Card, so at the moment this is the only way to modify the system.
First thing I would like to do is to change the current launcher (which is mostly an interface for doing conference calls). I located the launcher in the app folder and found the entries in the packages list/xml-file in the systems folder.
My first question is: Where is the setting stored which apk is started as the launcher at the end of the boot process?
Second thing would be of course: Installing other apk. Is that possible, only through access of the file system?`
