I can't speak for PDFs or other documents, but if you download My Roll on your phone (it's a 3rd party gallery app) it's compatible with Android Wear and you can open the app on your watch to view pictures.
Does zooming works?
using Gallery Wear you can sync with your phone gallery... can zoom too.. and delete too... can rotate too...

Did anyone notice that the pictures you take when using instagram are much lower in resolution than the ones you take when using the stock camera?
Unticking the "advanced camera" option under instagram settings doesn't do much since you're gonna have to crop your picture again.
Any thoughts?

Yeah that's instagram for you, the pictures are resized to crap.
or taken in a lower resolution using their 'advanced' camera in part of the app.
Just the way it is.
That's just how Instagram works.

Images are always cropped down within instagram. Even the images you took with the stock camera you upload there. Just take a look into the instagram photo folder on your internal memory. They're all cropped down BADLY.
Thats just how Instagram works. Small images means less traffic and faster loading times. Thats why you cant watch images in full screen within the app either.
Thanks guys, I thought so.. this is getting annoying!

Damn, I wondered how they got the pictures to upload so fast!

Sorry for thread-jacking but is there any way to take pictures with Instagram and not have them uploaded? Many times I just want to make tests and it sucks that I cannot simply choose to save the files to a folder instead of uploading the pictures.
doe anyone else notice that instagram links do not open the instagram app on the HOX? For instance a tweet of the form instagr.am../asdhjd/ would give the option of opening with the instagram app on my SII but on my HOX it just gives the browser option..

Yes, just don't click upload... The pics will be saved in the instagram folder on SD

It does save the photo but it doesn´t apply the instagram effect. It also won´t let me choose the default folder or to set "never upload" as default.

Works for me. Take the photo, apply the effect(s), hit the arrows in the top right to take you to the tagging/upload screen, then just back out again. The processed photo (with effects) will be in the Instagram folder, the unprocessed photo will be in the normal camera photo folder.
Thanks. I didn´t realize it copied the photo with the effect to a different folder. All other photo apps I use automatically copy the photos to the android default photo folder.

Yea, it will copy the untouched photo to the normal photo folder, and the effect photo to the Instagram folder.

I much prefer to take pictures with the stock camera then use instagram to crop and upload, but thats just me.
yeah but wouldn't it be hard to judge how the photos should be taken because only the middle half of the photo will be cropped and uploaded onto instagram.

I believe you need to be connected to the internet to view the photos unless you enable offline viewing in settings of the gallery which will just download them. I don't think you can fit all your photos unfortunately
What does sync do then? ??
have camera and gallery set up to automatically upload to Google Photos when on wi-fi. this works fine: i can see the same images on Photos on my G6 as in a desktop browser, photos.google.com.
but photos.google.com, if i delete a photo, i get a dialogue box -- "Items moved to the bin will be removed from Your Google Photos library, All your synced devices, etc." -- but the photo stays in Google Photos on my G6.
it's as though the phone is synced to upload, but not synced when deleted?
anyone have this issue?

Maybe because it is still in the Gallery App and saved in the device?

dunno what's happening.
- Gallery is showing eight images
- Photos is showing nine images
- photos.google.com is showing six images
i would think that the Photos app and photos.google.com would at least sync, right?
Does anyone have a recommendation on a Gallery app that actually knows what to do with portrait mode pictures? Seems like Google Photos is the only one that knows how to properly categorize/show portrait pictures. Every other gallery app I have used shows every portrait picture and the non portrait picture as it's own album. Clutters up a gallery really quick.
Any suggestions?

I hope this isn't too much off topic but felt like it was worth mentioning. My favorite all time gallery app if one hasn't tried it is Sony's Album app. To me it is hands down the best app when dealing with a lot of photos. There is a universal port here on XDA if anyone is interested, thank you.
just curious - if google photos works, why use anything else?
Sony Album app was always great and has been ported to work on pretty much any android phone

How does it handle pictures taken in portrait mode? Every other gallery app I've used creates a whole album for every portrait picture taken? So far I've only found Google Photos to handle portrait shots correctly.

Hi.
I don't have root. I need to set it up after taking a photo or video, clicking on a photo or video in the camera app to open the photo or video in my own gallery. I use my own application for photos and I use potplayer for videos.
Thanks.

Which camera app are you refering to, miui stock or other? Can you not go into settings/app defaults and alter/clear them from there so that you are prompted next time you click on a photo within the camera app...
I have a stock camera. I don't know where in the settings to do this.

The stock camera app opens recently taken photos in itself (the photos are opened in the Camera app, not the stock Gallery app or something else), and it doesn't provide an option to open them in neither the stock Gallery app, nor your own gallery app of your choice.
If you'd like the Camera app to open those photos in the stock Gallery or an app of your choice, post a suggestion to Xiaomi to add this feature to the stock Camera app.
(And just to clear any confusion, this has nothing to do with app defaults, like the ones that ask you whether to open YouTube links in the browser, or the YouTube app)
