I dont know if this happened to my phone before root or after root + custom rom.

Hi, If you installed a custom ROM, your 3-dot menu should be disabled and the menu key is remapped to recent key (The last touch key on your phone under the screen)
And to repair it you probably have a tweak section on your ROM (based on j4n87 tweaks) go to the tweaks and change it back

Home key doesn't work

Hello everyone,
I have just flashed new CM10 Alpha 6 ROM on my HTC One X, and since then, my home key is not working any more.
The button itself works (ie lights up, you can press it and feel vibration feedback) but there is no action.
- I haven't installed soft key enabler or disabler or anything similar
- I have tried switching "Enable custom actions" on and off with various settings, but nothing changes with the home key. The changes are applied to long press right key (I have tried to set it to search - it works, set it to none - works too), but whatever I set for Home key, there are no changes in behavior
Anybody has similar issues? Can somebody help?
Thanks
did u try any other ROM after this to check if home button is working or not?
To get better help try to post this in the CM10 thread itself

I ended up reinstalling the ROM, it worked right after that.
I then realized it was maybe Titanium restore that screwed it up, so I did a selective restore of system app data instead of restore all that I did initially.
It works now!
Thank you for your suggestions

[Q] Long Press Volume to Toggle Music

I see that custom roms are starting to include the "Long Press of Volume buttons to Toggle Music" option. Can anyone create a flashable zip for just this option or list the change I need to make in order to accomplish this? I have tried editing the generic.kl along with some other things but nothing works. I like the stock OTA JB rom and would rather not flash a custom one just to get this function.
Seriously? Nothing from anybody? I know I can't be the only one who wants this mod. Anybody know of an app that will do the same thing or at least close?

Try the morphology thread in my sig, if you follow the instructions there you should get it up without changing your rom

[Q] Change hardware keys function

Hello,
The back button of my phone is broken and doesn't work anymore.
So I want to change the search key to be the back key and vice versa.
Can anyone provide me a flashable zip or is that impossible?
I don't really have the skills to pull it, edit the file and then push it back to my phone
I already tried the app button remapping but it doesn't seem to work.
.
Thanks in advance,
Rsdf430.
Go to system>usr>keylayout and modify bravo-keypad.kl as you wish. Root explorer recommended.
Reboot required
Could tell you...
Hello, are you using a custom ROM? or rooted?... I could tell you if you are using the same/similar ROM as I am...I think i had the option to change hardware keys.

How do I make a flashable zip?

I have a some settings and a few apps I'd like to have immediately at first boot. Most importantly, I have a horrible case of the soft key ghost problem, so the first thing I do after installing or updating a ROM is: turn on airplane mode, install UDN lite to add on-screen soft keys, disable the soft keys by editing /system/usr/keylayout/Sec_touckey.kl, then reboot.
So, is there a guide on how to create a zip to flash these things? Is it different from phone to phone or ROMs?

I saw that but never actually looked at the linked threads. Didn't know they were compatible with this phone or Kit Kat.

For the Java tool, "Ability to restore data along with apps" is in the to-do list. I need to restore UDN Lite with its data. As for the Windows tool, I don't see any mention of flashing app data.
