Ok was using 5.0.2 alpha. but had cell call drops so moved back to 4.4.4 CM11 rom rebooted after flashing... and now phone doesn't wanna boot back on its just black screen. if anyone has anyinfo how to repair would be great
Did you wipe cache, data, and Dalvik after installing cm11?
Yup i did a fresh clean, wiped everything and then installed cm11 and did a cache/dalvik after install, then put gapps and did a cache/dalvik again and rebooted
once rebooted the phone never turned on again
You mean your phone doesn't turn on at all?
nope must of bricked ive flashed roms lots of times and never had issues
What exactly did you flash?
No lights when you plug the phone into a charger or computer?
I flashed CM11 with ShiftKernal. and gapps and no theres nothing i get a detection on windows but its a hard brick thing its weird how going from 5.0.2 back to 4.4.4 would do this
I wouldn't think flashing cm11, gapps, and a kernel would brick the phone.
Excuse my ignorance but the shift kernel is for cm11 on the i747? Did you do flash or touch the bootloader?

Agree with @audit13 here...
Isn't the shift kernel for AOSP KK ROMS on i777/959G?
Which version of shift kernel did you flash? If you flashed Shift-D2-SE.zip that's for lollipop...
If you flash CM11 and Gapps without flashing shift kernel, does it boot?
I went from CM11 nightly to 5.0.2 then back to CM11 without any issues last week.
nope inless flashing lollipop alpha changed the bootloader some how then. and ya the shift kernel is for i747 too
Is the kernel designed for cm11? I see a shift kernel in for Cyanide 5.02 but not sure if it is for cm11: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3-att/development/rom-cyanide-l-v1-android-5-0-2-t2980174
I doubt the ROM would have altered the bootloader as doing so would or could cause all sorts of problems for the end user.
Which 5.0 ROM did you flash?

Ahh.. didn't know they had one for i747.
Depends on the ROM but usually doesn't touch bootloader/baseband...
Can you get into download/recovery mode?
well my bad i flashed s2 shift kernel. and hard bricked my device
Maybe this de-brick thread will help: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2549068

Can you get into download or recovery mode?
Volume down + home + power or Volume up + home + power? (with the phone off)
Nope i tryed the debrick its not good for 4.4
You had the 4.4.2 bootloader on your phone?
From my understanding the phone boots from an sdcard so a 4.3 debrick image may work. I'm just guessing as I don't have an s3.

I flashed this ROM from the 4.4 KitKat rom because that Rom wasn't very good for daily use, now when I boot I just get a black screen. I can still boot into cwm.

Alright. I know it's dumb to reply to this old thread, but I tried the rom in your link and it works so far. I had CyanogenMod for a while but that broke snapchat so I decided I'd try your ROM. I flashed it like 20 minutes ago. We'll see how it goes Thus far I am overwhelmed by the amount of features this ROM has.
Hi all,

why don't you try twrp 2.6.3.2?there's not a big difference between 2.6.3.2 or 2.7 which will affect the ROM flashing so if one recovery doesn't work for you go back to the previous working version

Yeah singhpratik87..you are right, I was just going to say that 2.6.3.2 is the one that worked with me..just flashed it now and it worked. One thing happened to me now though is after flashing the ROM I got stuck at the Samsung logo..rebooted into recovery and did a wipe cache + wipe dalvik and still it's stuck...not sure what is wrong here

Enjoy :good:
So I had 4.4 stock TouchWiz, then installed TWRP recovery and CM11. Then I wanted back to stock again but TWRP doesn't seem to want to flash anything. It just says Failed. Tried wiping everything, ended up wiping the OS... just trying to get stock back going.
You have the i747 or i747m?
Twrp cannot flash a stock ROM unless that ROM was compiled to be flashed in twrp.
If you have the 4.3 or 4.4.2 bootloader, do not attempt to downgrade the bootloader.
What bootloader is on your phone?

Sorry, i747 AT&T version.
How do I tell which bootloader I have? When I try to boot it looks stock, just stays on the s3 logo. When I boot into download mode it's a Cyanogen guy.
Last working version of ROM I had was TouchWiz-based 4.1. I found on here but I did have CM11 and stock 4.4. before that.
Did you update your phone via OTA to get to 4.4.2? It's important to know so we can give guidance in terms of what can and cannot be flashed to your phone.
What cyanogen guy do you see in download? You mean the green Android dude?
Do this: copy CM10.2 to your external SD card, boot into TWRP and flash the ROM from the external SD card. If the flash is successful but the ROM gets stuck at the boot animation, boot into TWRP and wipe the cache, dalvik, and reboot.
Sorry for such a late reply! Been messing with other stuff lately, not enough time for my phone..
Anyhow,

Yes, I did update to 4.4.2 OTA.
When I boot into download it says bootloader rp swrev 3. When I said earlier I thought I had the cyanogen guy when booting into download mode I had it wrong. Download mode is still just the Android guy. I was talking about recovery which I have TWRP, with the Cyanogen guy (?).
When I just try to reboot the phone regularly it gets stuck on the SIII logo.
I tried installing CM10 like you said from my SD card and the install fails.
Any other ideas of what I can try?
Thanks!!
OK I installed CM11 and that's working.
At least I have a working ROM.
Originally the only reason I tried going back to stock from CM11 was so that I could have access to Galaxy Apps for my Gear 2.
I will fool with going back to stock later possibly.
Thanks again for your help, audit13.

Not related to your original post but if you dig enough you can probably find a form of Galaxy Apps that'll work on CM11! Or you could possibly rip the APK and get it to work.
This may work for you, but I don't own a Gear 2 so I'm not 100% sure.

I did the ofe update, then the v kernel root, then twisted rom and now the phone seems pretty bricked. It will take a flash of anything 5.1.1 (of7 stock, and twisted thru twrp) but both result in booting to a black screen with the blue led pulsing.
this doesn't seem good.
i have tried every combination of kernel's and recoveries and roms available here and they all do the same thing.
it was running great for a few days until a reboot happened and its been a no boot since then.

Oh, well it seemed to me from your post that you only tried flashing through recovery. If you can't flash a stock rom through odin and download mode, you are probably bricked...

The good news is if you can still flash and get into download mode it is not a brick. I would odin the tar as suggested, it should boot once that is done.
Make sure you're giving it enough time on the first boot as well, it takes awhile to build the caches on the first boot.
Is the OH1 bootloader compatible with custom roms that require nd8?
I want to put Wicked S5 Xperience on my SIII but it says must have nd8 bootloader and I did the ota to OH1 and rerooted w/ twrp and supersu.

Hey all,
Answered my own question. Successfully installed wicked s5 xperience 2.2 (wih requires nd8) without a hitch. basically I followed the step by step with exception to. I used twrp... wich they dont support. I did a dirty flash... worked fine but all my old settings were still there, So I did a Proper clean flash and all is good. Way better modem.... than OH1. I have signal and data in places I used to not get.
Hope this helps anyone else.
I have a question, how did you go about installing a custom ROM with OH1.
I can't seem to use Odin to install TWRP. It says success but when I try to 'adb reboot recovery', it just goes to the stock recovery. Any idea on how to install a custom recovery?

Did you
Hold power button to turn off your S3, after it turns off about 10 seconds later it will turn back on to the battery charging screen so before that quickly hold Volume+ and Home, to boot into recovery.
I got from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2787771
If odin says success it should boot to twrp.
Once I was in twrp I just installed my downloaded ROM. You probably will want to do a wipe first to have a clean flash.

I ended up having to do that. For some reason Odin wasn't kicking me into recovery so I had to boot into recovery myself. Another issue that I noticed was that TWRP couldn't root stock firmware. It would install SuperSU but wouldn't install the su binary. I ended up just installing AICP.
Thanks for the help.
