AFTV Netflix and Prime problems - Fire TV Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone gotten word from Amazon about the extremely buggy prime service and Netflix apps? For a long time I thought it was just me, but then I bought another aftv and it's actually worse than before.
Today prime stopped working (nothing new) but clear data and unplugging didn't fix it right away as usual.
Most people complain about the Netflix "unable to play video" issue but yesterday myself and others reported the tiny video screen in the upper left corner.
A reboot fixes just about all the problems but I reboot both these aftvs way more than anyone should.
I'm just wondering if anyone's heard if Amazon's trying to fix the problems or even acknowledg ing there is one? I've grown so accustomed to these issues that I start with a reboot before using my bedroom aftv. That one is WiFi, not sure if that makes it more prone to the issues. And if I fall asleep without the aftv sleeping, when I wake up I can guarantee Netflix and prime won't work.
I'm debating if it's worth calling Amazon.
BTW--I'm reading bad reviews Netflix on playstore. Maybe Amazon's not totally the one to blame but I've used the service on many devices with no serious problems.

I have zero problems. Netflix, Prime, Kodi, Youtube, ... everything and anything I've tried on my unrooted Fire TV.
Could it be network or ISP related? It's odd that it's both Netflix and Prime giving you trouble...

I've considered all of the above but I'm not the only one reporting these very specific issues. If I had to guess, this is software related. Something about streaming services and android--I've been using them since 2006 and never had issues like this. I say android because reading reviews for both Netflix and Amazon instant video apps on playstore, it seems lots of people are complaining. I don't think that's typical. When it comes to these types of services, for me they've just always worked.

Netflix failure to stream...Virtuous Unity 2.3.9?

Running two Incredible 2's. One stock ROM, one VU2.3.9.
Netflix app loads fine on both. Stock phone streams just fine. VU phone get the following error message when you go to play:
"Sorry we could not reach the Netflix service. Please try again later. If the problems persist please visit the Netflix website (11000)."
I've reloaded, but not help. Side by side, one works the other does not. Is this due to my ROM or something else?
I just re-installed an old VU ROm copy and it now seems to work on that. I'd still like to troubleshoot what was wrong before. Install and re-install the app had no effect.
Never had that problem on VU myself.
I sometimes get errors on Netflix, but I think it's an issue on their end, not the phone.
Runs fine for me on 2.39.
I had it randomly crap out on me on MIUI for about 2 days, then it was back to normal- I agree, it might be an issue on their end.
the only problem with netflix on my VU 2.3.9 is that I can't get it to work on wifi, netflix would automatically signed me off and display an error about my device has been removed from netflix, but it work just fine when i turned on the 3G and leave wifi off.

YouTube stops playing on longer videos

I've had this issue on every touchwiz based rom I've run. I would guess that most of the time I can watch a video that's as long as about 2 minutes most times. If it's longer than that I'll usually make it about 50% of the way through the video. When I was running cm7 on this phone I didn't have the problem. I've tried searching bit my terms seem pretty vague and I can't really find anyone else having the problem, or any solutions.
Anyone else ever experience this kind of trouble with the YouTube app? I'm currently on the latest blazer rom but have also tried Caulkilins (I never know how to spell it or pronounce it...but you know which rom I mean ;-) )
Thanks

Had this problem with the Evo and Evo 3d. Also got it on this phone stock when I first bought it. Somehow it just went away since I've flashed Calk's. I think its a problem with YouTube itself.
Epic-ly tapped from my Galaxy S II
I never really had this problem. Hopefully you find a solution.
Lately YouTube app freezes on videos and on epic 4 it foreclose altogether now

It doesn't fc, it just stops playing. I just tried to watch a 3 minute video and the (god forbid) a 10 minute. Nope. Not even close to 2 minutes in on either. Is YouTube that bad now? I don't seem to have this much trouble on my PCs,though I do occasionally have some.
This REALLY bothers me. But others are able to watch videos no problem, eh? This isn't an epidemic ....
Really weird. :-(

Are you on the latest Youtube version?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1524351
Try that if not. Once again good luck on the find.
I've been on every single rom. I never had this issue. Are you using ics leak or gb el29? Also do you have good data speeds or a reliable wifi at your house? And did you update your flash player via market?

I'm in your boat my dude. My youtube will just stop playing randomly. It could be 3 mins or 10 mins into the video and it just stops. It really started annoying me until I realized that it was an automatic pause. So I when I touched the screen, it would resume. I don't think anyone is working on a fix though with it being a seemingly small issue.
Mi nuh tek intimidation
I was complaining about this to someone at work the other day...and when I went to show them, it worked fine. I SWEAR I've had this problem at work..but maybe I got my facts confused and just didn't look @ youtube at work beause I didn't want anyone to see how flawed my awesome device was.
tried a few more....everything was good.
Go home....no go. So now I'm wondering if it's my old Linksys WRT54Gv8 running DD-WRT. I upgraded the firmware to the newest stable (mine was from 2008 and upgraded to one that is late 2009). No Luck.
at work I was on wifi also, so...it's not the phone's WiFi.
it works better on 3/4g but freakin wifi should rule them all. my cable is fast as F and other devices in the house don't have issues...weird, eh?
OK so this is a troubleshooting thread at this point. It's a problem with my home wireless.
I tried upgrading the firmware on my DD-wrt router and I think I bricked it. Oh well. It had a decent life. The firmware was from early 2008 and I don't remember when I got it.
So I got a new Linksys/Cisco e3000 and set it up. It doesn't hand out IP addresses or anything. All it does is share my internet connection. Dhcp and DNS is handled by my old windows 2003 domain controller. I get an IP and all seems fine but I've done quite a bit of testing tonight and wireless is slower to begin things (like market, YouTube, etc) than 4g.
My speed test results are great thoughf on wireless. Like....stupid fast. Almost as fast as my connection is. ~25mb.
The initial post was obviously about YouTube and what I'm seeing is on Wi-Fi a video will cache up much faster but it stops at some point. When the playing video reaches that point the video stops and will not start again. When I watch a video on 4g it caches up more slowly, staying just ahead of what's playing. On the rare instance that it catches up I'll get the spinning circle for a second or 200 and it'll start playing again.
The behavior is quite different and I'm not sure what would cause it.
Hoping someone might have some insight here or suggestions .....pretty irritating to not be able to enjoy this awesome phone as much at home as I can at work. I have a lot more time to f off on my phone @ home.
For my home wifi I got the Asus n56u, and also bought a range extender that plugs into an outlet. I have had no connectivity issues and setup was a breeze. Its either your router or your service at this point.

i'm having the same f***ed up issue. after playing vids for 5 mins, it stops suddenly. and its annoying as f** !!! theres got to be a solution to this.
My setup is just overly complicated. I had a 2003 domain controller that does dhcp and DNS, then goes through a virtual machine of a Linux firewall called Untangle. The VM was running within a 2008 server who was also supposed to be a domain controller.
I hated 2008 and wanted to go to R's anyway so I demoted the 2008 server blew away the old untangle install and just started over with 2008r2. Also upgraded from the old free vmware server client (no longer available or supported) and went to vmware workstation and now everything is working great.
I doubt you have the same things.....but....I don't think it was a problem with android or YouTube, but its still weird that no other devices at my house had this problem ....

[Q] VUDU Movies and TV APP not working

After installing the App and restarting, uninstalling and reinstalling a few times still not working. I can launch the App just fine browse the collection but once you load your Movie it will launch like it's about to Play but won't. The Vudu Movies and TV screen will show and then will sign me out of the login. Anyone else use this App or have issues.
I didn't know I had an issue until I read this post. I checked it out on my phone, and Video is not playing. It starts loading and the the app restarts.

I have the same issue as well. Usually don't watch movies on my phone but just tried and it doesn't work. Hmm.
Sprint G4.
I contacted VUDU about the issue and this was their reply:
Hello,
*
We are currently experiencing issues with the Lollipop software. It appears that the issue is affecting playback on all devices with this software, due to a clash between the software and our VUDU app. We are actively working on a release that will remedy this bug for our customers.
*
I have done some playing around with the app and noticed that after a few tries, it will eventually work for me. I also noticed, when I un-installed and re-installed the app, I had success with playback the first few tries. Nonetheless, there is an issue with the app that we’re looking to resolve. Just wanted to supply a bit of feedback from my personal experience.
*Vudu support
So, it looks like there's a bug, they're aware of, and working on it. Until a fix is found, playback will be hit and miss.

Ok good to know I have 2 G4 and both have that issue but didn't have another phone with Lollipop software besides them . I'm on Tmobile I haven't forced tried it though. Flixter App works fine though.
my other issue is Netflix now. Phone #1 worked with Wifi calling Phone #2 doesn't after go back and forth between Netflix and Tmobile and did everything we can think of still nothing now Phone #1 doesn't work either with Wifi calling.
It does work with Wifi calling but it has to be set to Cell instead of Wifi Preferred (unless no cell service) option. Which is stupid since it worked before and on my Note 2. Tmobile then tried to say something about the Wifi calling feature demands more data or something and that's why. After Master resetting phone's etc a few times I find the issue to be when you first Log in to Netflix and Google Services wants a update. Since it did work on both after the Master resets but it will force the update on it's own.
I wasn't aware of the lollipop issue with VUDU, but like mentioned by BDestroyer8418, Flixster does work.
I double checked on the Netflix, and that plays fine as well.
As long as I was checking on these, I went ahead and verified HBO Go, Showtime Anytime, EPIX, the CW, and FXNow. All seem to play fine.
I rarely watch any of the services on my phone, since I usually just push to the Chromecast. So, as long as that all works, I will be content (until VUDU comes up with a solution).
LG-VS986
Netflix starts video playback almost immediately on my wifi. So, I don't have an issue there.
I can still use vudu with my phone and chromecast without issue, so at least there's that.

The problem is Tmobile Wifi Calling for Netflix. I'm not not sure if other carriers offer that feature Tmobile has. They add it in Tmobile software on Devices. They might have it but not sure you guy's would know for sure.
For Vudu doesn't seem like it matter's what Carrier your own most likely No unless you can force it work temp til they update it. Since Tmobile, Sprint and Verizon users reported the same Restart Loop.
Sprint has wifi calling, but it doesn't matter if I have it on or not, I have no issues with Netflix. So it may be just isolated to t-mobile.

So after looking around some more I found this http://www.reddit.com/r/LGG3/comments/32kowb/tmobile_lg_g3_lollipop_with_wifi_calling/
Looks like same issue on Tmobile LG G3 on Lollipop with the Netflix problem with Wifi Calling. This is most likely Tmobile problem then ? Something in the Wifi Calling feature.

Anyone else find streaming video's to be almost impossible on the Pixel XL?

I just got the XL after having the iPhone for about 6 months, I was with the Galaxy phones before that and this seems to be the first phone I've ever had this issue with. When streaming on Facebook, Youtube or pretty much any online streaming video it just seems to constantly need to buffer. I don't remember ever having this issue with any other phone but it's very annoying. Anyone else experience this, have any fixes?
It happens on Wifi and LTE.
I am having no problem at all with Google play movies, vudu, Netflix and Amazon. I use WiFi with a 5.4 ghz connection to a linksys Wrt1900ac hooked to a 200 megabit connection. No root or rom, I am not even unlocked, Pixel XL 128gb.

I haven't had any issues. YouTube, Facebook, Snapchat no issues.

Your annoyance describes the reason why i installed a network monitor to see traffic flow.
The only time i experience an issue with all sites is on crappy work wifi.
ProjectFI is runs fine.
Very well at home on mesh.
Maybe test to see if other bulk data transfer issues have the same problem
No issues streaming here either. Everything works fine when the connection is good.
As mentioned above, install a traffic monitor. When your buffering the video, take note of down speed. realistically, anything above 250kbps should be able to stream video.
Since you noted that it happens on your cellular network as well as wifi, i would suggest *not a factory reset* But a full factory image flash if possible.
If you have root, try installing the lspeed app (in play store) and using the network and buffer tweaks and see if they help. if using a custom kernel, change the congestion algorithm to stock (i use westwood)

Galaxy A50 WiFi issue and downgrading

Hey so I've been having this issue with my Galaxy A50 where the wifi would keep hiccuping in a constant pattern, this is very noticeable when I try to stream games using either Steam Link or Moonlight, the wifi would cut for like a split second each 5 ish seconds. I did however find a workaround, and that it so enable and disable airplane mode, it would completely fix the hiccups.
So today, I regretted updating my phone so much (7th of July update), because now, the hiccups are back and they are more constant than ever. The trick I'd use to make the wifi stable no longer works, I need to keep airplane mode enabled at all times to avoid these hiccups.
I would like one of either solutions: can I fix this issue once and for all, because it's supper annoying, I tried removing my sim cards and all but the issue persists, if there is no fix for this, then I'd like to revert to the previous version I had, I have already downloaded the files from Sammobile, but I'm worried that it would brick my phone or even refuse to install period, here's the ROM that I'd like to install:
https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-a50/firmware/SM-A505FN/SER/download/A505FNPUS5BTF1/347209/
I've explained this issue a bit better on the steam forums, so I'm gonna copy what I typed there;
Thank you very much in advance.
Okay so, recently I got a brand new Galaxy A50 phone, and whenever I'd try to stream games (over local network using WiFi) I'd get frequent and consistent hiccups that last about a split second each 3 seconds ~, I suspected that the issue could be from my phone being faulty or whatever, but I tried my brother's phone which is the same as mine, but the issue persisted.
On very rare occasions, the hiccups would not occur and the stream would be absolutely perfect, so I know for sure it might not be a hardware issue and that a stutter free experience is possible for sure, however I have no clue how to keep it consistent.
Mind you I have tried many other devices, my old Galaxy S5 and S6, even tried a Huawei phone and an Oppo phone and they all seem to work just fine, I even tried different streaming services like Parsec, TeamViewer, Moonlight etc... So the issue is certainly not my network as it is working just fine with other devices.
The A50 is a pretty popular mid-range phone so I'd expect at least someone to use Steam link (or similar apps) on it and experience this problem, yet I haven't found a single post about this issue online, the only thread that pops up is another one of mine related to this issue (on Reddit).
Can anybody help me come up with a solution? I tried quite literally everything I can, including updating my OS and all of my apps.
Thank you in advance
