[Q] wifi refuses to turn off - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The WiFi on my phone refuses to turn off. Even when it is toggled off in settings, it still appears as on when checking in battery history. This problem persists over multiple roms as well (RR & darkobas), and is causing huge battery drain. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

All wifi and data disconnects when screen is off but only below 50% battery?

Hey guys I have searched and searched for a remedy for my problem, first off here is what I am running on my i9250:
ROM: Beanstalk 1.190
Kernel: KUBO-AK r46
Baseband: I9250UGLL1
Now the problem is this, all data (wifi and cell data) randomly disconnects when my battery is anywhere lower than 50% and gets increasingly annoying the lower it gets. I do not have any powersaving features enabled and yes I have changed the advanced settings in Wifi (Keep wifi on during sleep: checked to Always, Avoid poor connections: Unchecked, wifi freq band: 2.4ghz only, wifi optimization: unchecked; i guess that is a powersaving feature as well)
Still the problem persists. The other problem is, it happens to my cell data as well, when I wake the phone up (when it is under 50% or so) I see that only then the cell data starts to reconnect, and then I get all my whatsapp messages and emails all at once. (same goes with the wifi) Keep in mind though, when I have the phone plugged in and charging the wfi or cell data are active when the screen is switched off. The problem only occurs when the battery is below 50%.
Is there anything I can do about this, it gets really annoying because I have to wake the phone up and keep the screen on, in order to get messages. I know there is a widget that keeps the wifi active regardless of the battery level, but what about the phone data when I am out and about. I need to stay connected especially with emails and whatsapp because that is how clients stay in contact with me and it sucks when they send messages and I get nothing and they have to wait for me to check or wake up my phone for the data connection to re-establish whether it be on wifi or data.
Anyone knows how to fix this problem?
No one?
Have you tried changing your kernel? Sometime kernels can have weird affects on your device.
İ think this is one of kernel problems. Battery section is controlling by kernel. Find a kernel and use smartassv2 with sio.
Yes, I swapped around a few kernels and same effect. I really am at a loss.

Click to collapse
it happens to me as well, not sure about the 50%, but when I am at home with 3G and wifi on very often if i turn on the phone the signal bars are grey and not blue and it seems that connectionwas lost during sleep and is being turned on again
btw, I am on stock 4.2.2
Try to format /system. And reflash. İf its not work, flash stock rom and flash custom rom. İm not sure if it will work.
Believe me, I have tried every wipe and every rom/kernel combo that is humanly possible
Then problem is hardware thats what I thought. Unfortunately. Technical support helps.

wifi bug worsen...

I have always had the wifi bug on my phone. On the latest fw 4.1.2 and still bugged. It's the drop i speed and the phone gets unresponsive when the internet connection is somewhat gone... I have to turn wifi off and on again to fix it.
I found sort of solution to it when i chose the option in settings that the wifi is turned off when in standby. And the when i woke the phone i could see a message in the bottom that said that wifi is connected.
But now i never get that message and it seems that wifi is always connected... How can i fix this? Is it an app that i causing this? That keeps the wifi connection on at all times?

[Q] Wifi always on

I've been having some ongoing issues with a replacement phone I received Monday, 10/2. Specifically with WiFi always being on, even when its not supposed to be. Attached are some screen shots that I hope, show what I'm talking about. I've tried various kernals, but the problem seems to remain. When I do have the Wifi enabled and connected to my Wireless, my signal is crap. I've been in the *#0011# menu and turned off WiFi Power Save mode(yes I know the screen shot shows its on). I do have a dual band wireless system and have tried disabling the 5ghz band, assigning a static IP, and have tested with other wifi systems. Only consistent is my phone.
I am on 4.3 MJB Bootloader, Modem, OS from upndwn4par. I have tried other variations of modems, OS's, and kernals. I'm thinking this phone is just fubar'd somehow (It is a refurb ) but wanted to get some other suggestions.
I also have very bad battery drain, which I didn't have in my original phone. Im hoping the battery drain is caused by whatever is keeping my WiFi on.
EDIT: After more searching I found in the WiFi settings menu to disable "Always Allow Scanning". Stopped the WiFi from being on. Still hasn't changed the severe battery drain or weak signal

Android OS wakelock battery drain - WiFi issue [CM11]

I bought a Tab Pro 8.4 and decided to install Cyanogenmod 11 on it (currently on M12).
When I check my Battery usage under Settings after leaving it alone for several hours, "Android OS" is shown to be using over 60%. I tried using the Wakelock Detector app, and that didn't show any rogue apps. The "total wake time" in WD also closely matches the "keep awake" time for Android OS in Settings>Battery. There's even been a few times that my device didn't go into deep sleep at all.
Restarting the device didn't help as the problem would come back after an hour. I've tried several fixes including turning off auto-sync, using Greenify to freeze apps, and wiping my external SD card. None of them worked, but now I think I've found the source of the problem.
If I turn off wi-fi, "Android OS" no longer shows up at the top of my Battery page. Turn wi-fi back on and the problem comes back. Turning sync off doesn't change anything, so it seems like the issue is with the wi-fi itself and not with syncing apps. I even went into advanced Wi-Fi settings and changed it to 'turn off wi-fi during sleep' and still had the battery drain (though not as much - around 30% but still more than anything else). Changing the "Wi-fi Optimization" setting doesn't do anything either. I do notice sometimes when using my tablet that I don't have as many bars (on the wi-fi symbol in the status bar) as I do on my phone.
Does anyone have experience with this wi-fi issue? My GS3 doesn't do this. I assume that the problem is that my tablet device has a bad wi-fi connection and is always scanning or something, but I have no idea where to go from here.
EDIT: I might try downgrading to a previous milestone of CM11. I was reading in another thread how some other people were having wifi issues on M12 as well. My GS3 has been stuck on M10 because later updates broke stuff, so I'll try M10 on my tablet.

[BUG] Hotspot disconnections, automatic screen lock, and periodic WiFi switching

Hi!
I'm on stock OOS 4.0.3, unrooted. I've noticed a lot of people facing hotspot disconnections even when a device is connected.
I figured out the cause to be the WiFi which periodically switches on, connects to any network if available (in my case my home WiFi), and switches off automatically after about 10-15 seconds. If a hotspot was on, it is turned off and doesn't turn back on.
The only option for me was to resort to using USB tethering. Also, I'm sure it isn't due to any third party application.
Has anyone found a solution to this?
Also, my device suddenly locks itself and asks for password/fingerprint even when I'm using it! Any reports of this happening to others?
Thanks!
