Hi!
I'm currently running an ICJ jellybean rom on my htc one x and I'd like to revert everything to stock because I'm having hardware issues with the screen(dead rectangular strip in the middle) and I want to send the phone for repairs.
I know that there are multiple guides for this but I can't seem to find the information I need.
Phone info:
hboot version: 1.12
version-main: 2.17.169.3
cid: VODAP120
i can't find the proper RUU, i think that it hasn't been released yet
So you have updated your boot? If you did that You're unable to go back to stock (for the moment)

Is it possible to go back to stock without it?
no, you need that RUU
Is HTC willing to repair hardware issues on phones under warranty even if the software on the phone is not stock?
EDIT: I'm having this exact problem with my screen: youtube.com/watch?v=v_NimKBfqFk

sometimes it will, sometimes not...you have to complain very hard with them
I take it you don't have a backup of stock to restore?
You'll have to find one, maybe somebody else has a backup. Worth asking in the Endeavor ROM Collection thread, which should be sticky in the dev section (search first).

I can't post in that thread because I don't have 10 posts yet so I decided to bump this thread.
I'm not sure that I understand step 2 in that guide, what rom.zip should I download?
Also, while searching the internet for the past two hours I found this: putlocker.com/file/9762632C5E34C557 and this putlocker.com/file/CA32250718BC0CC5 . Is it helpful?

Nevermind, I have extracted the rom zip from the RUU I posted above and then I used this guide to get back to stock and it worked. I now have ICS again, I've relocked the bootloader, installed stock recovary and an OTA update to 4.04 version, but I still have one problem, when I enter the stock recovery a red triangle is visible and I have to push vol+ and the power button to enter the menu. Is there a way to remove the red triangle?
I have hboot 1.28 and the device is S-ON. Can I install Custom jelly bean and then go back to stock to get an OTA update when it comes on my device?
I checked, there is a RUU available for my device too, but i'm confused as some people say the updated hboot wont let you go back.
also, can i just make a nandroid back up and restore from it regardless of hboot, s-on or the RUU availability?
Hi,
Having gone into hboot for the first time i notice that both radio and OpenDSP have "INVALID-VER-INFO" beside them.
Is this correct on an unmodified phone.
I've done a quick search but couldnt find anything.
I have hboot version 3.16.0.000
I have this also,
I'm using a stock htc one m8 from Vodafone.
The os is: os-1.54.161.5. Boot dated Mar 22 2014,00:08:55.0

also have this gonna try rolling back roms thru twrp backup to see if anything related to latest rom flashed will report back
Any updates on this topic? I just bought this phone and been using it for about 2 weeks. I went into the HBOOT to see what differences there were from my previous phone and noticed the invalid version on the radio and opendsp. Again, completely stock unmodified phone.
That is the TWRP recovery bug..are u all install the twrp recovery or not?
Edit: I read it again,so u all using stock rom,Idk what caused it now

I just went into recovery for the first time on my new m8 stock and unmodified. I see the same thing. I'm in T-Mobile
Same thing here. Happened after 4.4.3 update. Stock international M8. I wonder if it has anything to do with the battery drain introduced with the update - I barely get 12 hours of usage hence, instead of 18.

Hi Guys,
which firmwares do you have. I'm running 2.22.401.4 in bottloader the hboot entries are the following:
CID-HTC__102
HBoot-3.18.0.0000
Radio-1.19.21331147A1.09G
OpenDSP-v38.2.2-00542-M8974.0311
Even after performing s-off they didn't change

HTCOne M8 Gunmetal: Sunshine S-Off, firmware stock 2.22.401.4, rooted with Chainfire SuperSu, CID HTC__102

Thanks i also went S-Off over the weekend (sunshine) but hadn't noticed the radio and stuff had changed
hi guys,
first off, thanks to everyone contributing to this forum, I've been able to find some truly useful help in here
Has anyone found a solution to this thread? My m8 has just changed for no apparent reason to "invalid-ver-info". I don't know how important the RADIO AND OpenDSP info is when it comes to un/re-rooting.
As it happens, I did take a photo of this info the day before it happened with my M7 ..will that be of any use to me?
Also, what information from the boot or software info, should NOT be shown on the internet E.G due to privacy/security reasons.
Thanks
TW

you can post fastboot getvar all (minus your Serial no. and IMEI)
nothing on the bootloader is secret
as said above. You need to provide more information to solve your issue.
ok, well here's what I have for you..if you need anything else, please tell me(see attached).
I was thinking about setting this back to stock rom, but I can't seem to find in here...do I have any possibilities?
thanks

Does the phone work ? do you have stock recovery ? Have you do a normal factory reset ?
yes the phone works but not the top speaker(for what ever reason) Hence I want to send it in for repair(if possible, still 18 months guaranty).
I don't believe I have a stock recovery(I'm too new to this game to really know), there is a twrp backup, but whether it's the original or not(I doubt it) because nothing changed as far as the boot or software/firmware version is concerned when I executed the recovery(only the basic content) and the date of the backup is just one week prior to when I purchased it!?!? which makes me believe that the original was overwritten.
no I haven't, the reset was apparently done by the seller.

Well if you have TWRP you can try a format data, But this will completely wipe the phone all your data and the system will be gone.
you would then flash a stock Rom back to the phone from the ext_sd card
To find the correct stock rom you need your phones basic info from fastboot getvar all
you can post the results here but exclude your serial no. and IMEI
I've Htc One M8 with CID: HTC__332 and MID: 0P6B16000. I was testing some rooting methods and in doing so I lost my stock recovery which is version 1.12.599.20. though I've successfully get S-ON, Locked, Tampered Removed but I've some below issues:
1. I'm not getting OTA for 1.54 or else which has extreme power mode etc
2. how to get back my stock recovery for 1.12.599.20
3. how to get OTA file for version 1.12.599.20
4. I am in Kuwait and here LTE band is 1800 whereas my mobile band is 700/aws/2600 so is there any way that I can use LTE in Kuwait?
5. how to change the whole version mean any intl build apart from 1.12.599.20
I'm really tired, but correct me if I'm wrong, 1.54 doesn't have extreme power saver, it was just some radio updates and technical mumbo jumbo, once again correct me if I'm wrong I was just browsing before bed

"Not getting" as in it doesn't appear at all, or "not getting" as in it won't install properly? It doesn't really matter, however, as it won't install unless you have a stock recovery. It's also possible whatever other changes you've made to the system partition would block the OTA.

I doubt you'll be able to ota with 1.54 installed as I don't think that is stock on your device. You can install 1.54.401.10 from the stock backup thread but don't expect to be able to install future ota's.
1. no it is not appearing at all
2. in Stock collection thread, there is no recovery for my version: 1.12.599.20 and I also tried many other but all failed

If it's not appearing at all, don't panic. It might just not be available for your specific device. That's not a cause for concern.
Have you got stock recovery installed?
Also I'm not sure why you went s-on and relocked as that wasn't necessary to do an ota.

Hey guys, I'm running ViperOne 2.4.0. with TWRP recovery installed. For some reason when it boots up, the only thing it shows is an unusual HTC splash screen with red writing at the bottom, similar to if it were booting into recovery, but without the pink "entering recovery" message at the top. What is causing this, can it be changed by adding a new splash screen and/or boot animation? It just stays on this screen for a painfully long time, and then goes black. I tap the screen and it's on, and everything is fine. Thanks in advance.

You don't need S-Off to upgrade firmware with official untouched firmware.
With S-On you can't downgrade.
I believe your device is T-Mobile so grab the OTA.zip from T-Mobile section and extract out the firmware and use it.
Or.. do a proper OTA update.... or use the RUU ... all your answers are in T-Mobile section

I never know a Viper ROM is based on 2.22.531.5 CL365360 release-keys Your OP is mentioning about Viper.
Firmware is what written on bootloader - OS : ?????????
In Build Number in settings is the ROM version.
Well I guess I need to stop responding to Q&A for devices which have their own specific forum ....
I know nothing when it comes to T-Mobile, AT&T, Sprint and Verizon ... sorry

First of all, this isn't an "international GSM" forum. It's an HTC One M8 forum. That to me, means that it's for all users of this particular phone. Second, there is nothing that explains in explicit detail how I can fix this particular problem, in the T-Mo specific forum. Anyway, thanks.

That's what I'm trying to tell.
You do have a lower version firmware meant for 4.4.2 (the reason why it takes long time to boot and the black screen)
Firmware 4.4.3 has hboot 3.18.0.000 or greater than 3.16.0.0000

There is no need to go for S-Off if you don't need it. The only thing is once you updated to 4.4.3, S-Off thru SunShine may not work too. (currently)
So it's all depends on what you want/prefer to do :
1. backup your current Viper ROM and revert to stock ROM and do normal OTA (no need to relock bootloader)
Once complete, reinstall TWRP and restore your Viper ROM backup (so no reinstalling hassle)
or
2. revert to stock ROM with RUU (you need to relock bootloader)
Once complete, you need to reunlock bootloader and install TWRP and restore your backup.
or
3. keep/backup your current setup of Viper ROM and flash only the HTC signed firmware either thru fastboot or use a external_sdcard method. Both way you need to relock bootloader and re-unlock again after complete. Always remember unlocking bootloader will wipe your data. So make a backup to PC first. And you need to reflash TWRP too. You can try without relock bootloader first and see as I can't remember whether it will work on an unlocked bootloader or not. If not working, then try again with relocked bootloader.
I guess you can have all the info and files needed in this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2714456

Okay thanks man. None of that sounds like something I feel like doing this weekend. I'll see how I feel Monday and attempt it. Many thanks for your patience.
Speaking personally, I would say if you currently have the ability to s-off you may as well do it and save yourself some headaches. Reason being, if you're s-off you can, for example, flash a modified firmware that doesn't erase your rom or bootloader, which to me, is a lot less confusing and troublesome. You can also do things like flash different radios, animations, etc without installing new roms and what not. Anyways, that's just my opinion and I don't claim to be an expert or anything, just another random user.
Hi,good afternoon,my friend brought me his HTC one m9,because i have experience with these things, i have flashed many devices of different brands but this is my first HTC device.
Well the problem is this:
He unlocked the botloader, installed TWRP ,super SU.zip (via twrp) and a custom rom with s-on,after that he lost signal, the phone does not have imei and baseband is uknown.
I've searched trough xda ,before posting this,so i came across with a thread that said that the phone can recover signal flashing a custom rom and a kernel, did that with no success. And also i've read that returning the bootloader to locked status, will allow me to flash a RUU file in order to get back to stock.
So, i relocked the bootloader, using CMD, but now the phone just boots into bootloader ,i can enter download mode aswell, but its stucked there.
Phone is recognized by windows, via fastboot.
So,the phone status is bootloader relocked,and s-on.
i´ve tried flashing the RUU via sdcard on download mode and gives me error, also i tried using fastboot commands and the result is the same,i can not flash the RUU file.
Any suggestions are very apreciated. Thanks fot your time.

For download mode SD card method:
Make sure you're using an external SD card, not internal storage.
Make sure SD card is formatted properly.
Make sure file is named 100% correctly and is meant for that specific carrier /model.
No reason it shouldn't work.

Are you sure you flashed the correct one? Some basic information about firmware versions, RUUs and instructions how to flash them can be found in my sticky thread in the general section.
Concerning the reception problem: It's important whether you tried to use a sense-based custom rom or a non-sense-based one. The mono-kernel only works with non-sense roms like CM or Candysix. Moreover the reception problem has been covered in this thread some days ago. If you want to use a sense-based rom the re-flash boot.img "trick" might be working for you, too.
Sidenote: There is absolutely no need for flashing SuperSU if you are going to erase the system and to flash a custom com. It doesn't harm the device but it's a waste of time.

Sidenote: There is absolutely no need for flashing SuperSU if you are going to erase the system and to flash a custom com. It doesn't harm the device but it's a waste of time.

Yes I flashed the one for my operator. Can I flash another RUU?
About your links, I'll check them when I get back from work. Thanks.
Is your phone branded by your carrier? (Can be checked by looking at the SKU of the currently installed firmware.) If not then it's the wrong RUU. Is the RUU made for the same firmware version as the one that is currently installed on the phone or does the RUU even have a newer version? If not then it's the wrong RUU.

You still didn't mention the name of the RUU you wanted to flash. However a quick search for your SKU (Telcel Mexico) showed me that there is no RUU available you could use. The only one I could find is linked in my thread and that one is too old for your phone since you can't downgrade the firmware with S-ON. You either need to re-unlock the bootloader, flash a sense-based custom rom and buy the sunshine app or try to find someone who has a java card. Both solutions would set the phone S-OFF so that you would be able to use that old RUU. Alternatively you could contact Llabtoofer (a link can be found in my thread and in my google sheet). He has a RUU service with RUUs that are not available publicly*. Neither the sunshine app, nor a java nor the RUU service are for free. Llabtoofer and the sunshine app cost nearly the same. I don't know how much you need to pay for java card services. Be aware that even if it's OK if the phone is running a custom right now** and you don't want to use any of these solutions that you still lack a way back to stock if a new OTA (like the one for Android N) gets distributed and therefore you won't be able to install it.
If you use the old RUU all OTAs that got installed on your phone will need to get re-installed.
However you choose you should read the tab "make your own backup" of my sheet after the phone got recovered and all available OTAs got installed but before anyone starts flashing anything, again. This way you will learn how to create a backup that will help you out if you face such a situation, again. Instructions how to restore such a backup correctly can be found in the tab "twrp backups".You'll always need to create a new backup when a new OTA got installed on your phone and you want to re-root it. Besides if you're willing you could upload the backup (and any upcoming ones) and share it(/them) with the xda community by posting the download link(s) in my thread.
* He wants to know the hboot version of your phone of you request his help. Since the One M9 has no hboot but an aboot and that one never got updated you can enter version 1.0.0.0000. That's the current aboot version.
** Possible solutions for recovering the reception can be found in my first post in this thread. There is no need to flash a RUU since your IMEI and your baseband are still intact but the boot.img of the rom you tried to use was/is incompatible.

Ok,thanks, and yes,the RUU I was trying to flash I the telcel one.
I'm going to tell my fiend that he needs to pay in order to get his phone working.
Thanks again for everything. Have a nice day.
Update
I managed to unlock the bootloader again, the phone boots, but it has no signal.
Do I need sunshine and then flash any ruu?
Or what can I do? BTW my friend agreed to pay for sunshine.

Is it a sense-based rom? If yes, did you reflash the stock boot.img? Or is it a non-sense-based rom? In that case the mono kernel which is linked above needs to be flashed for recovering the reception.
If you're currently using a sense-based rom (which is not an HTC 10 port - e.g. Viper one m9 4.3) then you can install the sunshine app and start it. The app will explain the rest of the procedure. Just google "sunshine s-off" and you'll find it. After your phone got S-OFF you simply need to try reflashing the RUU.

The phone has the ICE rom,Twrp and superSU,I think it's a sense-based rom, sorry I can't give you more info, as I said I'm new in flashing HTC, but I'm learning thanks to you.
ICE is sense-based. It's using HTCs own launcher and framework which is called Sense. Examples for non-sense-based roms are CM, CandySix or other AOSP roms.
Depending on the version of ICE that got flashed on the phone you might need to revert back to an older version*. The newest ICE rom is based on an HTC 10 port and I've read several posts of users reporting that they couldn't use sunshine with an HTC 10 port.
* I don't know which version that would be. I've never used ICE so you would need to figure that out on your own.

So basically, no matter what rom I flash, sense or no sense based, I will need sunshine in order to have a working baseband?
No. Sunshine is needed for getting back to stock for installing upcoming OTAs. And in case you want to use a sense-based roms it's needed for being able to backup the stock boot.img. As explained before, you need to re-flash that one after you flashed the custom rom. The boot.img of 3.35.y (y is a placeholder for any possible number) custom roms isn't compatible with 3.x firmware if x is not equal to 35 (as in your case). At the moment your only option for not having to use sunshine would be flashing a non-sense-based rom and the kernel I linked in an earlier post. But as explained before you wouldn't be able to install upcoming updates like the one for Android N if you choose not to use sunshine.
