I have purchased a Tmobile Note 3 because its bootloader is unlocked and I can install custom roms. I plan to use it on AT&T notework.
Based on my research I have not been able to find a way to sim unlock for free. Chainfire's region away does not work with version 4.4+
Asking the group if anyone is aware of another way to sim unlock other than buying a unlock code from eBay for 25?
cellunlocker.net ,imei-unlocker.com and unlockunit.com take your pick.

Yeah - Did not work. I ended up buying code off ebay
What about downgrading to the 4.3 (TMBBMI7) and doing the free software unlock? Will it work?
Is the stock ROM required for unlocking?
Got the proper code from T-mo. Running CM-11. Unlock code doesn't work.
Am stuck because I don't want to brick.

I always use:
https://www.safeunlockcode.com
My code has always been delivered to my email in less than 5 minutes. I had to go through a couple of crap/scam sites before I found it though. I paid $35.95 for the unlock code for my T-Mobile Note 3 and they refunded me $14.40 just for submitting a selfie of me with the phone while smiling. That was a year ago. The last T-Mobile Note 3 I purchased a code for from them was around $30.

Yes it is. Stock rom required.

So what happens if you have it unlocked with the stock rom and then decide to upgrade? Will the unlock remain when upgrading the rom and bootloader?
So far, my experience is that the unlock sticks through changing bootloader and kernel.
Its just the initial unlock that needs the factory software.

I got a T-Mobile with Android 4.4.2, end up buying a code from cellunlocker.net as I could not find a easy way for free
Cost me US$20 and 2 days turn around.
Phone unlock and getting LTE in Singapore now

Unlock? You mean unlock the bootloader, or the phone? I already have a SGH-T889V Locked on WIND (Probably), that I purchased directly from WIND and it works perdectly with my SIM Card. I only want to root it and flash Custom ROMS.

I'm note sure about rooting it. It's baseband is different than the US TMobile variant. (US is LJ1 I think, my Mobilicity one reads LJ4)
I posted in the toolkit thread if it will work on our canadian ones. I hope someone replies soon.
Not sure if you mean will a tmobile note2 work on wind? Currently using a tmobile note 2 stock running on Wind... Just unlocked phone and evening working fine.

A SIM unlocked T-Mobile Note II works on Wind Mobile or Mobilicity without any modification.
I am looking for comment from Canadian users of T-Mobile Note II to confirm if the performance would improve after flashing the T889V modem.
Thanks

To answer your question, yes performance will improve after flashing the T889V modem, but the difference is very slim. Data speeds and reception are generally the same, but the T889V modem might get half a bar of signal where the tmobile one will get none.
Hi, just a quick question. I am travelling quite a lot, can I select all carriers in jovy's multicarrier aroma darthstalker rom? Thanks.
Please anyone? Thanks.
You could probably get by with just having it SIM unlocked which you would need done in the first place.

Its the SIM unlock I'm having biggest problems with. Its running 4.1.2 but the method on here *#1973 etc doesn't seem to work. I managed to get it rooted. Put CWM touch on and downgraded the ROM as it said but still can't unlock it.
Thanks.
Did you talk with your current mobile operator? Usually you can get the unlock code from your provider. If not let me know
XDA developer App. Samsung Galaxy Note 2 GT-N7100. Using CyanogenMod 10.2.
Ahh now heres the problem
I can't phone them as the phone won't work
catch 22 again.
I can't get 4.1.1 (stock or Cooked) as its all hotfile links and all are dead.
Try first this: (downgrading BTW doesn't help here a quote from CyanogenMod:
CyanogenMod, however, does not "unlock" the device. Most carriers "lock" their handsets to prevent customers from buying a handset and moving to a different carrier. Carriers depend on these "exclusivity" agreements to bolster revenue. For example: if you buy an iPhone in the US, you are stuck with AT&T or Verizon, whichever you bought from. To use the handset on another carrier's network it would be necessary to "unlock" the handset. This is done with a code based on the IMEI of the handset that can be provided by your carrier or firms on the internet that are slightly more reliable than a Nigerian Prince.
Unlocking cannot be done by installing CyanogenMod, or any other firmware for that matter.

Yes I understand that
The instructions to SIM unlock are
Downgrade to 4.1.1 or 4.1.2 and use a *~ code to access the network lock menu. But it seems 'some' 4.1.2 don't give full access to the menu.
4.1.1 does, but I can't find it anywhere , hotfile problem
I'm not trying to SIM unlock with the firmware but trying to find a firmware that allows SIM unlocking though the dev menu.
I should imagine thats what the input code option when it boots does.

Again though no 4.1.1
Forget that, top link is all hotfiles again
Samsung has a "Region-Lock" some custom ROMs remove this lock, so I think you must use a UK version. Else it won't work!
[…] For example, a SIM-free Galaxy Note 3 is purchased in Europe, the first SIM card inserted in the device must be from a carrier that operates in the particular region. It doesn’t matter if the carrier doesn’t operate in the particular country where the device is bought from, it just need to operate in one of the countries in the entire region. […] Those who end up with a region locked device in a different region and can’t use a SIM to deactivate region lock, they can go to a Samsung care center and get it deactivated, it is not known if there are any costs associated with this or if it would have to be proved where the device has been purchased from. Try with the app Galaxsim Unlock from the play store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.spocky.galaxsimunlock
I had your same issue on a Note2 from 3 UK: when I went to Italy I wasn't able to use italian SIM cards on it.
The software says 4.1.1 is required but my phone came out with 4.1.2 and it worked fine for me.
I've found a working UK 4.1.1 ROM. Probably that last working one in the world
I'm going to see how I go about downgrading the ROM now. If I put CWM touch on and can I do it through that. I'm not sure if you can downgrade with a higher recovery system.
Does Flashing SGH-I747 4.3 to a custom ROM will remove the carrier lock of the phone?
No, you are Still locked to your carrier
Sent from my SGH-I747M using Tapatalk
Couple of things to keep in mind:
1) if you want to unlock the phone, get a code and unlock the phone while running a stock ROM. You will not be able to enter the code using a custom ROM; and
2) do not attempt to downgrade the bootloader. Any attempts to downgrade could, and probably will, brick your phone.
Does this really works?

I doubt it. If it did, there would be a big thread about it in the i747/i747m forum. Also, under FAQ, it states the following: support international Galaxy S3 i9300 (Us qualcomm based GS3 are not supported at this time)
The last post in that thread was 2013-06-14.
That unlock app will not work as it does not support U.S S3 variants
There's a working downgrade to 4.1.1 check it out and while on it, try the free unlock then upgrade again
Edit: my bad.. You can't do the free unlock even of you downgrade because the bootloader is still 4.3... Only way to do it once you're on 4.3 bootloader is to purchase an unlock code
Good luck

Can someone please explain to me what the EXACT difference is between the Verizon Note 4 DE and the stock Verizon note 4 DE.
I'm not a developer or programmer but is there really no way to utilize the discrepancy or software/hardware between the two devices to achieve root or unlocked bootloader??

There is only one difference, besides the model numbers, and that is the unlocked bootloader. When you receive a Developer Edition Note you get exactly the same hardware, software, bloatware etc. that comes with the retail (carrier) version.
Does Developer Edition receive updates in parallel with the standard Note 4?
Second question is whether unlocked bootloader alone allow you to install su, etc and have root? Or are we still in need of some exploit, etc?

No, the DE does not receive updates. You have to do them by hand.
YES! The unlocked bootloader does allow you to install TWRP as well as achieve root. This is the reason I bought mine.
Fine to install manually if the updates are available. Are the updates available then?
Great about instant root access. I don't need a custom ROM with Xposed.

So the little disclaimer at the bottom of the N4 DE purchase page about FCC clearance is not actually true?
The backlogged order form is to tell you when they are in. However its not a pre-order and first come first serve. So really its trying to get one is a super challenge at this point. You best bet is to call and ask when the next shipment is coming in and be on the ball several times a day checking the site to order. Its soo worth owning one.

I got it from Samsung's website. I was just lucky enough to get one of the ones in the second wave of them that were released.
Eventually Samsung should make more available but they sure don't seem to be in any hurry.
I recommend you do NOT rely on the "preorder" link on the website at all. After the first wave sold out I put in a "preorder" and I never did get an email saying they were available once the second wave hit. I only knew about it because I made it a habit to check the site every day. Even though I've had the phone for several weeks now I still haven't been notified that it ever did come back into stock.
Sorry, it would sound so stupid to ask but I want to make sure... Does the DE and Retail have same model number? If not, how can I know to find the difference? I looked up on Google for model number and end up with same number with my phone that I bought from Verizon from day 1 when it came out.
You have the retail model since you purchased from Verizon. DE must be purchased directly from Samsung.
