Twrp 2.8.4.0 I think works fine. But you can use twrp 2.8.1.0 to be safe.

I was on CWM before but devs lately are recommending TWRP
go to android development thread at top of page read the sticky notes for directions
all versions of CWM work with our t989d
easiest way to install CWM is Rom Manager from the app store
but you must root your phone first
just in case you did not know hope this helped m8

If you are flashing first time
you want the *.tar file
so you can use Odin to flash the recovery

Can anyone tell me which is the best, and reliable, custom recovery to use since the 3.28.401.6 update ?
Been using TWRP on m7 and m8 pre the update. I think, from reading the threads around here, that there seems to be an issue with TWRP with latest firmware.
Am I right ?
Thanks
PS, planning to use ARHD if there's a "safe" custom recovery.
I use TWRP 2.8 and I've had zero issues. Used arhd and now I'm on aosp.

I'm on 4.4.4 stock with s-off and root. Twrp 2.8 works just fine.
Has anyone been able to fastboot boot this version with stock recovery installed on new firmware?

Thanks for replies. My main question was, does 2.8.0.3 work ok on 3.28.401.06 ?
Thanks

There is only one. Bump'd link http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-lg-g3/orig-development/bump-unlock-lg-g3-twrp-t2900569
Does this phone have a root indicator like the G2 did? In download mode I believe it was. And also in about phone it would say modified or something.

Using the phone dialer pad enter 3845#*850#. (Relace 850 with your variant). This allows you to enter the hidden menu. Look for LG RCT tag and display result. The content of the file will indicate whether G3 is rooted or not.

I believe you can use flashily to flash an OEM (signed) ROM, or a 'bumped ROM'.

"Is there a difference to using Flashify vs. Bump??"
You asked for input, and I gave you one. I told you the one difference between using the original Bump installation proces, and using a noob tool like flashify that does everything for you.
There is no difference between the two, they do the same stuff after all.

My original question was if there was a difference between using one over the other; If BUMP did something Flashify couldn't or vice versa. Not which one was the easiest to do or is "noob" friendly. Why go out of my way to use ADB on my PC when I can just download the TWRP img to my phone and flash it from the phone itself? Either way, this has been solved and I now have TWRP. Thanks for your input, anyways.
