Hboot 3.16 = 1.x firmware, which won't work for any of the more recent Sense ROMs.
You can only officially update the AT&T version to hboot 3.17 (2.x firmware) which doesn't really help matter much as far as the current ROMs.
My suggestion is s-off by sunshine, which will allow you to flash 3.x or 4.x firmware as needed by the particular ROM.
Or wait until AT&T gets rolling with some OTAs (don't hold your breath).

Files were released in error for a short time, but then subsequently pulled: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=58313915&postcount=156
In any case, if the OP is trying to run the current ARHD, which needs 4.x software. So Android 4.4.4 update (firmware 3.x) still won't help, and he will still suffer long boot times.

If you are stuck with AT&T, this should give you a sense of how long you can expect to wait for Lollipop...

How does one downgrade the firmware?

I have the Indian HTC one X rooted with 1.28.720.10 and can't find the RUU anywhere.
I've been facing a lot of problems with it - including the disk space mysteriously vanishing, (20 gigs gone in my case) and so I want to revert it to a stock unrooted state before returning it for a replacement.
Already seen this thread for the AT&T version, and the sdcard does not have a mmcblk0p23 as stated.
I have the RUU for an older version(1.26.720.2) from the RUU thread so I want to downgrade the firmware to that one.
Anyone tried a variation of the AT&T method? Or is there another way to downgrade the firmware...or am I SOL?

wrong place to ask for. for all type of question there is a veeery big Q&A thread qo and ask there
You can't downgrade the firmware once updated the hboot and radio. You'll have to wait till s- off is achieved for that. What you can do is flash a stock rom (1.26), flash stock recovery, re lock bootloader (in order) and then flash the 1.28, subsequently 1.29.x firmware update ruu. If you want to get rid of the sd space issue, why not flash one of the many 1.29.x and 2.x based roms on the forum?
Wrong section btw. Anyway, best of luck!
Thank me if I helped.... You know I'll do it again Oh, and by the way, Sent from my HTC One X
Yeah, you can't flash an RUU that would take the hboot to a previous version. A few Chinese sites mention the 1.28.720.10 RUU, but I can't translate from my phone.
As said, just install ARHD 7.1 or whatever if you're already unlocked.

Can I upgrade to JellyBean via OTA?

Hey there
I have been facing this problem, or more like wondering about it for a while now.
I upgraded my HBOOT to 1.31 and I had ARHD15 and then Viper X installed. Then the official Jelly Bean OTA update started rolling out to HTC devices and I was excited, so I decided I want to go back to the latest stock ROM so I can receive it when I tap "Check for Updates" under "Software Updates". I tried to use a stock RUU but of course that failed since my "get-var" thing says that I have a newer version than the latest one. Mine is 3+ while the latest one is 2+ if that makes any sense. I looked through all the stock RUUs but there wasn't any compatible one.
So I decided I should find another way to install the stock ICS ROM and I did. I used this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1546970
Anyway, I installed it, rooted the device, and then flashed the stock recovery so I would prepare my device for the OTA update.
I have a:
CID: HTC__J15
Region: .401 (WWE I believe)
This is the latest RUU I found:
RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_HTC_Europe_1.29.401.12_Radio_2.1204.127.19_release_271851_signed.exe
However, mine is 3.27.401 if I remember correctly, therefore I cannot install the above one.
So anyway, is my device ready to receive the OTA update now or am I just fooling myself since I didn't go back to stock using the stock RUU?

Any help or information is really appreciated as I have been squeezing my brain about this for a while now and it's getting frustrating and I honestly feel stupid.
Thank you
Since you updated hboot you can't use the latest RUU (2.17.401.2).
I'm not sure Mikes stock ROM will allow you to install the OTA, you might have better luck if you restore a 2.17.401.2 backup, there's a thread for that.
Thanks for your reply. You mean I can restore using a NANDROID backup that I download from the internet, for instance? I am assuming that is flashed through CWM recovery, correct? Would you please link me to the correct thread if it's not too much to ask? I'll be searching for it in the mean time.
Thanks a lot.

It was about the third thread in general section.
Thank you so much, but unfortunately my CID (HTC_J15) is one of the missing CIDs. I guess I am unlucky.

The CID has little to do with the backup, you just need a backup for 2.17.401.2, which is there.
Well, since CID has little to do with it, would it be possible to flash 3.14.401.27 if I have 1.31 HBOOT?
You still need the right CID to flash the OTA as it checks so you have to be on one of the ones that have had JB so far...
Oh.. well then I suppose I cannot flash the JB Nandroid since my CID J_15 did not officially receive JB yet. I hate you, HTC!!! lol

Latest OTA for AT&T?

I am still stuck on firmware 1.58 due to S-ON and I thought AT&T was rolling out an update to Android 4.4.4 but my phone can't find it.
Does anyone know why or how to update the firmware to something newer if I have S-ON? Thanks.

download the HTC Sync software and try doing a manual update. or you can just wait until the OTA gets pushed.
AT&T canceled the KitKat OTA because it was messed up. Not sure on the details, but I believe battery life was significantly worse.
Personally, I dumped AT&T's image and switched to the Developer Edition, and I've never looked back. However, if I needed to run AT&T's crap, I'd avoid their KitKat OTA and pray that they finally get around to releasing a Lollipop OTA instead.

HTC hands over technically approved code to AT&T they can load their bloatware crap on it. AT&T takes code informs everyone update will role out the next day, loads bloatware...

wifi won't turn on

I've just experienced a collapse in my phone's functionality and I have no idea why. It is a standard HTC build without root or any other modifications like S-OFF.
I updated to Marshmallow in January and have been using it without a problem. Than, a few days ago I suddenly couldn't start the Settings app as it kept crashing. As part of this problem I also couldn't start WiFi or Bluetooth. I tried safe mode but it didn't help at all.
Eventually I decided to do a factory reset, cache wipe and removed the SD card, but this didn't fix my phone. It now doesn't start up properly, with the following messages:
Android is starting
Starting Apps
Failed to load driver. reason: unknown error (19)
It then shows lots of messages for apps that have stopped.
I haven't any idea why this happened but I think there must be some way I can fix it myself, rather than send it back to HTC. Has anyone any suggestions?

Reading all your posts actually quite confusing ... in some ROM threads you mentioned you have Verizon device but here you have a Intl GSM device.
Your second screenshot show an outdated firmware installed (the bootloader) but the third screenshot show a Marshmallow firmware installed. Which is which now ?
If the problem is based on the second screenshot ... just run the latest EU MM RUU to update the firmware and the ROM.
If the problem is based on the third screenshot ... install again the latest EU MM RUU to fix whatever problem that you have.
And you already have the latest EU MM RUU based on your first screenshot

verizon is not my first device, it's different. this is Intl GSM device.
currently Marshmallow 6.12.401.4 installed.
I installed all the ROMs and firmwares in the picture.
I install the ROM update utility method. but WiFi won't turn on. I installed many times with 0p6bimg.
When I installed the 4.4.3 RUU version is going to restart the cycle.
Sorry my bad english.

Upgrade from old version of PureFusion?

Hi there, everyone.
I have a big or small problem. I want to be able to flash the newest Lineage or pixel experience, but I'm not sure how to upgrade the firmware. Below, you can see the version of PureFusion. I searched the forums and it sees that i need to upgrade the firmware first as i'm on the old nougat one.
The problem comes now, my phone is UNLOCKED, but S-ON and the CID is HTC_034 Europe. I'm not sure what method to use to upgrade the firmware, as it's a bit vague. For some CID you can't find the files, or other stuff. Can someone help me with some information in this case?

Totally wrong, the current purefusion rom has nothing to do with upgrading your firmware. You need to enter download mode, look at your OS number and search for the ruu that matches that number. Flash it, update and flash TWRP, than the desired rom. Whatever purefusion is showing is not what you need
