Need help! I have "Sync" and "Wifi" problem :(

I have 2 laptop. I can sync my BA with one of them (via USB) easily without any problem. Since that laptop is broken I have to use the other one.
This time, when I connect BA, I can't connect to wifi network by the laptop (it's connected and then drop and then connected, continuously). I have to remove BA and do a reset to get wifi connection back
Please help me Can't stand this anymore

I had this happen to me before and never found any solution aside from reinstalling Windows. I had tried flashing roms, reinstalling ActiveSync, but nothing worked. I wish I could give you a better solution, but unfortunately... I don't have one (disable calls/mms while connected and disable tethering to the device sometimes seemed to work but not for long)

Thanks , but the built-in DVD-Drive is broken, and my laptop is so old that it does not support booting from USB device I did use recovery option to bring it to the original state but the problem is still there. I think the problem is in the OEM installation but I do not know where to fix.

You could try to uninstall the device and reinstall it (via hardware manager) since I am still convinced that it is a driver issue... but at this point... I am not sure what else to tell you.

Thanks, I'll try, not really clear what you mean by uninstall the device but I'm sure that I'll figure it out. I also think that it is driver issue (not compatible with each other?) but, anyway, I've never been good at understanding the driver stuffs (why should similar devices need different drivers? why don't they just create a (or some) standard controlling method(s)?)

[Q] SGH-T999 Won't connect to PC/MAC.

Hello, I received my T-Mobile 16GB Galaxy S III today and my intentions were to flash it right out of the box( I am no stranger to doing so) but I've seem to run into a few complications. I can't even begin my rooting process since it fails to connect to my PC( Windows XP Service Pack 3) or my iMac (Lion). (With multiple USBs during each attempt)
I've downloaded Kies re-installed drivers multiple time (on both platforms)
I've tried connecting via download mode on Odin/Heimdall.
Factory Resets on the device.
I've tried the Android File Transfer on Mac, no luck either.
I've tried to simply connect it to my PC through MTP/PTP. (This resulted in the closest effort it acknowledged my phone as "Digital Still Camera" and began to open a file) When I re-install the drivers it lists the phone and Samsung modem in the task bar, but nothing happens, I still cannot access either SD card.
Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated, thank you for your time.
I'm beginning to think the device may be defective myself.

For Mac, connect your device through usb cable. Pull down the notification bar and select PTP as connection. Fire up the Android file transfer app, you should be good.
For PC, download the tool kit from development Page, and select appropriate device, then select 1 to install device driver. Reinstall even if you have the driver already. After installation, connect your phone and select MTP. Let the pc update the driver settings, etc. Wait for a minute or two, open my computer and you should be able to transfer files now.
Let me know if you experience any issues afterward

I tried the Mac way again made sure ptp was checked, still received a "cannot connect to device" error. Trying the toolkit way on PC now.

I had the same problem with my PC, download the toolkit and install the drivers. Thats what worked for me.

Yeah, I just did that, the serial numbers never appeared on the toolkit program, so I assume it did not work. I'll give it another try though.

Dont worry, you dont even have to connect the phone to install the drivers. Just re-run the toolkit and install the drivers.

Yeah, I did. I just keep getting "New Hardware Found" messages and that's it. I'll re-install the drivers a third time, after this attempt I have no idea what to do.

Well try rebooting both the phone and your computer. If you still cant get to work then the only real fix would be to exchange the unit. I hope it works and you dont have to exchange it. I hate going thru that hassle.
If you ordered from T-Mo directly call them up and speak to the loyalty department and have them send you another unit with the return kit. Make sure to tell them you use your phone for bussines and you need to have a phone. Thats how I have done my exchanges while still having a phone to play with until the new one arrives. Good luck bro.

Yeah, I think I will have to try that, unfortunately. Haha, kind of spent my whole day trying to fix is, bit of a bummer to be honest. Thanks for the luck.

usually when i request a defective replacement, or insurance, i get the new phone within 2 days, anyhow.

I have the same probleme with my sgh-t999v so i guess i will have to get a replacement too

[Q] the mobile restarts automatically

i have a Z1 compact .. it was working properly and all of a sudden it restarted itself and i got a message that the homepage is not available and i can't unlock the screen. i used the small off button to force it to shut down and then start it again, it started but with the same problem; i can't unlock the screen to access the phone and i don't have network either!! ever since it keeps on restarting itself automatically every few minutes! the Sony support website said it might be related to network problems or SIM card problems, i contacted my network provider and they keep on telling me that's a mobile phone problem!! i used to be kitkat and upgraded to lollipop a week ago, could that be part of the problem?!
i appreciate any feedback on the matter as i can't access my phone completely!!

That's kind of vague... Is your phone stock? How did you upgrade, official or unofficial? Do you have important data on the phone you don't want to lose? If not, you could reflash, either with Flashtool or official Sony method.

i bought the phone with kitkat and upgraded to lollipop through OTA and yes it has important data!

Well, that would seem like it wasn't your fault, but it might be difficult to get them to help you without paying for it. You could try contacting Sony and see what they say. You also could see if you can get ADB shell on your computer, and copy files from terminal, then reflash, (if you have ADB installed).

looks like i have no choice but contacting the Sony people!! i can't either get it to hard reset, it just freezes when it starts and then restarts in a couple of minutes!! thank you for your feedback, appreciate it.

Marshmallow

Does anyone have Marshmallow installed on their Xperia M5 yet?

The latest firmware is still .55 according to XperiFirm. A few people say that the update is supposed to come out by the end of this month... but we'll see. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, and hoping the update is the one we've all been waiting for.

Sony always takes so long to release updates, even for the Z series. Imagine for us.
However, I don't have nothing to complain about the firmware 5.1...

I love my M5 and C4, but this is really discouraging. I was fine using it unrooted with hopes that it would atleast get upgraded soon. This might push me to stay with Snapdragon phones in the future, but then there's always the issue with the DRM partitions. Doesn't seem like there's an easy way out for those of us that like Sony phones, but like to have current software as well. Too bad the Google Play Edition program didn't work out.

Mate has Marshmallow on his One+one. Says it's a right pain. Keeps crashing and messing up. I'll wait for a good version to come out I think.

That is why Sony is always late with up,they don't like to release a buggy update so they make it as stable as they can and then releases it.It has always been this way.

Can't believe we are behind the old handset!
I wonder how much comes down to the mediatek processor and Sony experience with it.

Well if they don't add so many garbage apps then they don't have to do quality checking for 9 months.

I've heard that Mediatek only provides source for the current version of android. OEMs have to buy source for new versions to upgrade. All 5.x source is free, but 6.x / 7.x will cost. It's probably never going to happen for the M5 and C4/5. If it doesn't I'll probably stop supporting Sony. They shouldn't make promises they can't deliver. As for MediaTek, they do this so they can sell more procs and ultimately OEMs sell more phones.

Marshmallow update is rolling. Check XperiFirm for 30.2.A.0.100

But if I flash generic on a phone with a generic FW already installed (via OTA, so network certified, but Xperifirm says it's generic), it shouldn't brick it, right?

Shouldn't brick it. I'm just concernes it may break some compatibility. I have 2 different M5s. One with US LTE and the other doesn't have it. Better to make sure you have the exact firmware for your model.

Mine WAS rooted with KingRoot, so it seemed that OTA updates did not work. Thus, even though when I connected it by USB, PC Companion first told me I was "up to date". I clicked 2 or 3 times on the program's software update and finally it began to download the update, 30.2.A.0.100. If you follow the instructions PC companion tells you during the reboot phase, it will NOT work. It tells you to hold down the Volume Down key while re-connecting it to the USB. Actually, you need to hold the Volume button Down AND the Power Button ON while attaching the USB. Everything updated fine, but I no longer have Root, and KingRoot can't seem to get it back for me. It does seem buggy and rather touchy, but looks like a nice update. Does anyone know of a Root process for 6.0 on the 5653/M5?

Is there any trick to enable adoptable storage in M5 with Marshmallow? And how I enable/reach android development settings from phone's menu?

I did the update on the PC Companion and it worked just holding the volume button down. I didn't have to hold power button.
Anyway, what did you guys think about the update?
I did the update yesterday, so I can't say for sure but the update seems to be very good.

Your mileage might vary, but my advice, don't partition the SD card as "mixed". I tried using mixed mode, but it became very unstable. I now have my 128GB SD card fully formatted as private storage. The feature's buggy, though. After enabling adoptable storage, installing some apps from Play Store fails, and I had to download the apk to install the apps.

Maybe it was my SONY M5 who knows. When I just pressed the Volume Down button, and re-plugged in the USB cable, all it did was show battery level for 2 seconds before a black screen. So, I just decided to use the Power and Volume Down button, which was the way I normally do when rooting the phone.
Anyway, I hated the screen overlay bug and spent hours resetting the permissions of all my apps, but overall, I like Marshmallow, BUT, it took away my Root, so now my phone does not last as long on a single battery charge, as it did when I could force close and keep close numerous background apps.

Just had a notice through Xpreia Companion that Marshmallow is available to download

I checked this morning and it's available for my E5606, but not my E5653.

Question Can't use OTA update or Smart Switch - fail at 25%

Hi! I got a Samsung Galaxy A52s 5g that i bought from a store as second hand. They give a 14 days waranty but I don't really have the time to send the phone to service.
My problem is this... The phone right now has android 12 one ui 4.0 with Android security patch level from march 1, 2022. I want to upgrade it to android 13, but everytime I try thru OTA it fails at 25% and comes back to original saying Failed to install update, contact a samsung service center. Or something similar.
I found on the web that updating thru Samsung Smart Switch should work, but for me it doesn't. It downloads 7.3 gb of updates, after that phone enters download mode and I get after some time a NOTICE on the computer that "failed to recognize software update mode" and instructs me to reboot device and try again. I even enabled USB debug mode and I get the same NOTICE on the computer. And after that I reboot phone from downloading mode and everything is back to original.
The phone was charged 50%+ everytime i tried, also I got enough rom memory, I checked. Changed usb cable to another USB on the laptop and I get the same result from Smart Switch.
Phone model is SM-A528B/DS. I will provide more info if needed.
What I can do to succesfully update the software on my A52s 5g? I searched on the web to no result to my Smart Switch error. Also I've seen that are alot of cases where thru OTA the phone fails at 25%, but either they succesfully updated thru Smart Switch or no response.
I want to try installing the official rom from sammobile but I really don't know what firmware I should pick.

Does it matter from what carrier did the phone come from? The baseband is different from the file that you posted. Or doesn't matter? Anyway, downloaded it, now i'm looking for a tutorial on how to flash the rom. Thanks!

Can I use update from SD card from recovery mode? It's easier i guess.

I just flashed the rom you provided. Hurray! It works just fine with odin. If anybody got the same problem with their phone, flashing with odin does a great job!
