I just bought a LG G3 F400K South Korean variant from an online store. The device supports wcdma 850 mhz, 2100 mhz and 1900 mhz. Whenever I use mobile data, the lg g3 signal indicates 3G but when I try to surf using chrome, the page loads sluggishly and usually ends in unable to load page error, signal bars are also fluctuating when on wcdma only mode. Also, using the app store on mobile data yields "connection timed out". What's strange is when I use the same globe sim on my LG L Fino, I get an H, browsing is smooth and the appstore works fine. Any input would greatly be appreciated.
Im from the Philippines using the network Globe Telecom
Globe Telecom GSM Frequency Band - 900 MHz/1800 MHz (Dual Band)
3G Frequency Band W-CDMA (UMTS) - 850Mhz/2100 MHz
UMTS/3G 1900(uplink)/2100(downlink) (Dual Band)
4G (live LTE, WiMAX, HSPA+, test, license) - 4G Globe HSPA+ WiMAX 1800Mhz(Launch Date: September 2012)
I'm not subscribed to LTE meaning I'm supposed to get "H" or "H+" for data but i'm only getting 3G.
Is my device incompatible with the network?
Does 3G already mean "H" or "H+" in my G3?
Why are the signal bars unstable while the same sim works fine on my LG L Fino?

3g means you are getting H+ .... H+ is just another name of 3g

Hi,
Do you still have the same problem till now? I bet we got the same issue and hopefully someone from here has found a workaround for this.
By the way, are you still on Kitkat? Or Lollipop? Have you already tried to use SMART Sim Card?
Thanks a lot for your time. I'm still trying to figure this one out.

I have a US Defy. I flashed it from T-Mobile US 2.51 ROM to 3.4.2.145-003 from Finland. I rooted and installed ItfunzBaseBandSwitcher.apk and switched the baseband to US frequencies. I am using the phone in Canada on Mobilicity (same frequencies as T-Mo USA).
Before flashing, I got 3G reception with 3Mb DL and 1Mb UL. After flashing, most of the time my phone shows H instead of 3G, and I get speeds of 1.6 DL 0.7 UL. I set the phone to use 3G only. Any other settings I need to check? Is it possible that other tools that change the baseband would improve the reception? Thanks.

I tried these 3G fixes since they were taken specifically from Froyo ROMs (I wasn't sure if the Chinese app uses files from Eclair or Froyo). The network status indicator still hovers between "3G" and "H". I have never seen "H" on my previous ROM, (US 2.5.1) only "3G", but I think the "H" it is also 3G mode (Maybe HSPA?). I'm on a 3G only network. When I set the phone to use 2G only, I have no network at all (no voice and no data), so that's why I'm assuming that the "H" indicator is also 3G. I don't know if that's because it's 3.4.2 ROM or because it's from a different country. Can anyone verify that?
The data speed in "H" mode is 1.6DL and in "3G" mode 0.6DL. Still not as good as with 2.51 ROM
I live in Israel. I used to live in the US. Last time I was in the US I bought this phone and brought it over. I did my research beforehand and knowingly purchased the phone assuming I would have full compatible with Israeli service providers...
Now, I'm not so sure anymore. I just tried the phone today.. maybe 5 hours of use. Still have the default OS installed. No root or anything. The signal seems to fluctuate going between Edge and higher speed networks.
Here's what it says about Cellcom on wikipedia:
Cellcom eventually sought to replace the 850 MHz TDMA frequencies it owns with standard 900 MHz GSM frequencies but Pelephone and Partner (Orange) petitioned the Ministry of Communications to deny this for technical reasons. This put Cellcom at a disadvantage since though most of its users had converted to GSM, they were not able to make use of the lower frequency's better in-building penetration and greater cell reach.
With its entry into 3G wireless services Cellcom demoed the first mobile video call in Israel. Since the beginning of 2006, Cellcom began deploying a 3G UMTS-2100 network nationwide which by the end of 2007 covered than 87% of the population. Cellcom was the first in Israel to launch an HSDPA network (also called "Generation 3.5") nationwide. In 2011, Cellcom began to deploy UMTS services in the 850 MHz band, employing unused capacity in that frequency range since it had very few TDMA customers remaining. The Israeli Ministry of Communications has approved Cellcom's plan to shut down the TDMA-850 network on 31 December 2011.

I just put the SIM card back in my old international Galaxy 2 i9100T and it'll fluctuate between HSDPA: 8 and HSPA+:15. Also it displays an H icon in the status bar (I don't think Resurrection rom is capable of displaying an H+).
Anyway, I'm going to put the SIM back in the Galaxy 3 t999. It now fluctuates between EDGE: 2, HSPAP: 15, HSPA: 11, and UMTS: 3. The signal is shifty and only displays a 3G at the top, no H like the international Galaxy 2.
Here's what wikipedia lists as the differences between the two models of the Galaxy 3 (standard international i9300 and my t-mobile t999):
Model GT-I9300;
2G networks: 850, 900, 1,800, 1,900 MHz GSM / GPRS / EDGE
3G networks: 850, 900, 1,900, 2,100 MHz UMTS / HSPA+

So what do you think is going on??? Doesn't the t-mobile Galaxy 3 t999 support all the networks that Israel currently has operating???
I took my T999 to Israel about a week after buying it in the States.
While vacationing there, I got an Orange SIM with a local number and a 5GB plan.
Everything was working fine. My phone was on 3G almost everywhere in the country, and it rarely dropped below three bars.
Is your phone unlocked? Could it be a Cellcom problem? Try borrowing a friend's Orange SIM and see if it works any better.
Yea it's unlocked. Even despite the speed issue I'm starting to think maybe I should have gotten the international version, there's nowhere near as much development for this version. Maybe I can trade?

But we have a more functioning Jellybean.
I have Korean LG G Pro F240L
everything works alright except that it doesn't fully use it's 3g capabilities
I live in an area where 3G signal is not that stable, usually 2-4 bars, signal can drop for a few seconds every now and then, I use telstra in Australia, which use 850Mhz/2100Mhz 3G network (850 in most areas, 2100 only for extra coverage)
I set the network preference as Auto, the trouble is that most of the time the phone sticks to 2G/GPRS with small icon on the top showing "G",
and if I want to use 3g I have to go to the network setting and change it from auto to "WCDMA only", the network will change to 3g (icon on top showing 3g) with signal strength about 2-4 bars
obviously with unstable 3g signals I can't keep it "WCDMA only" all the time, so I have to change it back to auto.
once it's in auto the phone will not revert to GPRS straightaway, it will keep going with 3g for a while and then if there is a drop of 3g signal it will then change to 2g/gprs and stay that way.
is there anyway to set the phone in "3g preferred" state where 3g is utilized automaticly whenever the internet is needed? (as far as I know, no such option exists).
do you have any trouble with your 3g settings? please share, thanks
I have discovered something new
in the hidden menu-WCDMA service menu-GSM/WCDMA band, when you click on WCDMA 1900 and WCDMA 2100, it shows success, whereas when you click on WCDMA 850 it displays fail
it seems that the phone is not using the stable 850 band at all, rather it relies on the 2100 band, this explains the erratic signal strength
I did a bit more digging
the band frequency for korean providers are
SK (S) 2G (CDMA) 800, 3G (UMTS/HSPA) 2100, 4G (LTE) 850/1800
LG U+ (L) no 2G, 3G (CDMA/EVDO)1800, 4G (LTE) 850/2100
KT (K) no 2G, 3G (UMTS/HSPA) 2100, 4G (LTE) 850/900/1800
also
telstra 2G (GSM/EDGE) 900/1800, 2G (UMTS/WCDMA/HSPA) 850 (main 99% population) /2100 (minor), 4G (LTE) 1800
AT&T (E980) 2G(GSM/GPRS/EDGE) 850/1900, 3G(UMTS/HSPA) 850/1900
strange that there doesn't seem to be direct connection/conflict between telstra bands and the LG U+ bands, i.e. if my F240L is able to use GSM and WCDMA 2100, why not WCDMA 850
I believe G pro is a global phone that supports all communication standards
I am unsure about the root of the problem, is it the matter of settings (i.e. can be solved by tweaking the service menu), or the problem of incompatible radio (hence can be solved by flashing appropriate radio)
also is there anyway to tell the band frequency the phone is using? I did my search and nothing yielded, I believe there is no such solution
my question comes down to how to enable/unlock 850 band on this phone?
If you use AT&T and have a korean phone, do you have similar problem? (as shown above AT&T partly relies on 850 band as well)
also if i guess right the problem is not limited to LG G Pro, any LG Korean phone potentially will have similar issues, I tried search optimus G forum but nothing turned up.
Same problem, korean phone wrong band

I have since learned that basebands are all hardware encoded, at least for LG phones, and there is no way to enable WCDMA 850 band if it is not originally supported by the phone, flashing the radio will not change the hardware capability of the phone
The Korean LG G pro supports only
2G : 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
3G : 900/2100 MHz
4G, LTE: F240K - 900/1800 MHz (Band 8 & 3) F240S - 850/1800 MHz (Band 5 & 3), F240L - 850/2100 MHz (Band 5 & 1)
I have since change the network provider (who provides 3G on 2100 band), it's not ideal but it's the only solution for me

Please tell me what did you do regarding this issue ?
Unstable/Weak phone signals
Singles on my korean LG G Pro are very unstable and after every few minutes my phone shows "Emergency calls only" with an empty signal bar and then suddenly gets full signal back with in few seconds.
I am using custom Android 4.1.2
Same time my signals on my Xperia Z phone with same network remains stable at same place.
Is it a software issues ??
If yes then how I can resolve it ?

Hello i was using 4g lte on my f240k smoothly, than i updated to lollipop my imei was gone and afterwards i again downgraded to kitkat but problem is 4g lte is now nit working for which i downgraded
Now my carrier also saying handset is not compatible. But previously i have used 4g lte on this same device.
Your expertise required in this regard.
I purchased the newly released UMI X2 Android phone. I am unable to use the TMobile 3G network. I am only able to use 2G/EDGE.
Voice and data quality are very bad, almost the phone is unusable. I spoke with T-Mobile and was informed that my modem does not support 1700 MHz and there are effort to re-farm TMobile network to support 3G on 1900Mhz but not set date yet. When I scan for available network I get three networks were available
T-Mobile 2G
AT&T 3G
AT&T 2G
Operating System: Android 4.2.1 OS
Processor: 1.2GHz MTK MT6589 quad-core processor
Connectivity Technology: GSM network & WCDMA - Standard SIM card
Network Band: GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz & WCDMA 850/2100MHz
Data Technology: GPRS, EDGE, HSPA
Baseband version
MOlY.WR8.W1248.MD.WG.MP.V2.P1
I would appreciate any help to get my phone to work on 3G.

Did you make any progress with this? I recently purchased UMI X2, for use with T-Mobile UK. But have the same problem of not being able to connect to 3G networks - it works okay on 2G/EDGE.
I know the phone supports 3G on 2100MHz, and there's been some debate whether it supports 850/900MHz as well, but I've not found a definitive answer to that.
There's an operator in the UK (Hutchinson 3G UK Ltd) that only have a license for 2100MHz. So I was expecting the phone to work fine on their network- but no go... phone won't register on network at all - even though it shows in the available networks list.
I'm now searching to see if anyone else has been having problems - as it's beginning to look like faulty phone hardware - rather than trying to use unsupported frequencies...
acid meaand
I am still in the same situation, I am unable to use the 3G network for T-Mobile.
I am looking into getting 4G Wireless Hotspot modem $50 from the same carrier, use my SIM card on the modem, and use my UMI X2 as pure IP phone. There are many issues, but it looks promising.
Please keep me updated with any progress you make.
Regards;
I have the same problem...
I have this same problem with a operator here in Brazil. Every 3G operator in Brazil, using 2.1GHz band, works fine except one: VIVO.
I can see the network when I click on "manual search", but the phone can't connect. My baseband is:
moly.wr8.w1248.md.wg.mp.v7.p1 2013/04/10 00:39
How can change this baseband to another? I tried to update firmware but unfortunately the newest firmware has the same baseband version.
firmware update will not solve the problem
Firmware update will not solve the problem. Until the manufacture identifies the problem and provides a solution, the problem is outstanding.
Beside the hardware has to be compatible and can support more frequencies which no one can confirm for the UMI or any other chines unlocked phones.
But, this is just my humble opinion.
I Found a solution (at least for me)
I think I found a solution for my problem. I flashed this very new (2013/07/17) rom, with a new baseband MOLY.WR8.W1248.MD.WG.MP.V7.F2.P1, 2013/07/10 23:14 that corrects 3G dropouts and disconnects. Now my 3g works find, with H and sometimes H+. Fast and reliable like it should be. The link for this new ROM is:

2- You mentioned the updated corrected 3G dropouts and disconnects, but do you know if the update have these frequencies to get 3G?
3G (850, 900, 1700, 1900, 2100 MHz)
HSPA+ 42
P.S
GSM/EDGE/GPRS (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz) original specs

I used the file UPDATE_UMI-X2-THB-ROM-based_on_Official_170713.zip. It was based on the Official ROM from 07/17/2013, but I was unable to find the official stock version. This version has a very new bandbase that, supposedly, fixed the problem with 3G on some operators.
3G on Brazil is on 2100 MHz, sometimes on 850MHz but in my case the problem was on 2.1GHz band. Three WCDMA operators in Brazil, all in the same 2.1GHz frequency, work fine, but VIVO doesn't. Now, with the new rom, it works with no drop outs for over a day now.
no changes or additional frequencies
I successfully applied the update but no changes or additional frequencies
I have serious issues with HSDPA, t-mobile uk works but only on GPRS and it keeps dropping out. GiffGaff seems to work without dropping out. It has worked for a minute on HSDPA today but only once. Other than that t-mobile has been dropping out badly. GPRS works for a bit then it drops out. I have took an MTK modem log with MobileUncle Tools to see what it says but haven't looked at it yet. Trying to work out if it is a hardware issue or Baseband.
I get this from my X2 Radio Logcat:

Hi,
do you have a description and a photo of how you did it?
How long the Cu wire has to be? And where to connect it?
Many thanks in advance.
Hi All,
I got LG G3 D855 international version from eBay last week, I'm wondering if I can get LTE, or H+ network on the phone. On "Network Mode I can see "GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto" listed , when I choose it the signal bars on the notification area start looping, after that it switch back to "GSM/WCDMA" option !
I added a new APN for LTE , but still not working on LTE.
According to T-Mobile coverage map , my area is support 4G /LTE network . The phone is rooted , software version: V10b-GLOBAL-COM (For Hong Kong)
I can get 10-12MB download speed on H, I guessing it will be a way faster on H+ , or LTE.
Any idea about how to get LTE to work?
Thank you,
I'm surprised HSPA is even working, you must be in an area where they moved it to 1900 (Band 2). The D855 model doesn't support the AWS band, also known as Band 4 or the 1700 frequency (so says GSM Arena anyway) . This band is where T-Mobile has their primary network deployments these days. That means no HSPA+ (that's only on Band 4, not Band 2), and no LTE at all.
Bottom line is I don't think you want to be using the Euro D855 model on T-Mobile USA network. Not the right tool for the job.

I think it should still work. Frequencies tmo supports (straight from website):
4G LTE : Band 2 (1900 MHz), Band 4 (1700/2100 MHz), Band 12 (700 MHz)
4G HSPA+: Band 2 (1900 MHz), Band 4 (1700/2100 MHz)
3G HSPA: Band 4 (1700/2100 MHz)
The phone supports 2100MHz and 700MHz, and not 1900 or 1700. I just did a speed test and get 4Mbps reporting it used HSPA+. If that works, I'm not sure why LTE wouldn't unless it *has* to have the 1700 to get LTE.
Edit: here's some info on the 700MHz band http://www.spectrumgateway.com/t-mobile-700a-spectrum. I'll try it when I'm on vacation. I live in NC unfortunately.
Hi, I use LG G3 D855 and looking for solution to get LTE on T-Mobile USA. After some research inside the forum, I decided to try to use CyanogenMod (CM 12.1) on my system.
It works well and now I can enjoy LTE on T-Mobile network, even though not pretty stable yet, but I am good with that since the OS still ongoing development.
You can try to download the OS on Cyanogen official website, and use the latest update available.
In order to confirm if you get LTE signal, beside check on your LTE sign, you can use LTE Discovery apps whenever you lost LTE connection and try to reconnect on an LTE signal.
Oh, forgot to mention, I am located in College Station, TX.
Beware: LTE Band 4 (1700/2100 combo) it's not the same LTE Band 1 (2100 only) that LG G3 D855 supports. Better talk using band numbers not frequencies.
