Hello,
I'd like to upgrade my SGS3 Int XEZ., after two years of using rooted (CF-Root 6.4 + SuperSU + CWM5.5 + CWMManager) stock ROM IMM76D.I9300XXBLFB with franco.Kernel r15, to Paranoid ROM pa_i9300-4.45-20140729.zip.
So I update my custom recovery to CWM 6.0.4.6
Is that enough now to flash my phone using Odin with pa_i9300-4.45-20140729.zip, or should I chage franco kernel first to avoid compatibilty problems with Paranoid ROM?
Thank you for advices.
VicC
If you have custom recovery, you don't use Odin to flash the rom....
And please for the love of all that is holy, use 4.6beta5

Yes, I have custom recovery, so I should flash it using custom recovery\install zip from sd card?
One last question, as I red in some threads, somebody had problem with 64GB card...
My card is formated to FAT32, not a problem?
Is beta5 stable enough? I just dont want to flash to new rom too often...
Since beta 5 is the last kitkat build there is nothing else to flash beyond that no idea about sdcard. Kitkat doesn't support it and we don't officially support that device.

Sorry, maybe I misunderstand you, kitkat doesnt support 64gb sdcards???
So maybe its not good idea to flash paranoid rom to SGS3 if its not officially supported?

You misunderstood.
Google/aosp doesn't support external sdcard at all. Has nothing to do with the size.
And support for your device comes from the legacy team, not PA directly.
In other words, if you need help with that device you need to take it to your device forum, because there is a miniscule chance that anyone in this forum uses it.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 (i9300) with a 32 GB SD card and PA 4.6beta5 and I have no problem. Once when I still had the stock rom I tried a 64 GB SD card formatted with exFAT and was correctly detected by the system. Almost certanly PA doesn't support exFAT, but if you have formatted the card with FAT32 it will work.

Roms yes, ones that see 64gb exfat sdcard, NO
Jumping on this thread to add 2 cents worth...
Biggest frustration for me with T-Mobile roms is hardly ANY of them will recognize my 64 exfat sdcard.
Have tried Carbon, Skynote (version 9 can't see card, version 8 can't see internal memory), Liquid JB 2.1, Paranoid Android, Jedi-x, Jedi Master
Currently successfully using Frosty Jelly Bean Rom for GN2. SO FAR IT'S THE ONLY ONE I CAN USE!!
Is there a particular kernel that can be flashed onto these above-mentioned Roms that will allow exfat 64gb sdcard to be recognized?
So, my request would be for more T-Mobile Galaxy Note 2 Roms that will do so.
Or a solution that will work with most roms.
ps. I have tried flashing Perseus rom, but phone would then not boot. I have heard that I could reformat sdcard to fat32, which may be my answer.

Hi Everyone,
I do know how to flash a new rom however I had issues flashing from stock 4.1.2 to custom 4.2.2 before (device wouldn't pass the boot screen). So do I have to be on a specific 4.1.2 rom to upgrade or I need to upgrade to a stock 4.2.2 first and then upgrade to a custom one?
Please recommend a fast 4.2.2 custom rom. I would like to keep dual sim feature if possible although I know most roms only support single sim.
My current rom info:
4.1.2
Baseband: I9082XXAMC4
Thanks in advance.

simple one line if want dual sim,(stock based roms only)..u can install stock rom 4.2.2....or balliboxers GENNXT rom based on latest firmware...
NOTE: RAM USAGE OF STOCK AND STOCK BASED ROMS IS HIGH....SO LESSER MULTITASKS HANDLES!
if u can compromise with dual sim ..then u can install slimbean roms...(as u mentioned u want lightest and fastest)... but as they are small and fast, they dont have many extra feature lik halo..bt are lightweight..less ram usage...
bt i wonder why u want 4.2.2 rom when u can installl latest kitkat 4.4.2 (cm11,slimkat rom, carbon rom)..
they all are kitkat roms..........
with cm being a base rom for every rom and a light good rom...so is slimkat...and carbon with good future updates including halo features....
if u still wanna stick to 4.2.2 ....then u got slimbean rom...cm rom....(both dont have halo feature),.bt light...or u cn have PAC,resurrection remix rom(for halo multitasking)...
(gaming is better on kitkat roms)
its all ur choice....
if u want any qsns u can ..
hope i helped ..

First of all, thanks for your awesome reply
Basically I'm on stock rom without useless Samsung apps. Instructions for Pac/resurrection says I need to be on stock rom in order to upgrade to 4.2.2. So am I ok to flash their rom or first install a stock rom?
You mentioned kitkat roms are better and I agree, however based on instructions I need to be on 4.2.2 first before upgrading
Which recovery is the best for making nandroid backups? clockworkmod seems to have issues occasionally creating bad backups.
Kitkat roms seems to have app2sd enabled by default, right? and no issues with Xposed framework modules?

xposed is working fine on dalvik runtime(as google introduced new runtime with 4.4 named ART ,WHICH CONSUMES LESS RAM, BUT IS UNSTABLE)...
when they say that u need to be on stock ROM 4.1.2 , they actually mean the 4.1.2 bootloader..so its okat if u are on GENNXT ROM...stock..abit modified stock 4.1.2...(they specifically mean that if u want 4.2.2 rom, be on 4.1.2 bootloader...and if u want kitkat rom..then be on 4.2.2 rom(any stock based 4.2.2 rom like gennxt or slight modifyd 4.2.2 will do , as all they need is 4.2.2 bootloader for kk roms to work)...if u want kitkat rom.....be on stock based rom..which are touchwiz based roms of 4.2.2)....
so flash 4.2.2 rom by odin..and den install kitkat...if u face any problem ....just pm me ...and ya..
always do wipe cache, dalvikcache and data(if told) , whenever u flash anything(before and after flashing)... u can ask any qsna u wanna ask..hope i helped.

one question from my side as well.
I am on stock rooted 4.1.2 rom and I want to upgrade to stock 4.2.2 rom. what would be the best method?
can I install 4.2.2 latest version by flashing via odin directly or do I need to unroot first?
or it will be automatically unrooted when I install 4.2.2(stock) latest over my 4.1.2(stock) by odin?
I hope you got my question.

I finally got the chance to upgrade to stock 4.2.2 via odin and gaining root again. However I was unable to install kitkat. Even though I wiped cache and did factory reset, boot didn't pass the samsung logo. I still have 2 sim support, is it worthed to install kitkat? According to your previous instructions, I needed to be on 4.2.2 base in order to upgrade to kitkat. What would you suggest in my case
Thanks

I am a heavy gamer and performancive device addict..
Kitkat dont have any fancy samsung stuffs bro..bt its all system files are of kitkat so the gaming performance is alot increased.. All game bugs are almost fix which were in 4.2.2......there is work around for every thing..
I mean..think about it..
I never use smart stay...
I nor did use much of live wallpapers as they were battery consuming..the lock screen was fancy but still lets face truth that its just meant for security/unlocking screen ...u will have to compromise with single sim and non fancy apps ..
But it does worth a try..i mean why not ... Give it a shot and i am sure u will find something unique about it...
It got its own features..so ya...its ur wish..there are also downsides of it .....u can check respective threads and know more..

Ok bro, I installed selinux cmw recovery... downloaded CM11... I noticed CM is about 200mb comparing to 1 GB stock 4.2.2. Does that mean I will get more free space on internal sdcard? (out of 4GB I mean)...as others suggested, I need to do full wipe/reset factory and manually format system? and if update wasnt successful I can go back to stock via Odin right?

Hello
I have the Canadian Rogers Samsung Galaxy S3 i747m with 32GB built in and I have a 32GB MicroSD Card.
The phone had Samsung's problematic Android 4.3 version... Then I tried the CyanogenMOD CM-11 M2 Android version 4.4.2 and CM-10.2.1 Android version 4.3.1
I was thinking of just using just going to CM-11 M3 Android version 4.4.2 as I posted all about here... Please read my link from the CyanogenMOD fourm... http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/89918-1021-for-s3-i747m-from-rogers/
But then I found on this forum the different Custom ROMs for the i747m phone that I have as shown here... http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3-att#romList
And I saw 2 youtube videos of the Hyperdrive ROM and I like all the features that it has and all the customizations you can do from it.
What I wanted to know is what Custom ROM will work best on my i747m and be most problem free and What Custom ROMs are still being worked on and updated regularly?
Also if you read my post on the CyanogenMOD forum you will see that I have CM-10.2.1 installed on my phone right now and I want to root my phone and my phone is locked to Rogers and I dont want to change that and I dont want to change my Baseband version either.
Please help me?
Thank you.

Also I want a Custom ROM that works with the MicroSD card... I dont care about App2SD support cause my phone is the 32GB version but I do want apps to be able to save directly to the memory card such as Camera apps saving pictures and videos directly to the SD card and being able to download files off the internet directly to the SD card and stuff like that.
Thanks again.

Hello everyone, I have a new T-Mobile Galaxy Note 3 running stock 4.4.2. The phones been pretty good with the exception of TouchWiz. I HATE TouchWiz. To me it is a deal breaker. I much prefer the vanilla Android experience of my Galaxy Nexus. So I'd like to know if it would be possible for me to install something like CM11 or AOSP? Or should I just exchange my Note for Nexus 5? I apologize if this has been answered before, but as a newb I haven't been able to find a clear answer in searching and I really need an answer with only a couple of days left to exchange my phone.
To skip to the question,
Would it be possible for me to install a ROM like CM11 or AOSP onto my new T-Mobile Note 3 which has been updated to 4.4.2?

Yes, you can install CM11 easily, as long as you don't care about KNOX.
You just need to download your favorite recovery(I use TWRP 2.7), odin install it. Then download the latest version of whatever AOSP ROM you want, and make a backup of your current system in recovery, then format all(excluding internal and external SD), then flash the ROM.

I don't see any CM11 or other AOSP ROM's in the TMO Original Development subforum. My favorite AOSP ROM, SlimROM, only shows the "Hlte" Note 3 as being supported. Which I think is the International N3. Can we flash that on the TMO S3's?

Yes, ALL AOSP Rom's are "Unified" meaning that the HLTE version of their roms support our device, and other hlte versions(AT&T and so on).

Thanks. That's the way it is for the S4 also.
But on the AT&T S4 original development subforums, we actually have AOSP ROM threads. Where as I see none on the TMO Note 3 subforum. Kinda weird.

Try Eclipse V5 if you want a TW rom. I am using it. I just flash it two weeks ago. I also on stock 4.4.2 before this. First time flashing. Never knowing soo much about rom and other stuff. Make sure you read a lot before flashing. Most of the instruction can get online. Although V6 is out, but i still stick with V5. Most V5 info can get from "[ROM][GT-N7100][TW 4.4.4] Eclipse By AC" under "Galaxy Note II Original Android Development". Happy flashing.

i have been using android version 5.1.1 based on CM 12.1 by ivan meler and i have been using this phone with this rom for the past two months , it's development has been completed that means it is the most finished version with literally 0 bug or lags and i must say i didn't expected this kind of performance at all ... this made me revert back to my note from my iphone 6 (you can imagine the smoothness of this rom) i would not recommend you marshmallow based roms becasue about 20 days i tried one and it had issue so if you use this device as a daily driver i would say go for 5.1.1 roms instead and CM 13&MM is still in development phase that means developers are still making it worthy .
you can hit the thanks button if i helped if anyhow .. if you need any noob friendly guide on how to root and install custom roms you can always ask me .. and there are quite of few tutorials on xda a well as Youtube

Yes it's based on CM but I tested some Marshmallow Roms and this ROM is really good.
Try Ivan Meler's Cyanogenmod 13 Rom ( Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow).
It´s pretty stable and i had no problems until build 6.
Wirth build 7 there is a problem with bluetooth for some people.

All the custom ROMs (not Samsung official) must be installed with a custom recovery like TWRP or ClockworkMod. The custom recovery can be installed with Odin.
I have been like a month with CM13 and I had no problems, but if you want a stable ROM, install an older one like CM12.1 aka Lollipop.

OK. And how it's update?
From 12 to 13 When will be stable. Need again flash and wipe or OTA update?
Try Dr. Ketan's kit Kat, N3, N4 and S5 features. Truly superb. Great battery life, Viper FX for sound. Stable. Tried many but always come back to this one.
