My wife's phone's internal SD filled up with some rogue phantom files that wasn't accessible or even visible with file browser app on Stock firmware.
I decided to root and flash with CyanogenMod - being sure to format the system in the hope that those rogue, phantom files were wiped. This didn't work and the attached picture is its current state showing only 2.62GB available where there should be around 8GB available.
Can anyone shed some light on this perplexing issue.
Many thanks

Every now and then, I get a series of folders which look similar to other folders copied but with the front of the folder's name replaced by the symbol seen below. When they appear, I cannot delete them from a PC, but can use any file manager on the phone to delete them from the internal memory. Any ideas? They're always empty. Because of the "~1" at the end of folders, it leads me to believe that maybe my PC is doing this...?

I have the same problems with my netbook. Nobody, also no one from friends, could help still now.
Hope also that there's someone with the right tip...

Are you using u Torrent?
Using latest Sotmax/redpill, simplistic framework, Xposed App settings, MW Manager and Master Key dual fix. I've also activated fat32 to internal mod with the Stweaks app. But that was not the point where the strangeness had started. Even after formatting internal sd, the device will always show 8.xxGb under settings/storage. But in Storage Analyzer app, it'll show 10.5gb of free storage. Again, this happens regardless of the int2ext mod! So the question is, what's going on there?

Don't mind the adressbar showing extSdCard. That's up to int2ext mod.

OK as absurd as it may seem. I came across a problem, which seems simple, but actually has NO solution as far as this device is concerned!
here it goes, as it turns out I have a huge appetite for apps. So I filled the measley 857 MB available SYSTEM ROM rather quickly.
Now, What I want to know is, is there anyway to free up this space without actually uninstalling any of my apps? Unfortunately, it seems I can't move the apps to internal storage because of the 4.3 file structure. So, what other remedy is there? I've searched almost the entire internet really and no one seems to have shed light on this. I'll be grateful if anyone here would give this issue some consideration.

Can anyone please update on what these files are and can they be removed safely.

Don't know what they are. I would suggest you downloading this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.thedarken.sdm. It's a good app for finding unneeded junk on your sd. And cleaning it up...

Those are your partitions. DO NOT MESS WITH THEM. Wipe the wrong partition and you'll end up in the N900T hard brick thread waiting for an answer (or for someone to dump their mmcblk0 for me...)

Thanks for the inputs
I guess they are the nandroid backups taken in TWRP, I figured to move them over to the SD card.
Hi folks,
I've tried looking on the Note 2014 board but can see no trace of this problem anywhere. Basically, the internal storage on my Note is disappearing. I have attached a screenshot that shows the storage on my device:

As you can see on the left circle, I have used 9.8GB of the total 11.79 total storage (available after the system installation) but the right circle shows the distribution of the file types but the numbers don't equate to 9.8GB. All apps show the same thing. Any idea on the cause? I should have far more space than this.
A different app showing the same split:
Many thanks for any help you can give

Nobody else had this? It's really bugging me and the only way around it is a reflash of my rom
