Zergrush work for up to .42 firmware
For later (.62 .69 .79 or .84) firmwares use eroot
Edit: Is DXEngine-Fast.img even a kernel for xperia play?

Ah, you mean extremekernel (i didn't know exact kernel filename).
My guess is that you still have locked bootloader.
If you unlocked bootloader with official sony's method, then i don't know what might be the problem

I've unlock it via flashtools, I relock again and I will try the official sony method, then I will let you know if I still have the problem. Its strange cause before this happen I flashed kernels whitout any problem then flashtools started to give this error
@Bakisha , I was see the comments on the video of the "How to unlock the boot loader of an Xperia device" from sonydev channel and the comments people was saying something about losing the DRM key with that method and camera or bravia engine not working, is it safe to do that on the xplay ?

No, for Xperia Play it doesn't matter (it matter for Xperia 2013+ phones). Once you unlock bootloader, you don't need to relock it ever again.
As i said, i don't know why you can't flash kernel, but here is some general tips:
-reinstall/update flashtool
-reinstall all drivers from device manager related to xPlay
-try different usb cable
-try different (all) usb ports
-try on different pc
-try kernels in ftf format
-redownload kernel you are trying to flash
-try unlocking your bootloader with official Sony's method

Have a bit of a problem updating back to 4.0.2.A.0.62. Since I got my phone all updates was done via PC Companion until I finally decided to take the big step forward and unlocking the bootloader and removing the sim lock. This was done by jinx13 (Thanks again!) My next big step was to root it simply just to get rid of all the bloatware.
My phone was already on the latest version, 4.0.2.A.0.62 via PC Companion as as I understand from the forums, it cannot be rooted and you have to downgrade and then upgrade OTA to maintain root as updating using PC Companion will remove the root functionality.
I got Flastool version 0.6.8.0 and then obtained the LT15i 4.0.2.A.0.42 Generic Global World ftf image from jlmc87's post "ARC/ARC S (ROOT.FTF&.IMG)4.0.2.A.0.62 Generic Global World+Flashtool+Ringtones+Other"
I downgraded to 4.0.2.A.0.42 without a hitch, then removed all the crap using constin's post "The Complete Comprehensive List of System Apps for Xperia Arc" as guidance. I then checked the OTA update and 4.0.2.A.0.62 was listed as available. I then proceeded to download and instaal this upgrade. The phone went through the motions of rebooting a few times and appeared to be upgrading but in the end a dialogue box shows "Software update. Could not install new software version. Try again" I have tried about seven times with the same end result before giving up on this option.
Next I tried to upgrade with a .img and proceeded to download Pre-rooted_LT15i_4.0.2.A.0.62_Generic Global World.img also from jlmc87's post, but how do I install this?
I searched a bit on the forums but could not get instructions suitable for a n00b like me to follow, so it was mostly trial and error and a lot more searching.
Once again I used flashtool and this time round I selected to flash using "Fastboot mode". In the fastboot toolbox I then selected "Reboot into fastboot mode (via ADB) and once this was done and drivers installed I selected the option "Select kernel to Flash" I selected the image and the process started.
I thought I did it and my phone is now back to the latest version whilst maintaining root, but unfortunately I got excited way too soon as the upgrade was not successfull as the "Image wont fit because the partition is too small"
Could this too small partition also be the reason why OTA upgrade didnt work? What to do next? Any help and advice greatly appreciated.

Dude, once you unlock the bootloader, you must not update your phone using any of the Sony update utilities like pc companion or ota update service. This would brick your phone.
Go to general section of this forum and search for the thread named. "FOTA Bricked devices" or something like that...The thread will guide you on how to get your phone back to normal. And the download links in the first post are not working I guess,so navigate yourself to the 16 or 17th pages of that thread to find the working download links.
Sent from my LT15i using XDA
Hi KingWickedd, thanks for your comments. My phone is not bricked, it is fine, all I want is to upgrade it to firmware version 4.0.2.A.0.62 whilst still maintaining root. Currently it is still on 4.0.2.A.0.42
I will not upgrate using PC Companion or OTA but can not install a pre-rooted IMG image of .62 firmware.

OMG! You are trying to flash a system image in the boot partition!?
Instead of using Flash Tool, use fastboot and command prompt to flash the img file to the system partition.
Code:
fastboot flash system system.img
Remember to download the fastboot package and then copy the img file to fastboot folder, rename it to system.img and run the above code in the command prompt after navigating to the fastboot directory.
Or simply use this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1551073
Remember to flash that img file to "system" partition and not the boot partition.
Thank you very much!! That did the trick!! Thanks for pointing out the huge mistake I (almost) made!!
I updated using QuickIMG
Hi im having trouble changing kernel using flash tool in fastboot mode..

NO NO NO NO!!!! Don't do that! That will delete you DRM-Keys so TrackID and Music unlimited WILL NOT WORK.
Instead use s1tool (since i guess your status is yes)

a xperia arc, broken?
hey guys, hmm,
I was hesitating about posting here, but now that I have no choice.. -_-''.
I installed this ROM, ultimate HD 3.0.2 on my xperia arc with locked bootloader, successfully, but the keyboard was not working, and i found no soultion, so I thought about reinstalling it, but this time I remembered that, somewhere, I read that I could install the version for xperia arc s, unfortunately, at this moment, I got stupid enough to do it u_u''.
So now you understand that I installed ultimate HD for xperia arc s on my xperia arc, and the result was===> guess what!
My xperia arc never booted successfully after that: the sony screen appears, than the phone reboots, and does the same thing again and again. I don't even have to push the power on/off button, it just shows the sony screen and keeps rebooting whenever the battery is connected..
I know for quite sure that my phone is broken, but isn't there any chance that I can repare it xD?
I'm a student, and I sincerely got no money for buying a new one -_-.
PS: when pushing the volume-down button, I can not access the recovery.
I hope my english and my phone's situation are not too much catastrophic.
Thank you.
I'm new here so I'm not quite sure if this is the right place for my post.

Please help as soon as possible, I need this for my work!
I'd put the following ROM on my Xperia Arc S: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2290527
But now, I only see the sony logo and not more. I tried to go in recovery, but this also didn't work...
My question is: Is there any way to restore it? I did back-up the previous, I don't need that hardly, all I need is this phone working again!
Can someone give me some steps and/or links that might fix it?
Thank you very much!
Matthijs

Ok, for flashing kernel you need fastboot drivers. I think you can install fastboot drivers while installing Flashtool. You can also use app called QuikIMG. Here's the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1551073
Hope it will help you

To flash a kernel you have to have an unlocked bootloader. That's why it tells you the device has to be rooted first. Unlock the bootloader and it should be fine
How to do that is in my guide on how to unlock the bootloader

Ok, look, Xperia Ultimate HD is ICS based rom so you need ICS kernel for it, while SJB is JB Rom and you need JB kernel for it. If you want to try SJB you must flash JB kernel (Fusion/Lupus/nAa are those which I remember) after flashing them you can flash the ROM itself.

BTW I'm using Honami ROM Superlative edition I'm trying to install LUPUS V16
Is your device unlocked?
I mean, you NEED the bootloader to be unlock to flash a custom kernel. It's a different thing from root.
There is a tutorial in the sony website:
http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/
Or, there is an option (i guess in the flastool thread) for testing if you had (or not) the bootloader unlock
.
yes sir my bootloader is unlocked. Thanks for your reply
Try to use QuickIMG to flash kernel bro.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1551073
type *#*#7378423#*#* in your phone
Service Info -> Configuration
is there
Bootloader unlocked: Yes
then your bootloader is open
Thanks!
