[Q] Google User Picture on notification bar gone. - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This might seem a little trivial to some, but this is bugging me like crazy lol, when i initially updated to Lollipop i got my Google User picture showing up in the top right hand corner of the notification drop down bar, well after a reset (to cure a rogue app eating battery) this no longer shows up, just the generic green circle with the outline of a head, despite the phone been setup exactly how it was before it just wont set it again - I dont suppose any of you guys know if i need to change something somewhere or anything like that.
Sorry if its a little too trivial just these type of things bug me hehe.

Done!

Well i didnt think to actually press on that to change it, when it updated to Lollipop from KitKat it did it without any user input at all, but thanks for the help its much appreciated.

To bring that back open up G+ go into settings > Account settings > contacts - Check "keep contacts up to date" if its already checked, uncheck and check again.

disable message, screen illumination, download full email

Hello, everyone;
I've got a TP2 on WinMo 6.5 Pro, and would like to modify it a wee bit to do the following.
First, the signal lost, call dropped window that pops up. I'm an over the road truck driver, and this happens alot in the mountains. Is there any way to disable this silly message?
Second, the backlight always comes on whenever it looses/regains a signal. This is an extreme annoyance, bordering on dangerous, situation when driving at night and I am constantly distracted by the sudden glow from the screen. Can this be disabled?
Finally, emails. Is there a setting that will force the entire email to download, doing away with the tap-here-to-download-entire-message thing?
Much appreciated, everyone, and best wishes for a great day!
Fred
Not sure on 1 or 2, sorry. For 3:
-Launch the inbox (Microsoft version, not Sense). Scroll to Email tab and tap Inbox
-Menu --> Tools --> Options
-Tap on the account
-Tap on "Download Size Settings"
-Message download limit dropdown --> Entire Message
-Download Attachments dropdown --> All attachments
Edit: Not really a solution for the second issue, but if you turn on the "Automatically adjust backlight" feature it won't be quite so bright when it does turn on. Start --> Settings --> System --> Power. Check "Automatically adjust backlight".
Perfect! Issue 3 solved. Thanks, bud.
Anyone for the other two?
entire message
From the inbox of an email account - tap the soft button to the right of the keyboard one (menu?). tap on tools then options - tap on the account you wish to modify. You should see an option for Download Size Settings - select "entire message from the bottom drop down menu then click done.
If you are going through an Exchange Server then run the Activesync app on the phone. Click menu then options. Hightlight "email" then tap on settings. Change the download size limit to "entire message" and ok your way out.
I can't help with the other issues as I am new to this phone too.
Ok. Someone beat me to it.
No worries, mate, thanks for chiming in. You did illuminate another method, and thankfully you two have solved one annoying issue. The others will require entering the registery, I'm sure.
Thanks!

On the Email Issue, go to the inbox, tap and hold to bring up the context menu, select Tools / Options, and you can modify the download settings.
settings\sounds and notifications\ notifications tab... in there you can change what different 'events' do.
If there is a setting in your phone for what you want it will be in there.. if not It's likely a registry change you need to do. That I cant help you with as I wouldn't know what you need to change specifically.

[Q] browser speed and top icon

I think browser smoothness sucks. It's jerky and sucks.
What is a plus icon like health think in top menu notification bar? It's always on left.
What is icon that has 4 arrows up down left right with circle in it with plus line in middle?why does notification menu always disappear in browser? Never used to. Always have to hit menu to see it and the time etc.
Overtime I click on a download in notification bar I get force close Android.browser.
How do I make all sound the same volume? I hate having to adult everything separate.
How do I make phone stop vibrating on power on and shutdown?
I turn volume for everything to minimum. Still too loud. How do I make keyboard click sound quieter but not off and same for boot sound Droid?
How do I get apps top stop launching on startup? I don't want 99% of them. I'll never use blacker or Google talk and more.
How do I stop their processes and keep them from starting again immediately?
How do I stop Droid boot sound so there is no start up sound but phone still has sound when its fully booted?
Advance task killer sucks. Apps just start up right after you quit them.
Why does swype always stop working after a few hrs? Text boxes always flash and make a doing anytime you try to type. Have to reinstall or disable and hope re enable and hope it works. So I don't use it till they fix it.
I'd really appreciate a response and answer to all my questions please. These issues are driving me bonkers.
Sorry for so many ? All these issues really tick me off.
Oh god dude. You should have numbered these.
Here I'll answer a few.
"I think browser smoothness sucks. It's jerky and sucks."
>> Depends on what webpage you're looking at and how much active content it has. Also depends on the Kernel, ROM and moreso the browser you are using (stock browser I assume)
"What is icon that has 4 arrows up down left right with circle in it with plus line in middle?"
>> This is location service. Basically it's like a crappy GPS.
It triangulates your position from nearby cell towers. Usually will give a distance within 1-3 miles radius of where you actually are, some applications for weather especially use it to determine approx. where you are so it can give you an accurate readout for weather.
Also google.com will use this by default to give you search results more accurate to your location.
"why does notification menu always disappear in browser? Never used to. Always have to hit menu to see it and the time etc."
>> You probably have a setting that has it set for 'full screen'. Check settings on there.
I'm not familiar with stock browser because I uninstalled it and I use "Dolphin HD Browser" - suggest you give it a try
"Overtime I click on a download in notification bar I get force close Android.browser."
>> Download from browser or a download from some place like the Market?
Not sure on this one, are you running stock or custom ROM?
"How do I make all sound the same volume? I hate having to adult everything separate."
>> Are you talking about how Media and Ringer are different volume settings?
"How do I get apps top stop launching on startup? I don't want 99% of them. I'll never use blacker or Google talk and more."
>> Root your phone if you haven't already. If you don't know how then you came to the right place, search up- it's not hard and doesn't take long.
After it's rooted you can use "root uninstaller" to uninstall the crap that you don't need.
Stuff like Google Talk will massively kill your battery life if you're not careful about it.
"Advance task killer sucks. Apps just start up right after you quit them."
>> Task Killers are completely useless. Stop using them, you're doing more harm than good
Use a program like "autostarts" or uninstall the program like I explained above.
"How do I stop Droid boot sound so there is no start up sound but phone still has sound when its fully booted?"
>> You can change your boot animation by flashing a new one.
Your phone must be rooted, search up how to by using the search bar at the top.
The rest I don't know or don't want to take the time to explain.
Cheers.
Thanks.
yes the volume slides for everything. Even at the lowest the startup Droid sound and keyboard click sound are too loud.
yes in the default browser I click to download something. It goes to status notification bar at top. when I click on one item I am downloading sometimes it opens a progress window that shows all I am downloading. But most of the time I get the Android.browser has quit unexpectedly force close window.
I'm not sure about rooting since I don't wanna mess up anything. I like sense mostly too. oh yeah.
how do I shut off the auto location for weather? its never accurate. how come HTC creaking sucks balls they don't have most small and even most major cities? passes me off I can't find even the capital of Montana or butter Montana or tukwila, wa and many more.

[Q] Notification bar 1 sec bug

Hey guys...
i have the Z1C running on 4.4.2.
Before i rooted the phone i got the problem that sometimes when i want to wake my phone out of stand by and i'm about to unlock it then i get the problem that only for one second i got a notification symbol like Settings, Call-Icon, and so on. in the top left corner, but only for a moment.
And this problem is only since 4.4 .
Root or no root makes no difference.
Can anybody confirm this or is it possible that a app causes this to happen?
i want to know that too!!
a guy told me to disable remotesharing (or something like that) in notification menu, but i didnt get it either.

[Q] Headphone insert notification

Hello,
I reset my z1c to factory settings and now I'm trying to get the look and feel back as it was before.
I made screen prints from my xposed modules but I did not do this for the normal phone settings.
When I plug in a headphone I always get the message 'Headphone connected', this message stays on top for a short while before disappearing.
I know I did not get this before resetting my phone and I like to switch it off but I dot know the application responsible for this notification.
I know there is a big list of apps in the manage notifications section of settings - personalisation.
I guess it must be one of those apps in the list but I do not know which one.
I know I can switch them off one-by-one but this is a tedious operation I'd like to avoid.
Does anybody know which app to switch off in this list?
Thanks

Notification Icons not showing in status bar

Hi all -
Trying to see if this is normal behavior or a bug, but I have two notifications on my lock screen (Messages and Outlook). When I unlock the device, in the top left, I just see the clock and "AT&T". When I drag the status bar down, I see my messages and outlook notifications (they are not silent or minimized). Why would I want to see AT&T instead of these notifications? Is there an option I'm missing to remove the carrier info?
I'm having the same issue, you are not alone. I spent more than an hour going through every single setting, but found nothing on how to fix this issue.

Just to try and narrow the issue, are you also on an AT&T device?
Fair enough, my apologies.
I have Sprint, and this is happening on my Galaxy S20.

I think that is actually super helpful information. This appears to be a OneUI issue, rather than an android, carrier, or particular model issue. So it needs to somehow get reported to Samsung for a fix... Does anyone here know if there a public place where Samsung tracks bugs for these devices?
Or does anyone know a writer who would pick up this story for a media outlet to shine some light?
Just to try something, have you toggled the setting in status bar section that says show all notifications?
I'm taking about opening quick settings toggles, pressing the three dots menu and then status bar.
I hadn't tried that, no. However, I just did and that didn't change anything.
My wife has an S20 Ultra on AT&T, and she's seeing this as well. I know there's a way to request support or post your issue to the community in the Samsung Members app. I may try to do that from her phone later today.
I've had issues with app notifications and icon badges since the S8, they never seem to get them to work properly

UPDATE
I was using the trial for Sprint's Call Screener program. I turned it off earlier, and now I no longer see "Sprint" in the status bar. I see the icons like I should. I have no idea if that is what solved the problem or not, but I didn't receive an update today and that's the only thing I can remember changing.
Go to settings, display and change 'Full screen Apps' to Auto for all
I played with that setting. It didn't have an affect on the notification issue.

Vinsuja, that setting did not work for me, however you sent me on the right path. I have had this same issue with notification not showing. I found that the camera cut out setting is causing this. Go to settings > display > full screen apps > click 3 dots for advanced settings > turn on hide camera cutout. This adds a black bar at the top, but fixes the notification issue
Edit: You can turn the setting back off and notifications will appear. This seems to be an issue with the full screen UI
Try using QuickStar in Good Lock (if you don't have good lock yet, its in the galaxy store). Under "visibility of indicator icons" you can turn off "Network Information" on homescreen, lockscreen and Expanded QS panel, that should hide your AT&T/Sprint etc etc label in the status bar. Interestingly enough I have a Bell S20, by default for my region carrier name is not shown.. which is a bonus...
