Has anyone tried the SteelConnect M 180 with the Pebble Steel band?
Contacted SteelConnect's support, but they linked me to some glittery band thing...
If you have tried it - can you post a picture?
Thanks...

Fitting fine and working fine are two very different things... I am aware that the Pebble Steel band fits fine, but I'm also aware that more often then naught it causes the plastic backplate to crack.
However, thank you for your input.

I use the silver pebble steel straps on my moto 360 hadn't had any problems with cracking or rubbing or hurting my watch in any way.
You can ask you to put photos?
Steelconnect had a post that shows why the Pebble Steel band won't fit nicely on their adaptor:

The covers are probably plastic with metal painting, like in cars.
If it was all metal, it will interferre too much with the antennas on the device. This thing has GSM, WiFi, bluetooth, FM Radio, GPS antennas.

So you think it'll be ok?
If you get one, please let us know how your fingers lile having to open the metal cover without resorting to tools of any kind yes?
Also a general look and feel. Wether or not it's as stiff or even more so than the plastic version. How it affects reception and weight and general handling of the device.

I'm interested in this as well as the factory plastic cover has quite a bit of flex to it, which seems necessary for removal. Metal may be too rigid.

I watched a video review and the reviewer of one for the S2 mainly said:
It doesn't affect the sensors, signal, etc.
It adds weight and a little bulk
It is a little hard to take off
I'm kind of worried about metal conducting heat and becoming super hot.

That's what it looks like... it also says "metal plated"... that means this is plastic with a metal coating of some sort. It will probably still flex like the plastic...

Another thing. These are made for these rather cool, extremely tough/ flexible (key word here is: extremely flexible) plastic.
You do NOT want to use metal. You would probably really **** the thing up.
Just a thought.
If you want metal, get a metal case that has a plastic/rubber coat for protection of the finish (not the other way around).
Actually, thinking about this, this fake metal case is sounding better
I found one for $14 on ebay. For that price, I'll try it out.

Just bought one! Will let you guys know how it goes.
To test if metal affects reception of any if the radios, an external thin plate of metal can be used. See if any signal drops. I am looking for such a metal sheet but no luck so far. You guys can give it a try may be.
I grabbed 2 nylon bands from Bestbuy without thinking how they would attach. Got home and realized I would need an adapter. I ordered one of the Kickstarter ones but I'm impatient. I picked up 2 22mm spring rod from a local watch shop (the guy wouldn't let me pay for them). I creased the nylon and stuffed it into the little gap, and forced the spring rods in. It took some work to soften the nylon but it worked. I used the little flathead/nail file on my Leatherman Style. No damage at all during the installation. I really don't use the heartbeat sensor at all. So not a big deal it's covered up.
The back and charger
nice band
and nice gun lol

I really hate to bump and old thread but, this is nothing short of genius. I've always wanted to put a NATO on my Moto but I never though it was possible!
Have you had any cracks as a result if this?, I personally think the style in which NATOs are attatched should prevent any cracking but I may be wrong.
Thankyou for posting this!
I didn't but really packed the strap behind the pins so it really never flexed or had movement.
I just got those 22mm adapters to use any watchband ... They are alright but the watch sits up higher and slides all around on the NATO strap
Being as the SmartWatch 3 is kinda modular, what are the chances a "nicer" wrist strap will eventually be available?
Would be nice to use the rubber strap for running/ working out and other more outdoors environments and be able to slip it into a more elegant leather (my preference) or metal strap option. Any news on a possible Sony or third party option like this?
I would like this too,
I've heard some rumours on some tech websites about a metal strap coming, but any concrete details are scarce.
I don't get it really as sony would be onto a real winner here if they just made some premium straps that we could buy and swap out according to our needs. The main criticism of the sw3 is that it's unattractive. I think that's mainly to do with the functional nature of the strap.
My SW3 wont arrive until Monday, so I've yet to see or handle it in person and don't know how it exactly slips into the strap. Don't know if it would be an issue to slip it into a strap that isn't at least partially rubber? What do you guys that actually have one think?
Either way, I ended up winning a Asus ZenWatch on ebay that will be my more dressy option. I really like the look of the ZenWatch, I personally prefer it over the Moto 360 or LG G watch R.
I nice looking leather/metal band option would give the Smartwatch 3 some real flexibility though. I'll keep looking to see if it happens.
Looks like the Smartwatch 3 holder will be the answer from Sony for a way to use your preferred style band. Mine arrived today just in time to hear the news. Still it not as nice as I would hope.

looks plastic, that why I'm not so excited. Still doesn't look very premium. Wish it was black metal or SS.
I haven't seen anything stating the watch pops out of the new metal model. Would be nice if you could just buy the metal band.
Here are a few additional pics I found:
Thanks guys.
So I am gonna buy the metal watch.

I found the stone grey leather band stained with sweat and looked a bit crappy after a while.
I bought the official metal band which is really good.
Personal preference though.
I would go with the metal option if you go with the silver 360. The black 360 looks great with the black leather band and it wears well, even with sweat etc. If silver though, as noted above, the stone band does not wear well. I went with the metal band and bought a Cognac brown leather band at Best Buy to go with it. I scrubbed the band down with acetone, let it dry and treated it with 4 coats of mink oil, heat and hand rubbed and it is a gorgeous rich dark brown now that just looks awesome. So I have the best of both worlds with it now IMO. I am looking for someone to trade my new stone band for a black one now lol

$50 more for Metal, makes it way worth it. I've noticed its very staple and looks very polished. Overall its a lot better in terms of weight and looks. Plus I'm certain it protects the back of the device way better then leather when its sitting down.

Lighting is terrible but this should give you an idea. It is a little darker than it appears in the pictures.
i contemplating getting the huawei with steel link band(i dont like the look of the mesh band).
i was wondering how easily does the watch and steel link pick up scratches?
it would drive me crazy if it scratches easily.
Thanks
I have the black stainless steel both watch and band. Have been wearing the watch for almost couple months. I think it's holding up ok. Now that you asked, I took a close look at the band and I don't see anything that makes me go, WTH? So, in my book, that's a big pass
thanks for the reply
glad to hear it holds up.
now to decide between the black/black band or stainless w/ metal band.

YES. It does I was just about to come here and ask aswell. I've had my silver one for a week and a half and it's already covered in micro scratches. And I used a special cleaning cloth for it, it didn't help.

It does. It stings for a minute. But what do you expect from stainless steel? The watch still shines obviously. But when you have a good eye site and pays attention to detail, why yes you can definitely tell. I'm not going to trip though if it gets really bad to the point it's not shiny then it's as simple as using something to take away the scratches and it'll go back to NEW. Unlike black, ones that scratches there goes the paint

Yes, you can see the wear and tear as well as minor nicks on the black. I use black sharpie to cover them up lol.

Indeed!
So far with my aftermarket band and stainless steal body I still do not have even micro scratches. Not that I am hoping for them but I did hit the bezel against some materials hard than I would have liked and there is no evidence of scratching.
I got the stailess steel one and its all scratched on the upper side . I gave up feeling bad about that, just accepted the fact that it gets scratched, still shiny but I can see the scratches.

my silver watch is all scratched up on the outside to.. any way to fix it?
It's stainless steel.. If you take it to a jeweler they can polish it and get most of the scratches out. I have a stainless steel Rolex and get it serviced every few years. It always goes in scratched to hell and comes back to me looking brand new pretty much.
