[Q] Note 8.0 LTE (GT-N5120) Kitkat 4.4 - Galaxy Note 8.0 (Tablet) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooti

HI all,
I'm a Hong-konger. My tablet is GT-N5120 LTE version. Samsung does not release 4.4.2 firmware for this region.
Can I install other region's one, such as UK or Singapore firmware for my tablet ?
Just worry if the firmware in other region make the phone feature of this tablet not work.
regards, Ray

I'm in Australia and I used the UK version and then reflashed my carrier's previous modem - it all worked brilliantly.

Hi, what should I do to reflashed the previous modem?

I am from HKG, too. I used the N5120XXDNH3 (BTU) and the modem that comes with it. It worked and I don't need to install extra modem file. My carrier is one2free 4G. Hope this helps.

Like above said. Go to www.samfirmware.com, then go to "Firmwares and Files", choose Model and whichever country you want, and download it. Then, use Odin to flash it into your phone. Simple.
Your phone should be the international note 2. The model is "GT-7100 - Galaxy Note II".
Do you need to be rooted first before flashing a new ROM?
I am receiving a Chinese version tomorrow (UK), and was wandering if I could just change the CSC code and get get rid of anything that's in chinese language?
Thankyou

What you mean by international version?
What are the differences?
I ask because I am failing to flash mine and it might not be international (probably).
Thanks

If your phone doesn't have 4G (LTE), then it's the international version, GT - N7100.

I had stock on mine (but rooted) until a few minutes ago when I was updating the ROM. The original stock firmware was listed as the same as most of the other ROMs (T310XXUAMF1). Upgraded should be T310XWUAMG3 I believe.
http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=SM-T310
Region code on mine in Montreal is XAC.
Google: firmware sm-t310 XAC
Then use Odin

I wonder if Restoring via Kies as mentioned here would work for the GT-S7560M too?
When submitting my Serial Number, Kies gives me the following
"Initialized Version: PDA:MF4 / PHONE:MF4 / CSC:MF1 (CHO)"
How can I verify that that's the same as what I have right now?
How can I make sure I have my phone back to the original state in case I have to give it back to the carrier with guarantee issues?
I read that "any firmware" would do for this phone, but mine is not listed on sam-mobile (Tigo Bolivia).
The baseband is available as coming from various countries (including Guatemala as "Daver18qc's Deodexed/Rooted Guatemala" as mentioned in the FAQ just that that has a different baseband.) - Does that matter?
Thanks
EDIT: Works with Kies for Mac on a soft bricked S7560m
stock firmware

[Q] Firmware

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 (SM-T800). I currently have CyanogenMod 12 installed, but i want to go back to my stock firmware.
when i search my device on the SamMobile firmware site, it gives a bunch of firmwares for different countries, but it does not give one for the United States, where i am living
Does it matter which firmware i use? Will i still receive OTA updates if i choose a random firmware?
Hi. United states is labeled as "Cellular South" on sammobile. BTW flashing different firmwares from a different country should work. Ota updates should still function too. Just flash the USA(celluar south) one first hope this helps!

Thanks for your answer - I was wondering the samething. Why do they refer to the United States as Cellular south????
Anyway, Got a question about flashing the firmware from Sammobile on a rooted device.
I currently have a rooted Galaxy Tab S running 4.4.2, and would like to upgrade to 5.0.2.
Samsung blocks the OTA since my tablet is rooted, so I plan to use Odin and the firmware from Sammobile.
Will I loose root if I flash the 5.0.2 firmware using Odin?
Thanks

Don't know.
I do not know how it behaves with other countries. I have changed with the German A70 of the Telekom to the free firmware. For Vodafone there is still no new firmware. You could try the PHN software for Netherlands. But if it does not work you can not go back until Vodafone releases a newer firmware than the current one. Everything at your own risk. Just look at sammobile.

Which free firmaware, and how do you flash (change) the firmware?
Don't expect regular monthly updates as the A series is only scheduled for quarterly updates
It came however in the free firmware without Branding already 2 new updates. while Vodafone and Telekom have not rolled out yet. In these updates, the camera and the fingerprint scanner has been improved.
You can load the firmware at Sammobile and flash with Odin.
However, at your own risk.
Somehow Samsung is strange anyway. There are newer firmware in India and Iraq than in Europe.

But you can not flash an older version with Odin, right? Then you always get an error message. Or is it possible to work around that? The binary must always be higher or equal.
XXU2

Smaller does not work, right?
