If one Android device is configured to use VPN by its own wireless network. And then if we turn on the Wifi hotspot AP (tethering) of that Android device.
Now if Kindle Fire can hook that Android device as Wifi AP, can then Kindle Fire use the VPN as well?
Thanks for any useful clue
In theory yes
However i have yet to find apps that allow that to happen in practice. The issue is the routing from the private ip range that the tethering app will provider to your connected guests to the address your phone has been assinged by the VPN.
I have tried a number of applications such as barnacle, foxfi, and the built in android tether in conjunciton with both a SSL and L2TP vpn and not had any luck getting it working yet.
If you find out how I would love to know also. Would be very handy for traveling with the kids and wife etc.

VPN will affect all of traffic
Most (paid) VPN services don't limit your bandwidth
Yes but it's not noticeable.
I actually set up my own VPN following this guide so I have unlimited bandwidth and very good download speed and it costs me only $5/mo.
I've used unblock-us for MLB.tv on the fire seamlessly for a month or so now.... very happy with it.
I only change the primary DNS on the fire to unblock-us and leave the secondary on my local ISP.

I'm based in NZ with FireTV using unlock-us, streaming Netflix, Amazon Prime and iPlayer. Speed is not noticeably a problem, and with unblock-us I have the ability to 'exist' in the UK and the US at the same time so I can use both countries services.
It's a simply DNS change so not encrypting any traffic, just masking your location so you can view blocked resources.

How did you install the Netflix app? I tried from the Amazon store, but it is still restricted by region. I use unotelly (similar to unblock-us).

Thanks, it turned out my issue was that me Amazon account was an amazon.com.au account. I created a US based Amazon account and changed to that and all was good.
Hello everyone....I am running pre-rooted version 51.1.40.0_user_514006420 on the Fire tv. While running certain apps like Rdio, Hotlist Internet TV & allrecipes, I get the following error:
"A secure connection is recommended to use this app. we were unable to establish a secure connection and recommend that you try again later. "
No matter how many times I try running the app again, I keep getting same error message.
Any ideas on what could be causing this issue and what would be solution?
PS; Fire tv is connected to the US VPN with PIA.
I donĀ“t know these apps but probably they request https:// connections instead of http:// and maybe your VPN doesn't support https (HTTP Secure) or it needs to be enabled at first.
Also, it could be that the apps do not allow a VPN connection. Lot of sites and apps are no longer allowing users to use VPN connections to visit their site or use their apps. One the site detects you are using a VPN thy will stop you from entering.
To check if your VPN supports https:// if you have a browser just o to google.com, then look in the address bar and if the address starts with https:// you will know if thats the problem. Google addresses will always start with https:// unless your VPN does not support it or if you have https:// turned off somehow.
Hi,
yes there are lots if threads. But I am looking for a particular fix.
I am using a fire tv stick.
I sideloaded pulse secure VPN but cannot control it to set it up. Remote mouse apps don't work.
Does anybody know if there is a way or could someone sideload and trst it who has a bluetooth mouse?
The other idea was whether it is possible to use my mobile phone as a virtual router. When I create a VPN connection on my phone I can use Netflix with my national program. But I cannot duplicate my phones screen to the fire tv. So no mirrorcast or anything. Is there a fix for this? Or is there a way to use my phone as a virtual router? VPN on my phone and then conncect to the phone as wifi hotspot? Would kind of need two wifi services in parallel. Hotspot and normal connection...
Any ideas?
Am I able to connect an amazon firetv to an ipsec vpn headend? I'd like to put a firetv at my parents house and have it connect back to my firewall at my house via my already configured and working ipsec vpn service on my firewall. It's not openvpn or an external provider, its running off of my home connection. If so, would this require a rooted firetv device? End goal is to use it as a sony playstation vue client on my account.
My SW version currently is Fire OS 5.2.4.1 (573210520)
and the fire tv home version is 5.7.3-17
not sure if this is a ftv 1 or 2? How would I tell the difference?
