You should use Vanilla AOSP as base cause its most stable. Search xda on how to port ROMs and it should give you a good tutorial. I think its a matter of copying files. Good luck!

Hello everybody!I am thinking about porting sense 3.6 rom form desire S to desire,because I think sense 3.6 is base on android 4.0.4 sothat I want to use AOKP/CM9 to help port that rom and it is much more easiler than porting sense 4 rom,anyway,can someone help me porting sense3.6 or kernel? because I love HTC sense but I want to have a easier porting way because I can have AOKP/CM9 base
Anyway,Can someone help me to port this rom or port kernel,I am thinking about to add kernel 2.6 first in alpha version and port kernel 3 in other section for test
Because I am not a developer,so I will only port the Rom and just fix little bugs,other bugs will pass to other developers to fix it,also I am only a junior member sothat I will pass the Rom to other developers to release it(if available)

Hi everyone! I'm trying to learn how to make some development, in particular i'm trying to port my first ROM for the HOX.
Actually I intend to do this only for personal use because i'm a noob, but if i succeed then i will publish my work.
The point is: i'm searching for a CM 10.1 rom to use as base, are those ones from development thread right to use or I have to use another kind of rom as base? Thanks to you all!

Well that's not precisely a port cause HOX has that kind of rom already available. Why don't you compile it from scratch? You'll learn a lot and better from it

Just search on Google Rom porter it is a porter tool for windows it isn't very hard to follow.

Looks like I may finally be updating my current ROM setup.
LOL
I've tried every custom ROM build released from 4.2-4.4.2 and just could never get any of them to run as smooth as PA 4.1.2 with all the features/functions I wanted l, most importantly tablet mode w/full screen stock browser.
So 4.1.2 has been my daily driver since Nov 2012.
The user that made this could be helpful. It ported it to an (at least for me) unknown device.

I already got the ROM before it launched so that I can port it , but its of no use / no luck.

It's from a different chipset.
Nokia X and the Cherry Mobile Flare S100 share the same chipset. (qualcomm msm8625 and adreno 203)
while the Galaxy Nexus is on a TI Omap and PowerVR.
So i think you're just headed towards a dead end.
So, if Nokia X's ROM is impossible or very difficult to port what about trying to port stock rom from Moto X? Just asking. It would be huge.
After the flashing i reboot my phone and i see the nokia boot animation but its freeze at the boot animation?
