Lg g3 d855 - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Guys , today I received an OTA UPDATE of 'v20b-DEC-22-2014 (533.65) MB' on my LG G3 D855 .
I have rooted it successfully using Purple drake root .
However , frequently my play store cannot connect to internet.
I did hosts trick but still it happens multiple times a day!
Now the scene is when I add google account , I see no contatcts option under sync!
Also , is lollipop stable enough ?
And are there enough root possibilities ?
if not tell me how to install CWM (TWRP ) on my international G3?
Hopefully somebody helps me out !

I think you're in the wrong section. Should move this but anyways,
for root:
http://www.androidrootz.com/2014/07/how-to-root-lg-g3.html
for installing TWRP:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/recovery-teamwin-recovery-modem-support-t2939088
and to answer your question, yes, Lollipop is stable. Sounds like your gapps is broken. Just flash wtv AOSP lollipop rom of your choice, flash Lollipop gapps then reboot. If you choose Lollipop stock based roms then gapps is not needed. (already included)

I factory resetted my g3 lost root but still on 4.4.2 !
Still I am facing gapps error!
When I add a google account , I cannot sign in and If I do sign in , I cannot sync my contacts!
Error I get 'Can't establish a reliable connection to server ! '
It worked well before I rooted by Purple drake method!

Did a factory reset or flashed back the stock rom completely? If you only did a factory reset, that is not going to fix the gapps issue. it's still broken.
Try rooting it again then flash TWRP img via flashify app from google play (or download apk on pc, transfer to phone via usb and install since your google is not working)
download the stock lollipop rom then transfer the zip file to your phone
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/stock-t2961073
Enter recovery mode. (google it if you have no idea which button to press)
once in recovery, click wipe option then advanced wipe. just tick on the dalvik cache/system/data/cache and leave the rest. now swipe to wipe (dont reboot)
now go back to recovery main menu, click on install then look for the stock rom zip that you had transfered to your phone earlier on. click it and simply swipe to flash it.
finally reboot once done.
Everything should be fine after this.

Actually because of Xposed tweaks can you tell me how I can stay on stay on rooted stock 4.4.2 roms?
I mean I really loved stock 4.4.2 with gapps working !

Suppose can i uninstall play store and gmail via titanium backup?
Maybe sometime can share Google play store and gmail apk patched to work on Android 4.4.2 rooted stock g3 ?

Hi guys,
I am new here. and new to Android too. I got an LG G3 a few days and updated it via OTA to Lollipop.
I am curious because I thought there were no way to root an LG G3 under Lollipop.
Or is it the other way around? Meaning you had it rooted before making the update to Lollipop?
Thanks

play store and gmail alone won't be enough tho since you had issues with contact as well right? reflashing gapps would be a better option tho. it would replace the whole google services.

If you have custom recovery and root the ota update obviously wont work. I had asked the developer of root for our devices for the otas and this is what he had said:
dalingrin said:
My suggestion, if you want to keep root don't take an OTA.
If you really want to stay with stock LG then you'll want to flash updates via custom recovery. The community will take the updates from LG and make them flashable with TWRP or CWM.

Yeah there is a script that runs when you do a OTA. My buddy had to completely restore to stock using download mode to fix his. You may get lucky with doing a factory wipe but sounds like flashing a new rom didn't even help... Look through the forums and find the thread that guides you through doing a regular restore (this will restore you to the original software. You will be unrooted and your recovery will go back to stock. This means you can do the OTA if you so desire. Just keep in mind it may block Loki and root)

Thanks for the reply mate,
Yeah i will do like that , but surely there is a way somewhere to remove the boot loop , from TWRP you can remove edit files.
So if someone with more knowledge tell us where the OTA files give the command to boot to recovery we can remove it.
Cheers

Post your problem in twrp's thread. Drgravy replies often and he knows more than anyone what to do in a situation like yours.
Thanks all for your help ....
I unbricked the device with FlashTool.1.0.54 , i flashed the original firmware , the strange thing this did not wipe my data, only removed Custom recovery and root.

To be honest I didn't mention any chances , sure they (lg) updated their apps but I haven't notice any system chances , but then again I can't take it from my kids and wife hands!!!!
Just tried the update to a stock (but rooted) Gpad
At 3% installing, error 0x13E
After booting, a samsung-like:laugh: message:
"This device is suspected in rooting. Software update is not available for rooted device"
Fortunately this tablet is not mine... This tablet needs a "google edition" update ASAP
Maybe somebody could cook this update into a package that can be flashed by people who are on stock, but rooted?
I am on stock, rooted, but the update went fine.

4.4. KitKat for Wifi Note 10.1 2014 P600 Q&A

Hi guys I have some questions about the new Firmware and KitKat in general and you may have answers I'll try to update first post with your answers!
-Will I loose root when I flash through Odin? --> Yes
-Is the new firmware rootable, or is there a way to keep root when I upgrade from rooted 4.3?
-->For upgrade yes: If you are rooted on 4.3 you can restore root by flashing a custom recovery and flash superSU manually.
-->chainfire autoroot works but you need to update the superSU app through play store after flashing.
-Will KitKat restrict access to my SD card? -->Yes but fixable through an app or editing a file (needs root), there is already a thread about that.
-Can I still use flash with KitKat? How?
-->Yes, there is a hacked version see 2nd post for link.
-How is the touchscreen driver? Is the stuttering fixed? Do touch and hold actions still drop after ~23sec?
-->Pretty much fixed. To about the same state as the improved Kernel we had a while ago.
-Are there any apps that are not working (root apps too)?
-Gesture Controls? --> works
-Xposed framework app settings? -->works
-Is Hancom Office included or does it still work? --> not included but does still work.
Thats about what I can think of a the moment.
Hi,
If you are already rooted then all you have to do is re install TWRP and then flash SU zip then you have root.
For flash player, download hacked version here, it works I tested it on new software :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/go...e-how-to-play-flash-video-android-4-t2548001
Also, xposed works. Tested it on new software

Chainfire's Auto Root does work, once you flash it thru odin and reboot, go to the Play store and update the app.
- Please update OP
Here's a question: I'm already rooted. Is flashing the stock KitKat image via Odin and rerooting the only way to upgrade?

Not for me I flashed a stock 4.4 kit kat on my tablet coming from root 4.3. I then flashed chainfire autoroot thru odin on the 4.4 and the superuser there only problem is it displays this ' There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install this is a problem! I formatted my 4.3 before flashing it maybe thats why?

Not sure... I installed KK on the tablet via Odin, then rebooted and setup, then rebooted into download mode and flashed auto root thru Odin.
Upon reboot I got an error selecting SuperSU, but once I updated it thru the Play Store its been fine.
Using ES Explorer I removed the items I don't need and removed all of the Knox stuff.
There are a few of us this worked for so I don't know what went wrong for you.
If you don't succeed then try again, and again, and again....Good luck.

[Q] Can't restore or Install Cyanogenmod on my LG G3 D855

Hi Ladies and Gents,
So I tried to Root my phone with this solution: LG G3 (D855) - How to install CyanogenMod 12 (Android 5.0 Lollipop) User Explore Gadgets On youtube (Can't post llinks....)
Everything worked fine and the phone got Rooted.
So I was going to install Cyanogenmod 12 using this solution: How to Root the LG G3 on Android 5.0 Lollipop (All Variants) (On youtube. User Qbking77)
But when I opened the app "Quick Boot" and pushed the "Recovery Option" i didn't come into the same view as he.
So I tried to do the same via TWRP... And tried to install it. Somehow.. I did something and now when I'm trying to get into the recovery mode the phone is black, and the LED is flashing Red and Blue.
And I cant reset the phone and I cant install Cyanogenmod.
Any thoughts what I have managed to do and how I solve it?
Thanks ALOT!
Hi
You need to downgrade to Kitkat and root it and then install TWRP. There are several threads here on XDA showing how to do this. Basically you need LG Flash tool on PC and download a Kitkat Kdz. If you go to the G3 general thread on here there is a tutorial on how to do it. I think itvis the first topic on the thread.

how to root and install a good stable rom

Hi ,
I am new here , I have a lg g3 d852 ( Canadian version ) on rogers network. I am currently on the lolipop 5.0.1 and this sucks. The phone lags and the battery drains quick. I was just wondering if I could get some input on how to install a good rom which is stable , no lag and good battery . I dont want to mess up the phone. I guess i need to back up my data first , then root the phone and then install a new rom. I was thinking just to got back to kitkat 4.4 but is there a better rom right now. any suggestions would be great thanks

Yeah okay... So if you want a new ROM proceed with rooting your device, you have plenty of guides around, since you are on lollipop follow with installing benders autorec (http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/apk-flash-twrp-autorec-thanks-to-t3081396), flash TWRP with it, flash new ROM.
Or solution two without installing bedners autorec: restore to kitkat via kdz, root, flash bumped twrp for your device.
For custom ROMs I would recommend you Blisspop. UI interracition is flawless, the moment you click something, you get it, no lag.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/rom-blisspop-v2-0-ls990-t3022685
For stock based ROMs I would recommend you Cloudy. It has laggs on UI same as the stock one, but it's debloated and pretty much better then stock one in my experience.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/rom-cloudyg3-1-0-t2917467
Happy flashing and best of luck. DO backups! Always!

I suggest this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/guide-root-lg-firmwares-kitkat-lollipop-t3056951
If you failed with every root method you found here on xda what you could do is revert to older firmware via kdz, which wont be patched and you will be able to root your device.
revert to stock
hi , i dont know what the stock rom was, when i turned on my lg g3 for the first time , just started to update the android software. I was thinking to downgrade to 4.4 kitkat, but dont you have to root the phone to downgrade.
Any links to downgrade from 5.0.1 lollipop to kitkat 4.4 or 4.2. , so from there i would follow the instructions to root the phone . any suggestions would be great thanks

I want to unlock, root and flash custom rom to update my device to Android 6 and enjoy some root features I miss.
My device:
LG G3, D855 (32GB), 5.0.
Build Nubmer: LRX21R.A1447078419
Software Version: V21a-SEA-XX
I saw many ways to root, which one is the best? (using PC, not ADB stuff..)
Do I still have to reset my whole data for rooting?
Is "bootloader unlocking" thing still exists?
Important things to backup before doing anything?
1. You can use "One click root" to root your device , This is the best way
2. you don't need to reset your device
3. after you install SU download autorec from google play for D855 LP to install TWRP recovery
4. It's up to you , for me I have not , but for more safety do it.
Good luck

My device now is on android 5.X.
I want to root and flash android 6 (CM Nigthlies).
Can it done by the on clock root and autorec method?
