Problem with Link2sd, noob question! - Sony Xperia M

Hi everyone, Happy New Year
Well to give a little insight with my problem, i have a Xperia M C1904, android version 4.3, and rooted with http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-m/general/towel-root-steps-to-root-t2789990 this guide, locked bootloader. I installed Link2sd, maked a partition on my 16GB SD card, Fat32 and Ext4, initiaded Link2sd maked the script, rebooted, and all good, but the only thing is that i can't move any app to the SD only make links. I don't know what cause this, i'm very new to phone rooting and all this stuff so yeah

i'm using link2sd, and i just link the apps, not move it to sdcard

problem with link2sd
Hi, I also have a problem with this app... i tried all options partitioning, and it doesn't work for me... literally all, for first and for second partition I was reading forums, and I need to ask you - do i have to unlock my bootloader to get this thing work for me? May people say so, but i'm afried to unlocked it... I rooted my sony xperia m with towelroot. Please help

you just need to full-rooting your device, no need to ubl
rooting with towelroot is half-root, you need to fix it with remountrebootfix
search around for tutorial

I already have full-rooted my phone, install remountrebootfix, like in tutorial. I tried this 3x, but it didn't work. I get boot-loop every time. Still don't know what's the cause of this problem.

I found 3 scripts that you have to do to remove it.
1 remove /system/etc/init.d/*link2sd*
2 remove /system/etc/install-recovery.sh and if exists rename install-recovery.sh.ori in its place.
3 remove /system/xbin/debuggerd and rename debuggerd.bin in its place.
After that you can also remove link2sd log files from /data and delete directory /data/sdext2.

[Q] rooting and internal memory

Hi all,
I recently got an Xperia play and so far I love it but I am running out of internal memory (it only has 380mb available for apps etc). I'm relatively new to android so please stick with me!
I read on a forum that you can partition a section of the SD card then use an app called "Link2SD" to use that partition as additional internal memory. As part of this you have to root the phone. I tried this and the software didn't work.
My main question is regarding rooting, is it worth doing? I'd heard that if you root your phone you risk bricking it and also you can't get future software updates. If that's true then I won't get ice cream sandwich in the next update.
So, can anyone advise me on if rooting is a good thing to do and if so, how do I do it? If not, do you know of any good ways to increase the internal memory that don't need rooting? I am already using the App2SD application which helps a bit but not enough as I've already moved all I can to the SD card in normal settings.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks!
It's REALLY worth it and you'd be super unlucky to brick or cause any damage by trying to root.
Use superoneclick. Really quick and simple.
Then Link2SD works fine (it needs root to work). You can move all of your apps across stopping the annoying messages about low memory.
Then when you get a bit more brave get titanium backup, backup everything.
Then google safe removal list xperia play xda and get rid of the sony bloatware you don't use. Will be like a new phone my friend. Enjoy your Play!
Thanks mate, I'm still torn if I want to risk it! Would it be OK with future software updates if I did root? How do I use the rooting program you mentioned, download it to my PC then just execute it with the phone plugged in? Sorry for all the questions, I know nothing of the internal workings of android! Thanks
Sent from my R800i using XDA
Superoneclick is a program you run on your PC. Literally one click with your phone connected and you're rooted. There are practically no risks involved at all.
You'll still be able to update OTA if you don't uninstall any stock apps. ICS will be available for FlashTool when it's released anyway so I wouldn't worry about that
Sounds good, I've already got instructions for a program to partition the SD card and for link2sd. I'll give it a go! I'm assuming the stock apps will be the ones not on the safe list? Can I still move games that came preinstalled? Thanks for all your help, it's much appreciated!

Basically don't uninstall any app that is installed to /system/app if you want OTA
This is irrelevant anyway since ICS won't come OTA. You'll have to use FlashTool or SEUS
hi !
When you are rooted ! uninstall those crap stock app list with Titanium backup (from market),
Warning ! It need root !
link to the list of safe removal app :

See ya
do you know if there's an app to unroot my phone? I'll probably do the partition thing, remove the apps I don't need then unroot the phone again. Any ideas? Thanks

Perhaps superoneclick does unroot as well (can't remember and not near a pc. But you don't need to unroot. Keeping root does no harm. If you're thinking about warranties then it's pointless as you'll have missing apps etc when you send it away.. Again though, root does no harm and you can quickly flash a stock xperia rom (they're linked in a thread here and all listed on xperiagamer website) should you need to send the phone for repair

Link2sd needs root access to run. If you remove root you won't be able to use Link2sd anymore
ah ok, you can tell I'm new to all this stuff can't you?!
Thanks!
How come ICS won't be coming as an OTA update? I'd read that it was being released in April for the Play?
I may need to pick your brains about how to get hold of ICS when it's released then!
Is there an equivalent to super one click for macs or will I be forced to use my 2009 eepc?
Sent from my R800x using Tapatalk 2
I have uninstalled the apps, using titanium backup...but I think the data is still there cause the space has not improved...
Superoneclick will work on the .62 firmware as well right? ..
I let the phone do a software update and I thought I read somewhere that the .62 cannot be rooted.. please tell me I'm wrong..
this low internal memory is so freaking annoying
Hi all,
I think I've finally got all the info I need, just need to make the decision of which way to go now!
I found a hack that you can use to send apps to the SD card without rooting:
http://www.bongizmo.com/blog/moving-all-android-apps-to-sdcard-apps2sd-froyo/
but I'm more nervous of hacking that rooting because at least there is lots of guidance on rooting for novices like myself! What do you reckon? To root or not to root, that is the question!
I was thinking, now that my SD card will be taking the brunt of the apps data etc, is it possible to exchange the 16gb card I got with the phone for a standard 32gb micro sd to expand the capacity? I'm concerned that if I do this, links between the phone and SD card might not work anymore.
Thanks
Can anyone please confirm that superoneclick works with the xperia play, android version 2.3.4? If so, which version? I've downloaded v2[1].3.3 and I'm ready to take the plunge. Thanks

I'm afraid I'll need step by step instructions for rooting my play, I can't get it to work. I downloaded superoneclick and tried to execute it and it just closed itself. Do I need to install SDK whatever that is? I have no idea what I'm doing! Please help!

Are you running as admin?
If you can't get it to work try DoomLord's Easy Rooting Toolkit - don't have a link as I'm on my phone but it should be easy enough to find

just tried it, i just get "cannot find the path specified" on each line, I'm probably doing something fundamentally wrong! Does it need to be in media transfer mode? Here's what I did:
Downloaded the Zip file and extracted all the files into a folder.
Turned on USB debugging and unknown sources
Connected the phone via USB and skipped the prompt to open the phone folders
Executed the "run me.bat" file
Pressed any button as prompted
What am I doing wrong?

[Q] Help needed upload/update apps

Hi all,
My girlfriend has the unlocked stock Wildlife S and she loves it! But, she is having trouble updating and installing apps on the phone, it keeps on saying 'insufficient memory'. She has a 2gb sd card and doesn't have a lot of apps on the phone or sd card, she has transferred as many apps as she can to the card.
Anyone able help me?
Regards,
David
because the apps to sdcard, but the data and cache still in internal
memory.you can flash recovery, and then flash custom rom, partion your sd
card and then flash data2sd.you can change the memory to 512M or 1G.
Or, if she doesn't want to change anything (mine didn't wanted too, i know the drill...), since you are already unlocked you could just root your phone with unlock root http://www.unlockroot.com/, supertool... or something similar, install link2sd and she can transfer all apps (system too) that she wants to the second partition you created for her before all steps mentioned above... (you have nice tut here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1432459&highlight=link2sd)
if you don't want to change anything how you fix the problem?

[Q] How to root Htc Wildfire S 2.3.5 with S-ON?

Hey, I have htc wildfire s with s-on running on 2.3.5....
I want to root it to use applications that require a root..
I want to know is it possible to increase internal memory or use sd card partition to utilise as an internal mamory? If yes, then how to do it?
and I want a simple root... means no upgrading for 4.0 ICS is required for me.
I am a new to rooting.. so please explain me in simple way..
I dont understand the bootloader and clockmode recovery like words..
Please help me..
To be honest, if you don't understand the bootloader etc you may be better off leaving the phone alone, as you need to modify it to achieve rooting of the device.
This section is full of well written tutorials that are easy to follow.
Just use search function for how to root your wildfire s.
Look at the link below, it has a bit of advise and some links to look at.

Thanks for reply... but can i do the partition? and can i install all applications if I partitioned sd card of 1 gb for Internal Memory..??
Simple answer is no, there are a few apps that will move apps to the SD card (some apps cannot be moved though)
This is one reason why people root the device....to free up memory and remove unwanted service provider apps etc.
It is a fairly simple process, take the plunge and root the device.

hey... first try to search for the post.... this question hase been asked a lot of times... and post in correct section.....
BTW... you can root your device easily... it is just simple... and you can increase your internal memory by creating a ext partition in your memory card (data2sd)..
1. To unlock your Bootloader http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1432199
2. To Root your Device http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1195275
Then if you love the stock rom... there is lot of Custom Sense Rom available... You can choose one of them... I prefer the following three...
Wildchild v2.0http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1652973AlaaDragonfire_Rom v2.0http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1773156HenseMod 7http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1434497
3. Then to increase internal memory first create a EXT2 partition on your memory card http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1432459 Follow the first 20 Steps... then use the Data2SD Zip to flash from recovery.... See the attachment..

[Q] Root without ROM Upgrade?

Another Sony noob here. Last four phones have all been HTC but the Z1C forced me to jump ship!
All the guides I've looked at include the flashing of a different ROM. Is it possible to get root and recovery with locked bootloader but leaving the existing ROM intact?
Thanks guys!!
NO! How many "I've read all these other guides" threads do we need asking the same question to be told the same answer. If it was possible there would be a guide.

Try rooting with Kingroot 4.8.0 (this worked for me)
Then use Replace Kinguser with SuperSu scripts and method (this worked for me).
I then installed XZDual Recovery downloaded from here with no problem (look for the file that reads "Z1C-lockeddualrecovery...)!
That's how I gained root with SuperSU and with Dual Recovery. Then you can flash a ROM for Locked Bootloader without the need to backup your TA and without erasing internal storage so your photos and videos (at least) will remain intact.
P.S. Do this at your own risk. I am not responsible if you mess up with your phone.

If you're on factory stock kk, method described above works great. Takes about 2 minutes and you're done. One thing to note is that Kingroot app will show 'root unavailable' message at first. Just ignore it and click root. I just did it myself. Only thing is that I did take the updates in the popup notifications, but only up to kk firmware .108. Don't take any update after that, or you will be on lp, and rooting is a whole different story.

Suspicious activity

After resisting the temptation of having custom ROM on my Xperia SS c1904 since couple of years. I couldn't anymore and tried to flash cm13 yesterday.
The device was stuck in bootloop and after nearly 20 hours of continuous effort to recover the device, I was able to get it back working. FREE ADVICE : Don't play with roms on your main device.
Thanks for all the persons for sharing the ideas content. Just a small advice : please use standard websites for uploading the files. Many of the files are broken links.
Finally, I had my bootloader unlocked (shame on Sony for their worst instructions which caused nightmare). I've trying cm13, I realised that it was really not for me.
Now after flashing latest stock firmware, I was confused to root as I didn't find any threads which was for rooting an unlocked Bootloader device. I've used towel root before but I was afraid to install cwm recovery and other stuff which might brick my phone.
So, I had no choice but kingroot.. it went smoothly without any reboot and viola.. I was happy.
Then I've continued to restore all the backups I've made using titanium one by one. BUT ALL OF SUDDEN, ALL MY DATA ON SD CARD WAS LOST.
I SUSPECT KINGROOT for the issue. can anyone confirm if I'm I just worried or my data has indeed stolen? Is there any way I can check what caused the data lost? The SD card is working fine. I'm glad I've all the backups on PC. But I'm just worried that all my data is in hands of ....... U know.
Let me know your valuable feedback please. Thanks in advance.
EDIT : I have found the lost data in "lost.dir" today. so, little relief from kingroot

KingRoot is actually half-adware, since it comes with Purify and if you uninstall it, it will come back. That's why I never use KingRoot after unlocking the bootloader and try out the SuperSU way.

2. I have also disabled few access rights which were enabled for kinguser app.
3. Also, found lost files in lost.dir today..
so., I'm little relieved now as the issue could be due to some other android setting.
