Noob...
Thanks to the advice I gathered from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1960784
I was able to easily root my Note 2 with no issues. I immediately installed Titanium backup and froze a slew of bloatware. So far no problems. The fact my warranty is up on the phone, and I wanted to remove bloat, were my two start out reasons to root. I want to stop here for a bit though until I completely understand all the options available to me with a freshly rooted Note 2.
Besides freezing bloat, I also backed up all user apps and system data using Titanium backup. So I'm trying to visualize a recovery scenario. On my windows based desktop PC, I'm a heavy user of imaging software. I enjoy this because I can take risks with my system, and do software testing with a good safety net.
So with that said, here's a noob question that I apologize in advance for. Say I do a factory data/reset on my Note 2. Afterward, would I just restore my backup from TB and be right back where I was before? I know I'd have to re install TB first.
I'd like to test some custom roms but I want to better understand the recover process in case things go south.
Thanks!

Wow, now that I've done a days worth of research, that really was a noob question....sorry. I got TWRP custom recovery installed and my phone backed up. I even saved the TWRP folder to my storage drive on my PC for extra security.

Well, I successfully installed my first custom ROM but I didn't like it. So I used my original TWRP backup and recovered flawlessly. This is going to be fun.

root ouya - latest firmware (november 2014)
Hello all,
I previously used the "RootMyOuya1.1.apk" file to root my ouya.
However, after the last stock firmware upgrade, it won't work anymore. Is there another option to root my ouya??
Thanks!

App not installed?
I keep getting the message "app not installed" when trying this on my OUYA. Any ideas?
I'd sure love to root my Ouya (again)
I had my Ouya rooted (using this method) for months. I'd finally decided to take the plunge and remove the OUYA Launcher altogether and install CM. After hours of having difficulties connecting ADB to my Ouya, I thought 'it won't hurt to restore the Ouya to stock settings' but oh how wrong I was.
I seem to have lost root, the Rooting APK wont even install (?) and I'm stuck with this $100 box that just teases me from across the room.
Is there any chance that the App will be updated soon? Is there any incentive that I could provide to aid a developer? Money maybe?
I don't want to be a demanding jerk, but rather an investigative polite person. I will not harass beyond this message, but I do have my fingers crossed that I can one day use my OUYA like I want to, again.
Thanks

Attempting to flash SGH-T999L back to full stock
So I found this thread by DocHoliday77 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2308514) and attempted to flash my phone back to stock following his directions and using CWM. I installed the zips and got back to the stock recovery and rebooted the phone. It is now stuck on the splash screen. I have not attempted to power it off as I don't want to ruin my phone. Any advice on this matter would be helpful.
Also I am attempting to get back to full stock so that I can essentially do an upgrade to another phone. This was a standard SGH-T999 but they rolled out the update to LTE and I did it so I have been running on the LTE towers.
Bloatware
How can I get rid of Bloatware? There's so much crap on my new T999-L that i don't want or need. I rooted it using this one-click root method from wonderhowto so I'm not running any custom ROM, just stock. I went through Root Explorer to try to find where all the bloatware is hiding and didn't notice any of the apk's. This is the second time I am rooting a device myself. The first time I tried was over a year ago and I soft-bricked my Galaxy S Relay and it took me a long time to get it back to original stock where I kept it until it's demise due to a bootloop.

EMSpilot,
I am having an issue with connecting phone to PC. When I connect the phone, I get a "connected as a media device" notification but on my PC I just get a "CD Drive" that mounts. But unlike the default Verizon one, this one doesn't do anything. If I open the CD Drive in Windows I get a "Please insert a disc into drive" message. I tried flashing your Remove-CD-Installer+ASEC-Mod.zip (even though it is supposed to be integrated in this ROM right?) and that didn't change anything. Every time I have to select the "connected as a media device" notification and select MTP to get my phone to show up correctly in Windows. This worked perfectly when I was on Stock Rom + Remove-CD-Installer+ASEC-Mod.zip but now that I am using this ROM, things aren't good. Do you have any idea what is going on?
Root and ROM
Is there a root method and ROM that lets me keep VisualVoiceMail? I know most don't like it but I have some VMs that I have kept for years that I want to keep so I want to root but keep VVM.
Thanks in advance!!
Complete Noob on Rooting and ROMS - Load Via TWRP?
When EMSpilot says load the ROM via TWRP does he mean using Odin to do so? I rooted using Odin so I know how to use that but not sure how to flash using TWRP. Can you direct me to a thread or give me some direction?

Excellent Resource!
Starting here I've been able to get a fully functional rooted kitkat vk810 that I can customize how I want. Great job!
PS - still not happy that I have Lollipop on my 2012 Kindle Fire HD 7, but can't get it on the G Pad.

When they ask for internet connection or say they can't access the server, just ignore it. Trust me. Just drag any dialogs out of view and don't pay any attention to them. I just have someone else the same advise. The program still works while it's complaining.
