Which case for best protection? - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Accessories

Hi all,
I want to get a tough case, but the otterbox defender is quite expensive for a case.
I got my sister the note pro 12.2 with I-blason case which is a great case bit they don't do one for note 10.1 only the tab pro 10.1 which I believe should fit the note 10.1 2014 but does not have the slot for the pen.
Could anyone recommend any good cases? Or does anyone really recommend the otterbox as the one to go for?
Thanks

The OtterBox cases for the Note 2014 are more than half off on Amazon right now. If you're looking for the best protection, there's no reason not to get one.

Agreed. I just got one for my tablet and I love it. Otterbox cases have served me well on several phone (preventing damage when I'm not as careful as I should). This one was is a no brainer if you are looking for great protection, and you can't beat the price on Amazon considering they were between $80 and $90 when they came out.

Thanks mate ordered one, even though I based in the UK amazon Will deliver I the UK and works out to be around £32 inc delivery and tax.
Perfect thanks

Agreed, but outerbox cannot use in portrait angle

[Q] Thinnest Case?

I was searching around for a case, using this thread (which is amazingly helpful, by the way) and I am still undecided.
I was looking for something that would add minimal bulk to the device, considering that its thinness and lightness were key reasons I purchased a Galaxy Tab.
I was very interested in the Anymode cases - particularly the Slim case - after someone mentioned them on this forum. This case appears to be exactly what I'm looking for, but it has to be imported from Korea.
I am interested in folio cases mainly because they significantly reduce the need for a screen protector. Among these, the rooCase Ultra Slim and the Acase Slim Folio seem quite thin. Does anyone with experience know for sure which one is thinner?
Also, has anyone found some other super-slim cases for their Tabs?
I picked up my Galaxy Tab 10.1 with LTE from Verizon the other day and they had this case available for purchase:

I was very happy with it. I think it is just a Samsung brand case. It is very light and has a nice feel to it.

I have already looked at this case, however I feel that it is a little overpriced - not to mention the design flaws that have been mentioned by some posters. Thanks for the input though.

Design flaws or no, that case is awesome. I have had it for a month now, and after using the Belkin folio case, the samsung one is ten times better, and thinner. Also if you use the code SUMMER2011 on the samsung website you will get 15% off your order. Not a bad deal. I wouldnt knock it until you try it first hand.

The more I look at it, the better this case seems. It's still a little bit pricey, but it seems to be worth it.
Do you know of any worthy alternatives to this case?
after trying this:
rooCASE Slim-Fit
and
Samsung Galaxy Tablet Pouch
i went with the pouch.
the roocase was nice and slim but did take away from the wow!-it's-light-and-thin factor. i feel any of the cases that stay on the sgt will do that.
one of the main reasons i went with the sgt, like you, was for it's size and weight. every ipad2 owner (almost everyone in my family!) who has played with my sgt has mentioned how thin and light it is, prefaced with "wow!". i love using it naked!
i also have squaretrade insurance just in case i drop it. not saying the roocase or similar would protect it from drops.

I picked this case up at hhgregg for $49+tax and it's quite nice, though a bit overpriced since it probably only costs a couple of bucks to produce.

Yes, I have also looked into this option. It is an attractive alternative to the folio case, for sure.
The Samsung book case will probably be the thinnest option you'll find other than getting an invisible shield on the front and the back and then forgetting about a case completely. I have the book case and although it's got some functional challenges and it's over-priced, the build quality is superb and it actually adds to the aesthetic appeal of the Tab.
I got the roocase and this keeps the tablet pretty thin and light i love that case and i think it's a good buy for whoever wants to buy a thin slim case
Anyone here got the Samsung Book Cover case with the camera hole closer to the locking flap rather than the folding edge? I hate it how my device is upside down when in the 'typing' angle.
I have heard that the only way to overcome this issue is to put the Tab in the case upside down so that it would be right side up in the typing mode.
However, this would completely do away with the camera and headphone jack functionality and is therefore not a real solution.

Retail Case for 10.1 Tab

Does anyone know where to get a good case for the 10.1 at a store? Tried ordering something online, and that didn't pan out and now I got 3 days to get a case before my trip.
Anyone have any experience with a case from target/bestbuy/walmart whatever that works and doesn't cost an arm and a leg?
Targus Truss
There is a case at Best Buy, I wanna say it is 40 USD but well worth it. It closes with an elastic banf that doubles as and hand strap. It also has three landscape viewing angles that work great for video. It is my first and only case though, but quite nice and stylish!
Belkin not a good buy
I bought the "better" of the two Belkin cases at Target...
It's nice but doesn't fit right... the Tab slides out a bit and makes touching the power and volume buttons difficult.

Vipertek case from Amazon.com is 5stars. Best case ever. I like it better than the Samsung Official Book Case. Plus it doesn't cost over $30 and fast shipping.
Found a Belkin case at BestBuy that was pretty nice, but didn't want to buy it for $49. Turns out Target sells the exact same Belkin case for $29. SOLD!
Went into a Verizon store and grabbed the book case one. I love it!
Try this case which comes with Bluetooth keyboard.

Recommendation for a belt leather case?

Hi all,
I just got a Samsung S2 T989 and I love it. Any recommendation for a good leather case for carrying it on my belt?
I got this from Amazon for my Samsung galaxy player 4.0 but it did not last for more than a couple of weeks
(the belt loops broken, stitches came off etc...):
http://www.amazon.com/Premium-Leath...95&sr=1-5&keywords=leather+case+for+galaxy+s2
So I'd appreciate if you could recommend a good one. Thank you very much
well on the internet I think most cases are overpriced except of course the one you posted. I bought mine at a local chinese mall for $10 and it is pretty good quality. I would recommend you do something similar.
Try a PDAir:

I've got the black one I found on ebay for a few dollars less. Best I've found. Nice strong steel clip. Can be used with a Ditzonic or D30 case. Had it since Feb 12 and holding up extremely well. Very satisfied with it.
A little pricey, but worth the money imo.

Looking for case

Hey guys, a friend of mine just got his nexus 5 and he's looking for a case that will fit well with generic glass screen protector, something at about 15-20 dollars from eBay. Thank you and merry Christmas for those who celebrate.
$10 Ringke Hybrid case has been serving me well. Shows off the back of the phone and won't interfere with any SP.

Google Nexus 5 cases
As its quite long since the launch of N5 and after going through so many cases I would suggest you this shellster beltclip/kickstand case for your Nexus 5...as personally I own this case and m really impressed with the quality and comfort of this case...it allows you to have a very fine grip on the phone...and make your phone safe too...

Here ya go, I'll pimp my own thread hahah. I did a few reviews for ridiculously cheap/good deal ebay cases (all have a bunch of pictures). This is if you're into hardcases anyway. If you want softer cases (TPU/Rubber/Gel) meant for drop protection then these ones probably aren't up your alley. They will all work with screen protectors though.
Out of all of them, I recommend the Quicksand cases!!. They've sold so well though that the price has since increased to $1.99 with free shipping.

Heads-up, Otterbox defender.. $47+tax

I wanted to give everyone a heads-up.. Just scored an Otterbox Defender for my Note 10.1 (2014) just over $51 otd
Walmart.com search for item 77-40507 priced at $47.17 (can't post outside link yet)
Several of my local stores (south Alabama) currently have a rack full in stock, maybe your local store does as well...
Make sure to buy online and deliver to store, as they are $89+ on the shelf and Walmart doesn't pricematch Walmart.com.
Awesome case, a bit heavy, but top-notch construction.

thanks. Looks pretty nice, but i'm more of a slim case fan. Also, fyi, this case does block the SD slot.

I am fond of slim cases as well, but I carry my Note with me daily at work so the extra protection is a decent trade-off, not to mention having something to 'grip'. I don't swap out SD cards, so the slot being covered is not an issue for me. When I need to move a bunch of files, I just plug into my desktop or use and OTG cable with a flash drive.
After a couple days of use, I can say that the Otterbox is exactly what I hoped it would be and am very happy with my purchase. I would not be a buyer at $90 because I can't justify paying 25% of the cost of my refurb tablet, but at $50.. I was all over it.
I was using a Roocase dual view leather case, and it is very nice for a book cover/stand style case, not exactly light, but sturdy and protective. I bought it as my second choice until the Otterbox became available.
Thanks for the heads-up on the SD slot, I know there are folks out there that swap cards.
NOTE: My one concern before I purchases was the built-in screen protector... Totally not an issue, you hardly know it is there, and the screen is still bright, beautiful, and sensitive. Writing feels different... the bare screen is very slick feeling, the Otterbox screen has much more friction.. I read somewhere that someone said it will eventually smooth out and settle somewhere in between, and that would be perfect.
Great find.
Thanks. I got the case and I love it.
ummm the walmart site says this case is, "for Samsung Galaxy Tab PRO 10.1" ... that is not the 2014 Edition.
y'all are saying it fits the 2014 Edition perfect though huh?
Rest assured
I got mine few days ago and it is perfect fit for note 10.1 2014 ed.
All ports line up correctly and also has s-pen slot.
It will work with tampered glasses but I took the built in screen protector from the case off as I didn't like the rainbow effect it created.
I hope it helped.

Was it difficult to remove the built in protector? I would also rather use tempered glass.

Not at all.
Just press it firmly at the corner in ward and it will start come apart.
I did, however, use bit of rubbing alcohol to make sure all adhesive are completely removed (just my OCD kicking in lol) to make sure there aren't any residue sticking to the glass.
I checked after a week of use and there weren't any residues
Cheers!

I can also confirm that this case works beautifully. I liked tempered glass so I did remove the original screen protector. Very easy to do. Used Goo-Gone to remove remaining adhesive.
The price at Walmart is down to $39.99. Now the package sticker in the front does say "Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro(10.1) AND Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition". It is fully compatible. Love the protection!!!! :victory:
Is it still easy to use?
Too bad they didn't make a commuter case for the Note 10.1 2014... This Defender seems a tad large. I feel like the wife is not going to like it...
It really isn't that bad, just adds weight

Haha you're right! I got it and we both love it actually. Not afraid to "use" the tablet in it.
Amazon is currently showing the black one at $32.50, and a couple of the other colors are less than $17.00.

Just purchased the grey/white model for $20.59, including next day shipping. Description does not state it is for the 2014 version, but several reviews indicate it is. Sweet!
Picked up a Grey and White Defender for $17 on Amazon. I just installed it, it's super bulky but the quality is amazing and the multi use stand is great.
Are the ones from Amazon authentic?

Of so I went from damn I got a good deal to damn it I got ripped off lol
The quality is certainly comparable to other Otterbox cases I have purchased. Looking through the other colors for this case, which were priced higher, I got the impression that grey/white may not be popular and is being phased out. Even if it is a fake Otterbox, which I don't believe it is, the case is still a bargain for $17.

The Grey and White one I received was authentic otterbox. My Note 10.1 is white so it looks great together.
I just ordered one online from Walmart for $39.01 (Amazon also has the same price).
How is this case?
