Hard Bricked G3 - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I was trying to flash a stock rom on my LG G3, but the flash blocked at 5%, so i rebooted the phone, and now I haven't the possibility to acces at the download mode or recovery mode.
and when I try to go in download mode, my computer show my G3 at QHSUSB_BULK.
Any help here? please.
Thanks you guy's.

Try LG boot repair tool I think its name was something like this...you can find it on there web page.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/sitesearch.php?q=QHSUSB BULK

I already made a search hack14u, and I found only soft for G2 or Samsung phone.
I don't find LG boot repair tool too.
I think there is no solution
edit : I can access to the Factory Reset screen, if I say no or yes, I come back to "Secure booting error ! cause : boot certification verify " with the LG logo.

Shut device down completely(Remove battery if you can't do it with button). Then press and hold Volume up and plug usb cable while connected to computer, that's how you enter download mode, did you do that and it didn't work?

Yes it didn't work, computer recognize it as Qhsusb_bulk.

LG PC Suite has an option somewhere in the menus to reflash-restore firmware, there should be something like Repair recovery or something like that, don't have the program right in front of me sorry Make sure you have installed drivers from previous post that I linked you, make sure that it's recognised in windows device manager. If this still doesn't solve your problem then the repair is much more complicated / difficult, needs jtag **** = getting stuff from it's motherboard etc, there are some guys that do that all over the world but it would be better if you send it to your provider or from where you get it for a repair service/ replacement ( if you still have warranty ).

Tomorrow I will try to find this option in LG PC Suite. If I need JTAG, it's better to send to LG for repair, yes luckily I have the warranty.
Hope he don't make me pay for that. I gonna say a official upgrade goes wrong or something like that.
Thanks for your response !
Happy new year
Edit : I tried the option in LG PC suite, and the sfot doesn't find my G3. So Tommorow I gonna send my phone at LG.
Thank's for your help

[Q] Secure Booting Error! Cause: boot certification verify

Hello all,
Well, it's here... Unfortunately my phone got bricked last night
Can't boot into main screen and can't go to download mode anymore. The cause is, my phone was stuck when upgrading firmware and there's nothing to do about it except remove the battery, and then, BOOM!... "Secure Booting Error! Cause: boot certification verify"
Any LG G3 users here already experienced this problem?
I followed the solution on LG G2 sub-forum, but my ubuntu doesn't detect the port, although Windows recognized it.
If this happens to your G3 and you solved it, please share your experience
Thanks

Not at all.
Finally, I claimed my warranty with LG, and the motherboard got replaced.
It's all working now
You could have unbricked it... I've done that twice already
im stuck in this, how?
I'm stuck at the same thing since yesterday.
could you tell us the solution @nofait?
I've been researching about this and noticed one thing,
if I hold the lg combo (vol up + usb cable), and keep holding it until it passes the secure boot error and the screen becomes black,
my device (d855) goes to the Qualcomm Download Mode (it's detected as ''Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008'' on windows 8.1 x64)
Apparently, on that mode we could use Qualcomm tools (QPST) to reflash the bootloader and the matching laf image (the one that brings up the download mode)
so we could then flash any KDZ using LG Flash Tool.
To do so we need to extract the bootloader files, sbl1.bin, aboot.bin, rpm.bin, tz.bin, boot.bin, and laf.bin, from a tot/kdz firmware converting them to mbn format.
Then using QPST eMMC Download Tool, we load the partition table xml and 2 image files: the flash programmer file and the qcom boot image, which I'm still trying to figure out where to get them since I can't dump my own phone, and then we might be able to recover it.
I'm still looking into it and hopefully we can find a way.
I did not send my phone to lg service, yet, because I think they will take too long to fix it.
It happened to me a few days ago, but i had TWRP fully working so i could simply flash a ROM and then recover my things.
That thing about windows recognizing it as a msm8474 was a drivers issue (al least for me), i have a S5 too, i think that when i was tryng to get Heimdall working it changed the drivers (as you may know, s5 and g3 have the same board), so i just simply uninstalled it and then reinstall everything using .exe files from LG's website, after that windows 8.1 recognize it perfectly and i could flash KDZ without problems.
Other experience i had and that may help is what happened to me using an LGOG, couldn't boot, no recovery, no nothing, just trying to turn it on, it managed to get in fastboot mode (but with screen off and red LED all the time),from that point it was just about typing commands and flashing img to get it working

Hi,
You'll need to use a Windows 7 machine and the proper LG USB Driver (first post of this message) and change it to the COM41.
Do a BOARD DL and when the screen comes up and tells you to not touch it, ignore and press OK. Then press the power button and at the same type touch the "Normal +power". It should reboot and everything should be fine
Cheers!

So,
Should I use windows 7 32 bit or is it fine with 64 bit?
Will I need a .TOT file and a DLL for my model ( D855P 16gb ) or can I use a KDZ file?
EDIT: ok so I tried it, but flash tool failed to get model information from the phone.
were you in download mode? I can't get to download mode here.

nothing just black screen no led either but the computer recognizes the phone on devices settings it shows LGE androidnet usb serial port.
i tried every guide here on xda to unbrick and a few on other sites and noghting
the only thing i did not try yet is a tool called lg smart boot diagnosis tool that theres nowhere to download only an xda member seems to have this tool but im waiting to see if he can share the tool or no
I dont have much experience with lg yet but if there is a flashing tool for it since u can still get the computer to read you just the tool and stock rom reflash and startover
i tried that already the problem i got now is the phone cannot get to be on download mode lg flash tool gets me an error that can't change to dlmode. it seems im running out of options maybe i should send my phone to lg for repair but i rather not i would like to try a little more before doing that

To put it simply if you cannot get to download mode, at this time you are sol. Maybe in the future if we get the qualcomm files you could fix it if your pc recognizes in one way or another it is connected under ports. But right now as we stand we do not have the files to recover from your type of brick.
thanks for you reply it seems that im gonna have to send it to lg for repair i bought it second hand so t-mobile will not help me with this.
Can you get adb to recognize it? You might be able to extract the laf.img and use adb to flash it back to your phone. Then you'll have download mode back.
no adb either i tried that. i try all kdz methods, flash tool with tot file and modded dll it gets stuck on can"t change to download mode. thanks for asking
the only method i did no try yet is the lg smart boot diagnosis tool that a xda member has but dont wants to share the tool

This is true but two problems exist:
1) Correct me if this is wrong, if you brick your phone and don't automatically boot into fastboot mode there is no way to do it. You need to flash the full fledged laf.img so it is booted when you do the vol + plug in instead of booting to lg boot loader.
2) Even if his computer can recognize the phone what he has done probably makes it boot into QHSUSB mode and at this time we have no solution to fix it.
I have read somewhere on the g2 forum of fixing one of the types of QHSUSB bricks (they come in a couple of flavors) but I can't remember which one. I do remember he needed to flash the full fledged fastboot laf somehow then flash the aboot partition via fastboot. So if I was you I would do some digging in the g2 forums.
thanks everyone for trying to help.well i just send my phone back to lg for repair i will inform everyoneif lg repair my g3 or not thanks again
I am also facing this problem it's completely bricked when I connect device to computer it shows LGE ANDROIDNET SERIAL please help to solve this problem

What does it say when you plug it into the computer?
QHUSB_BULK?
I guess the better option is to try using LG flash tool to flash kdz, not sure if download mode will be booted since you mentioned download mode failed.
If none really work then should consider restoring stock rom using LG pc suite
Am I correct in saying the phone simply does not boot into download mode? You have have the phone off, hold + or - and plug USB in?

asking for help
Hello!
I would like to ask you, that can you maybe help me with my LG G3 (D855) (16GB). I live in Europa, Hungary
I bought the device as used, and i would have liked to download the latest software via wifi, then on the phone restarted, and was only the TWRP on the phone, i restarted the device again, but i could entry only in the TWRP. I downloaded a ROM from the XDA, and i made a mistake, i installed the D851 software. The phone is bricked, no download mode. I tryed to unbrick, but every method need the download mode. If i put the device on the PC, the PC see only as modem. LGE AnroidNet USB modem, and the the port name LGE AnroidNet USB Serial Port Com4. If the battery is low, i see on the display, that show that need to charge, but nothing more life signal. If you can help me with some information and with files or via teamviewer, i will glad for you, and also donate. i think i have the correct TOT file, and the DLL file.
LGD855AT-00-V10k-234-30-VUK-SEP-03-2014-16G+0.tot
LGD855_20140526_LGFLASHv160.dll
I downloaded a program "BoardDiag3.99c.zip". but this program ask the BIN file, i found another program b2b.exe, that ask the TOT file at the extraction. Maybe that's is same?
As i wrote the PC sees my phone only as modem, and LGE AnroidNet USB Serial Port Com4. I dont know what is "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 mode", i dont see in the port menu. I hope that You, or someone can help me. i downloaded the QDLoader HS-USB Driver, but again show only the "LGE AnroidNet USB Serial Port Com4" (or now this is com41, i wanted to try a method, but need the download mode) Sorry for the bad english.
Have a nice day!

I didn't had the same issue as you, but had a similiar one (phone didn't get discovered neither by LGUP nor LG Flash Tool). Yesterday I fixed it by following this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785089
In particular the part where you change your device to COM41 in the device manager.
After you get it discovered by LG Flash Tool flash an official KDZ.
Reboot the phone and connect it to your Windows, allow the connection from the phone screen.
It should promt you to install drivers on the computer, do that (they are different from LG Drivers you download from the web mind you)
Now you can change your COM port back to 3 and everything should be fully discoverable by both LGUP and LG Flash Tool.
I think I replied to you on reddit (same photo) Have you tried plugging the phone in while in download mode ? Did you try installing drivers from the internet ? Coz thats how I fixed the same problem you have.

Exactly, here I am running around in circles over this BOOST Stylo 2, just got it with MM 6.0.1 out of the box 2 days ago. I caught the 454.4mb update it has been trying to do! Got that baby downloaded! 1.02gb unzipped and renamed to kdz. Got a script for Terminal that will replace Kingroot's temp root with SuperSU but I am not going to attempt any further until I know LGUP will recognize and flash my .zip the bas****s deem not worth enough to put up for download on LG's site!
I got LGUP to recognize it in download mode, reads out LGLS775 but still says it cannot open it...............
His info on how he got it to work would prolly have solved this dillema..............
oh well

ok had a LG G3 that's done this- as long as you can get download mode it should recover, YOU need to use the LG mobile support tool from LG website ( LG UP sees phone as unknown model ) run LG mobile Support tool and in option choose UPGRADE RECOVERY . follow instructions and allow to start process, it took 57 minutes to repair my phone - it will seem frozen anywhere from 0% to about 22% JUST WAIT IT OUT!! lg up / twrp flashes in 5 to 10 mins -- the LG m.s.t writes block by block and takes 1 hour +
so hints and info took 3 goes to find and start upgrade recovery - error on a couple of attempts. phone seems frozen around 10% and 15% of firmware upload -- go make a coffee drink it, go pee then come back and worry! A watched pot never boils!....

I figured out how to get my PC to recognize my D851. Apparently all the LG software didn't like how many COM ports I have. As soon as I unplugged everything else from my PC, the software worked. In this case, it was LG Flash Tool 2014, but I couldn't get any of them to work before.
Try running LGUP as Admin!!! For me it worked!

Hope someone can help me. I flashed a rom for a d855, d855g30 I think, and although I can access download mode all aps for flashing fail saying it's the wrong model number. Even the generic DLL file cant trick it. It still starts booting the rom but boot loops before entering. I no longer have twrp and when I try to do safe mode or factory reset I get a boot validation error or something similar. Just seem to be stuck. Im using a VS985.
One cause of LGUP "UNKNOWN"
While an old thread, it'll be found in searches. For anybody who gets "UNKNOWN" device with LGUP for the LG G3, I found that LGUP for the G3 is often distributed with the wrong DLL file. See the details here, post #11. After installing LGUP, make sure that the "model" subdirectory in the LGUP program directory is the same number as the processor in your phone, in my case c:\Program Files (x86)\LG Electronics\LGUP\model\8974 (was 8994 with the "LGUP for G3" I downloaded).

i meant LGE mobile usb serial port (com7) and in portable devices its says LGE android MTP device and its has a yellow trangle
so does anything show up when you turn it on? how far does it get in booting? it goes to DL mode everytime? and that's what is in device manager in DL mode?

it boots into dl mode but i cant flash firmware yesterday i recorded it. it boots to lg logo and after 29 seconds it boot to the android guy i did find something in yellow text but it flickers and that says. in short
E: failed to mount /cache (no such file or directory) then can't mount /cache/recovery/log
can't open /cache/recovery/log
and it repeats that text 3 times from what i saw
did you install twrp? i would check your drivers or the cable for the communication failure in dl mode

My goal is to try and install TWRP my phone fully stock I checked everything even my charging port. I'm using the lg cable... My main goals are to get this fixed before March 3 and all I need is an alternative. Get TWRP or return back to stock
at least give me a script to boot to stock android recovery without adb. cause obviously i cant use adb and i hope anybody reading this can remember that with lg flash tool 2014 kdz method it goes to 4 and stops unless you guys find fix to that. all i need is to get this thing fixed before march 3rd. so if you guys help me find any kind of fix this is all i need
here is info but my phone
model: lg-d852 (don't really need it though)
status: stock unrooted device and has never booted into the system
android version: 4.4.2 kitkat
main problem that needs to be fixed: it cant mount cache cause apparently there is no file or directory according to my phone
that's it. if you guys need anymore info about my phone let me know (except imei or serial number cause that's all private stuff) thanks

use the tot method. never seen it not work assuming youre in download mode and have working drivers/cable

I used every method
then you must force it into the 9008 mode using the following guide. I would check the dll you are using, drivers, or cable first through. I would be EXTREMELY SUPRISED of a g3 in DL mode that is non-responsive.

i'm surprised that my lg g3 in download mode with the correct dll, tot, kdz. every single program with a fully working charging port and an lg cable is that unresponsive. although at one point the arrows in download mode started spinning an then it stopped and on the monitor it said on lg flash tool (tot method). CAUTION: Primary gpt has invalid value there must be something blocking the connection
oh and my phone is still getting fixed soooooooooo no updates just yet. but like i said if there are no results i'll update you
