So ive searched google and on here and i have not found either an xposed module or framework modification to alter the spark icon. I just hate how my status bar is half way taken up by all of my active things. Id like a simple LTE notification.
Also is there an xposed module where I can alter icons individually? Ive been using xStana and Wanam, but the xStana seems to only let you choose preloaded themes and its all or nothing - where Wanam lets me make simple changes like hide certain things (unfortunately not the AM/PM for the clock) and change the typeface and color but thats about it.
Any insight would be appreciated. im rather new to Xposed and all it can do.

Isn't there a build.prop edit to change the carrier to fix this?

CREDIT TO @dc/dc!!!
For those like me that hate our stupid American network indicators, build.prop can be edited to show the international (and I would argue, most accurate) icons. I do not intend to create a flashable ZIP or anything like that as the manual method is actually quicker and easier.
These instructions assume you're rooted and have made a backup of your original file.
1. Open Root Explorer
2. Navigate to /system/
3. Hold on build.prop and select "Open in Text Editor"
4. Select Yes to open as RW
5. Modify the two lines shown below (replace "tmo" with "can"):
6. Save and exit
7. Reboot
Icons will now appear as below:
In case you're interested, here is the correlation to normal American icons:
1. 4G = LTE, usually shown as some silly little icon that says 4GLTE
2. H and H+ = HSPA (3.5G) and HSPA+ (3.75G) this is also known as 4G in America, but it is not 4G per the ITU
3. E = EDGE (2.5G or 2.75G depending on class)
If there were a standard UMTS network near me, I'd imagine that there would also be a 3G icon, but all of T-Mobile's UMTS network is overlaid with at least HSPA. Also, unlike the change to the Sprint icons, this change does not introduce any weird CDMA menus in mobile network settings.

@charlieb620
If you change the last 3 to att, spr, vzw you will also get the icons.
@siraltus
A more elegant (LTE is actually LTE) solution is to add the following line to /system/csc/features.xml instead:
OYC
This gives you standard LTE/H+/H/E/G icons so you don't have to guess what's what.
EDIT: Changed OYA to OYC which gives you LTE/H+/H/E/G icons.

Thanks, but by changing the device name, wouldn't this limit some of the apps available in the play store? Or maybe cause issues when downloading roms through apps like goo manager?

I tried it and it did work. The only problem is when on 4g, the up and down indicators fall ontop of the 4g icon.
Yeah, a build.prop edit will fix it much like how I got the spark icon on my Note 3 by changing the model to the Sprint Galaxy S5 model.

Very niche problem
I would suggest just leaving it alone. But if you really must, you could modify a theme for your rom and remove the 4G icon from the notification / status bar. Or try the glitchy but usable lockscreen / status bar mod: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1276553
As far as removing it from your settings all together, that would require decompiling your settings.apk and then removing the code (probably XML) containing the 4G part. Then recompile the apk and push back to system. It seems simple enough, just make a backup just in case. A great tool to use for this is: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1577025&highlight=autoapk

The S5 Toolbox addon doesn't work properly. After you add more then 5 apps the toolbox only shows 5 and the top of another one but you are not able to scroll to access it or any of the other apps you've added so app is unusable.
Floating Toolbox Pro: Everything works except changing the Floating Toolbox icon color.
Tip: Swipe sideways for more options including the settings lol
all of the mentioned above are working, you have to scroll to last page inside of the app to go to settings page. Please quote me back so i can be able to comment back

Thanks for quick reply k0sh. Everything works on my Tab S 10.5 except for changing the Floating Toolbar icon color. No matter what color I set it to it never takes. Changing the background color works fine though.
I have a couple of requests if you decide to continue to refine the app:
-Allow user to set the Floating Toolbox icon even smaller then it is now. I have it all the way down and I still find it big on the tablet in comparison the the OEM Toolbox.
-Allow user to change icon transparency as I find it too bright
-Allow alternate icon or little round button like OEM.
The app is already a winner but those changes above would seal the deal for me.
Good job k0sh. (please remove my quotes from your post above since they don't apply -sorry)

I was playing around in SqLite Editor, and I stumbled upon a way to enable the grid UI in settings.
What I did was open SqLite Editor, found Settings Storage, then into Setting.db, then into System, found "settings-gridui" and change the value to "1"
I have the S5 found Note 4 and the setting menu as as a grid was pretty cool and to get it back on the Note has made me love this phone even more.
Try it out and let me know if it work a for you all as well.
Thanks for the find! Trying out now
I hate the fact that if you change it to like tab view or something, you can't go back in

Lol is this why you asked about the sqlite editor?
Grid view can be permanently enabled with xml edits. It will also give you the view options you are looking for so you can change views whenever you want. You decompile SecSettings and edit the appropriate xml file (can't remember exactly which one unless i'm looking at the files, sorry) to enable grid view and disable tab view. This combination will allow you to switch between the two views with the menu button. However it won't let you use tab and grid settings at the same time for some reason... only list and grid or list and tab.
What you are doing is editing the settings.db file which is fine but if you do a reset it will be lost.

Decompile SecSettings.apk
Look in res/values for bools.xml
I believe you will find the setting in there... i'm pretty sure.
Just remember that you can only set one of them to true. If you set grid and tab both to true, it will not work.
Save then recompile and push it into your priv-app folder then set permissions and it will stick.

I wanna do what it says up there^
Or customize it.
This had been universally easy on Samsung devices and pre-marshmallow... But I've had no luck with any Xposed module yet. Tried the regulars, gravity box, wanam, firefds, x-blast, and a few moto-x modules.
My absolute last option will be to do a regex replacement for anything that says SPRINT but ughhh, that's like killing a squirrel with a 44 magnum.
Anybody able to point me to a more surgical method of this?
...(fear I might be stuck with heinous notification icons and carrier text in the bar until custom ROMs like RR hit the goop)

If you're talking about removing the carrier label you can do that from the settings of the phone
Flat style bar indicators will let you change the text, size and shape of literally every element of your status bar.

Yes, you can do it with a theme from the samsung theme store or you can use substratum on an unrooted Note 20 Ultra. How to use substratum has checnged from the first post but toward the end of the thread are the new procedures.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/substratum/official-starting-substratum-andromeda-t3798316
Here's one example of substratum.

Hex Installer allows you to keep the Samsung theme but change the UI element colors. You can even fine tune the background colors. No root needed and no wonky Substratum setup.

By default it's already using a Samsung theme!
Changing the Samsung theme is reversible and causing no performance impact (except live wallpapers and such).
>Many themes* to chose from, I recommend one of high contrast themes.
>Choose the homescreen wallpaper you want.
>Then chose from one of the hundreds of free icon packs on the Glaxy Store.
*use themes to get the keyboard, phone dialer, messages theme etc that you like best. As per above the rest are interchangeable.
That's the trick and the fix. It's time consuming but works well.

I just changed mine from "Default" to "Purple", just to make it really pronounced - could not find a single thing on the phone that had changed to "Purple"? I even rebooted just for laughs - still nothing, settings menus, it says "accent color" so I have no idea what that could even mean? I did spend about 30 minutes digging around the phone checking all kinds of stuff to make sure I didn't miss anything - finally put it back to "Default"!

This dev settings option is from stock Android and was originally the only way of changing accent colours on devices running stock before Google added its own theming option later. It has nothing to do with the way Samsung implements theming and accent colours in One Ui, and for that reason does not work on Samsung devices.
The only thing that the developer option did on my side, was to change the background colour of default system icons that got no icon.
Here are two examples : one black and the other cinnamon.
Why dont you try the following apps developed for Samsung and you found them in Galaxy store:
Good lock has a bunch of modules to create your unique theme
When you use Theme Park module to create a new them make sure you tap on the top right corner on the sun icon to choose the dark mode. Basically when you create a new them you can create one for light mode(sun icon) and another for dark mode(moon icon) in one package as one them.
If you dont like the quickpanel you can change the colour scheme on your like using Quick Star module
Keyboard you can make a new theme using Theme Park (Keyboard section) ,the possibilities are endless ,make sure again you tap on sun icon to select dark mode for keyboard ?
Then use Keys Cafe module, submenu "style your own keyboard " to add key/motion effect when typing
If you want to go even further, then you can create your very own keyboard ,customised the location of the keys and add functions to them
Check attachments and YouTube link of the theme keyboard
