Hi folks, I am trying to either install CF auto root or install TWRP recovery for my Verizon Galaxy note 4. I have the SM-N910V so I thought I wouldn't have any problems. When trying CFs auto root it fails and the log looks like this,

I installed an update from samsung a few days ago. Could this be my problem? Do I need to factory reset to get the unlocked bootloader back?

If you don't have a Developer Edition then you cannot root. Only the Developer Edition Note 4 can be rooted, not the retail version. If you did not buy your Note 4 directly from Samsung, not Verizon, then you have the retail version, not the Developer Edition. If your phone was advertised as "unlocked" and you did not buy it from Samsung, then you have a carrrier "unlocked" phone, not a bootloader unlocked phone.

Thanks a lot for the reply. I have read on a few sites that the model SM-N910V was indicative of the developer model. I guess that is not the case? If not I hope someone is able to figure out a root solution. Is it possible that updating the samsung software from NI1 to NJ5 could lock the bootloader?

Yes if you're using the wrong firmware. There is a version that is safe for the Developer Editon in that it does not "touch" the bootloader. Look in the Android Development section of this forum.

So I followed the instructions here i found on google by searching "how to how to root s6 edge plus", second link down... and it was a bad idea. Now my phone will boot, and show the lock screen for a second or two, and then just reboot. So I'm stuck in a bootloop. I'm fairly new to the android rooting scene (I've been jailbreaking iPhones sice 2007). What do I do? I tried restoring the default firmware in Odin but it didn't work. HELP!

Your phone is not bricked.
Best bet is to odin flash the official stock firmware and then go into recovery mode.
When in recovery do a factory reset.
Then reboot the phone.
After doing the above the phone will work fine.
Good luck,
Have a nice evening.

Hey all I'm not sure what happened but I reflashed to stock KitKat and while I did that I installed all the newest updates to receive Lolipop and after I finished that I downloaded CF-AutoRoot. I rooted it and got stuck with a bootloop so I went into the stock recovery and erased everything. So I repeated step one by reflashing KitKat and now Odin is giving me an error and it isn't working.

You have a dev edition or retail?
Retail I believe
Could I just go into TWRP, go to my computer, put on a ROM, transfer it to my phone, and then install something from there?
I don't really care about stock at this point

If you're able to get in TWRP you do not have retail version. Do you have any ROMs or TWRP backups on an SD card? The CF-autoroot part is confusing me I don't remember ever having to use that.

Nope none. I tried downloading about 4 different stock roms and they all give me the same error in Odin.
I'm able to get into TWRP and Custom OS but that's it. The phone just keeps restarting after the Note 4 logo

You can't flash stock roms (.zip files)in ODIN. They need to be .tar files
First check under your battery it should say developer device. If not you have a retail version. If you do have developer edition try to go through these steps and hopefully you will be okay. .

If you have a retail version try this.

Yes definitely just do an advance wipe and wipe data, system, cache, and dalvik cache before. But don't confuse TWRP with the stock recovery. TWRP is a custom recovery.
Hi guys my step son has proper messed up his phone he's somehow tripped knox and is stuck in a bootloop. I cannot seem to find a current recovery from brick solution for the latest firmwares. The only guide I can find seems to be before knox was implemented I've been looking round and tried one or two guides with no success. I'm really stuck here and am pleading for any help I can get.

It's not possible to go back all the way because it'll just get blocked by the bootloader! If your problem is only FRP then have the previous owner log in on the phone using his or her Google account.. That's all you have to do and if you are going to write back saying you can't get a hold of the previous owner then you'll need to call AT&T for help because FRP is a security feature for stolen phones and people on xda aren't really keen on helping get around that.

thankyou for your response, i see the need for concern, however i can assure these have not been stole.
my brother in law owns small company. He supplies the people that work for him a phone. however if they quit or get fired they have to return the phone. so what he did was tried to factory reset by holding power+volume up+home button. I was able to talk him out of a few of these same make/model galaxy note 5.
This morning using odin i was able to flash Android 7.0 Nougat firmware successfully to the phone... however FRP still remains

FRP stands for factory reset protection.. And if that's the case you can call AT&T and they can remove it for you from their systems. It's as simple as a phone call.
