[Q] NOTE II Treve mod works but disconnects - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

ok guys - you all seem way more smarter than I on here! I have the following:
Galaxy NOTE II on Sprint
rooted
busybox
treve mod
version 3.2 -beta2-mod5 ***Synergized***
also have version 2.0.2- pre 10 - but doent connect or do anything - but also have had the issues before I downloaded this....
OK, I can connect and run tether for all day if just doing stupid stuff....
Using Amazon prime for movies, or the Prime Fire TV box....I can run for 30 minutes or so and then I disconnect....gradually I get less and less connection time...as if I have used to much DATA or something. I am a long time Sprint customer so I have unlimited data and cant understand where the restrictions are coming from if there are any or why it is dropping. I am sitting in a 4g 4-5 bar connection area.
Thanks for looking!

This is the note 3 section incase you mistaked it

[Q] Tethering: Can Sprint detect tethering to an android tablet?

Please, be gentle, since this is my first thread ever.
I was reading up on this information at AndroidPolice.com regarding Sprint blocking tethering apps from the Market.
http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/1...locking-tethering-apps-in-the-android-market/
In Art Russ's G+, some people were commenting about the ability of Sprint reading NAT Headers to find out whether you're tethering or not
https://plus.google.com/111991876596496628445/posts
I'm not actively using tethering, in fact I haven't even rooted the E4GT yet, but I did have my former Evo3D rooted to tether to my Asus Transformer.
Now my wife has CM7 on her HP Touchpad, and I still have my Asus Transformer. I'd like to be able to tether to them if we're on a trip somewhere away from the house, but I don't like having "big brother" knowing that I'm doing so.
Summarizing, can they detect tethering, more specifically, to Android (Honeycomb/2.3 version CM7 uses on Touchpad) tablets? figured maybe if the machine tethered was running android it would end up being the same or similar "header" (or whatever is called/checked) and wouldn't matter, but I could be way far off.
Please, let me know. Also, please, no bashing; in case this was answered previously. I took the time to search but didn't find this specific case commented after the "iPhone effect". If you find this has been answered elsewhere, please provide me with a link to that discussion so I can read up on it.
Thank you, and best regards.
I don't know about Sprint (I haven't heard of any instances myself) but AT&T has been sending notices to people about automatically changing their accounts to a more expensive tethering plan for awhile now. With AT&T it doesn't seem to matter what you tether to, they catch you. There's posts in either the Atrix forums or Inspire forums on Xda about it, I forget which.
Edit: The thread is in the Atrix general forum, there's over 400 posts.

i tether to my laptop and asus transformer like crazy and have never had any probs with sprint as of yet. the sprint techs and employees at my local store all have rooted phones with wifi tether as well so they prob would be first to stop when they know that sprint is gonna start cracking down.
can you explain how

Just wondering if you can explain how your tethering please? Everything I've tried tells me its not available with my carrier which is sprint.
I don't need this feature to often, but i do need it.
Thank you for your time.

Download Foxfi to your phone, its off the market so do a Google search for it and then get PDAnet Tablet app for your tablet or PDAnet for your desktop or laptop. They all work flawlessly for tethering...
Ive been running custom roms on my E4GT that come with a hacked version of Sprints Hotspot and i tether my tablet,laptop,etc...and ive been doing it for about 7 months or so and ive never had any problems or issues from Sprint. I also do the same thing with my Evo 4G thats runnin MikG 3.11 rom, that also has Sprints Hotspot hacked for free use. However i have heard of a few ppl recieving letters from sprint bcuz they were using a hacked Sprint hotspot,or wifi tether app,for free, but they only recieved those letters bcuz they were using around 40GB,or more, data a month. One excuse to use would be that u stream Netflix to ur LCD/LED tv via ur devices micro hdmi output to the hdmi input on ur tv. just my 2 cents.

Can sprint detect tethering? Almost certainly yes, by any number of ways - NAT info, web browser user agent string, types of traffic.
Are they actively seeking out users tethering at the current time? Not that we know of.
I've been (very infrequently) tethering on Sprint since Windows Mobile 6.x, and had no trouble. Think of it like your neighbor's open WiFi - using it sparingly and infrequently, and no one will notice or mind. But if you start torrenting/downloading like crazy, eventually someone's going to smack you. (all of us?)

There are apps that mask that type of information at the present moment. This question is asked every couple of months. I suggest you google search and look up the hundreds of threads about this and see if anyone has gotten themselves in any trouble. Remember the ones who tether and not like the user above said not the ones who use torrents...
If you do find 1 just 1 please post back here I would like to meet them....

[Q] just rooted but no free wifi hot spot? HELP!!

FIRST I DID READ MANY THREADS AND DID SEARCH THE SITE BEFORE POST. NOT NEW TO THIS RODEO. I rooted my phone using unrevoked3 with no problems. I was and am able to use the WiFi hotspot for share my internet with other devices over WiFi (no wires) . Now my cousin just got the evo and want to have free WiFi likeme and not have to pay Sprint 30 bucks a month for it. His phone is 2.3.3 sounrevoked3 won't work so I tried for the first time revolutionary. I have the Superuser and it is in s-off,,, but when i go to try the sprint WiFi hotspot I get the message that I don't have that on my plan so it doesn't work. It seem to me that it is rooted, so why doesn't this work likeit does for me? Do I need to flash a ROM to get it to work or did I goof something up? Please help me out, I spent four hours playing around with this today and reading different threads on rooting the new way,, all for family but feel like I let my cousin down by not getting him what I said I was able to do. So i need to help of some of the brightest techies on the best forum ever!
yes you have to download a rom that has it integrated or find a wireless tethering app to download.

Think you've been reading the wrong stuff. It sounds like you haven't fully rooted your phone or rooted it with one of the latest ROMs. I know some ROMs don't include wifi sharing - also known as tethering.

You need a hacked hotspot or simply get wifi tether from the market. Iirc, using unrevoked comes with a rooted stock rom with hotspot being an included app. But I'm not sure since I used unrevoked only once a long time ago. Using revolutionary doesn't flash a rom. So everything about the rom is stock...but you have an unlocked boot loader. Flash a rom with unlocked hotspot, most of them have it

You can also use Caulkins mod to unlock the hotspot/usb tethering
Check this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=785271&highlight=caulkins+wireless+tether
Download and flash using the recovery of your choice. Note this will only work over 3g. If you want to tether 4g you will need an app like wifi tether.

[Q] 2013 LTE nexus 7 - lost native tether with tmobile on kitkat

Just as the title says. I used to tether every day on the train with my tmobile plan. I flashed manually to the official kitkat image a few days ago, and since then my tethering has been blocked by tmobile.
Has anyone else run into this and solved it?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.
This is really disconcerting for me. I had my sim in a mobile hotspot with T-mobile and bought the Nexus 7 to put that sim into. I would still be able to tether with the tablet and also use SMS directly from the device instead of accessing it through a webpage. With this update, Google breaks the two features I bought this device for. Not only is this a problem but I can't seem to find a place to actually complain to Google about this and expect to get any kind of answer about it.
Check the nexus 5 q&a section. There is a hack to fix this.

I'm going to flash back to 4.3 tonight to see if i can get my tethering working again.
There is no benefit to 4.4 on my nexus 7 compared to 4.3. Actually, there is only a downside, many apps I use just crash on 4.4.
Will report back tonight if my tether starts to work again.
ok, an update as I said. I flashed the previous version "jls36i" stock image back, and I'm happily tethering once again on the train
Does anyone know where I have to go on the internet to get an answer from Google as to why tethering is disabled on Kit Kat for the Nexus 7? I've tried to find some place to send an email, have a discussion, fill out a web form, or anything but I can't find anyplace that I'm sure will get me an answer back. I'm not a social media person but I will join one if I can get an answer to my questions. Any help would be appreciated.
They've definitely changed something in the past month or two. I was able to tether to my ipod w/o any issues. I hit my 500mb limit today. I figured, no big deal, will just fire up my vpn (L2TP) from the ipod. Done deal, right? Nope. They can still detect it somehow.
I will have to check it out on my pc. I have a hunch they can somehow tell that tethering is enabled on the phone (nexus 5 4.4).

[Q] How to Get Around T-Mobile Hotspot

Ok, I know I have seen a few threads about this but nothing conclusive or, dare I say, noob friendly as to how to resolve it. So I am asking here. My roommate has moved out leaving me with a few weeks of having to rely on my phone for internet. I am currently running Infamous v.8 and by using Hotspot Shield Free and Wifi Tether TrevE I can hotspot tether for a limited about of data before I have to wait about 6 hours or so. I am looking to find a way to just hotspot tether natively without using apps and without getting the T-mobile screen. I have used many roms including the Carbon KitKat rom using dalvik but still get the T-mobile screen, if the computer connects at all.
I have heard about some libs you can push to get tethering to work, but having never done that, I would need some detailed instructions.
Thanks for any help you can give.
Do this it works on the att s4 using the built in native hotspot feature
First go to settings applications /manager /all
Your tmobile s4 may not have the native hotspot feature but if does this step is critical for it to work...
Find the hotspot app disable it .
Next go to any root browser tool and go to prefer rom toolbox lite.
Go to System/app find tetheringprovsion.apk rename it to tetheringprovision.bak
Rename the tetherprovision.odex
To tetherprovision.bak2
Download the modified tether provision apk from the att s4 general forum. and copy it into sytem/app folder same folder you renamed the others.
reboot phone and then after reboot.
Go back to settings apllication manager/all
and re enable hotspot
Then you can tether .

I know some ROM's that have tethering and portable hotspot built in. On my old Samsung Relay had a Clockwork mod, and when I went to settings, more - there was an area for tethering and portable hotspot and it ran just like it was a normal function included with the phone. Loved it.
So check the different rom's out there some should have the same thing.

[Q] Has anyone got FoxFi hotspot running on AT&T Note 2 after 4.3 update?

I see various devices on various carriers have had problems with the wifi hotspot on FoxFi after the 4.3 OTA update, and while some people have been able to get around the problem, I don't see that anyone has with the AT&T Note 2.
I've tried the trick of pressing the home button when the dialog box pops up saying "Mobile hotspot is unavailable ... To enable mobile hotspot on this device, go to att.com/mywireless or dial 611" and then opening FoxFi again. FoxFi shows the hotspot is active, but no device can see it.
I actually had PDANet installed (fully paid), and it showed that the FoxFi component was version 2.10. I uninstalled PDANet and reinstalled version 2.13.1 of FoxFi (not sure what the difference is between the PDANet and FoxFi versions of the app). Same problem.
The only other possible solution I've run across involved the Note 3 on Verizon -- accepting a new VPN certificate or forcing FoxFi to offer a new one up by getting rid of the existing one. But FoxFi has never offered me a certificate, and I don't see any old one (or any for that matter) in Settings > Security > Trusted Credentials > User.
Has anyone whose Note 2 is not rooted been able to get FoxFi functioning after updating to 4.3?
Alrighty! The thus far deafening silence leads inexorably to this query then: does anyone have FoxFi running on a rooted AT&T Note 2 and is also paired with a Galaxy Gear?
I opted for stock OTA 4.3 with my Note 2 primarily because of the Gear, but the FoxFi problem on 4.3 has proven to be a double-whammy -- not only have I lost the hotspot after taking 4.3 OTA, but I also can no longer Bluetooth tether -- which means I can't get a direct Internet connection to the Gear (and do all those things that the limited, stock Gear connection to one's phone cannot do).
Somebody... anybody? I'm at an airport right now using the abominable Boingo $5 for 24 hours of 2.8 Mbps d/l speed service on my tab. The hotel I stayed at had its wifi go down for 2 hours yesterday afternoon. I would root and find a way, but I don't want to have to mess (read: spend time) with the can of worms that would open with pairing my Galaxy Gear....

Why PM? Can you please post this publicly? I have the same problem. Thanks!
Most custom ROMs have it built it.
I don't know about cocheci, but as I indicated above, I'd need a custom ROM that also works with the Gear without problem. From what I've gleaned from its thread, the Sky Note Air 4.3 ROM may well fit that bill. I just have to find an empty space in my schedule for the potential time sink. (Got a wife and young kids and a more than full time job, so long gone are the days when I could spend all night dikking around with tech toys.)

Sky note is an awesome ROM. Latest version is G2 I believe. It also comes with out the NOTE 3 stuff in the vanilla flavor. Very lickable. I mean likable.
Not much dikking required.
