Hi,
I have a note 10.1 edition 2014. I'm using S-Note intensivly. Now S-Note crashes often. I'm thinking of un- and reinstalling it. But it seems that i can't uninstall it without root acces. If i'd have, would it be able to uninstall S-Note ? How could i do that ? I don't find S-Note in the settings to choose it for uninstalling. And if i'd be able to uninstall it, where do i find it for reinstalling ? It does not seem to be in the Appstore.
Thanks for any hint.
Bernd
You wouldn't need to uninstall it, just clear data for the app through the application manager. Make sure you have all of your notes backed up first.
Hi,
i have a backup. But where can i clear the data ? I don't find S-Note in the application manager.
Bernd
You need to swipe over to the "All" section, it won't show up in the "Downloaded" list.

Hi,
i found it and deleted the data. But unfortunately the app still crashes. Any further ideas ?
Bernd
Well I recommend you to use iroot (formerly known as vroot) software to root your device cause it works like a charm especially on Samsung devices....

Has anyone successfully disabled this thing? I really don't need it and don't want to download it as it's 30mb, and want it removed from my apps in the play store.
Would be nice for there to be a 'hide update' feature.

:good: I agree
I have until I decide to use it. However, you need root to disable, freeze, uninstall the app.

Yes, do you happen to know what the app refers itself as? I've froze all allcast files but this thing still shows up.

Thanx ! Found those files, but using ASTRO file manager I seem not to be able to delete those files ...
My Galaxy SIII is unrooted, could that perhaps be the problem?
If u eant it to be disabled I can probably help u with that.
Just go to settings---->applications manager-----> select the app u want to disable...
Remeber first clear cache, then clear data, force stop, disable, or uninstall
Whichever the option is listed

Thanks for that, but this particular thing does not let itself become disabled, the option is greyed-out. Here and on other sites I read that indeed the only way to have it NOT trun up in Google Play constantly is to remove the FWUpgrade.apk.
But I am afraid I cannot do that without root-access, unless someone has a work-around?
Yea ull need root. It's easy to root, just flash an already rooted stock Rom with Odin.

No root (unrooted) = no way to disable. There is no other way around it. This is true of several third party apps on stock ROM.

I'm having the Allshare Cast dongle issue. I want to get rid of it, but can't. Is there now a solution?
My phone (Mega 6.3) IS rooted, running MegaFireMj2V7X, and yet I'm still unable to do anything with "FWUpgrade.apk" in /system/app dir.
Any help would be gratefully received, thanks.
thanks for this. worked on my note3 w/4.4.2. root stock TW. you do need root and must mount /system RW to delete. joy!
Hi Guys, I have Question.
Lets say i rooted my device, L-04E
after root i started to remove some basic application (by the provider, as docomo).
1) Can i brick my phone by removing these applications?
2) Is factory reset will install them back? or i need to do restore?
i am about to try:
Root
Backup all these provider apps (as dialer, etc..)
uninstall all the annoying apps
am i missing something?
Don't unninstall, freeze them (TiBU, App Quarantine, etc) and set the QuickButton to open the app you`re using to freeze them just in case you f*ck up the launcher.
There will no problem, good luck.

I believe titanium backup (tibu) needs root but the app description should tell you if it needs root or not. Just check the app description before downloading.

I am having a problem getting the default app settings to stick. I have Chrome browser set as my default browser. Everytime I click on a link in a email or in a web page I have to select which browser I want to use. I click on Chrome and select always, then I get the popup notification that I need to go to the default settings and clear. I have done this so many times I can't count them any more. I have tried using the Default App Manager from Google play store but still have to select which browser I want to use each time. I am runing IronRom 2.3.5.
I have exactly the same problem with all apps. Driving me crazy
Maybe we will get lucky and someone will eventually reply with a fix or at least an explanation as to what is causing this.

Is there a chance you are rooted and removed or froze (Titanium Backup) apps to reduce bloat ware? I ask as I lost proper app association functionality after doing what I described. I refreshed my firmware and regained normal association functionality. Unfortunitely I never identified which specific app I needed to leave alone and never had the patience to do a trial and error test so cannot help further.

Press power, volume up, home button together, when it starts unpress power, then delete all cache and data, then reboot. On start you have options to re- install, check new user

The first time I used ODIN to re-flash the stock firmware (5.0.2). That wiped all my user data, but the second time I copied the firmware tar file to the Tab S then used Flashfire to only flash the boot, system and recovery images thus preserving user data. Flashfire will automatically reinstall SuperSU to retaining root. I added the clearing of cache to the Flashfire flash process queue just to be thorough.
If you de-bloated by freezing apps with Titanium Backup then first unfreeze everything, reboot and check if app associations work again. Could save you a lot of time because re-flashing would not be required.
If you de-bloated by removing system apps they will need to be removed again but if you used Titanium Backup to freeze apps they will still be frozen and you will likely still have the issue with app association. I used to remove system apps but I switched to TiBu freeze specifically because when I upgrade firmware (e.g. BOE2 to BOE3) my de-bloat selections are retained. Just more convenient. There maybe slicker ways to get app associations working again but I never found an alternative.
Hope that helps.
Hi.
Recently I unlocked and rooted my G4. There were some problems with him, so I installed a theoretical clean soft from *.zip by TWRP (there was no capture+ and quick memo as in the original).
The problem is that when you run an application or browser when pops pop up, I'm not able to click "allow / refuse",
because the application does not react to it!
While in the application is okay and I can get out of it and do it in the app options then in the browser, when the page shows some pop up windows it becomes impossible or terribly annoying.
Another thing is that I can not run the banking application, even though Magisk hides the root.
Is there a way to get around this?
In summary, I have a problem with non-responsive popup windows and root to the banking application for now ..
Regards and I count on your help
Wipe everything. Go to advanced in wipe do not check off microsd and internal storage
Reinstall ROM gapps and SuperSU or migisk
This way u can have a clean and install and not loose your files
I have tried this and it didnt work for me :/
What about banking app?

First and most important: without an info what you flashed you can't expect much help. Is it stock? Is it a custom ROM ? Which one ? What version ? Did you tried a clean install ? This popup window problem sound 99% like an issue with your data partition so do this:
wipe -> FORMAT DATA!! (you will loose all your internal media obviously .. So make a backup of your photos etc before )
wipe -> advanced -> system and cache
Reboot -> recovery
Flash the ROM of your choice
Boot android
This must fix your popup issue. If not try another ROM .
Magisk hide doesn't work properly for me too. It's always a cat & mice game . I found another approach which even let my stubborn banking app load! Check it out : the app is named island : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oasisfeng.island
It creates an island for your apps which are so much hidden that no root detect will work and so let your app load

@steadfasterX You are genius! Thx so much, my app now is working
I flash stock ROM v29a, but now its ok. The problem was Fluidng and "drawing over apps", I uninstalled that app and now pop up windows working well
@steadfasterX did you use a particular setting or method in the sandbox? My banking app still complains about root.

no but ensure the app is shown in the "island" tab and start the app from there.

I have the Korean 6gb Tab S4 and the stock calendar is a little weird. It has some Korean stuff that won't translate (holidays, alternative holidays and government mandatory observances) plus the date is a little weird.
I tried a manually updating it and it wouldn't let me, it said it was already up to date. The app numbers are also different.
Anyway I was thinking of replacing it with the latest stock Samsung calendar from apk mirror. Do you think it is safe to Uninstall it? It won't let me from the stock app manager, but I could from titanium backup. My concern with that is that calendar storage (app/apk) would likely be effected as well. I'm just not sure what deleting and installing the apk mirror version of the calendar app will do to system stability.
Can anyone please advise me?
If there is a better forum for this question please let me know and I will post this question in the other forum.
Thank you for your consideration.

Simply,before uninstalling take a backup
Also, you can backup any application very easily without root using an application from playstore - "share apps"
you can reset the application whenever you like

I'll do it. I need to wait until I'm around a trustworthy computer and I'll try deleting it.
