Q - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

Hello everyone. I currently own a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S3 SGH T999. For some reason I can't flash in TWRP. When I flash a new ROM it says " Failed MD5 check MD5 file missing" How do I go about to fix this?

Disable md5 check in twrp

I tried that it still doesn't work.

And what happens?

It says the same thing.

Make sure it's the latest version of twrp, if that doesn't work use cwm

How do I update TWRP?

Through Odin, or an app like flashify

Are you on the latest version of CWM? If not update to latest versions of CWM.
what would be the latest for s3 4.3 I tried CWM_6.0.4.7 but it didn't work it stays in a black screen
ok I used a couple of them even the one im running now its cwm 6.4.7 same error it doent take anyroms at all none. its rooted so I have no clue what else to try any ideas?
Being rooted won't make a difference. Download and flash latest cwm or twrp if it still doesn't work. Check their site for the most up to date recovery version
on the cwm website the version is 6.0.4.5 and I have CWM_6.0.4.7 so its not the recovery its gotta be be something else

Try different methods to download the rom. Could be bad downloads. If it still doesn't work, use twrp

Help rooting sgh-m919 baseband FOK3....

[Solved, Read next Post] Hey guys, bought an S4 for wife and would like to root it. Read everywhere to root but not for this baseband version, FOK3. Even tried Odin 3.07 to install twrp then SU. I couldn't get the recovery tar to stick and was hung up on downloading mode. Does anybody know the proper steps and links to root this newly updated phone? I don't want to brick this puppy. Thanks.
[Solved] So I Downloaded CF- Auto-Root for the sgh-m919 Build ID NH7. I said F' it and went for it......Went into download mode, ran Odin that was included in CF Auto Root folder and loaded the .tar file and it actually worked! I rebooted and had SU with stock recovery. Then I went into download mode again and and flashed twrp via Odin. Even made a nandroid right away. Bam....custom recovery and rooted!!!! So if anybody is on the latest stock OTA FOK3 Build....this will work.

Firmware Update

Hello,
I have been reading the forum trying to find information on how to flash a custom rom to my phone to upgrade my current firmware. I am currently on stock firmware 4.3 and my phone is rooted.
I am attempting to to upgrade my phone's firmware to a stable release (if possible) of firmware 5.0 or higher. Preferably the most stable release, as long as it is a minimum of 5.0.
I was reading several threads in the development section. However, a lot of the links in the threads are dead due to the age of them. When I do find a download, I am also unsure of what download type to use for my phone. My phone model is SGH-I747M (a Bell Canada phone). I see things at times referencing the AT&T I747 phone d2att downloads. But, I was unsure if any of that related to mine.
If anyone could point me in the right direction on where to go to begin flashing my phone to at least 5.0 it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
I recommend flashing your phone to the latest ROM from sammobile.com. This will update both the bootloader and modem to the latest release. Then, flash TWRP and any custom ROM designed for the d2can, d2att, or d2lte.

Thank you for your response.
When coming back to reply to your post, I just noticed that you said to flash TWRP. I was reading so many different threads on here that I ended up flashing clockworkmod (version: 5.5.0.4).
I went to the sammobile site and downloaded the ROM package for the ATT phone. I hope that was the right one. However, upon attempted installation it says that the instillation was aborted.
I also tried flashing a ROM from the "[ROM][OFFICIAL][Lollipop 5.1.1][D2ATT] PAC-ROM LP MR1" thread. However, upon attempted installation a message pops up that says:
Warning: No file_contexts . This package is for device: d2att, d2lte, d2tmo; this device is d2spr.
Any assistance on this? My device definitely said SGH-I747M for the model number.
I performed all the factory reset steps before attempting to flash. So, now my phone doesn't boot up. I created a nandroid backup before doing all this. But, I'm not sure how to proceed with flashing a ROM.
Thanks!
You need to flash the stock rom for an i747m as the att s3 is the i747 if you want to return to stock.
CWM is outdated.

I apologize. I was mistaken from reading so many things over the last couple days. I double checked and it was the stock rom for i747m that I attempted to flash from here: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SGH-I747M/
I downloaded the "Bell Mobile" package.
I also just flashed TWRP to my phone instead of clockworkmod. I attempted to flash the stock ROM package through TWRP and I now get this error message:
It says it is installing the zip file that I specified and then says:
Checking for md5 file...
Skipping MD5 check: no MD5 file found
Verifying zip signature....
Zip signature verification failed!
Is there something I'm overlooking? So far I've rooted my device, flashed TWRP, made a nandroid backup through both clockworkmod and TWRP and backed up both to my computer, downloaded the stock firmware from sammobile, inserted the zip file into my SD card, and attempted to flash through both clockworkmod and TWRP.
And thank you very much for your assistance. It doesn't seem like this forum gets much activity anymore. So, it is greatly appreciated.
Update: I also just verified that my version of TWRP is the most up to date release.
Sammobile ROMs must be flashed via Odin.

I was actually just about to come back into this thread to ask if I had to flash using Odin.
My phone showed up fine in Odin prior to flashing clockworkmod or TWRP. However, with TWRP flashed, Odin no longer recognizes my phone.
What could I do about this? If I need to remove TWRP and revert to stock recovery, I'm not sure how to.
I hope this is the last piece in solving this puzzle. :good:
Thanks!
Edit: I figured out why it wasn't being recognized in Odin. I was entering into recovery mode instead of download mode upon starting up the phone. That's my mistake. I'll be attempting the flash later in the day and will report back if everything goes fine, or if there's any issues, so this thread can be resolved in case any future users stumble upon it.
Are you in download mode when connected to Odin?
Have you tried different USB cables and USB ports?

I got it all working now. I updated via the sammobile website and then flashed one of the ROMS found on this site in the development section.
So, all is good now. I've lost root after flashing one of the roms from the development section. But, I'll have to figure that out later.
For the most part, it is all resolved.
Thank you very much for your assistance. :good:
Depending on the rom, enabling root access may be found under developer options.

No MD5 file CM13?

Hi guys, I just rooted my phone (HTC One M8 international) and installed TWRP. I am currently stock with no roms and I am trying to flash the latest cm13 nightly build from this site: https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=m8. Everytime I try to flash the rom, it always says that the download has failed because no MD5 file was found... I made sure that I had the current TWRP version on my device.. and that I wiped my device before flashing...how do I fix this?

Why does it fail?

So I'm trying to reinstall the original firmware on my Galaxy Alpha G850F after using EpsilRom v4.4 .But when I flash it with odin it fails, and I don't know why.Everything on the phone is unaccesible, because of the fail, it went in the Firmware Emergency. So, how do I fix this?
This is the fail: https://imgur.com/a/pS2Ql
I'm not exactly sure how Odin works, but it looks like you are flashing the MD5 checksum, and not the actual .tar file. Just speculation though.
