Game controller & Remote - Fire TV Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My FTV is rooted and I wanted to make sure it's safe, to update the game controller and remote (I notice a firmware update available)? I read on another site that some users are having issues. Also, I have another question....I blocked updates from Amazon...how can they update the game controller and the remote????? Is there a CFW or another method to update the game controller and the remote?

[Q] Game controllers (Logitech F710) - How to connect? USB Host cable?

After seeing Transformer Prime + Logitech F710 in action, how do we get the same from HTC One X? Tegra 3 was said to support all game controllers like PS3, XBOX360. Does it really work and how to do it so there would be no apps needed like sixaxis and no compatibility issues?
i bought a ps3 controller just for this, but as I sent my first HOX back because of backlight flickering and haven't received a new one yet I haven't been able to try it. I don't think it will work via bluetooth without something like the sixaxis app.
Cant get my ps3 controller connected with the Sixaxis app, the compatibility checker says I'm compatible, used the sixaxispairtool to change the master Bluetooth on my controller to match the phone but when trying to pair it just says no controller found.
There is a video on YouTube of it working on a HOX with stock rooted ROM but I'm using Coredroid.
EDIT
Scratch that, managed to get it working, instructions on the sixaxis devs website a a bit misleading. Makes Shodowgun so much easier
Is it possible to use the Logitech 710 with the HTC One X? If so, how does it work?

[Q] A few questions about Fire TV

Here is what my needs are :
Netflix
XBMC reading files off a NAS/SMB or USB drive, or some other video player
Some emulators using a Ps3 controller.
Is this still a good solution for this, or should I just go with something like this - http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00OTK8OZ0/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1F1P6OW46LBLQ
My wife is in the States this week so I can get her to pick a Fire TV up.
Thanks.
Netflix/xbmc/smb/nas all fine and run great. I would recommend spmc over kodi/xbmc though, but try both.
videos from USB drive can be done but only with root and StickMount. Root is only possible on older fire tvs. If this is something you want/need, maybe ask your wife to check the serial numbers on the boxes shes finds (my gf would just laugh at me if I asked ;P). Here is a guide: http://www.aftvnews.com/how-to-decode-an-amazon-fire-tv-or-fire-tv-stick-serial-number/
PS3 controller can be paired with an aftv, but also required root access and has some slight annoyances (like needing to launch the sixasis app first before each use and stopping it after each use, plus the remote doesn't work at the same time). Thread about it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2710632
But you have other options. PS4 controller works better, and I think does not need root. 360 controller (which I know has a crappy d-pad for emulators) or the official controller. Or even something like the NES30.
I can't speak to the box you linked, but I love my fire tv! If you are flexible on the PS3 controller, then you I think you're good to go.

Thanks for the info, for what I want it for root will most likely be needed. I will have to order it from Amazon.com and get it delivered to her hotel so checking the serial is out of the question. I am sure it is answered somewhere, but why has no root been found for newer versions?
In that case you may be lucky and get a rootable one. There are reports that Amazon.com are still shipping them, but that was a while ago (maybe 2 months ago).
I don't know the specifics as to why newer ones aren't rooted yet, but from what I understand the original firmware versions had a old Android exploit that allowed root, which was eventually patched. A new exploit hasn't been found, but awesomely dedicated people are working on it There is a hardware root, but I have no experience with it. There's a thread about it here on xda.

Pairing a Wii Remote to Android 6.0

I have been trying to pair a wii remote on my rooted Nvidia Shield Android TV for the past couple of days. I want to pair it so I can use the dolphin emulator to play wii games. Firstly, I have done this before on older devices, but it seems that being on android 6.0 there is an issue. I have tried to pair with wiimote controller and bluez ime and could not get it to sense the controllers. The Bluetooth option to add an accessory on the console shows the wii remote as available, but asks for a pin when you do it. I have tried keying "0000 and 1234" and no luck. It is not my controller, because I have tried 2 different controllers. Its not my console because I've tried to pair on my phone as well. Is there something I am missing? Or do the apps just need updating to work on Android Marshmallow firmware?

You need the Mayflash Wii Bar, thats the unique solution.
I have a "practical wired Sensor Bar w/ USB cable". Should this work? If so, how do I go about using it? Do I use a certain app?

update 5.2.6.0 ruined ps4/ds4 remote connection

5.2.6.0 broke my PS4/ds4 connection to my firestick v1... I don't know how it lasted as long as it did, but it was amazing n convenient for gaming.
I know it's a old topic on pairing the PS4 remote to begin with, but I did have it working flawlessly untill a few days ago.
I've tried everything to re-pair it to no avail. it would be wonderful for someone smarter than me to perhaps find a workaround.
also does ds4 work smoothly with all current rooted fire[sticks]?
Why didn't you block updates? Lol. I'd have a rooted test device to test the waters of the update before letting it on your main system.
What is a pain.
Wish I could help. My post is as equally useless as the one above, though with a bit of compassion.
Good luck.
ive had no luck with pairing two ps4 controllers ds4 either.
i have latest rooted rom firmware 5.2.6.0 firestick gen 1.
otg working with scripts,
the ps4 controllers work if your wired to your stick. but cannot pair.
i have use the Six axis pair tool and changed the bluetooth mac address.
still no joy.
but im tempted to flash an older firmware rooted, to see if it works.
unless someone knows the issue we are facing???

Which game controller for FireTV stick Gen2?

Since the original Amazon game controller doesn't seem to be sold anymore, I was searching for alternatives.
The internet has dozens of guides and videos how to pair a PS4 controller with the FireTV stick, so I grabbed one of mine and tried it.
It just sits there for 30 seconds "Pairing...", then fails. The BT log says something like "The bluetooth stack rejected the pairing attempt".
Does anyone know whether PS4 controllers were banned in a recent firmware update, and can suggest an alternative controller that is known to still work?
