Best ROM for SGH-I747m? - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Hey,
I've been searching but all the information is quite old (1+ year).
I am looking for the ''best'' rom. Best as better than stock (better performance, better battery life, memory management, etc.) It's subjective but I am not looking for one in particular just your impression of what you would use and why.
Also if you have a great up to date link, that would be enough too

I'm a huge fan of Spirit Rom. I've used quite a few, and still keep coming back to it. Good battery life and plenty of customizations to make your phone feel fresh and new again

You won't find many best Rom threads because they are frowned upon. Most end up being closed because they turn into fan fest and trolling nightmares.
Best is an opinion so as the old saying goes an opinion is like a belly button everyone has one.
We will leave this open and see how it goes, if it becomes a problem thread those causing problems will be handled and thread will be closed.
Keep it all cool in here.

Have a great day! from my LG G3

Thanks for the suggestion, I am trying it now. Still trying to figure out how to back-up then I will install. Would be great to have extra suggestions to try more than one custom rom!

I am using Liquid Smooth rom and it runs very fast and smooth. Kitkat 4.4.4.

You can't go wrong with this one IMO. Pretty much stock Lollipop, runs very smooth, battery life is great, and has super active devs. Only thing bugged is the camera, but it still works with Play Store apps and apparently the issue will be fixed soon.

[Q] Which ROM for best battery life but w stock Sense feel (for the wife's phone!)?

Hi,
I'd appreciate some advice (having searched as best I can first, and without hijacking another thread) - I'm a Nexus One user (running CM6.1, and very happy with it), but my wife's Desire (currently unrooted stock latest OTA update) has a sucky habit of running the battery down to zero every so often when she's not using it and I've been thinking a custom ROM is the way to go. However, there's a lot of roms for the desire, and I can't work out which meets the requirements best:
1) Must appear to be a stock Sense rom to the user (she's just got used to the UI, and I don't want her to get flustered) - I'd like something that seems as much like the stock rom as possible please.
2) Best possible battery life (happy to try uv if it's unobtrusive)
Any replies very much welcome, ta.
Jim
I prefer not to say which ROM is better compared to other ROMs as I think it would be unfair on the developers who have put in so much hard work to bring us such a great variety of ROMs, but in terms of battery life, I would personally say that I had the best battery performance out of OpenDesire. The only problem though is that OpenDesire does not have Sense UI. With it, I was averaging about 2-3 days (depending on usage) use out of it before I need to put it on the charger. At that time, I was also running a different Radio (5.10.05.23).
If you really need Sense UI, then I would suggest LeeDroid's ROM as it provides pretty good battery life as well.
Have you considered the MIUI ROMs? they are pretty new and highly customisable, with an iOS like interface with widgets, also provide impressive battery life and are very stable.
I'm sure many would disagree with my findings but this is just based on my own experience of using these ROMs.
MasDroid,
Many thanks for the advice - I've gone with LeeDroid and it's worked like a charm. A well supported and stable ROM, which I'll recommend to anyone in the same position.
Thanks again!
J
I second MasDroid's opinion about LeeDroid ROM.
I am glad you're enjoying such a good ROM. Hope your wife is happy, i know how important that is

My thoughts on most roms (GSM) (personal opinion)

Hi all.
I have started this thread for all users. And mainly newbies.
Now when i say newbies i dont mean anything bad, in a way i mran people eho are new to the nexus and are overwhelmed by all these great roms and devs. (Max respect to all you great devs)
If you are hoping that i will say....this rom is the best......or that rom is the best, you will not find that here...
I am what they would say a "crack flasher" and have flash most of the gsm roms (not all, so devs if i dont mention your rom its because ive had no experiance with it) anyone feel free to post there opinions.
Right lets start.
I am splitting these up in to groups.
Customization (obvious customize hell outa it...not as good battery.
Balanced. Fair customization fair battery.
Stock (ish) pretty much stock less customization. Good battery.
Stock. As close to stock as possible great battery.
I set it it out like this as its my opinion.
Right then, lets really begin this time.
From, the top.
Customization
You have aokp, liquid smooth and black ice, i repeat there may be more that i have not tried.
These 3 roms will give you as much customization as the devs can think of and cram them in there. I find that these have the worst battery. (That does not mean terrible, but just compared to others.
Balanced.
Cyanogen mod 9, eagles blood, gummy. These roms give an average user a good bit of customization and pretty good battery.
Stock (ish) only one i have experianced is bugless beast. I hate stock rom for one reason, wich is no wifi toggles etc. Bugless beast will gives me the feel of stock (wich i love) but with those features.
Toggles aren't the only feature but its what stands out to me most. Also offers great battery life.
Stock
Android revolution hd
This is a great rom for the people who want completely stock but better performance than stock.
Offers really great battery life.
There is one section i missed out as i didnt know what to call the section. The rom that belongs in this unknown section is........BAMF
i have had little experiance with this rom but my opinion is....
This is a unique rom. Well thought out. It dosent look like most of the others. Its set out diferant and offers good customization and pretty decent battery life.
And thats all, i know there are other roms i have missed out but i want to list the ones i have experianced personally.
Please no haters as i have put a lot of effort into this post.

What is the absolutely certifiably most stable ICS rom for the E4GT?

I don't want awful battery life and I want my gps to work. I don't need slick design and sexy graphics.
I'm not a dev and I am not interested in works in progress or reporting bugs. I just want something that works.
What are the best options?

I am running CHRIS41G's CM9 nightlies, and that has yielded the best battery life for me by a large margin.
Blue Kuban has worked the best for me.

Certifiably? That would be Sprint's repacking of the Samsung FF18 release they pushed OTA to the phone. Period.
This is a development forum so the ROMs you'll find here are by the very definition 'works in progress'. If you want your meal and a fork you can use that and be done with it. You don't have to be a developer to take advantage of most of the awesome work here, or make bug reports or support any of these guys if you choose not to.
OR
You could take the time to read through the OPs of the developers and check out what their ROMs looklike, say they have and how they are performing by reading all the way through the posts in said ROM sections.
Some serious reading will save you much aggrevation and a possible bricking of your phone. Take your time, use some patience and you'll be rewarded.
Then you may actually try a few and see what works for you, your skill/technical level, feature sets and overall appearance(s).
This is very good device supported by some excellent developers here.
Welcome to the E4GT. Good luck
The "Black" Rom has been working great for me. Very Stable. All day battery life, GPS works.
Stay away from nightlies. CM9 and AOKP ICS have most bugs ironed out, I can't speak for CM9 but on AOKP I was getting good battery life, some three+ hours of screen time. People swear by Blue Kuban but I had a hoorrriible experience with it, lots of crashes, ugly UI, freezes, reboots, etc. I dunno, every phone is different so that's just me. I would try out AOKP ICS, the ooonlllyyy thing that's slightly weird is that MMS takes its time to come in. TW Roms are your best bet if you're going for stability and battery life to be honest.
team venun wicked the best ot the blu kuban
In all honesty, I get more stability and better battery life off of Sbrissen's JB rom. It runs perfectly.

ROM Recomendation?

Installed CM10 on my One X yesterday thanks to a help from this forum
I'm still new at this stuff [was the first ROM I installed :3], and since CM10 fails to deliver what I was expecting, I gotta change
I can barely get any signal, It's battery life is horrible, but the most terrible thing is that just randomly shuts down sometimes :|
Can anyone recommend a ROM that is fast, got a better battery life, run on JB and are stable enough?
I like CM10's look, which is one of the reason I took it, so if that ROM could have a similiar look I'd like that, though I don't deny Sense ROMs...
Btw, If you don't mind, I'll need a little bit of guidance regarding how to switch ROMs if you don't mind...
Thanks a lot for the helpers
... Just test them all. They work fine.
try .. Ice cream jelly (ICJ) it works very good
It's got to be maXimus for me! a truly great Rom, I highly recommend it!

If you like the pure Android feeling, i strongly recommend Cyanogenmod 10, the seandersn Edition.
Running on my One X for some time now, good battery performance, fluid like butter and up to know i didnt experience any bugs :good:
Link: CyanogenMOD 10 "SE" v2.1
If you're after the Sensi UI, then go for Blade. Really good battery life and performance!

Now after you have a list of possibilities, just start to try by yourself. I will close this one before the usual trouble between fangroups begins .

[Q] ROM Situation

Hey guys,
Just wondering what the state of custom roms are for the OneV.
Usually I just try a few out and get to know who the best devs are in the community are, and fiddle a lot, but this isn't for me.
I'm looking to help out someone with a stock one v where its terribly slow, freezing for long periods etc, and it seems to be that the Dalvik Cache is struggling with its tiny internal storage to work with.
So just wondering if anyone can give some suggestions as to which ROMs are the best for stability, speed, battery life, and fully working.
This person just needs to have their phone actually be usable as a phone is the main thing. My usual go to is official CM or a well known dev.
Preference to well made, clean, and well maintained roms, can be sense or AOSP, personally i prefer AOSP but am wary of driver, battery life and stability issues.
Seeing a lot of discontinued roms, and a lot of hacked together ports as well, so hence asking.
Cheers.
most stable working ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1647052
its a sense ROM
no problems whatsoever with it
best thing, everything worx
battery life is very close to stock which is superb
This is what i want to hear. Many thanks!
Whats the internal memory on this like after install, reasonable amount?
Anything else worth considering? It sounds like AOSP projects at the moment have a hiccup with the camera, which is unfortunate, so it seems sticking with sense is the way to go.

the ROM has 131mb swap script enabled so your RAM has increased a 131mb more
really fluid experience
There was a really stable AOSP ROM slim Bean but the maker has removed it(its a shame)
Dont ask why coz ull start another war
You can try pa2.99 by icebox. Everything works. No bugs. Battery life idc but its good

First, questions are supposed to go to the Q&A forum. Second, these types of threads are known to lead to colorful discussions, shall we say, between supporters of different ROMs. You will get different answers from everyone anyways as no one uses their phones in exactly the same way.
So that adds up to thread closed.
Thank you,
