S4 Mini overheat and battery drain after KitKat Update - Galaxy S 4 Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all.
I am a new user of this community.
I am looking for a fix to my troubles.
Two weeks ago I updated my s4 mini to KitKat via OTA.
My Galaxy was TOTALLY officially, no custom rom, no recovery, no root... so i updated in the "classic" way.
From that day my smartphone drains battery really, really, fast and becomes really hot.
I am talking about 50° celsius when i only browse internet or use whatsapp to send message, and in the same time the battery drains fastly.
I rooted the phone, look to wakelock, look to process that could drain it, i made two factory reset, flash via Odin to the Italy Stock 4.4.2 (before it has got the English firmware version), buy a new battery, use different charger, calibrate it by app, calibrate it with the non-root method... but the problem persist.
I have got GPS off, Wifi OFF, NFC Off, S-Beam Off, Bluethoot Off... i only use internet via GSM or UMTS, no LTE.
To browse I use Opera Mini, but it's the same thing with Chrome.
I don't know what to do, i don't think it's an app problem, and it's impossibile that is by hardware, because with Jeally Bean the smartphone goes great.
I am actually trying Coolify after try Battery Doctor and a lot of other apps, like Gsam Battery, Greenify, Battery Calibrate ecc...
I've attacched some screenshot here. How can you see by the battery graph the battery drains like there's not a tomorrow in same time :crying:
ps: sorry for my english, how can you see by the screenshot i am italian.

Mee too I have this problem

You have to root and install recocery on your device. There's a thread arnd here created by Arco for you to find the recovery files. He also provided a kernel for KitKat regarding the wakelocks if im not mistaken. So flash that kernel and like i said, recovery and root is needed.

You may have a faulty firmware installed. Try updating to the latest one with Odin from sammobile.com.

i flash a stock rom android 4.4.2 3 time and the same probleme...so wat kenel i should use me and my friend

Like I said, go to Arco's recovery thread. He provided a 4.4 kernel to fix Stock ROM problem
EDIT: Rite i guess this is sad for all of ya but Arco made the kernel for 4.2.2 stock only. No 4.4. Here's the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=43622999

tnx for your information...which that be soon suported 4.4

Android says me that i've got the 56% of battery at this moment, with about 5 hours to use (only 34 minutes of screen on and GSM only mode)
In the same time 3C Toolbox says that i've spent the 34%. That's mean i've got the 64% of battery.
It could be an Android indicator error?
I tried to calibrate battery using Battery Calibrate, now i will do it with 3C toolbox, maybe it's better.
So, using Coolify i see a little improvement in temperature (never up 45°) and the drains seems go slowly then before.

If its the indicator, then what causes the CPU heating? Battery indicators in all devices are not accurate even after making it "accurate". Like eg, my Galaxy Wonder had 18% battery. After reboot while charging i got 90% and lasted a few hours. But honestly, no heating issues back then.
I still am confident that its a kernel problem. Being a flash-a-holic, i didn't try the 4.4 update then cos of KNOX

Yes, probably the only things to do is flash a new kernel and a new rom.
But i bought only 6 months ago this f***ed Samsung, so I don't wanna loose the warranty (i love my old Galaxy Next, i could flash it how many times i wanted, because there isn't no stupid knox)
I installed the App Opp Xposed Framework, i found that Google Service uses location even if i say him to don't use it, and even if i turn off gps. So I stop him, I even stop the "keep awake" options in his menù.
But in 5-10 minutes i didn't watch any differences in battery life.
So, i risked to put off "keep awake" in "Android System" (because i watched that "android system" keep awake the phone often), and nothing it's happening now. I am charging my phone, then I will try if there's battery improvement (but i don't think)

Same issue here. Got the phone two weeks ago. Sometimes during charging it would heat up to 47C. Also is this normal battery life?
Note: Power saving is on.

Mine got to 49C yesterday at 2am before going to sleep. Literally, when I touch the screen, I feel it burning. I'm on stock ROM. The battery, on the other hand wasn't one of the worst times I had it. It went down drastically from 10%, which isn't bad compared to going down drastically from like 30% like I once had.
It may be a battery problem, and it may be a firmware problem. But I suspect that it's both. I got 2 batteries, and when I have problems with one, I turn to the other, and it's a continuous loop. I guess 4.4.4 will fix some of the problems, hopefully.
The screenshots explain everything.
Peak temperature at 49C. The constant green line (straight line) shows when the phone was off. You can see the temperature going down then.

Its a Samsung problem. People actually told me to steer clear off 4.4 update to get away from problems like this.
You guys should try the S5 ROM here.

Battery; https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.macropinch.pearl

Searching online I found that battery drain is a problem of KitKat 4.4.2, and that S4, S4 mini and Note 3 are the most affected by this problem. The factory reset, that is often suggested is useless. I made it 4 times in the last 2 weeks.
I even change the stock rom, from the UK 4.4.2 to Italy 4.4.2, with no improvement.
The only way is to wait an official update (if Sasmung will update again this phone), or try a Lollipop or 4.4.4 custom rom.
I could say that rooting the phone by Towel Root (knox 0x0 flashing before the old kernel) and using:
- Coolify (with this app running in background in 3 days the phone stay under the 45° celsius)
- App Opp Xposed (deny the access to position to any app and put "Kepp Away" off for a lot of app)
- GserviceFix
- DisableService (to stop some process, like the wereable process on Google Play Service)
And freezing all the useless software pre-installed, i get some little, but important, improvement
At this time I have 50% of battery with around 3 hours from the unplugged and with around an hour to use with display on in gsm mode (no wifi). Before KitKat updated this wasn't good, but if i hadn't root now i would have 35 or less percent

I would be better off with a custom ROM than Offcial Samsung Stock ROM. 4hrs of SOT (without WiFi) just with light browsing, gaming and some video watching
I do understand you guys don't wanna void warranty but I guess its better than buying batteries every month
Anyways, i guess some improvement for this is simply to wait for Samsung's update OR try out greenify. I believe Greenify can hibernate apps that causes the most overheating

For what it's worth I had similar over heating on my i9300 and my current phone i9195. I believe it mostly stems from the screen. The screen in a phone and laptop will be the biggest drain on power, by far, second to none.
Unfortunately, once a battery has experienced regular rapid battery loss from the screen being on too bright and too often, the battery becomes pretty poor at holding charge. And one of those screenshots shows the screen zapping the most... Remember, even if its on charge it's still hitting your battery for power. Now I never let the screen above 45-50% brightness.
If you're running stock and have power saver activated then turn the screen down, and remove as many unnecessary apps as possible. If you're rooted then there's plenty more you can do and my favourites are Droidwall to prevent apps from using your mobile connection and a custom kernel with app to under volt the cpu and gpu, but there's a lot more you might be able to do...

I put the S5 Proyect rom with Brisk Kernel and the problem persist.
It's not possibile was an hardware problem, because in Jeally Bean was everything fine.
But now it's really strange, sometimes the battery drain a lot, but yesterday night with the 10% i use it a lot to whatsapp before to see it shut down automatically. I don't kwow what to do

A battery isn't considered hardware by most as its a consumable; its not expected to last the lifetime of the phone.
Just because it was fine on JB you can't discount the battery cells failing. I assume you went from JB to KK, and not downgrade? If so i believe the screen zapping the battery too much causing the battery to begin failing holds true...ie, 6 months ago it was fine on JB but now its bad. Between then and now the battery has been hammered.

[Q] Rapid Battery Loss & Rebooting Restores Battery?

So, my battery is wack... and I think it's only been acting like this since I went to a KK ROM? Maybe? Feels like it...
I've had this tablet since it was released last fall, and this behavior is very recent.
Anyways, it dies FAST. Like nose dives in a matter of 5-15 minutes. What's even weirder, is that sometimes, if I power cycle the device, it'll jump up by 30-60%. But then just dies again in another 5-15 minutes.
And there's a screenshot after I just power-cycled.
It jumped from 11% to 71%!!
Crazy!
I've also tried letting it get to 5% then charging it to 100%, done that twice. No luck. I don't know if this is related, but if I power it completely off, and plug it in, it turns on... kinda weird. My Note 3 doesn't do that, it just stays off and shows the battery charge indicator.

Hi, I have similar problem and I am with 4.3 android. I have battery loss when I play games. It drops to 2-3% really fast and after reboot it goes up to 35-40%. Once I fully depleted my battery and charge it. This time there were no battery lost. After the second charging problem persists.
If you manage to fixed it please tell us how.

I have a similar problem with my p600. the tablet is new, got it since a month or less.
at first i was amazed of the battery life i use it a lot for work writing documents and sheets on excel, battery used to perfom quite well giving me more than 5 hours of screen on, but recently the battery starts to drop very fast, now i can barely get around 2 hours of screen on.
i've already done 2 cycles of full discharge and then charge it completely with the tablet turned off. but the problem stills.
also sometimes when i reboot the tablet the battery goes from i.e 20% to 40% after the reboot.
im still looking for a fix or solution, today i found a new official firmware for my model (4.4 firmware for telcel mexico). going to wait until the tablet is fully charged and then flash the new firmware. I dont know if its going to help but i got nothing to lose.
by the way, sending it to semsung is not an option because of knox 0x1

Sorry to bump this, has anyone found a solution yet.
I've replaced the battery 3 times in about 9 months, but had this issue about a yr, was sent back to Samsung who changed the battery and supposedly updated the fw 4.4.2, I have since replaced the battery another 3 times every 3 months, each time either factory resetting or flashing a new rom, currently on official Smp600 5.1.1 BTU rom, today my battery was on 47%, I plugged in charger and was watching/streaming a movie on it, about 80 minutes later the tablet shut off, which was odd it's never powered off while on charge, powered it back on and battery said 19%, my previous issues has been the same as others, it can be on 100%, play a game, or stream a movie,or watch youtube etc and it will nosedive dramatically 20/30% at a time, sometimes within 10 mins it's gone from 100% to less than 30%, it's clear there's some sort of issue if others have it, I was wondering if a thread should be made to list ppl with this issue to see how many there are and go from there.

I've been having the same issue for some time now. Calibrating the battery does help, I don't experience the problem nearly as much after calibrating it. But it'll still nosedive on occasion, maybe once a week. This is the app I use to calibrate it https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nema.batterycalibration

advice on abnormal battery drain

I will start out by saying I have ALMOST tried every trick or hack or mod software related to attempt and resolve this issue.
I will let the screenshots speak for themselves.
I am starting to think there is something physically wrong with this device which is odd because when I opened it up to take the plastic cover off to expose the boards I found no evidence of any liquid intrusion at all.
Only one of the pictures is from a different charge cycle maybe a day or two after the others.
To be specific I am trying to eliminate deep sleep battery drain as much as possible. my htc one x does not drain anywhere near what this galaxy s3 does even though everything is disabled. I've tried different rom / kernel / settings / screen / leds / sync / etc.
Wondering if someone might notice something I've missed here.
thanks!

It could be app updates. There was an update to Google drive just a couple days ago and that night after I updated it my battery died overnight when it was nearly fully charged. I cleared the app cache and data and the phone is back to normal. I've seen this happen with a few app updates lately.
Hope this helps.
It could be, and quite possibly is something like what jack man said above. But it could also have to do with the battery itself getting old. Many of these devices have been running for over 2 years now, and the batteries do go bad.
If you really think its a hardware issue though, the only way to know for sure is to flash stock firmware via Odin, factory reset with stock recovery (wipes ALL your apos and data), then test it out over a couple of full cycles without restoring any old data. If you are running anything custom, or restoring backup data, you have way to many "unknowns" to make a call on whether or not it has anything to do with hardware.
BBS is great, but unless you use and post its logs (including kernel wakelocks), it won't really tell you much more than you already know and the logs are much more helpful to us than screenshots.
Mine started doing that a couple weeks ago, for like two days the battery drained like crazy even though it was deep sleeping fine with no wake locks, 16% loss per hour ... I replaced the usb cable I was using to charge it, as it was going bad to where you couldn't touch the phone without hearing the connect/disconnect sounds cycling rapidly, bought a ventev 2.1 amp charger to replace the 0.8 I was using, and did a battery recalibration, now all is well, draining less than 1% per hour with screen off, averaging 1.5% during the day with occasional usage. And that's with the stock battery that's been in it for 18mos.

brand new OEM battery from amazon.com - I got the phone stock w/ original battery and noticed the drain issue, first thing I did was order a new battery and flashed CM11 to see what would happen.
drain exists all across the board with this one.
I've also tried different chargers and cables, and even the charging dock on my radio.
what re-calibration method did you use?
I let it run dead till it shut itself off, charged to full while powered off, booted back up and wiped the batterystats.bin, then let it drain all the way again before going back to normal charging cycles.

What is the date on the new oem battery? There are still places with "new" batteries that were actually manufactured 2 years ago. Leaving them shelved for that long they can still go bad. Probably not the caes but figured id mention it anyway.
I will check on that date. I bought an oem samsung charger from bestbuy last night to do a full charge with the phone off. I let it drain down to about 40% from idling and light usage. I've read of people getting better life after using an official charger after several charge cycles.
Ive heard that too. Definitely worth a try, though Ive always thought what matters is the output be the same, but I could be wrong. Never really looked into it.
While trying the new charger for a few cycles you should also set BBS to start monitoring and logging your wakelocks. (Dont forget to tell it to include kernel wakelocks)
This way if you are still having problems youll already have the logs we would end up asking for anyway.
will it save the logs if the phone auto shuts off due to low battery?
I think it should
looks like the logs reset because I have to plug in the phone to get it to boot back up.
either way, the new samsung brand charger doesn't make a bit of difference in terms of battery life, but it does charge the phone a hell of a lot faster haha!
I even did an advance wipe in twrp so I was left with just recovery and download mode so I sideloaded yesterday's CM11 nightly and left it bare with no gapps. also flashed BMS kernel through sideload.
turned everything off (location/wifi) put in airplane mode, and still loosing about 8% an hour with no suspicious wakelocks or "alarms".
what is the difference between the two?

I'm having the same issue.. Pain in the ass.
I've factory reset, clear cache then flashed with Odin the stock 4.4.2 firmwares for Bell, Rogers and Telus, all have the same drain. When I add my google account I get Google play service keep awake issues.
Phone doesn't last 1/2 a day. From 100% it drops about 10%/hour when in airplane mode and 15%/hour is play service is enabled.
I'm blown away by this. The battery isn't the issue, I pulled it and swapped with a known good s3, the drain did not occur on the other s3.
I'd love to get this resolved.. If I can't, on to ebay it goes.
Yeah I'm with you on the eBay thing. At&t maxes trade in at 55 bucks in mint condition. I have to recoup the cost of this new battery from amazon !

Try ininstalling updates for google play services. I know ive seen it reported before, i just cant recall if that was the fix. I knoe it was simple though.

Can you get logs of this situation? In your previous case you had an apparent problem with Google Play Services where it would wake your phone up to 32 times per hour. That said, if you still get battery drain like that, after full wipe w/o anything waking your phone up or any wakelock then something is definitely wrong with either your battery or your device.

No BBS = no troubleshooting. From your screenshots one can see you have something keeping your phone awake, but we can't guess what it is.

Horrible battery life on newish S4 Mini ("best" performance <3h)

Hey guys,
after dropping my beloved Nexus 4 to the concrete floor in May, I bought a new S4 mini in the electronic market because of it's decent size and all the fuzz about having a very good price-performance-ratio.
After a few weeks I already was fairly disappointed.
On an average work day (without WiFi) and little use (~30min OSD) the battery wouldn't last a full day. I tried the usual things like turning off GPS, bluetooth and using Wifi whenever possible (turning it off, when not in range), etc. I also used the App greenify which boosted my deepsleep in Wakelock Detector to stable 85+%.
When using GMaps/navigation my phone is getting hot (~50°C) and battery is drained within minutes. When trying to navigate out of the city (<15min navigation) one day my phone was discharged within 3 hours after a full charge. I got Wakelock Detector, Better Battery Stats and Battery Monitor Widget installed.
The only thing I found out, that when I am connected to Wifi the drain is a lot lower 1-2%/hour compared to when I am using 3G/H+ which results in 7-15%/hour (both when not using the phone), although there is no problem with signal quality. Recently my phone started to bottoming out rly hard when hitting the 20% mark. From there I can watch the battery dropping to 0% within a few minutes.
Things I tried so far:
- turning off features that are not in use (GPS, bluetooth, Wifi when not in range)
- make sure phone gets into deep sleep/greenify apps
- recalibrate akku
- reduce brightness & disable auto-brightness
Setup:
GT-I9195 bought in May 2015 from electronic market chain
CM 12.1 (Android 5.1.1, serranoltexx)
Standard CM Kernel
Baseband I9195XXUBML4
I can provide Screenshots from BMW, WD and BBS. Any ideas how to solve this or what else I could do?
Probably you should use something like better battery stats, to check
- if a service is going mad, then turn it off with disable service to test (most times happens with unclean flash)
- if you have an app with wakelocks
If you can't find anything that way, might be a hardware fault.
Personally if I came across this problem I would return the phone to stock Android and do some tests, see if the same happens again. CM12.1 can have issues across different same model phones. Try the Samsung Phone Info app to see how old your phone is. I'm guessing it was second hand? Some older revisions of the Mini had battery problems. Maybe a new battery is needed? Maybe.. As for the battery draining 20%-0% in minutes I have also suffered this on a brand new March 2015 device. Not all the time though it only happens with randomly once a week. But I put that down to the battery not been fully calibrated and then drained and recharged over the next 3 4 days, as I use a spare battery and swap out the batteries regularly which means my battery is very rarely calibrated.
All that said though I can easily get through an entire day if not 2. And using stock I'm able to get 4 and a half hours on average every time, maybe 4 hours of screen on time when using 3G a lot and GPS etc.

I have had the same problem as you.
I return twice my phone to vendor. But they could do anything.
I solved it with undervolting and underclocking my phone (only the low frequency).
I read from someone, you can undervolting 150 millivolt.
My experience, is undervolting 125 milivolt. and underclocking the low frequency at the minimum.
You didn't feel any difference, behalves that the phone is cooler and battery live is better.
My WiFi and Bluetooth are always on. I don't have to recharge my phone during the day.
It is so effective en transparent that I don't understand why Samsung didn't do it natively.
Hey,
I tried to apply some of your advice and flashed the newest stock rom for S4 Mini (Kitkat ...COE4).
In that process I recognized that the Baseband is not updated by CM and that the one that was installed when I bought it was fairly old (from 2013). Do you think that this might be part of the problem? (I sort of hate the Samsung Rom)
This week when working and not having Wifi all day, I managed to get 2h of SOT and still had around 25% left which I couldnt have gotten before imo. I only lose 1-4% per hour when the phone is not used. But still thats not pretty good, when ur saying you can get 4h with GPS and everything. I also didnt use GPS. And today when I restarted my phone it just went from 40-ish % to 15% without any reason. Any more ideas?
I installed BetterBatteryStats today and will try to give some more insight the next days. Wakelock detector said that I had 85% deep sleep (timeframe 1 day 2 hours).

No I bought it new from a electronic store (Media Markt). The app says that is was made on Oct 19th 2014 in Vietnam and that it is original/not refurbished.
How much do you gain by undervolting (SOT or % per hour when idle)?
How do you do it?
maybe the best way is to downgrade by flashing CM11 for example ...
(another way with stock + Alexax kernel + own debloat&freeze ... )
I have the same consumption problem with Resurection Remix LP too ..... very strange !
Lollipop is supposed to be less angry than Android 4.X.X ... but it seem have problem somewhere for our S4-mini sources maybe ,i don't know ...
This night I did some BBS tests:
Setup:
Stock Rom I previously installed (see posts above)
charged phone during evening
set up custom timepoint before I went to sleep
WLAN disabled
all apps greenyfied except those I deemed significant that they keep running (Whatsapp, calendar, Swiftkey, BBS, BMW, etc). Forgot newly installed app hoomn.
I had to upload the logfile to pastebin because it was too long for the xda forum: pastebin.ca/3256568 (I am not allowed to post URLs, sorry)
I lost 14% of battery during 9hrs (-1,6%/h). That's probably not too bad?
93% deep sleep, 33min awake time
Weird things I discovered/things I did not understand:
- negative Voltage loss?
- Wifi runtime 100% although I disabled it
- dominant wakelocks (count > 100, all of them < 30s): Alarm Manager, RILJ1, *net_scheduler*, GCM_CONN, ContextManagerWakeLock, Event Log Service, AlarmManager (com.sec.spp.push.Samsung Push Service), SyncLoopWakeLock, GCM_HB_ALARM
- dominant KWLs (count > 100): ril-fd (25min), bam_dmux_wakelock (13min), radio-interface (7min), PowerManagerService.WakeLocks (3min), mmc1_detect (1min), alarm_rtc, alarm, sec-charger-monitor, smdcntl0, pm8921_soc_lock, power-supply, KeyEvents, smsm_snapshot, qmuxd_port_wl_0, qmuxd_port_wl_1, smdcntl1, mmc0_detect
- Alarms (>20): ccc71.bmw (Battery Monitor Widget), android, com.google.android.gms, com.sec.spp.push
any ideas/assessments?

Lineage OS battery drain

Hi!
I've been running Lineage OS for about a week now and I'm experiencing poor battery life. I get around 2 hours of screen-on-time and I'm not doing anything demanding other than browsing and social networking and I have the settings on Efficient in the power menu. I feel like stock was a good 50% better on battery life than LOS.
I also noticed that LineageOS System, Android OS and the Phone Idle processes eat up around 30% of the battery.
I didn't install any battery draining apps and I'm running the latest version of everything.
I tried reseting app preferences but it didn't help.
I also want to note that standby time is amazing. If I don't use the device the battery level stays the same while it's sleeping. When I wake it, it loses 2-3% immediately though. It seems that it only loses battery quickly when the screen is on.
Can someone please help? Is this normal battery life on LOS?

if you want more battery life you can use Greenify or something like that. It is stopping the background apps. This is a alternative way. Hope you find your solution

Ah ok have a good career w/ android.. bye
Hey.
I'm using the latest LineageOS same as you, on my LG G2 D802 32GB and having the same issue as you. If I leave my phone on table for a night, it usually drains 1 or 2%, but if I start using facebook or facebook messenger, or just browsing the system settigs, or just ANYTHING, the battery percentage suddenly starts to count down, like 1% every minute or so.
So i've tried stock LineageOS kernel and Lambda kernel aswell (most advanced, latest kernel for G2 atm), rooting and using Greenify, turning everything down to minimal, underclocking GPU and CPU frequencies, changing govenors, battery saving modes on, screenbrightness to minimal without adaptive, everything syncing off, bluetooth, gps, and wifi is usually off, but nothing really helped and it's been buggering me for a week. Compared to the Stock 4.4.2 or 5.0.2, the battery is half as good. Also, I've been reading posts and I've noticed that not everybody have this issue, because some people experience really good battery - or they just say that -, on the same phone modell. I've been thinking about reverting back to stock because of that, but I havent given custom roms like (crDroid or AICP, I'm torn between those two) a shot, but that not relevant to you because G3.
If I find a solution I'll let you know.
LineageOS doesn't have any battery draining bugs for me currently. Have you installed a custom kernel?
G3 D855 user here. Can confirm the same issue, with all nightlies I have used so far. Standby is OK, but it still drains faster than stock. When I use the phone though, that's when it begins to go down waaay too fast. One percent per minute or two tops, certainly at least 2x faster rate. Tried to solve it in many different ways, so far to no avail. Asked some people with D855 and lineage too and they had no issue. It's a mystery to me (btw I bought a new battery just recently)
Second that, same D855 with latest baseband 21C, i encounter same bizarre battery drain..

I'm glad I'm not alone then!
Same problem as everyone else.
Overnight lose only 1% per hour but using the phone it drains extremely quickly.
Look at this crazy battery history:
I've never had this issue on my other devices running CyanogenMod in the past.
Has anyone tracked this issue down to something in particular?
Phew, its not just me. Stock LOS nightlies, pick any... same issue as described by everyone above.
D855/32Gb etc and can not shake it. Wakelocks are all good, as meant to be, just screen on seems to destroy the battery. Have screen on adaptive brightness with around 50% brightness on slider in the first place.
Something is not quite right. Love every other aspect of LOS apart from the battery drainage.
I've got the issue too. I don'y know why but it starts to drain the battery quite fast during the usage of the phone. Any help will be appreciated.
I don't see an open bug unless anyone else has seen one:
https://jira.lineageos.org/browse/BUGBASH-167?jql=text ~ "G3"
https://jira.lineageos.org/browse/BUGBASH-17?jql=text ~ "D855"
There's also this bug:
https://jira.lineageos.org/browse/BUGBASH-364?jql=text ~ "battery"
which is similar to what happens to me, i.e. get to 30% and then suddenly shutdown.
I think this is the bug:
https://jira.lineageos.org/browse/REGRESSION-372
Clear caches!
I was having this issue, with Lineage OS as well as some others i tried based off CM. I would get better than stock battery life for a few weeks, then suddenly the battery would start draining in a few hours.
Booting to recovery and clearing all caches fixed this issue for me.

This is a hardware issue with the battery, not a software one. You need to replace your battery with an official one from a reputable source (careful, there are quite a lot of fakes around, so don't be tempted by saving a dollar).

I had already tried this but no luck.
Could you please check your battery stats?
Does the percentage used equal the total of the individual apps?
In my case, it never does, e.g. 15% usage but only 3% used by apps.

Same for me - the numbers never add up. When this occours, I can watch the battery go from fully charged to 30% in an hour or two, but the battery usage meter doesn't show anything like that kind of usage.
I'd post a screenshot, but I've just taken my phone off charge and have no data as yet. I'll post one tonight - but since clearing the caches, mine is behaving at the moment, although I'm not getting the same all-day battery I was 6 weeks ago.
Same here
Also experiencing this issue on my 6P. Lineage OS system consumes the largest portion of my battery and I usually only get 1hr 50 minutes max of screen time. The phone also seems to die at minimum of 24 percent. Just shuts off. I no longer think this is a hardware issue either as other people seem to be experiencing this. (On a somewhat unrelated note, I also can't flash SuperSU in TWRP without it going into a LOS bootloop)

[HELP] LG G4 battery percentage jumps

Title. H810 no root.
I'm aware the battery life on this one is not really good. That in mind.
-Example, (nothing running on background, everything but wifi off) using it normally until 14%. Pushed sleep button.
-Turn screen on like 5 mins after and it was 15%, used it a bit then again screen off.
-Turned screen on about 6 minutes later and it was 5%.
-Drained it to supposedly 1% then phone turned itself off.
-Turned phone on again and it was 2% and stayed like that for 10 mins while scrolling twitter with 30% brightness, until it turned itself off again and this time battery is to low to turn on.
Tried factory reset, draining till absolute 0% then 100% multiple times but so far nothing works.
Battery's health is good and factory original, no water, no heavy drops.
Let's say i root it (as far as i know its possible in all models), question:
Is there a way to push battery stats to make battery readings accurate?
Or what do you suggest? thanks.

Hi,
What you have is normal.
My owen device jumps frpn 12% to 15% after heavy and log use, thats normal, cause battery is cooling down/pre-ucomputed Energy is not consumed and Battery is calculated new.
The other Jump from 15 to 5 thats somthing you should watch closer. did that happen often?
all in all I have a sugestion but answer this first.
How old is Battery and usage time? (heavy or Soft? SOT? and so one)
Battery readings denpend on the Kernel. You are Stock i think?
Titan Kernel gave me awesome Display Sdreen on Times but battery is jumping too.

Thanks for replying!
Well thats one solved, it wasnt a sudden jump but rather a few minutes discharge doing nothing at all.
Battery is as old as the phone, 2015 and usage, i dont know for sure since it's an import US carrier phone sold to me locally, seems like it was a test phone like the ones you can try at stores. I would say battery use isnt any different than it would be in a daily usage and even if not, would be very rare for a li-ion battery to degrade in such a small amount of time. Gonna ask the seller.
Another thing i notice is very fast battery drain while playing music. I listen to music from home to work, like a 1 hour trip and when i got of home with 81% when i get to my job im at 68%.
And yeah stock everything with android 6.0, as i said currently not even rooted.

Sounds as if the Battery has some Altered Issues. How Often do you charge?
with Music You meen Mp3 or stream? (stream drain battery much faster)
Try custom Rom and titan kernel if u dont need stock services, otherwise rootand use greenify or other.
on Stock i Had SoT of 2 hours max. now i am back to 3 Hoeurs (i´m heavy user some days...)

Already using greenify. Charging 2 times a day, 1 before going to work, 1 when i come back, plugged while using it.

Greenify is much better with Root
first you must unlock your Bootloader.
there are 2 Otions at the moment. Official (don´t know if possible for H810) and USU by @steadfasterX
for second:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/unlock-unlock-lg-g4-device-usu-t3760451
read and choose for yourself if that is what you want
Just by a new battery. Original battery can be found for about 8$ at least here in Sweden..
I believe this is normal.
My H815 had it with both the original and a new battery. It used to be really bad when you charged it to 100%, restarted and it would drop immediately to 80%.
Also, especially on stock LG stuff (the graph on custom ROMs seems to be smoothed out), the battery graph was a mess of random spikes and dips
