Hey I have had a HTC One M8 for a while now I managed to root and get s-off and such then recently I wanted to try out GPE however I prefer the cleanROM that I had installed before yet when ever I ry to flash anything even if I wipe my data I get this any help is appreciated
Image (as I am a new form member (although I do read a lot of stuff on here just never made an account) I am unable to post links)

Edit: I also tried to repair the memory from in twrp and this also failed for the same reasons:/
Edit2: the problem is definitely mounting /data as I tried to manually mount it and there was no look if anyone has any ideas how to fix this it would be greatly appreciated

what do you mean by "try GPE" ? did you flash a ruu or rom ? what is your current firmware version ?
do you have a verizon model ? as cleanROM seems to be a verizon specific ROM, you'll need to have latest verizon firm.
if you converted to gpe using RUU, you need to follow this thread and adapt with verizon firm. Or find a verizon RUU (complete wipe incl. int. mem.)

Hi I've been searching for days and have always been able to find answers but this one has got me.
My gf has a HTC Desire HD, pretty sure it's Vodafone since she works there. Tried to do a normal update a while ago and it never started since, just sits on the HTC logo. I can boot into fastboot hboot recovery and all that but I'm stuck as to what to do from here.
I have found a couple of WWE RUU's but the error out with a CID error, I've also found a Vodafone backup someone took from clockwork but this phone only has stock recovery and I don't know how to flash clockwork without being able to boot the phone.
Hoping someone might have an easy answer, please let me know if I need to provide more details.
Thanks.
If its rooted just place a rom on the sd and flash it with full wipe. You are not suppose to accept OTA updates if the phone is rooted if Im not mistaken. If not rooted then go to HTC websight and get the official RUU and install, instructions should be on websight.

Get me the CID and Iwill provide u with a ruu that works...VODAFONE from where? not all ruu's are available, but at least we can find one that makes your phone back to work...:good:
Unfortuanately it isn't rooted, I probably would've had more luck by now if it was.
I can't see the CID on the bootloader is there a command on fastboot or something to find this? I've been searching but can't find anything.
Sorry I thought of that afterwards, it's Vodafone Australia.
Thanks for the replies guys!
I just tried that European RUU thought I didn't have anything to loose but it came back with ERROR 132 Signature Error.
The Australian HTC site doesn't have a RUU to download that I can see.

yep, do the following: boot in hboot and choose fastboot. Then plug the phone (check that you see fastboot usb in red)
Open cmd as admin or a terminal as root and then, type fastboot getvar all. Get the INFOcidnum and paste it here. With that I will try to find a ruu that works. But stop trying flashing other things...you might mess the device.
Hi
Thanks again for the help. The cidnum: VODAP021
Hope this helps, I haven't checked out those other links yet though.

Ok, I will look for a RUU (to see if I can get one that works, and will send it over a PM)...
No post it here in case someone else has the same problem so he too can get the file.

Solution!!
Ok firstly sorry it's taken me ages to post this but I finally came up with a solution to this problem using a few different guides and instructions on these forums.
So the problem was I had a Vodafone AU branded HTC Desire HD that had no root and a locked bootloader that was stuck in a bootloop after a failed official update. The main problem is that there is NO stock recovery ROM ANYWHERE for a Vodafone AU HTC Desire HD, trust me I looked and I am not new to looking for stuff like this. glevitan provided me with a WW ROM that I managed to get working with a bit of work, there are also many WW ROM's around that you should also be able to use. I'll try to explain as best I can as to how I got it to work (going from memory) so if anyone else has a similar problem they may be able to use this information.
1. Firstly find a suitable WW ROM to flash, it needs to be a PD98IMG.zip image to copy to an SD card. There is a Vodafone AU dump on this forum but that will not work if you are completely stock standard. I think you can get this zip from the RUU or maybe ask glevitan if he wouldn't mind helping in providing this again. I didn't want to link to his file but there are others around.
2. Create a goldcard. If you turn your SD card into a goldcard it will allow any ROM to be flashed, normally it would only accept the Vodafone AU one but by doing this it will accept the WW one. To do this I used a second phone to create the card.
I used the Ultimate multi tool which can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1180639
You may have to do a bit of reading on getting it to work, from memory you have to put in a number to a website to generate a file, I think I ended up using a different website, there's a few options in getting this done, google is your friend for this
3. Once the goldcard is created copy the PD98IMG.zip to the root directory and put it back into the phone.
4. Turn on the phone and boot to hboot by holding vol up (I think) on power on. The phone should automatically check for a suitable PD98IMG.zip file and as long as the goldcard process worked and you have a suitable ROM on the root directory it should flash it fine.
This is basically what I did and it successfully booted after a lot of looking around. I hope this helps people in the future with similar problems. If you need to ask any questions about this process as I haven't provided every single detail please feel free to contact me and I will do my best to help you out.
Thanks again to glevitan for helping and providing a suitable ROM to flash.
Hey guys.
First off I'll start with a backstory to get people up to speed. I own an original Moto Droid, then moved to a Moto Droid Razr and now I'm on my first HTC...the One. I've succesfully rooted and flashed many ROMs and firmware just fine. I'm pretty resourceful when it comes to finding information online. I'm familiar with Fastboot and simple ADB. Also I am familiar with TWRP and CWM.
So here's my situation. I went to reflash a new ROM to try out and I accidentally used TWRP to "Format" and ended up formatting my entire phone. My obvious problem is that I don't have a ROM installed nor do I have a .zip on my phone to flash. I can boot to the bootloader just fine and also recovery.
So to summarize, I'm trying to push a ROM file to my phone in order to flash it. The problem lies in the fact that I cannot get ADB to recognize the phone. I cannot use ADB to push a file since it errors with "Device not found" and I've tried using CWM to mount anything and no luck seeing the device. Also I've tried TWRP sideload and that just hangs at starting the sideload feature. I've tried reflashing recoveries and no luck getting it to see the device. Also, when using CWM there is no option to mount/unmount /SDCARD.
I know there are plenty of threads with this same(ish) problem, but it seems like a jumble of information and a lot of them are from different models or different carriers and I just can't seem to find the definitive answer for this exact situation. I just need a little bit of a push in the right direction to get this moving again.
Thank you guys a ton in advance for the help. This has been a great community to me, even if I never actually signed up and posted anything.
My info:
Verizon HTC One
From bootloader:
*Unlocked*
M7_WLV PVT S-OFF
CID-11111111 <---SuperCID changed
HBOOT - 1.54.0000
RADIO - 1.12.42.0906
OS - 1.10.605.10
ADB and Fastboot:
Installed using lite installer
ADB - 1.0.31
I believe you can flash in ruu mode just have to find that ruu in the forum. I hope this leads you to a fix

Thanks for the response.
I was actually thinking that would be my next option. One problem, I can't find a verizon RUU. I keep finding dead links to download one.
Problem solved.
Flashed verizon RUU to the phone and all is well. Had to do some serious digging to find that file.
Yeah, I wiped my OS also but could not get adb or fastboot to reconize my phone. Still had recovery so got the Meenova sd card reader, put my rom on the sd card and flashed it. Great little tool. Nice to have external storage also.

Glad you got it man!
but really?
typing RUU in the search box is considered digging?
the RUU is quite easy to find

Appreciate the prompt reply. I've taken a look and the roms maybe listed but I have no Idea where to start with regard to flashing any image. Is there a guide to how to do this. Thanks
What have you flashed and what is the phone doing?
Also, what carrier is your phone from?
Are you S-OFF?
Thanks for the replies guys. I have been trying to root the device using the dev tool kit. I did something , not sure what and I couldn't boot into recovery or android. Since then I have managed to get into recovery and android will boot but most of my apps are not working and looks like corruption somewhere has occurred which is why I need to basically go back to stock on everything.
My device shows s-on but detailing tamper warning s etc.
Any help is appreciated.
Cheers
Sorry carrier is EE
Thanks

You won't be able to flash firmware with S-ON Though I doubt you would need to flash any firmware files anyway. Are you using a custom recovery? Philz TWRP or whatevs?
Did you not make a nandroid?
If not, your best bet is to either flash a custom rom or download one of the nandroids from This thread. There's a good chance the one for your carrier is there. Check your CID and match it up to one of the nandroid's there or request a nandroid for you don't see it listed but really want stock.
to check cid boot to bootloader/fastboot mode and use:
fastboot oem readcid
or
fastboot getvar cid
If you wouldn't mind telling me what your CID is, I would really like to know so I can match CIDs to carriers to better help people in the future.
Then you can just copy the nandroid to the proper location and restore it in the custom recovery.
Hey thanks for the assistance here guys, my CID is below
cidnum: ORANG001
Looks like there is one to use on that site which is great. Does anyone know how to get what stock recovery image I am using or should be using so that I can download this also?
thanks
also, when in bootloader it shows tampered and relocked, will flashing the recovery and stock firmware removes these marks?
thanks

Hey guys has anyone got any info on my question? Really want to get my phone back to stock. Having alsorts of problems.
I've managed to get the os back on and the clockwork recovery however I keep getting issues with apps being installed on sd card not being read and all my pictures that were on there seem to have gone also.
Cheers
No it won't. The only way to remove those is with S-off and spoofing them. There are a few guides about it in the general forum section. As for stock recovery, I'm not sure what recovery versions match up with what carriers.. If you can obtain an ota zip file for your carrier you can extract the recovery.img from it.

Ok thanks for the info. It makes sense although the issues I'm seeing are very odd.
Looks like any app installed on my sd card now shows as not installed and pics taken today that were also stored on the sd card have gone. Not sure what's going on...
Thanks again
Hi
So I rooted my HTC one m8 that I got in the UK on 3 mobile and I decided it was a bad decision because I cant use certain apps any more and I cant get OTA updates either.
I tried getting a stock recovery for my CID (h3g__001) and it replaced my twrp so I could at least update my phone but I couldn't find my build number on the xda thread that had the links for the stock recoveries and since I didn't think that mattered too much I just picked the one that worked (I'm new to all of this sorry) and now when I try to update my phone it works up to about 25% and then I get a phone with a little red triangle and red "!".
I also cant get rid of my root access which is stopping me from using apps (like rbs) so its becoming a problem.
I don't mind resting my phone or loosing root access I have my apps and stuff backed up on an .adb file that I made pre root.
All I want it to unroot my htc on m8 completely so I can update it and use any app I need to. I have looked on line and everyone says different things like I need an ruu file for my phone or I need to download certain programs etc but really this is the only place I'm sure that people actually know what they're talking about.
Thanks in advanced and sorry if this was already answered in another thread I couldn't find anything
CID: H3G__001
build: 3.32.771.10
if you need any more info please ask and ill try and find it.
why dont you just flashed a stock rom or do a recovery that you SHOULD have made before you flash a custom rom.

Hi folks,
I bought a stock German Vodafone HTC M9 on Android 5.1 with software 2.10.410.1 HTC sense 7.0 and everything had been going fine until Friday, my battery died and when I plugged it back in it looks like it tried to update to Marshmallow, it looks like that failed but my main problem is that now I have no navigation softkeys, it looks like HTC sense isn't loading up as I have no themes either. I tried an OTA update (fails on the "System partition has unexpected contents" issue). Since that happened I've tried a soft reset, hard reset, install an RUU.exe ( get correct rom update utility, Error 131), so far no joy. I was considering installing TWRP and trying to go back to a stock recovery (I was talking to HTC support and they want me to send my phone to a repair centre, I'd prefer to try fix it myself). My question is, would reverting to a stock recovery even bring back my softkeys or am I barking up the wrong tree? I have unlocked the bootloader now and I will probably end up S-off and playing around with custom ROMs in future but for now I just want my phone to work, it's been a weekend and I'm getting phone withdrawals. I'm in work now so just browsing the forums and seeing what other people are doing but nobody seems to have the same softkey issue as me?
Jamie
Fixed!!!!
Great success! Just in case anyone comes looking for solutions to problems similar to mine and wants to revert to stock firmware without S-OFF and finds an empty thread here's what I did ....
The way I went about it you'll need a micro SD (larger than 4GB I think, no maximum size according to Flippys instructions)
I followed this guide from KingInTheNorth up until the point where I had TWRP installed, this guide will get you through downloading files, tools and drivers unlocking bootloader and flashing TWRP. I DID NOT install SU as I didn't want to root my phone just restore it to stock so I could upgrade to Marshmallow through HTCs OTA update that originally broke my phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-m9/general/guide-root-install-twrp-htc-one-m9-t3061133
I followed Flippy498s guide to getting back to stock recovery (under the TWRP backups tab), this sheet also lets you download stock recoverys to match your firmware because Flippy seems to be a legend.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/15K6xhb6wtosp9j8yu4xHBZ6n9v5OaFSW6ZVWxC4u_qc/pubhtml#
Team Win the folks who make TWRP make a fantastic tool, I started out trying to fix my broken phone and finished out wanting to try new ROMS and playing around to see what else I can do, at least now I have some idea where to start!
Have fun!
Jamie
