Original Appstore APK for German Fire TV? - Fire TV Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I've got a Problem with my Fire TV Appstore.
Don't ask me why, but i've tried to install the normal Appstore APK for Smartphones and now i couldn't use it anymore. It shutdown after a short time, and it's not possible to start Apps frome the Home Screen.
I've searched for the original Appstore Apk for Fire TV, but couldn't find it.
Please, can anyone tell me where to get these?
I'm on unrooted 51.1.4.1_user_524015320.

I can not try yet on my own but you could download the original image:
http://www.aftvnews.com/software/
rename it to ZIP and unzip it. Now look into the /system/apps folder for the appropriate APK.

[GUIDE] Install Full Android Market on Kindle Fire (Compilation Master Thread)

Ok, there are several threads alluding to installing the Android Market on your Kindle Fire, and this Guide will bring them all together for the EASIEST and MOST Successful process. Credit given to authors or other guides.
Android Market on Kindle Fire
Itching for a broader expanse of app selection on your rooted Kindle Fire? It is possible to install the Android Market, furthering your journey on the path of turning the Fire into a full fledged Android Tablet. Follow the tutorial.
Warning: NOT for the faint of heart.
As with any modification to system files, there is a chance you could cause damage to your device. Use at your own risk.
Prerequisites
Root your Kindle Fire
Download the following apks
GoogleServicesFramework.apk
Vending.apk (Latest Version 3.3.11)
See HERE for .apk downloads (complete GApps zip file)
Root Explorer App (or similar that lets you change ro/rw permissions)
Side Loading Apps activated on Kindle Fire
On the Kindle Fire Settings screen, go to “Device” and turn On “Allow Installation of Application From Unknown Sources”
Instructions
1. Transfer the .apk files to your Kindle Fire via PC / Mac (remember where you put them)
2. Open Root Explorer App, and navigate to the transferred .apk files
3. Select the GoogleServiceFramework.apk and install
4. When complete, click "Done" and return to the file location for Vending.apk
5. Long-press Vending.apk and select the "Move" option on pop-up menu
Navigate to /system/app folder
6. Change mount option from RO to RW (read-only to read-write)
Paste Vending.apk into the /system/app folder
7. Long-press Vending.apk and select "Permissions" from pop-up menu
Change permissions to match all other apps in this folder (rw-r--r--)
8. Install Vending.apk
9. Reboot your Kindle Fire
Once reboot is complete, select Market App and log-in as usual.
Enjoy!
You will most likely notice some familiar apps missing from the market, as this device is lacking certain hardware specifications. However, once custom ROMs start appearing for the Kindle Fire, it is a safe bet it will no longer be the case.
Also, the Market App will not show up in the default Amazon Launcher.
You will need to install an alternate launcher (ie Go Launcher EX, ADW).
Find instructions HERE.
For another option than installing an alternate option, check out this work around also!

Thank you! This works!
One thing I would add to your instructions before 8. Reboot is to install Market.
After installing the Android Market, will it still work if I unroot the Kindle Fire?

I imagine so, however I haven't tested it. Worst case scenario, you un-root...it doesn't work, then root again.
Let me know how it works out!
I hate to seem dumb, but where is Vending.apk? It's not in the gapps RAR file.
Every time I try to install the googleservicesframework.apk I get "Application Not Installed" any ideas?

Yes.
I rooted, installed Market and Calendar, then unrooted so I could use the video streaming. Market still works.
New market apk from tonight that includes google music store attached - can confirm it working following the same directions, at least for me.
ok having a problem, root explorer wont mount /system/app as R/W so I cant copy the vending.apk. any suggestions?
I don't think vending.apk is necessary. I didn't copy that over, and everything worked fine.
When I did copy it over, stuff started bugging out (instant video lagging (after unrooting), access to Amazon app store denied), so went back to deleting that file.
Are we not able to purchase apps through the google market once it installed?
I can download free stuff, but when I try to get a commercial app, it shows an error about not being able to purchase
I ran into this with movies in the market - but i can buy apps just fine - just tested.

One question, have you followed the steps?
"Prerequisites
Root your Kindle Fire"
before using Root Explorer?
Because if you've rooted it, then in root explorer, at the top should be a Mount R/w button you just press.
I AM rooted. I get the rw option and can actually change *some* directories to rw, but it won't allow me to change /system/apps. I have tried with terminal emulator as well, but get denied. WTF is going on?!?
I have superuser permissions set on root explorer and can write to most directories...
Help!

Problems with kindle fire
Can you please help with kindle fire?
I did root it,then after that i did follow the step 1. Transfer the .apk files to your Kindle Fire via PC / Mac (remember where you put them)
2. Open Root Explorer App, and navigate to the transferred .apk files
3. Select the GoogleServiceFramework.apk and install
and then really it doesnt make sense all is written after that???
4. When complete, click "Done" and return to the file location for Vending.apk
5. Long-press Vending.apk and select the "Move" option on pop-up menu
Navigate to /system/app folder ( where is the move option on kindle fire? i triple check and doesnt exist)
6. Change mount option from RO to RW (read-only to read-write)
Paste Vending.apk into the /system/app folder
7. Long-press Vending.apk and select "Permissions" from pop-up menu
Change permissions to match all other apps in this folder (rw-r--r--)
8. Install Vending.apk
9. Reboot your Kindle Fire
I am stuck with the instructions please help.
Plus when i install the market after the framework i cant sign in on the market,no conection it says
To the above and anyone else having problems changing permissions with Root Explorer (I did, the button change to R/W did nothing at times) then try Super Manager, did the trick for me. Strangely once SM has changed permissions once in a session you can generally go back with Root Explorer and change any R/O -R/W you like.
Also "Move" comes up after a press of the file you wish to move.
Finally, I have a problem - I have installed vending.apk, permissions all ok etc. I can load and search the marketplace but when I try and download a file it hangs o waiting for download. This has happened on multiple apps and I've tried a couple of different vending files and a couple of installs. Any suggestions?
My only thought now is that since this is my first Android I don't currently have a device associated with my account. Any other thoughts?
I know I was half asleep the second time I installed market (after a system reinitialize) and ran the market installer but forgot to move it to /system/app and then compounded the mistake by leading the name be vending-1 instead of just vending. Only once I caught both mistakes and corrected them did market work properly. But it half worked until I fixed my mistakes. Perhaps you didn't copy to system like me or got permissions wrong?

[Q] Rooted Kindle Fire wall paper problem

Hello All,
I have a rooted KF with just the google play and android market. The live wall papers would work great for a while but lately when I put the KF to sleep and turn it back on it looses the wall paper and I have to re apply.
What can I do to fix?
Thank you

The first method is to completely replace the wallpapers with your own: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28583689
The second method is to lock one specific wallpaper or live wallpaper. This method will keep the same live wallpaper until you undo it, so you wont have to keep re-doing it.
1. Browse to /data/data/com.android.settings/files
2. Inside this folder you should see a file named "wallpaper"
3.Change the permissions so it doesn't have any(unchecked everything)
4.Now your wallpaper is changed and wont change back.
*Make sure you set the wallpaper BEFORE you do this.*
*To unlock your wallpaper again, change the permissions of the wallpaper file to rw-r-r*

The PC/USB thing can only see the SDcard. You'd have to browse there via a root-capable file manager on the Kindle.
(ES File Explorer is nice.)

You have to go into es file explorers settings and allow it root access so that you can access the root drive previously referred to, you can't browse it right now because you haven't allowed it. Once you have allowed root access you will be able to click the "up folder" in button to get to the root directory instead of the sd card directory, then you will be able to locate the directory you need.

Try going into es file explorer and change the setting of the home from /sdcard to / or /mint then u will see a data folder.

Reason it's saying that is because that *.obb file isn't put where it needs to go, so it wants to download it, and thinks it's not paid for.
I don't know the location on the AFTV as my ES File Explorer won't get off the SDCard. But it's generally ../android/obb directory.
Also, you need to copy the *.obb file over before installing the *.apk file, or it will error out with the same error.
Thanks for response. I tried that but didnt work. Here's my location of where the OBB file is
\Xperia Tablet Z\Internal storage\Android\obb\com-lego-fusion-townmaster

hmm, okay. Well, I'm getting my usb stick tomorrow and will have to deal with this myself, so give me a few days and maybe I'll have an answer for you.
Great! Hope you can figure this out. Thanks again
okay, what I have found out so far is that the obb directory is /sdcard/Android/obb and I needed to turn on root access in es file to see it.
Copying the directory of stuff into there, and then you install the *.apk
If you installed the *.apk first, then uninstall it, then copy the stuff over, then install it.
Should work for most stuff, but I haven't played with it much. Been busy.
Was really hard to find at first, the location. But I didn't have root enabled in es file.
Where did you find it?
Where did you get this obb file I've search the internet for it and all I get is this same exact post on 20 different website's.
Thanks

[Q] How to Load an Add-On Zip File in to XBMC on a Fire TV?

This week, my XBMC guru gave me a link to a Zip file that would allow me to reinstall Mashup in XBMC. Unfortunately, it appears that AT&T is blocking the hostingsiteforfree.com server, so I can't access that file. He sent me the Zip file, and I was able to successfully FTP it into my Apple TV, but I have not been able to get it on my Fire TV. Apparently I can't use a USB thumb drive to get the file on there unless I root my Fire TV, which now sounds like it could brick the unit. How can I load this Zip file into XBMC?
BTW, I tried uploading the Zip file to my own server and pointing XBMC at it, but instead of recognizing it as a Zip file that I could use to "Install from Zip File," when I clicked on it XBMC merely drilled down to its contents, showing "plugin.video.movie25" and inside that, the "resources" folder and fanart.jpgs, etc. Is there a way to post the Zip file on my own server that XBMC will be able to "Install from Zip File"?
Thanks.

Thanks for the response, smokie75. adbFire looks like it could come in very handy. But I'm feeling like the apes at the beginning of 2001, staring at the monolith before them.
I pushed the file to my Fire TV using adbFire, supposedly to my sdcard location. But when I looked for the file on my Fire TV, I couldn't find it. I tried to Add Files Source. In the window where I'd normally input a URL, I clicked on "Browse," and then in Root Filesystem I found "sdcard" listed, but when I clicked on it, up came a listing of folders like "Alarm, amazonmp3, Android, DCIM, Download, etc." and I couldn't find my mashup.zip file anywhere. Where did I go wrong?

Isn't mashup no more?
Mashup gone for good
Lol so why are people still installing it?
Sounds like you already have it sorted, but for others searching let me throw out a couple easier methods.
1) ftp - there are multiple apps that let you run a web based ftp server on your device. I haven't done this on my FireTV, but I do use one called Wifi File Transfer, or something like that, on another android device. Assuming you know how to side-load xbmc, side-loading a wifi ftp app is simple.
2) just use a samba (windows/smb) share from another computer on your lan. You can browse the smb shares from within XBMC and "install from zip" from there.

No, it's living a sort of zombie life. Although the developer pulled the plug on it, there is still a way to install it and get much of the functionality it once had. I'm new to XBMC so I never got to see Mashup in all its glory, but there is still plenty of content still working. Some of the areas, like 3D movies, appear to be missing most of their content, but other areas are still chock full of Mashup goodness.
I'm a newbie to this forum, so if it's kosher to post the URL here, let me know and I'll post it.
Is it just a playlists that are still working because they created a new ADDON that is supposed to carry that stuff over.

Someone disabled the update part of mashup. With that file you are able to use mashup without problems. Or get an old version of mashup and block github.com, it won't be able to update but you lose the use of github for other stuff.

If you're referring to Phoenix, I tried it and it's nothing like Mashup., it's nice in it's own right though. In mashup, search, new releases, newly added all work as before.

Ya know, I'm so new to XBMC that someone more knowledgable will have to answer that. Like I said, there are areas that appear to be pretty empty, but areas where a lot of content still works, some of which appears to be recent content. (I found last week's episode of Modern Family, for example.) While it appears to be a shadow of its former self, the excellent way that the content is organized and categorized still makes it my first stop when launching XBMC.

TCL Android TV Sideloading problem

Hello,
I just bought a TCL android TV for my daughter and notice last night trying to sideload the Prime Video apk that i cant do it, dont even show the .apk on the fila manager.
Tried to download aptoid thru puffin browser and seems that the cant write in the storage outside from the play store.
Says " This Device do Not appear to support the android storage acess framework"
Anyone knows how to bypass it?
I used File Commander to transfer my apk files to the TV using my laptop and again used File Commander to install the apk files. You can try that and see if that works for you.
