[Q] Question about root for sm-807t - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey everyone. Been coming to this site for a good while now and recently just purchased a galaxy tab s 10.5 LTE from T Mobile. I love it. But of course I'd rather do without TouchWiz. Even a root would be so awesome for this model. My question is, is there anything I can do to get chainfire the firmware for this so it could possibly become compatible? I've searched high and low but looks like nothing is available for any of the SM-807 variants. Mine still uses the Exynos processor. Believe it was just Sprint and Verizon with the Snapdragon. Anyone with the 807 variant find anything available or have any idea if a root is anywhere in the near future lol. Just figured I'd ask. Or maybe someone went ahead and used a root for the 800 or 805 variants and it worked, however I'm sure that's highly unlikely. Thank you guys for your time!

Cfautoroot doesnt work on the 807s. Some tryed one and had a sprint tab s and bricked it. They couldn't even restore as there was no firmwares out yet. Any way if someone can pull their recovery (idk how) and send it to beanstown or chainfire then they can port it. We should be getting root for one variantof the 807 soon. I forget which one though.

Gotcha. Thank you for the info. I'm going to see if I can figure out how to pull the img. Hopefully Samsung releases the firmware soon. Appreciate the answer!

Rooting my GSIII (T-Mobile) with MacOSX / help

I have my S3 all clean and sexy.
I'm looking for a way to Root my SGH-I999 (correct me if im wrong), and i have a macbook pro. Sorry for mentioning that, i know i should be stoned to death for even mentioning that.
I have seen a few different tutorials on rooting the S3 for windows, and even one or two for MacOSX. But i wanted to be sure that this would work for my T-Mobile variant as well as the international versions that are shown in the video.
Could i use the international version's tutorial?
If not, where could i find a good place to root my device?
Thanks!
You could use boot camp/parallels on your mac for windows, and root your device that way. After rooting, be sure NOT to install ROMs that are not compatible with your device variant; doing so will result in a bricked phone.
Good luck!

[Q] SGH-I467 compatible with non AT&T ROM/rooting guide? (not for resale version)

I have a SGH-I467 (Not for resale version)
I don't care about any of the AT&T features (LTE or Data) I just want to root this tablet and install custom ROMs on it.
My question is:
Can I do any of this yet? If so, how?
Thanks!
I have the same device, can I safely use the N5100 ROMs, Kernels and add-ons ?, thanks

Same here,
Maybe XDA could start a new section just for the SGH-I467 ?
This might be a long shot and I don't advise anyone doing this unless you're comfortable possibly bricking your device, but maybe you could odin a wifi or international image to your AT&T Note and use their exploits to gain root.
update
Anyone able to suceed at root yet?
This is why I bought the international version and just pop my US SIM in. LTE is nice and everything but I prefer having phone functionality and H+. The At&t version is modified to remove the phone features and add the american LTE. With that in mind I wouldn't flash a international rom on it.
If you do flash an international rom make sure u remove the modem/radios and you will have to make sure the "parts line up". There are memory addresses for the kernel/radio/os etc. I'm not sure if they are in the same places. If they are not then you will brick your device if for instance u put the kernel where the bootloader is suppose to be. I wouldn't try anything unless your still covered by the money back warranty.
TLDR: Let one of the seasoned Root developers find an exploit. I'm sure they could if they have the time and the device.

SGH-i257 AT&T Guinea Pig for Root ~

I have a Galaxy S4 Mini SGH-i257 U.S. AT&T model that I pickup off ebay with a broken touch screen for cheap, I have replaced the screen myself and done a factory restore and it works like brand new. What I'd like to do is offer to try any approach that any interested Dev out there has to try to root this thing, I'm not worried about bricking it or anything else, it can be sacrificed for the greater good as far as I'm concerned. I happen to have this exact same model as my own phone and desperately want to successfully root it, hence my motive!
So how about it? Any Dev's have any ideas to try? I've already tried all the towelroots, motochopper, kingo root, the Chinese one click root, tried the Androind toolkit from skipsoft and all the root tricks for the SGH-i257M (Canadian) models that I can find here on XDA, none have worked, so I am reaching out to any interested dev's with a Guinea Pig to offer up -
Let me know and thanks in advance for any interest.

need a little help with us cellular note 4

Ok, so I have the us cellular version sm-n910r4 and I'm having the hardest time finding any roms or even forums for it. I know about team us cellular but there's just not much going on over there. I am rooted, running twrp 2.8.6.0 (I think), and have supersu 2.49. I know there are some roms out there and I've even tried cm12.1 but there has to be more options! I've read a few places that certain other model numbers work with the us cellular model but I'm not sure if that's true. Does anyone know? Any help is greatly appreciated. Sorry for asking about us cellular here, but I don't know where else to go and xda has the most active and helpful forums.
yep no info anywhere
I can't find anything anywhere I can't even get it rooted I'm on a note 4 also same us cellular you mus be on 4.4.4. Even less info for 5.0
I'm actually on 5.0.1
How to root the phone runs on 5.0.1
I got the same phone this couple dates. But the phone is updated to 5.0.1 and I got no way to root it. Is any help for that? Thanks.
Some help not much. I did have root on it and nearly sure it was 5.01 . Am fairly positive that I used odin and a tar file I found published. I found the tar file but now and bricked and cannot get it to work any more. I can get the file to load or so 0din says success but cannot get past the usc screen on boot now.
BTW USC agreed to set me carrier free and I SHOWED AT THE store agreeing to do so in NC only to find I was bricked.

Rooting Quetion

I just purchased a Galaxy Note 4 in mint condition, because I'm not happy with my S 7 Edge, so this will be my daily driver, a I can't stand not having a rootable phone.. Ya this is a few yrs old, but it seems like it still has roms available.. I had a Verizon Note 4 and used the international roms, and still have them... Was there any issue with rooting after it went to 6.0 Marshmellow? I believe this phone will come shipped with it..
No issues I've ever heard of. Just flash twrp with Odin. Then flash supersu. Assuming from your post count you need no help with that.
And of course, if you use international rom, you might need a data fix for your service.

Thanks, Ya I know how to root, but like anything else, I like to check from time to time, when dealing with another phone I have not had.. Ya I had a Verizon Note 4, but that was a pure pain in the aers.. LOL. IfI would have checked before buying the S 7 Edge, I would not have spent the money... Ya I still have some files for the international rom Dr. Keaton, I used for the Verizon Note 4 and also still have the data fix.. But I'm thinking of trying one of the many roms just for Sprint. Thanks looking forward to getting this phone in my hands around the 31 of this month..

Yup and there's a unified AOSP Nougat ROM available that is for our device and it runs great!

Supposedly sometime before Christmas, which should be very soon, a lot of people are anticipating the arrival of @tx_dbs_tx N7 port rom. He's suppose to release it soon. He only releases very stable roms. Im sure it'll be very great.
But until then, if you like high customizable rom, you should try Dtux rom here on sprint thread. And if you like aosp, we have cm14 working pretty damn good and stable. It's on the verizon thread but works for all.
Enjoy your new old note 4, still the best phone money can buy.

I just downloaded that rom you mentioned. So when my phone gets here, I can get started.. One question. Should I root, before I activate it or activate first.

I don't use sprint service, but I would definitely setup and activate phone on pure stock, make sure everything works.
Then once you install twrp, I'd also make a complete stock backup (at least boot, system, efs, modem). Or use something like Flashfire by chainfire to backup partitions. Especially all the EFS partition. Keep it somewhere for safe keeping.
I don't know what kind of modding your going to do, but having a working backup is very helpful.
Then you can do what you want. But yes activate on pure stock, cause that's gonna setup your efs partition correctly and other stuff. Plus some custom roms don't have the Sprint activation software in them.
Finally got my Note 4 it is activated, but need a new sim, because the one Best buy sold me is not compatible. Now my question this one comes with 5.1.1 N910PVPU4C0G5. Is the root method for this the same as arron answered in post 2. Just checking..
I do not see a TWRP for the Note 4 other than the edge, what is the deal.

If you follow the Note 4 Qualcomm path: trlte, you'll find the one for Sprint Note 4.
https://dl.twrp.me/trltespr/twrp-3.0.2-0-trltespr.img.tar
The one above is for Odin flashing in download mode. Use the AP slot but uncheck auto reboot in Odin options. You'll need to wait for your success, 0 fail then pull USB and battery and wait at least 30 seconds. If your initial boot after TWRP flash isn't recovery, you'll end up with stock recovery when you boot there later. It won't stick.
Keep in mind that root methods are same for both lollipop and marshmallow but updating will remove root in most cases, especially using suggested methods. With that in mind, get to the right update before you root. If you're flashing a custom ROM, you don't have to root first; custom ROMs include root.
As already mentioned, make your appropriate backups.
