Updated my g3 to lollipop this week, and now cannot seem to see my sd card. In the storage setting, showing click to insert card, in file explorer cannot see it and even in the camera no option to change storage
I've tried taking out and back in, and the phone gives notification that sd card inserted, not no joy
This is the same card was using before the update, in fact hasn't been removed from phone, but now cannot see it ... all my music on there, and music player doesn't see them either
Anybody else got this problem?
Yep

Are you rooted? If so, what ROM?
I've come across this on Fresh 3.2. But I don't think it is the ROM's fault. I noticed I got that error every time I used the HTC Bookmark widget. For mine, it gave me that error then said sd card is damaged. (I'm using the stock sd card.)
Try to format your sd card. Make sure to save your files first, since it will delete everything. Also, when you go to format it, connect your phone as a disk drive, then right click your sd card and click format. Then select a long format. This will take a while.
Also, what I did was delete the Bookmark folder on my sd card. (Just in case.)
Lastly, check if the card is securely in the slot. It may have moved.
Hope this helps, let me know what happens.
Thanks for the response, but no, I am not rooted...I fixed the issue myself...I actually scanned the SD card for problems from my pc and it fixed and recovered the bad sectors ..My card is back working normally.
Sent from my HTC EVO....
I had this issue on a 32gb card and this did the trick for me. Just go to Menu/Settings/SD&PhoneStorage. Then pull down the notification bar and tap where it tells you that the sd card has an unexpected problem, while it is working to solve it quickly tap Unmount SD Card on the previous screen a few times, this should allow you to format the card to the phones specification. That should do it.
So it's possible I might just be dumb and screwed up, but I think I might have reformatted something that I didn't mean to reformat.
I wanted to wipe my SD card because I found that there were random pics appearing in my gallery of people I've never seen before in my life (got the phone second hand but popped the SD card in that I used with my old Fascinate). Opening up My Computer, there were two different removable discs that were the SD card inside my phone and what I now presume to be internal storage. I backed up everything I wanted and wiped both the SD card and the other storage device via my laptop.
Here is the problem. Whenever I boot the phone up, there is a notification that says my SD card is either blank or not in a compatible format... It asks if I want to format it, I click OK, and everything seems fine... Until I have to reboot the phone and it does the same thing all over again. This is getting to be an annoyance because I don't want to keep deleting everything on my SD card whenever I reboot my phone.
Can anybody help me fix this?
Okay I definitely did something to the internal storage. I tried taking my SD card out and rebooting it and I am still getting the blank SD card notification. It won't let me format it. What do I do?
Try connecting the sdcard to your computer through a usb adapter, or any alternative to using the phone's USB-mount. Format it with FAT32. Put it back in your phone and see if it works. If not, you might have a corrupt sdcard. Try a different one if available.
What directory were the pictures appearing in? It's possible they were cached from the browser or some social app.
Hey everyone,
I have a stock non-rooted Sprint version Galaxy S3 with Jellybean. I installed a 32 GB SD Card and it worked fine for the longest time. Today I realized that when I take pictures it will not save to the SD Card. The card is recognized by the phone, it reports the correct size, and I can see the contents but I cannot write to the card any longer.
I unmounted the card, uninstalled and reinstalled the card, and restarted the phone, but no matter what I do I can't save anything to it. I downloaded an SD card testing app and it said I didn't have permission to write to the card. Has anyone heard of this issue before? I am going to try to use the Kies Air app to move all of the contents of the card to my PC and reformat it to see if that helps. Thanks to anyone who might know what's going on.
The Dark One
Have you tried already manually adding stuff to the card via transfering files from Internal to ExtSDCard?
Have you set up your camera settings to save picture / recordings to external SD card or
try testing to create new file / folders within the card?
My phone isn't reading my SD Card anymore. It happened all of a sudden. My phone was charging then I went to check my phone to see why someone hadn't texted me. They did send a text, but no sound went through. My first thought was the sound was low, so I was going to go change my notification sound. I noticed my sound was set to "Unknown" and when I went to go check, all my sounds were missing. The only ones that were there were the ones that are in system/media.
I went to storage and my phone mounted USB Storage, or my internal storage. That fixed my 1st issue (my sounds not being there), but then my SD card wouldn't mount.
Mount is grayed out and it tells me to "Insert an SD Card". I've tried another SD card and nothing changes. My Recovery says Error Mounting SD Card, or something of that sort. The SD cards can be read on the computer just fine.
This sounds like a hardware issue. I've tried different ROMs, and even the full restore doesn't work.
I can try formatting the SD card, but I don't see how that would work seeing as the SD card was already formatted for being used by the phone in the 1st place and I'm not to sure I have an extra 15GB to store my files. My computer has lyk 10GB left.
Is there some way I can check to see if this is a hardware issue? I have insurance, but I really don't want to go through getting another phone. LoL!!
Has anyone found a way to get the SD Card permissions fixed on 4.4.2? I've tried the sd card fix, but it hasn't worked. I can view pictures and videos from my sd card, but the music on my sd card cannot be played as the file is not supported. However, if I move the mp3 to the internal sd card, then the music will start playing. Has anyone come up with a better solution for this?
