Anyone else have issues with there latch opening anytime you bump your palm on something? Clapping for example will open it sometimes.
Haven't bumped my palm yet but I had my watch at my graduation the other day which consisted of a lot clapping and had no issues there.
I've only had mine for little over a week and no problem so far.I did see a review where the person had the problem.
I've had mine about a week too and the watch clasp came loose this morning when I clapped loudly... that was the first time and I've had no problems otherwise.
Edit: After I typed my reply, I tried hitting the palms of my hands together forcefully... and the watch clasp does come open every time. I'm a drummer and haven't played with the watch on yet... but will have to see if it opens up when jamming.
I've had mine for over a month, and no problems so far. I've just tried clapping as hard as I could, it didn't open
I wonder how tight do the people that have the problem wear their watch?

My watch is brand new and does the same thing. I think it is in the design.
I keep mine tight and it has never happen
Did anyone figure a way to make it more secure? This only started happening after I took off the clear plastic covering the metal parts of the band (black band). One fairly tame clap and it pops open.

Well, I just ordered a G2 on ebay (YAY!) and I'm not kidding, last night I had trouble sleeping because I am very very worried about a loose hinge. I got this thing off contract AKA expensive and I want it to be perfect.
anyway, my question is as follows, was the loose hinge actually a common problem? or was it only blown up on the forums? I live in Israel where it will be very very hard to replace it if it is defective.
No, people just complain.
Just like when its cold, people want summer. When its hot people want winter.
Its easy to open, people want it tough and firm. When its tough and hard to open, people want it "like the g2". I had the same feeling, its over rated.
I'm talking about the hinge just popping open or closed at weird angles...it would be especially bad for someone like me who texts a lot in bed (and play old gameboy ROMS =])

It's not really weird angles, it's only when you hold the phone upside down. Then, the forces of gravity kind of open it for you (or close it, if it's already open). Otherwise, the hinge is perfectly stable, tight and functional. As I've said in other discussions like this one, I've held my phone buy the top piece and shaken it and it has not affected the opening or closing mechanism at all.
Rest easy, you're getting a badass phone lol.

he tells the truth lol
Lol, so like 45 degree angle is cool? even for those really loose ones from launch day? that literally just pop the F*ck open
It's not really a big thing. Just use your index fingers to hold up the screen, you type with your thumbs anyways. I thought it was a natural habit, but I guess not judging from all those people who complain.
I'm 100% convinced that the "loose" hinge is the way the phone was designed. Problem is, it's not what people expected, so it gets called a defect. Got to love the internet sometimes....
I'm on my third G2 (not because of the hinge) and all of them have opened and closed exactly the same, regardless of part number.
Your phone will be fine, enjoy it. It's a great phone.
the hinge is fine, just use it the way its supposed to be used and you'll be okay.
Thank's yall, the worst part about this whole thing is that I had to get it shipped to my parents house in TN and I gotta wait for a friend of mine who is visiting the holy land on the 22nd to bring it to me.
my screen doesn't slide down, even though I prop the phone up at a 180 degree angle. I think I am one of the few lucky ones with a tight hinge. I've seen some vids where even at a 45 degree angel the screen slides back close.
I like things tight, and I'm glad I added this phone to my collection, along with my girlfriend.

Well played my good man.
It's one of those things where if you see the video on youtube and then go out of your way to hold the phone in that one way that will make it do this, then, yes, it closes/opens.
It's not a bug, HTC would tell you "FAD". No, not "F-off and die", "functions as designed"
In normal use I've never had any issues.
Including in bed during the marathon session of Angry birds or gameboid (advance wars!) when I should have been sleeping

Not an issue for me, but it can be an issue for those who use a holster. When pulling the phone out, you would have to make sure you grab both halves or it may slide open. You could lose your grip on the phone and drop it.
Basically, using a holster may force you to hold the phone in that youtube way. Meaning some people my experience it day to day in regular use.
I personally solved it the Steve Jobs way. I took the little black rubber band that is included around both the headset and usb cable and wrapped it over the trackpad. Boom.

there's actually a tear down guide on here about how to make the hinge tighter but it voids warranty and what not. I'd try it myself if I had a torx 6 screw driver.

I want to try this but my rubberband "trick" does me ok lol. I would love a tight hinge to get rid of my rubberband, but not quite enough to further void my warrenty. I already rooted and Romed, but that's reversible. Taking the phone apart isn't. I'm fully capable of accomplishing it though.

Sorry about this Just had to let it out somewhere, It has nothing to do with the normal connection issues people normally complain about, in fact it was fine for me. It's just that the stap is utter crap, I was out biking earlier... and it just flew of and is now lost in a hedge somewhere Spent half hour looking, no luck Im going to look again tomorrow but does anyone know of any better straps you can buy

Any standard 20mm watch strap will connect to it. Did you lose the strap or did the actual unit fall off the watch attachment? If you are having issues with the liveview popping off the attachment you can secure it with a little piece of adhesive velcro.
I couldn't stand the standard strap that came with it so I replaced it with a bog standard silicone strap with a deployment clasp on it.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Silicon-water...Accessories_SpareParts_SM&hash=item439f727874
Only problem with that is that there is then no way to securely attach the device to the frame meaning it can fly off at the slightest knock and then it's bye bye liveview! I lost it under the fridge this morning!
I'd glue it in if it weren't for the fact you can't charge the damn thing in the frame.
I guess if you got a similar style strap to the standard one (i.e. fabric runs underneath the frame) then you could use the velcro technique...
http://www.boxwave.com/products/armorcase/armor-case-htc-evo-4g_3934.htm
anyone tried this case? theres at least one other thats similar (looks exactly the same http://www.pdair.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=10100000_900000_11000989&products_id=30835). looked up some videos on youtube and looks like its fitting kinda loose, like theres a gap between top of case and phone.
Weak signal
I had one on a htc ppc a long time ago and the metal case kind of made my signal weak, but definetly a stong case.
I have one and it works great. The gap between the case and the phone is actually the padding that acts as a shock absorber. I would recommended a Monaco case eBay, it's the same thing check it out.
Thanks for the info people.
Another question, I keep my phone in my pocket all the time. Does the latch or hinges ever get colaught on anything? Looks like it could. That would definitely be a downer.

Makes sense. I was about to say putting metal around your phone would probably make it damage more easily...
The latch doesn't get caught on clothing. Not unless your wearing one of those christmas sweaters with the big knit lol.

Hahaha haven't had one of those since I was 6 (ninja turtles FTW!). Sweetness, looks like I found my next case then.
Thanks for all the help! XD

GoodandEVO.net did a review on that case a while ago, it was not a positive one.
Not a problem my friend.

To sum it up they didn't like how it looked so it got a bad review. Also they expected super thin mental to not bend. Can anybody confirm lower signal quality?

got the case yesterday (monaco, black). i haven't noticed any signal loss at all. phone heats up a little faster but i was kinda expecting it.
overall i really love this case. it does add some bulk to the phone but i don't mind at all. kinda feels like it beefs it up some.
Glad you decided to pull the trigger on the case. It's not as bad as these guys make it out to be, is it? Enjoy!
I pulled the trigger one of these when I saw this thread. I like the look and feel of it, but it does have some problems. The main problem I have with it is that it somehow interferes with the antennas in the phone and it absolutely kills me reception/signal strength. I don't have good reception in the building I work in......2 bars is the standard. If I leave my phone inside this case, it drops to 0-1 bars. Within a second of removing it from the case, it goes back up to 2 bars. It doesn't seem to interfere with a WiFi signal, though.
The other thing I don't like is that the latch is fairly easy to open.
With that said, the same day I got it my 2 y/o was playing one of her games the phone and she dropped it onto the concrete The case did its job. However, the impact did cause the door to swing open, but nothing happened to my phone.
I'm not sure if I want to keep it or not. With the slow data services I've been getting since the end of last year, I don't want anything that's going to slow down my phone even more.
Lol... Metal cases on cellphones... Might look cool but not the brightest idea ever, lol
The very small prongs on the wristband button are completely inadequate. The wristband is very easily dislodged.
I have modified mine to ensure that I don't lose it after a friend lost theirs. A quick search on Google reveals that they are not alone.
Is Sony going to admit their design is flawed and issue a revised wristband?

I've had mine on for about 2 months without dislodging. I am CrossFit athlete, 5 workouts a week.
Mine got knocked off my wrist twice before I finally modified it. I was lucky that I was at home and that I noticed it falling off my wrist. The modification I made has stopped it falling off on another occasion.
Movement (such as Cross Training) is not the issue, the problem is when the band is knocked against something. For example if you were to put your hand into your jeans pocket to get some change out, if the band catches the edge of your pocket it will easily be dislodged.
Note that Sony is currently offering a 50% discount on this item, perhaps they are trying to shift the stock of the current model before offering a revised design.
I workout as well and have been swimming a lot these days but i never had problems.
As previously stated it is not working out that is the issue. This is not just a pure exercise device it is meant to be worn 24 hours a day.
The issue is that when the strap is knocked against something it is far too easily dislodged.
Do you wear anything else on the same wrist as the smartband?

I understand what you are trying to say, but i really haven't had this problem at all. Can't really see how it could happen with normal daily use.
It has happened to quite a few people. As I said mine has fallen off twice, in both cases it was knocked against something fairly lightly.
A friend completely lost theirs and has no idea how or where it happened.
A quick Google will take you to a widely syndicated article where the person reviewing the Smartband lost it before they had a chance to comment on battery life.
Further Google research will reveal quite a few other people who have lost their Smartband, in every case they blame the inadequate design of the clasp.
Do you wear anything on the same wrist as the Smartband?
in years? Right now I'm using a OnePlus One and would like to know how you and/or I can benefit from this watch? Im curious enough to try it, just not sure how handy it will be to have notifications/time/weather/etc on your wrist?
I've worn a watch everyday for about as long as I can remember, and I love this watch. First and foremost, this functions as a watch, which is what I want. Everything else, is just a bonus. Being able to preview messages, accept/decline calls, navigation and other app notifications are all pretty awesome. The only real downside is still the battery life. You have to get used to charging it every single night. If you forget, this thing will not last an entire 2nd day.
Overall, I like where this smartwatch is taking the market, but it is still definitely a crude 1st round version of a step in the right direction.
I haven't worn a watch since I had a pager back in the late 90's. I took a chance on getting one thinking it would be more of a fad than of real use. I've had it for 2 months now and feel naked when its not on my wrist. It's extremely convenient to just take a glance at your wrist then to pull my phone out of my pocket. Especially while in a meeting or at the dinner table. As it will never replace my phone in any way in future builds. It is a perfect compliment to it. Good luck with your decision.

Moto360 is my first watch... At first, it was tough to get used to putting it... if it slides down onto the wrist, it limits hand movement... strapping the watch on too tight is a pain... good side is that now I dont need my phone near me to receive/answer messages, lol... thus easier to reply at work where people are always watching you....
