I am contemplating buying the moto 360 in silver with grey leather strap but this cracking issue is scaring my pants off. Obviously most poster in the cracking threads are people with this issue and consequently isn't a natural picture of have widespread the issue actually is hence this poll:
They should of made it of carbon ...
I think its an issue of the band putting pressure and stressing the plastic ...
This could be for different reason
They actually seem to happen with the leather and metal bands .... Some ppl might put it on too tight , others wear it on the wrist so it gets stressed when they bend there wrist . small wrists is another possibility .
Motorola does seem to be covering alot of them recently ...but then it might just happen again .....

I have the exact same issue with the crack. Didn't have anything when I bought it(When I did I was aware of it), but soon a really small crack came, and by the day the crack grows bigger, its just one tho. Still I am using the original band, haven't changed it since I bought it.

Okay here's the deal.. I currently have an HTC Desire, and I recently tried the SGSII.. My desire is a FREAKING TANK! I cant hurt it no matter what I do, including sending it flying across the room more times then I care to admit.. the glass has one tiny light scratch from when it spent a day in my pocket with my keys.. The SGSII on the other hand, I dropped it (rather gently) from my pocket the day I got it, and the case got a huge ugly gouge!
We've all seen the video of the guy taking his keys to the glass, which is what you should be able to do with any smartphone, but how does the actual case housing stand up? anyone got any stories of terrible incidents it survived unblemished?
I am hard on my phones.. I dont deny it, so I want something that will handle a beating and I'm kinda skeptical of Samsung after my experience with the SGSII.
P.S. my alternate is the Amaze
I too had a Desire and I have to say I am very pleased with the build quality of the GN. I can't say I've thrown my brand new phone across the room or even dropped it yet (I'm not the most accident prone) but it seems to be a sturdy piece of kit!

If you were unimpressed by the build quality/durability of the SGSII casing, not much is going to change with your feelings on the GN. Its built pretty much out of the same materials. You're best off sticking with an extra case if you get it.

Dropping it on carpet just proves that the screen/internals won't break from a hard fall. I think what OP is referring to in the case of his old SGSII is big gouges or scratches in the casing, which the GN will probably suffer from the same way.
I ordered this for good measure..lol

Yes I was referring to actually dropping it.. Every other week my desire gets knocked off the living room table, or the like. I don't actively throw it or go out of my way to be rough, but we have an active house, And things happen. I guess I'll have to look into a very slim case, as I usually just toss it in my Jeans front pocket And go.

Good to know.. but with my luck, having an extra case on hand in case of a disaster would jinx me. Then if I dropped it the screen would probably shatter...lol
Well there was that thread where a guy cracked his screen.
The bit that worried me was when a second guy posted his cracked too. He put it in his pocket as normal, got to work and the screen was cracked :/

Sounds like BS to me. There had to be something in his pocket putting a lot of pressure on the glass. And he must wear some skin tight jeans for that to happen... or something bashed his phone.
I always put my phones in my jeans pocket. OG Droid, and Nexus S. Always keep that pocket empty but my phone.
I just unboxed a new steel grey s2 that now, unlike the platinum version, has a silver coloured lens surround on the back. I noticed that there appears to be several "scuffs" on this part, at least i think they are scuffs. I say "think" because they are only visible at certain angles. Im thinking it may be the etched pattern is different in spots giving the appearance of scratches...any thoughts?
Do they look like rings? If so, they're just part of the camera design.
Not really...
I think I know what you are referring to. But these look like little scuff marks and are most apparent on one of the edges. Truly, it's so likely nothing but I'm kinda anal...

Ah. My Hercules also has some scuffs on the edge of the camera, but it's because I use it a lot. Maybe even though T-Mobile said the device was new, it really was a refurb.
That's all fine dandy but if it is refurb it should not cost as much.. just my 2 cents
So, stupidly enough, I managed to drop my nexus 7 on pavement. Even though it had a case on it, the edge still managed to get chipped. It really annoys me, and I was wondering if anyone has had the same problem and came up with a quick solution to make it look somewhat nicer. It's not a huge deal, but I figured I'd reach out to you guys to see if anyone had a fix. Thanks! A picture of the damage is attached. Ignore all the other little bits of dust; it's magnified in the picture. Sorry for the blurriness too.
Short of outright replacement, I'd probably use colored epoxy clay. Mix it, mold it and let it harden. Not sure about how long it would adhere.
zam..

So this one dropped and didn't break or crack the glass, others, accordingly to users here, crack and break out of air.
Yea, now all those stories start to make sense and this tablet isn't that bad afterall.
I just dropped mine today from chest height (had it in my chest pocket on my coat) onto some steel. Nothing broken. Just a slight ding near the volume button. I've had it less than 24 hours

I know that this post is a bit old.... but it came up on a search...
I have ended up with a similar type of chip on the side of my N7 2013. Except -- I didn't drop it. Nor has anyone else touched it. It just appeared out of the blue, indeed, with a Poetic Graphgrip installed.
It appears that the plastic around the bezel is quite brittle on this one.

For the short time I've been a member here one of the things that has fascinated me the most is how two members can experience the direct opposite and neither members experience negates the other. I put my graphgrip on 2 days after buying my device in early sept 2013 and have dropped my unit twice on a hard surface on a thin edge since. My unit has no damage and I attribute that to the poetic. Yet reading that a device spontaneously chips an edge while wearing a graphgrip does not surprise me in the least. I am just happy that such activity has not been my experience.
I just got the Moto 360 Stone grey from BB and I found it sounds really squeaky when putting it on or taking it off or pretty much any time the band touches or has some form of pressure against the lip on the bottom of the 360. It makes the moto seem cheap cause it sounds like a cheap plastic toy.
Does anyone else have that issue with it? I also have 2 stuck pixels so I have to go through a return process.... But just wanted to see if that squeaky/creaky thing is normal or if I just got a bunk unit.
Thanks

Yup my black 360 squeaks and creaks the same way. Even when touching the screen it will creak. Thinking of getting the Pebble Steel band and hopefully that will quiet it down...

Crap well that sucks. It really makes the watch sound and seem cheap.
Anyone else care to weigh in? Could it be cause the leather is new or is that how it sounds even after weeks of use?

damn I hope it isn't a problem with the plastic back... I really wished they used some type of stronger material than plastic for the back or a higher end plastic cause all this cracking and squeaking is a problem..
No sound from my black one so far.
Got a black one over a week ago because it was the only one I could find. No sweeks, noises or problems.
Just got a Stone gray on Monday. It does squeak/creak fresh out of the box.
The black leather felt softer, less stiff when compared to the Stone.
While I haven't compared them side by side, I think the black band might also be thinner.
The leather band on mind squeaks but that is what leather does.

No not like a squeaky toy when your wearing it and pretty any movement you make makes some type of small to loud squeak. How is that normal or tolerable in a watch? Especially if you're trying to be in a quiet environment.
I found that its the band rubbing against the inner slot of the watch that seems to cause the squeaking. I'm gonna contact motorola and see what they say if not just return it to best buy cause they don't have any in stock

Lol. You can't please everyone. Leather makes these noises, it will go away over time.
It probably got dust in there or something, the friction is what makes the squeak.
You guys just need to remove the band and clean where it touches the watch body, if it still squeaks try a bit of baby powder :good:

So when I got my replacement and it didn't squeak so my concern was definitely not me not being "pleased" it was a defective watch overall it had dead pixels, a squeaky band and the button felt mushy. The black one I have now is solid no squeak at all the button clicks and one extremely small dead pixel off near the edge that can only be seen on a dark screen on full brightness if you're close looking at it, but seeing as they are so hard to find and I got lucky with this one I don't mind it.
I just stumbled upon this when I was fixing up my fingernails. I wondered to myself if the polish side of the multi-step nail filers would buff out scratches. So, I tried and it got rid of every single scratch on the sides and top of my G4. Thought I'd share it with the community. Hopefully everyone knows what I'm talking about. I can take a picture of what it looks like. Be careful not to use any of the other abrasive sides. I'm not sure what the material is made up of, so be warned that if they're all made differently. I just figured some users would appreciate it for resale value or just reviving the frame of the phone.
EDIT: Now that I look at it a little closer, you can still see some of them, but it cleaned them up very nicely. The longer I do it, the more scratches disappear. Worked nicely on the plastic cover over the laser as well.
Hi,

I don't think so. That'd probably be too abrasive.

If you go into a retailer, go to the beauty section and look for something that has something that says step 1, step 2, step 3, etc. The last step of the filer is supposed to polish/shine nails. Sometimes they will look like a block of foam with 4 sides.

That's how people fix plastic crystals on watches and also how people remove scratches on the iPod Video when those were very easy to scratch.

I hope that from here on out, all LG flagships will include as much metal as possible. The ONLY complaint I really have is the easily scratched frames and lens glass cover. I was never the type of person to shun plastic phones, because they can look as good as metal and it doesn't hinder the phone's actual performance, but now that I've had the G2 and G4, I'd like to see more durable construction, given that the phones are fairly expensive.

Hopefully, that was the reason I used to always owned Motorola because of the like a tank build quality until the non-removeable battery models were just glued on back covers that came off when the battery got swollen, maybe it's a safety design.
I've still no idea what you're talking about OP, can you elaborate? I'm getting a case for mine soon and it'd be nice to get some of these surface level scratches out beforehand.
Also confused and interested.

I Have said this for years. Sucks how information gets lost in the abyss. I started doing this back in my Droid 2 days. Once I got a galaxy nexus, I even began using some acrylic filler and buffing that as well.
I do get what you mean, with those 4 in one (or more commonly 3 in 1) nail files, its super easy to make a mistake. Just go to sallys beauty supply where you can buy the shine files separately. I would advise taping the display with masking tape if you do not use a screen protector.
