[Q] HTC One (M8) Wi-Fi troubles - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys i have a australian Delivered one M8 "from telsta" now i had previously upgraded to stock 4.4.3 and the installed viper rom 2.5 over the top of it but my carrier has only just shipped the 4.4.4 "needed for viper rom 3.0+" now i used the stock telsrta rom from here "and corrisponding stock recovery" XDA FORUM LINK namely the CID TELST001 1.12.841.17 - TWRP Thanks to wineds, because it matched my CID now after installing stock rom and recovery i had several OTA updates to be able to get upto 4.4.4 as the Nandriod back up was 4.4.1 but the OTA update to 4.4.2 that downloads and installs perfectly over WiFi after being installed bugs out and when i go to power on the wifi to get the 4.4.3 OTA update the Wi-Fi simply sits their trying to power on and then gives up any fixes other then having to download the 4.43 OTA over mobile data? "some thing i dont have atm as im prepaid and data is very pricey with telstra" would really like to fix the wifi issue as is and continue updating and then slip back to my vipoer rom hopefully version 3 ASAP cheers mates from down under make sure you guys have a cold beer this christmas!!!

[Q] OTA T-Mobile with unlocked / rooted HTC One X

Dear all,
my HTC One X was unlocked with htcdev and the mobile device was rooted. Now I have big problems to pair my HTC with my VW bluetooth device. I would like to install the new OTA which was published some days ago by T-Mobile.
Currently I am using Android 4.03 with HTC Sense 4.0 Software 1.26.111.4
The new OTA is 1.28.111.x. ow can I proceed to get this OTA installed without danger to brick my phone ?! I am novice for Android.
Thanks in advance.

hello mate. what i did was before i rooted my phone was made a backup of my stock rom. that was on 1.26. then i flashed a rom and all was good. my carrier released the OTA so what i did i reverted back to my backup and then did not need to lock bootloader or anything and just flashed the OTA and my phone got updated. then just installed the latest cwm recovery and back on a custom rom
since you do not have a custom rom on i am pretty sure you can update since you have not flashed any roms. if you have the option to update OTA then go for it mate.
but make sure if you have custom recovery to flash back to the stock one. you can get stock recovery.img from this thread here in the first post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1594819
Hey guys quick question I am thinking of getting an unlocked what looks like international version of the one X on ebay, (because of the 32gb and quad core CPU) but I was wondering how does this phone play with tmobile's network. will it access hspa 41 network? or just the hspa 21? any help will be greatly appreciated.

Flashed back to stock, OTA still not working.

Hi guys – just a quick question here :
- so I've decided to sell my M8, so I thought it best to get it back to stock, so I did the following :
1) flashed stock rom (from the XDA thread) to suit my CID.
2) flashed stock recovery (also from XDA) which obviously removed TWRP.
3) relocked the bootloader.
4) S-ON – I never actually managed to get S-OFF so this was a non issue.
Anyways, its all good, back to 100% stock, but there's a couple of issues.
1) when I set it up the language choices for English were US and British, non Aus.
2) I know there's an OTA 4.4.3 update but when I check for updates, it tells me there is no new update (I am with Vodafone).
Any advice would be awesome!
Hi
What is your current rom version in Settings -->About--> Software Info
What ROM and Recovery did you flash?
Its also possible that they are still rolling out 4.4.3 update to Vodafone Customers, they do release them in batches.

Figuring out CID/getting OTA Updates to work again

Hello!
I recently bought a HTC One m8 used. Sadly i did not check up on the Software and it was pre-rooted and had some older version of Viper Rom on it (2.7 i think). It was also s-on and had that bug (i believe it was a TWRP one) so it would not show me the CID nor the current version it was on. So my thought was that id like to initially get to the point where i would recieve OTA Updates again so i could update the base system to install any ROM id like. After doing research for hours and trying various stuff it seemed i could not get back to stock without the CID. So what i initially did then was use Method 2 described in this thread to Upgrade the Firmware which is now 3.28.401.9. I then change the CID to the google OTA Update one and installed the Google Play Edition Rom. The ROM was kinda buggy and did not work properly tho (i assume its still an issue that the underlying Firmware is not up-to-date enough) so i went back, changed the CID to HTC__001 and installed the stock 3.28.401.9 Rom + Recovery hoping the OTA Updates would come. It has not yet happened and i am not sure it will.
So here is my question: Will OTA Updates come if my initial CID does not match the CID i currently have even if i set it with fastboot? Is there a way for me to figure out my initial CID at this point? All i really want are working OTA Updates, after that i can install any ROM anyway, but this seems to elude me.
Thanks you!

I do see a 3.29.401.9 firmware but I think it was a small OTA fix
try pushing your date ahead and trying to find it

upgrading from 5.1 to 6.0 on device without OTA?

i'm bought myself a donor phone on ebay to use as a test for my main M9.
the main m9 is on a vodafone UK CID which has 6.0.1 OTA'd to it.
the donor phone is from South Africa, HTC__016, and latest OTA is 5.1, sim-unlocked and S-ON.
so far, i've unlocked the bootloader via htcdev, have TWRP (2.x.x.x which seems to be the latest i can currently get to work on the recovery partition) but struggling to find the next peice of the puzzle on how to upgrade it to a 6.0 ROM.
The TWRP recoveries for the CID dont seem to be working despite reporting sucessful restore, with download mode still reporting OS version of 2.10.401.1.
I'm aiming to get the Viper 6.0 ROM on it, but i'm currently having issues updating the 'OS' version to even start to look at the viper ROM install.
Any sugestions what to try? i'm working with the assumption i need to get the OS upto a 3.x version but cant find anything that works.
You have to upgrade to 6.0 firmware to get 6.0 twrp and roms to work. The simplest way to do that is to s-off and flash manually.
If your main phone is on 6.0 you won't have these problems.
thanks for the help..
time to get 5.1 back on it and run through s-off

HTC M8 unlocked Android 5.0.1 says "There are no updates available for your phone"

HTC M8 unlocked Android 5.0.1 says "There are no updates available for your phone"
So, I have an unlocked HTC M8 (S-ON) with latest custom TWRP recovery that I wanted to use with HTC's original ROM. So I downloaded and flashed through TWRP a ROM called One_M8_4.16.401.10_stock_system_dump.
Everything worked great and phone runs on HTC's official (hope so) ROM BUT it doesn't' give an update and we all know that there's a MM version out there with Sense 7.0.
I don't know what additional information you would like me to provide you with so you can help me out.
Thanks in advance.
I think I remember that stock dump. But I have no idea if it meets all the requirements to get the OTA notification. Even if it did (receive the notification), you would still need to re-install stock recovery to actually install the OTA (having TWRP installed will cause the install to fail).
Either flash the MM Euro RUU using these downloads and instructions: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64926626&postcount=6
Or follow the whole process to properly return to stock, and OTA: https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/tutorial-how-to-stock-stock-twrp-t3086860
