I've recently upgraded to the ARHD 5.0.0 Rom and my Quadrant score has dropped from an average of 4800 down to an average of 3800.
I realise quadrant is not the most reliable benchmark for realworld performance but that seems like a pretty big drop.
Anyone else know what could have happened?
Thanks.
What has happened is that it's meaningless Quadrant score has dropped. I'd just ignore it altogether.

People are reporting lower AnTuTu scores after 1.29 so if the ROM you're using is 1.29 based what you're observing could be a result of the update. Since Nvidia's code and drivers are proprietary the devs use it pretty much as-is.

As Nvidia plays around with low-level code and drivers to address battery life and fix the graphics issues they'll be tweaking the behaviour of the CPU. There were some pretty odd changes to the CPU code in the Prime while Nvidia was tackling its launch issues.
You have to do quadrant in stock rom.
On 1.26 and 1.28 stock rom it's easily around 4,600 to 4,800. Should be around the same for stock 1.29. I'll see it when I get the Asia ota.
I've tried most roms around and some of their versions are low and some after their update becomes on par with stock in terms of quadrant. It's due to the fact that they are doing heavy tweaking on the rom thus affecting performance a bit (whether for better or worse) . Good thing is they can easily rectify the problem on their next releases.
Although benchmark is not a clear indication of real world performance but it's always nice to get high scores nonetheless. Lol.

Ever since I rooted I noticed my phone was running a bit slower. And in 3dmark, my results came back much lower than what it's supposed to come back as. Games are running stuttering much more as well. Any way to fix this? Thanks!
P.S. As you can tell, I'm a complete noob at this
I have a slightly defective Lg G3,
When running stock antutu is around 20k, quadrant is around 12K.
Now when i install AndroidNOW HD the kernel has a patch that fixes it, the phone scores around 25k Quadrant and 38-41K antutu.
I tried the 70-75-80% heat patch, but no dice, still no improvement, and i dont want to depend on a modded.
If i could identify the patch/correction that fixes this, issue and learn to apply it to AOSP and CM12. i´d be much happier since i dont have to depend on a specific rom from a developer that isnt extreamly liked here.
Scores are worthless. Bet you can't tell any difference when using it. ?
actually it does lag a little, also crashes once in a while.
no one as a clue as to this ?
Or are you just teasing me becuase im worried about scores ? its not only benchmarks, the phone shuts down, some games wont run, others run with artifacting...
I play 3d games with my z2 (mortal Kombat x and Injustice 2 in particular). I'm not really familiar with kernel tweaking and overclocking and I actually don't want to be.
I'm out on a search for a custom ROM for this device that has the smoothest performance for 3d gaming with the highest battery efficiency. The best ROM in those terms i have tried, was cosmicOS 7.1.1 on which i had 6h SOT with 2h of high smoothness 3d gaming (when it went 7.1.2 those perks were lost though).
I have tried almost every ROM out there and i didn't find something to amaze me (but of course many of them were tried on previous builds and i can't switch ROMs every time one of them gets updated)
I'm currently on ViperOS which satisfied me in terms of customzation and performance but not that much for its battery life and maintenance has also stopped.
So.. any 3d gamers out there have any suggestions?
Update: After flashing AEX 4.4 i can say all my needs are covered. The versions before had a heating issue, some battery drain and some lagging on 3d games. These aren't there any more.
It's now the most satisfying ROM out there and on a high speed race towards perfection since everything else is smooth like butter too.
I got 5h sot with 1:30h of 3d gaming.
If anyone's having the same expectations don't hesitate for a second, go ahead for AEX

Ok thanks
I am on latest ZUI(haven't unlocked yet) and play Marvel future fight a LOT...3-4 hours minimum and have to recharge the phone twice in 24 hours. Performance is so-so, sometimes would lag but rectify itself after game restart. Heats a lot. I tried the overclock feature in ZUI which increases heat beyond comfort but doesn't add anything to performance.
why dont you try to use AKT profiles? You can find a reasonable performance profile when play games, then set it to powersaving when not playing

I'm not really fond of tweaking. I believe they cause higher drain than they should when on performance and higher laggyness than they should when on powersave.
Besides, i don't find it handy to change AKT all the time, i'll most of the time forget about it
Thank you though!
Any update? I finally sold my LG G5 and decided to unlock ZUK 2's bootloader. My requirements are same as OP except I want best of audio quality too. So AEX is the ROM to go for and install ARISE?

AEX 4.5 is dope. There has to be something major for it to lose first place among the others
Ok, i have to update this.
ViperOS 3.0 came out and it's 3d gaming performance is astonishing. Its battery consumption while using is great too. This build doesn't go into deep sleep but, if it's fixed with an update, it will become exactly the ROM for 3d gamers.
AEX EAS unofficial is also Released (which i'm using currently and not changing easily) and it's, for me, perfect. Great battery, amazing smoothness and response, bugless and with much higher performance on 3d gaming than official AEX.
My opinion on 3d gaming is based upon performance on Mortal Kombat X and Injustice 2. Injustice 2 is exactly on the verge when I switch ROMs. Some let it run smoothly and some make it cut frames. Those two let the phone run it really smoothly (with ViperOS being just a shred better)
i faced lags in 8 ball pool with viper 3 aex 4.5 and some other roms out there ...atomic os was the best for me in terms of gaming and battery life but didn't have the camera updated so now back to official stock zui.
I installed AEX, it's much smoother than stock but ANTUTU score is lower than stock. Backup is not as good as stock either. Marvel future fight even at lowest settings cut frames.
I installed 3.5 citrus from miju12 and never actually left it. The 3d gaming performance combined with no heat and good battery is incomparable.
I've tried RR, jaguar, aex and pixel experience from oreo but nothing satisfied me.
Can anyone share an Oreo ROM to play some games?
in gaming performance most oreo roms do the job fine

Yes, flashed this rom, no heating, smooth, good battery, awesome gaming, was looking for this type of great rom. Thanks!
So basically I just got my mate 20 yesterday and I just did an antutu benchmark right after I open it and got a score of 313k without performance mode... Right after I tested it I then proceed to update it to the latest version which is the 0.146 and got an average of 205k?! Without performance mode on and got 305k with performance mode on can someone explain what happened pls? Also whenever I go to the menu I get white or black screen for my open apps rather than what's in the screen of it
Sorry to hear that. Maybe you should do a factory reset before you invest too much time setting it up.
Actually the second problem was solved now... I just needed to restart my device... The only problem now is the 1st one which talks about the speed... I can reach 305k with performance mode on but with it being off It can only manage to average around 200k... Is this because of the updates?
It's because of useless AnTuTu
How come klanac??
What do you mean how come? Antutu and other performance measuring are pure crap. Even Huawei admitted they manipulated the scores of these programs before.
Do you feel the phone got slower? Hangs? Application shutdowns? Then you have a problem.
Antutu not stable then you need to get out more often man: D
I see... Well it has bugs like the auto brightness which seems common for some people who has the mate series but so far its been performing good so I'm happy
the phone overheats on stock kirin 980 speed while doing any extensive work for sometime .. also it uses more battery .. so they limited full speed to performance mode only .. but i get 265k without performance mode and 305k with it
