[Q] How do you change the name of your Amazon Fire TV? - Fire TV Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How do you change the name of your Amazon Fire TV?
By default, it's named, "Your first name's" Fire TV but is there a way to change it to something more meaningful, like Family Room Fire TV?

[RE] How do you change the name of your Amazon Fire TV?
You can change the device name on the amazon homepage.
Sign in with your account. Under My content and devices you'll find your FireTV and there you can change the name.

[Q] Can I install Kindle Fire games/apps I bought onto Fire TV?

I bought a few Kindle Fire games through Amazon.com without actually owning a Kindle Fire, thinking that I could somehow install them to any old Android device. I'm curious if I'd be able to install and play those games on the Fire TV, or does Amazon restrict it to apps and games made specifically for the Fire TV? Does rooting and the ability to side load change any of this? I suppose I'd still need to somehow install the Amazon Fire apps through the Amazon App Store. Thanks for any help.

It should work. The apps normally will install on any device you have installed the app store on. If they don't show up in your purchased/downloaded app list you may have to sideload them.

[Q] adding apk and live tv to amazon fire tv

Hi ive just installed xbmc for amazon fire tv. Just wondered if there is away to add apk files inside xbmc. Rather than on sidebar? Also tried adding live tv as it worked well on pc. No success on amazon fire tv yet. Many thanks
I've got IPTV based LIVE TV working on XBMC without a problem, so I'm betting it works.

Not sure if FireOS 5 changed any of this. And the biggest problem with DNS is finding a service that is not being targeted for blocking by the media provider. I've been meaning to look into running my own DNS option on my Tomato router but that's just a future project for now.

Fire TV or Roku Ultra? which one it better?

I am going to change my old MX tv box, have done some research on google, it seems that the Amazon's tv device and the Roku's tv decice, so I decided to select one from this two brands...I found a top tv boxes review one google, saying that the Amazon Fire TV got over 10,000 apps for the tv box but only 140 channels, and the Roku Ultra got over 3500 channels but not as much as app selections like the fire tv. anyone have experience on the both devices? which one is better?
FIRE TV Definitely because it's pretty much android so you can install apk files and you can get kodi and set it up for free movies!
I agree. You can add kodi and other android apps on fire which you cannot on Roku.
thanks

Beware the fire stick is great but can run a bit slow with Kodi. The fire TV box is better.
