Currently, Ventriloid and Mangler are non functional for the Android JB firmware. Although the Ventriloid dev has posted a temp fix in the app description, it crashes alot and will not serve much use for me. Is it possible for someone to post a fixed app or a way to access vent on JB?

Ventriloid dev here. What issues are you having with the test version on the site? I just finished up my semester at school and will hopefully have an official release out by January, but I need some help testing.
Ventrilo for JB not working?

Just wanted to jump in and mention that I am having issues too. Samsung SII, cm10. When I start ventriloid is initially says connecting, but then very often goes back to mobile's home screen. It then leaves a notification bar entry saying that it is connected. When you click on that, it does its two vibrates and goes off entirely. Sometimes I can get it going again, but is very fiddly. Dont know if this helps. Hope so.

Go try out the Alpha at ventriloid.googlecode.com in the downloads section and let me know how it works for you. I apologize for any lack of features in that version but it's a huge work in progress.

Have downloaded and it seems to work well. (Did loose the Ventriloid icon though!) One comment: One must tick the box Enable Global Push to Talk in order to see key. That is fine, but it does cover up part of you keyboard if you, for example, need to type in a password for a channel. Not a problem, but thought I would at least mention it.).:good:

I'm glad it's working for you I'm working on a complete UI overhaul and that global push to talk was more or less a proof of concept for being able to talk outside of the app. Android has limitations for hardware key interception that won't allow push to talk while the app is in the background, so hopefully people will enjoy this new button. It will eventually be a bar with other options that can be hidden. Thanks so much for testing, I'm glad the ICS/JB fix is working.

I greatly appreciate it I need to get a Bluetooth headset for testing, but Christmas and next semester's tuition has completely drained me haha. Let me know if you have any other issues or feature requests!
I just can't seem to get xbmc working on this tablet. I've searched the net far and wide looking for a solution.
Has anyone here managed to get it working properly? What build did you use? Thanks in advance. A tablet is useless to me without xbmx!

Thanks! But still no go. Had the same issue this afternoon with a Gotham build. Getting "Cannot connect to server"
Try mizuu though there is no free version. I bought it and like it. Almost like xbmc. Even better, it allows you to choose your own player with hardware decode.

It's working on mine using MX player (both 1channel and Icefilm are working). Did you download playercorefactory.xml file, copy and paste in
/sdcard/Android/data/org.xbmc.xbmc/files/.xbmc/userdata folder?
Yup. Might also have to do with "fail to start commoncache"
Any other suggestions? I really need to get xbmc going.
If you're in the UK all isp's have had a court order to block 1 channel and PFTV. the "fail to start commoncache" bug has been around for a while now in gotham but this only comes up on certain tabs. The "Cannot connect to server" bug has to do with metadata so if you unselect this it should work on those addons.
I've got the Note 10.1 2014 SM-P600 and have xbmc running on it with no problem at, in fact are watching a 1080p film at present. I'm running a Gotham Alpha9 monthly build
compiled 31st Oct
I'm in Canada and xbmc is working fine on my other devices. I'll try unchecking the meta data and see if that works. Much appreciated.
That did it! Thank you!
That's great news
xbmc works on my device but sound craks
i was wondering if other people have sound problems, i don't know the write word for it , its like a electric crack.
this problem is only in xbmc

Could one of you clarify this please because its not exactly clear, you mean its certain addons that cause the problem and its in those addons config you must turn off metadata?
Hardware decoding is working on these right? I know Exynos is supported but I just wanted to check.

I have this problem too.
>>X<<,
Due to a UK court order addons have been blocked by ISP's here. When the developers tried to fix this for some unknown reason (still in being) with metadata set to on caused the addons not work on the 1's block by this UK order and other addons not block and so the only way around was to check each addon to see if it would work or not.
Now since the last post some dev have sorted this bug out and some have not. Sorry but I've been to busy to update my list of which needs metadata off/on. I do know Mashup is fixed. Yes hardware decoding is still working but remember to use the correct 1 for your Android OS.
The crackling sound has been linked to a few Gotham nighlies So best thing is to use the last monthly. Anytime soon Gotham13 will go into it's first beta

xbmc sound fixt pickture is now no good
Thank you for the information, i installed nightly build: 20131208-b7ef080-master-armeabi-v7a.
Sound problem is gone, but there was u remark about a data base not compatible,so i disabled it, and there was a remark about commoncashe failed to start, i continued the program to see the movie, .
the main problem now, is that the picture is not ok , so sound is good now but picture is bad !
there is a fat green line under the picture and the colors are like it is a 3d movie , you for those glasses whit red en green.
today i wanted to see if i could try a other but the site is down ore something like that.
i keep posting about my quest to try try and try :cyclops:

jamaraki8,
OK the issue you have with the green bar is due to which H/W acc module you are using, Libstagefright or mediacodec,, as you are using the Note 10.1 2014 running JB 4.3 them my guess is you either have bot turned on or just mediacodec.. Try turning mediacodec off and leave Libstagefright as your default H/W acc module, this is how my xbmc is set up and it runs 720/1080p vids np at all.
>>X<<
np at all, it look's like there are no more nightly builds after 8th Dec so it may mean a Gotham beta is around the corner lol
XBMC Sound And PicTure Problems Solved
Thank you, sheepybach
My problems are over now !, not all but that is related to plugins like 1channel etc not compatible(YET).
Just for people whit same problems:
I had sound en picture problems
My system is:
Note 10.1 (2014) running, build number JSS15J.P600XXUBMJ6, android 4.3
XBMC, Nighty , 20131211-210CF9F-master-armeabi-v7A.apk
After installing this nighty, my sound problem was over, but the picture was terrible whit a green line under it, sheepybach told me, that I am running: H/W acc module Libstagefright and mediacodec at the same time, so I needed to turn mediacodec OFF, and leave the other one ON.
But I did not find them , I had to go to System then to PlayBack ,below on the left site there is setting level, switch that to expert, now you see :Allow hardware acceleration (libstagefricht) its ON, and if you scroll a bit down:laugh:, you see the other, its ON to ,switch it OFF.
Now my main problems are over, but the plug in 1channel is not compatible, Icefilms seems ok !
P.S I tried to install 1Channel anyway but it did not allow me , I also couldn’t find/install XBMC Maintenance module.
I hope this makes it clear for other people
Thanks to sheepybach
jamaraki8
Really glad you are sorted and sorry I do forget sometimes to inform peeps where things are or how to change them so that's my bad.
As for channel 1 I'm in the same boat at present and so are a lot of others, the devs get it working and then isp's block it again so it's still a work in progress. Odd you can't find or install XBMC Maintenance module as I can find it but have the XunityTalk Maintenance module installed instead as I find that 1 better.

No One will know until it comes out could have proprietary aspects to it like the ds4 controller.

It doesn't really work with the shield yet, even with the Xbox driver kernel. It's detected, and will pair, but a lot of the buttons are mismapped, and I haven't found a way around that yet.
Some games on Windows actually have the same problem as well.

after firmware update it works but you have to pair every time you start the controller on android.
and the button layout is different than the Xbox 360.
someone need to make an app to fix those small issues.
on my PC side everything works after the Bluetooth stack and driver update for the anniversary from broadcom.
my PC use a all in one Bluetooth and wifi chip from them.

The shield just doesn't map the controller to the Xbox 360 layout correctly. if you have an app where you can bind inputs, like an emulator, all the inputs are active...and you can bind them all manually and it's usable. But if your game does not have that, or is expecting xinput commands, the buttons are wrong, the bumpers seem to be Y, triggers don't seem to do anything etc.

This is disappointing. Surely there will be an update that fixes this :'(
If your controller is updated and you have root, you could try to use a new keymap for the controller.
My keymap: http://www14.zippyshare.com/v/anLAfS7e/file.html
Download that file and copy it to
Code:
/system/usr/keylayout/
Then set the permissions to 644.
This should work.

worked for me , thanks for sharing.
For those it didn't work this is what I did , downloaded file on Shield TV *rooted btw* copied to /system/usr/keylayout/ , unpaired controller , restarted shield tv, repaired and now as far as I can tell all the buttons are working as they are supposed to.
Only issues so far is still seems like apps still dont like the controller even if properly mapped. Emulators for the most part work with every button.

The key layout works perfectly, thanks a ton.
Im having the issue where the controller will not "find" my Shield tablet or my nexus phone after being disconnected. I have to repair it every single damn time, and the pairing process is a massive pain in the ass that fails most of the time. I have updated the firmware and it just seems like the controller blinks endlessly.
I can confirm the Layout works without any issues on my rooted Samsung S7. Good job! Thank you very much.
There is a new firmware update for the controller that works perfect on my shield tv. No patch needed.

Bet you'll be heavily contributing to the FTV(S) sceen. Welcome aboard.
After your done playing with the Spectrum App. If you get bored or have some time. Maybe you can take a look at the ATT UVerse apps (FireTV & PlayStore) to see if they can be modded. Specially to bypass the root check.
I can quickly test any mod you send/post. PM me any time.
Here are some mods that might help on Spectrum & other apps too:

Thank you my friend! With TWC switching to Spectrum, am losing channels left and right, and now a set top box is needed on every TV.. No thanks, I was happy with my 2-71 channels with just a direct cable, so the FireStick was something I wanted anyway, so I decided to pull the trigger on it, to quickly find out the app is supported :silly::laugh:
Hopefully myself or someone else can get this sorted out as it's a great MOD that was created and I hope I can revive it. There is so much info though, and just making the ones today took hours, but the confusion is that I am making literally the same edits as the app that is linked here into the new app but yet it just isn't taking, so maybe some new checks are in place, but I couldn't find them. But with a device for myself to test will save some good time, and it's always a good learning experience.
I know how it goes. To me the process or learning experience can be even more fun or rewarding then even a positive outcome. Gotta enjoy the road. Not just the destination. I've been in the FTV(S) sceen for over two years. And it's been a blast. Hope you enjoy it as much as I have. As much fun as it's been. This relatively cheap devices really solved a ton of content access problems too.
Although the Fire7's display has a 16:9 aspect ratio, videos are always stretched with black bars at top and bottom due to its non-square pixels. (THIS ONLY APPLIES TO 5TH GEN FIRE7!!!)
I slightly modified VLC to compensate for that error.
Please note that this only works for hardware decoded videos (h264, h265 but not webm)!
It's based on the latest beta version and I changed package name and icon so you can run it side-by-side with the official version.
Hope you like it...

You have to request developer access and give reasons why you need it - like - what devices are you going to support.
I did request it but as this is really useful to a single device only I'm not expecting them to grant it.
What do you think about the new player hud buttons? Which ones do you prefer?

Well I hadn't gotten a chance to test the old version to see the old buttons since the link expired so I can't really say. I think it looks good to me though. Maybe you could upload to mediafire or Mega in the future?

Okay, I see. It had the original vlc buttons. I didn't like them as the stretching is very apparent with round buttons.
I will use one of the two you suggested although the 30 day expiry could be a good motivation to update regularly

Suspect not but even if it were technically possible no one is investing that kind of development effort in this device.

I will try to update it to a recent beta with chrome cast support in the next days.
I don't however own a CC to test. Does casting work for you in the official vlc builds?

Glad to hear it's of use to someone
and yeah... it's sad people are asking for features and won't take the time to report back whether these are working...

Do you know if it would be possible to implement this for a ROM? Like system wide? So that it would correct it for the entire system instead of just VLC?
